I found the new checkpoint secureclient for ppc 2003 on the checkpoint website this morning. Now I am reading the release notes and see that all HTC Himalaya models (XDA II, MDA II, Qtek 2020) are NOT supported.
I was waiting for this software to go out and buy an XDA II. Has anyone of you yet tried to install it? If not, is anyone willing to try it for me? I just can't believe it doesn't work.
Thanks in advance
Are you talking about this one?
http://www.checkpoint.com/techsupport/downloads/bin/securemote/4_1/ce_b0131/SC-PPC2K3-131.zip
yes that's the one i am talking about. I looked into the release notes and there it says that tha XDA II is not supported...
Yep, I've tried it and sure enough it doesn't work. Very annoying.

CheckPoint SecureClient for PPC 2003
I have it installed and it does work fine on my MDA II. However, the app was built on the Checkpoint 4.1 version so it will not work with NG. As long as you still have an older connection to a 4.1 based server you can use it.
Seems pretty lazy to build a new app without making it compatible with teh current version of your software!!
Checkpoint ppc2003 Client
I was on the early adopter program with my XDII with build 129 and now it also works ok with the released build 131. There were some issues at build 129 where an incoming call would disconnect gprs and then you couldnt reconnect gprs without a soft reset.
compatibility
The PocketPC versions of SecureClient 4.1 work fine with the current versions of Check Point's firewall software.
Seems pretty lazy to criticise a new app without checking your facts

Does anyone have any idea when we may be able to use Blackberry connect on the IIi. I bought this particular model because of the performance benefits and with the knowledge that in 'Spring' O2 would release a ROM for blackberry connect. Well spring has come and gone and in typical fashion, UK service providers continue to let down their customers with empty promised of further rom updates. If any O2 person reads this forum, all I'm asking for is some information about the release date. My O2 corporate account manager told me yesterday that O2 have no immediate plans for a ROM update so whats going on? If you're saying your going to release an update and then miss the date, please have the curtesy yo let your customers know. :x
How funny! I was just about to ask a simillar question.
I've been (trying to) using an XDA2 with a BES4 server & the BB update. It is not good & flaky. At the moment it won't stay working for very long. I've tried several XDA2's & none better than others.
I was going to try an XD2i & wanted to come on here to ask experiences.
I was under the impression that the BB client currently out worked as is on the XDA2i ??
It's not included on the O2 ROM, though if you know of a separate client I can install - let me know...
There *used* to be one on the O2.co.uk site under upgrades. It was a 250K file that you ran & installed itself onto the 1.72 ROM.
Its not on the website now
I was hoping I'd d/loaded & saved it but I can't find it at the moment. It was an .exe
Anyone help?

That ROM is meant for XDAII.
I am disappointed as well that O2 did not materialize their promise to release Blackberry for XDAIIi. I have made the switch from XDAII (blackberry on 1.72) to XDAIIi and suffered without Blackberry.
I know that ROM is meant for XDA2 but there was (at some point) a file that you could run that installed BB onto it without running a full ROM update.
Now the added file here from the Extended ROM adds BB functionality to an XDA2. I'm guessing that this is what that d/load was. Anyone want to test it on an 2i ?
I was brave enough to try. The software installs successfully but thats all. It doesn't appear to connect with the desktop client and the desktop client is telling me that the software is not installed on the XDA. Hum-ho!

You can install both the desktop config and blackberry client on your XDAIIi but RIM won't connect for you. There seems to be a check for authorised version.
In the past, I have tried on different ROM version on XDAII e.g. WM2003SE 2.06 but failed. It worked only after I change my XDAII to official UK O2 ver 1.72. Therefore I concluded that unless the ROM you use is official ROM version meant for blackberry, all other version will fail.
I'm confused, some people here seem to be talking about BES, others I think maybe talking about internet mail which works differently.
What versions are everyone trying to connect to, I might be able to help??

There *IS* a client for IIs and IIi, but there are problems with ActiveSync that are holding back it's release (RIM/Microsoft problem).
What do you want? software with a bug in it that will cause you to complain even more?
I have been told it is coming out 17th Oct from O2.
Encouraging, the 17th Oct is exactly the same date that o2 have given me on Wednesday, I was told that the o2 site would be updated and the new ROM would be available and includes BB Connect...
These updates used to be available from the developer site prior to release, where has the developer site disappeared to, I can no longer find this any more
Lets wait and see....

Hi Southern Man
Looks like we are nearly there then! Can you tell me if the version you have been trialing has the "delivered" and "read" functionality similar to the RIM pagers?

Hey Guys,
Due to my companies outdated exchange servers I am in need of a good realtime redirector. I read that Smartner Duality Pro is very good but it doesn't seem to work with Win Mo 5.0. Anyone have any more info on this or could recommend another Real Time Redirector that is compatible with the Wizard.
Thanks,
Alex
can't u ask them to upgrade the exchange server? ... i've used smartner duality before with my XDA 2S but i haven't really used it on a WM5.0 device ... i use an O2 XDA Exec now with mine connecting to our exchange server at the office and it's cool and everything but it has a 1 to 5 second delay compared to using blackberry ...
Cheers!
I have actually looked into it, and apparently they will be upgrading sometime this year, which could mean 2008 knowing this company. I have asked to be one of the first on when it gets up and running. For now I am looking for something to bridge me till that time.

I have used the smartphone client successfully on the vario for sometime, however most recently been having some TCP connectivity issues.

Hi Jim,
Could you tell me which device client did you use. When I tried the 4.1 PPC client it won't install, just hangs up. The Smartphone one does install, however it never initializes once I try to get it going.
Thanks,
A

Like you I have been waiting with less and less patience for a Smartner WM5 client.
Yesterday I think I found the solution but it does seem a good deal more expensive than Smartner.
http://www.esemail.net/index.htm
They do say that you get FULL support including calendars!!!!
My eval is on the way so I shall see.
Robin
Thanks Robin. Ill give it a shot as well and see how it works out.
Well I heard back from them, and they are only licensed to ditribute in Europe, so I am back on the search.
Some optimistic hopes declaims about mid february. Can't say for sure, I'll try to write here when confirmed.
I also heard back from Smartner, Seven, AlwaysOn....whatever their current name is. They will have an official Win Mo 5.0 client out by summer.
Has anyone found a workaround to this. I tried the cab file for Pocket PC and it just hangs on install. The smartphone edition one does install, but can't get it to intialize when I run it.

Smartner Duality and Win Mo 5.0
Contact Dan Metcalfe ([email protected]). In mid December he told me that they (Smartner/Seven) would be supporting WM 5.0 by January 2006 and the O2 mini S which I have. I decided I did not need it so I don't know if it has happened or not
AlexL,
I have this same issue. The work around is NOT to click the "OK" button in the warning dialog box about ActiveSync. Slide this box out of the way so you can get to the menu in the bottom right-hand corner. Under Menu, click on "Settings" -> double-click "Detail". In Detail change the Calendar Sync to "No". Finally, click Done. Then continue through the rest of the setup. Basically mail will work, but the calendar doesn't. There is something the Smartphone version doesn't like about the WM5 appointment database. In addition there are some settings that you can't get to. Like e-mail truncation sizes, etc...

Blaine
Chaps,
Having just upgraded my trusty iPAQ and V3 for a T-Mobile Vario I was mortified to find the PPC Duality 4 client for Lotus Notes won't work. Unfortunately tech support at my organisation won't distribute the smartphone client for me to try even though we have people using C500's.
I don't suppose someone who has access to the V4 Duality Pro Smartphone client could make a copy available?
This is not a request for pirate software as it is useless without the appropriate back end, it's just a frustrated techie who has got himself caught on the bleeding edge while the technology laggards in my IT department pontificate the relative merits of running 'mobile phone' software on a PDA.
Any help would be appreciated as I will look a bit of a tit using my iPAQ to access mail through the bluetooth/GPRS connection or a perfectly good WM5 PDA.
EDIT:
Well I take back what I said about the internal guys, they supplied me with the new V5 ppc client which is 2005/WM5 compatibe and it works a dream.

Dave
Windows Mobile 5 Client for Smartner Duality
Hi, we have been using the Smartner duality Professional edition, with a PC in the office pushing emails out to 5 mobile devices. I have upgraded everyone to TMobile Variois and the old 4.1 Windows 2003 client will no longer install. Anyone got access to a working Mobile 5 client? The internet only client will not install with the Push connector.
Many thanks

Hi,
Does anyone already have a solution? This is the only, but big drawback that I have with my Qtek 9000.

Does that allow you to receive faxes to your device?
It doesn't work
Hi,
I tried that software, but it's only to view fax files, it does not allow to send or receive faxes.
i'll keep looking for a working alternative.
Thanks,

Hi
I found this one on a Yahoo Group:
http://www.samtechnc.com/eng/introduction/mfax_intro.htm
It should work on my Qtek 9000, but i was not able to try, because i don't have enough skills for that.
Maybe someone here can try and post their experiences
Mfax is for PocketPC 2003. I asked them when they may make it available for WM5 and got the following reply;
"Right now we do not know if and when we will be able to support Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phones with our software.
The problem is that the modem i.e. network manufacturer (Qualcomm with their CDMA network) is not supporting fax class 1 or 2 in their system. Therefore we are not able to support the WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones (or the CDMA based WM 2003 Pocket PC Phones). Furthermore HTC is - due to the lack of support from Qualcomm - not able to support us either.
So we are stuck in the middle. As long as Qualcomm doesn't set a higher
priority to the fax class support within their network (modem) we can do
nothing about this issue.
As soon as they would change this issue we would immediately be able to
support WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones as well as CDMA phones using their network.
Frankly, I do not think that this issue will be solved soon. Faxing is still
seen as not important by the big companies (which I certainly do not agree, but we do not have a lobby or a direct contact person at Qualcomm, who has the power to change this)."
Maybe we should start lobbying Qualcomm.
We are MFaxCE's developer
We are the developer of MFaxCE. Actually, we have already ported our MFaxCE to WM5.0 successfully, but we found that HTC have changed a lot or haven't open the port for fax on WM5.0 device, we still fail to send/receive fax on WM5.0 right now.
However we are working with some manufacturer who is willing to modify their driver to make our MFaxCE capable of fax on their WM5.0 device. And we are also looking forward that HTC can do some modification or disclose some information to us, so that we can make MFaxCE compatiable with all the HTC WM5 device.
We will keep you posted about any news in the future!

I did, (downloaded from: http://www.checkpoint.com/downloads/quicklinks/downloads_sr.html )
but every time I want to start the CheckPoint VPN SecureClient, i get an error: 'Internal Error'. Anybody has a working version for HTC Wizard / Qteck 9100 / K-JAM?
Thanks!
I seriously doubt it. Checkpoint isn't compatible with anything and they take forever to change anything. You'd do better to try looking at the problem a different way. I forward my corporate mail to a private mail server which then forwards it to the phone.
Hi folks,
I've had problems with the shipped BB version for my Athena. I downloaded and installed the Desktop Component 2.1.1.21 and the BBC version 2.1.2.54. Both are running smoothly and fast.
Donwload from here:
Desktop Component: http://support.vodafone.de/publicfiles/activesyncinstaller2.1.1.21.zip
BB Client: http://support.vodafone.de/publicfiles/bbconnect_pocketpc_bb_2[1].1.2.54.exe
Cheers
Hello.
Thanks for the links.
A quick question: Are you able to be on the web, and still have your mail
pushed in?
Or, must you exit IE or Opera to switch over to mail?
I am so grateful to you if this all works out.
Also, do you know by chance if Cingular has an issue with BB on a Pocket PC?
I can't see why they would, as long as I have the BB data plan... yes?
thanks again.
Hi C0rnholio, I am trying to use my direct push mail functions of my Athena.
However, I am not aware that the Athena comes with a blackberry connect software. Apparently yours come with it, but you have some problems with it, am I correct?
Then you find another software which solved your problems.
Actually which one of those 2 downloads which you posted replace the original problem software? Do you install one in your PC and one in your Athena or both in Athena?
If I can use my Athena for my Blackberry connection, that will help me get rid of my blackberry device coming from my provider.
Please enlighten me on this Blackberry connect for Athena!
BB: anyone using it?
any other experiences? I'm restlessly waiting for my ordered advantage...... will the rom in the advantage be permissable to load BB connect? i went thru this with my wizard..... at the end of it all, when on the web, bb wldn't wrk, until exiting PIE and vice versa....... let's hope this has been upgraded
Blackberry on my HTC Advantage up and running.
Info: WM5 in Spanish
BB in spanish. I installed the BB from the links of Vodafone found in this forum.
My server is Lotus Notes 6.
Any other information just ask me.
BB on WM5 is the best solution for BB. I tried Symbian BB on several machines including Nokia 9300 and the result on WM5 is more stable and you can open ALL attachments. Even better than real RIM BB machines... If you need BB got BB for WM5. Trust me. Off course in this Athena with the huge screen and with the HSDPA is the best solution.
All I need to find out were is the limit of the size of the attachements you can download... if in the BB on Wm5, in the BB Desktop or in the BES itself.
Regards and thank you for the information to install BB on WM5,
mahjong
Just to anyone to know.
BB 4 on the Athena in WM5 destroy the today screen and I should made a hardreset and rollback to BB 2. Looks like a incompatibility between BB 4 and WM5 to me... I'm not sure.
More details in the BB 4 threat in this forum.
Best Regards,
mahjong
