I recently got an O2 Xda2.
The specs say Xda2 has 64MB Rom and 128MB Ram, but when I go to <Start> - <Settings> - <System Tab> and <Device Information>, the <Hardware Tab> shows RAM size 128MB and Flash size 32MB.
Is this supposed to be correct?
Why isn't Flash size showing 64MB?
Also, when I registered with this forum, and after selecting my device as O2 XDA2, the Rom Version under the drop-down box offered an option of 1.60.00WWE. However, my Rom Version under <Device Information> was showing as 1.52.00WWE. Is mine an earlier version? How can I update it?
I'm a novice Pocket PC user, PLEASE HELP!!!!
It is correct, the rom is in 2 parts I think, primary and extended, in total 64 meg.

I just did PPC Techs upgrade to 128mb Ram and new battery. I'd like to add 400.11 ENG WM2003. Can I simply go to Jeff's Kitchen and download .exe file and install it or is that too simplistic?
I had previously upgrade to latest ATT upgrade from Siemens a couple of months ago and have the A.20.17 version.
Thanks

No, life can be that easy sometimes.
WM 2003
Thanks for the prompt reply--I assume I don't need SD card reader and simply install as I did the last upgrade using Active Sync??
Nope, just put XDA in cradle and make sure ActiveSync thinks it's connected. Then run the exe, and you'll be all set.
But i thought the 128 meg install includes special drivers for the extra 64 meg space? if you did an upgrade to wm2003, i don't think you'd still keep the drivers? T2T if i'm not mistaken
PPC TECHS UPGRADE
I'm waiting for a reply from them--because the drivers for T2T were for PPC2002 and I think they have to be updated for 2003. I'll check that before installing wm2003
I guess I didn't read as carefully as I should have. The 128 indeed needs the special driver. I wouldn't mind having that driver to stick in the kitchen. And I'd also like to know if it does WM2003...
the driver has a built in serial code that matches your last 4 digits of the unit's #... so no users can share, (incase they DO their own memory upgrade)
unless...... u change the unit's serial id #
Personally I could never see the reasoning behind these internal upgrades, memory is relatively cheap, sd cards dont take up room when in the slot and also the card needs no drivers external to the system. Am I missing some hidden benefits? Oh by the way I also know that these hardware mods are done mainly because they CAN be done so I am not knocking the achievement of the programmers and hardware buffs.

Yes: the internal memory can hold programs as they are being executed. So if you have a 512 MB SD-card, the 32 MB internal tends to become the next bottleneck.

How did you get ram upgraded to 128mb ?
sounds interesting!
128mb upgrade
Go to: http://www.pocketpctechs.com/ppcpup.asp
They are efficient and savvy
I was thinking doing the upgrade but was stuck to the same question.
Maybe the solution is to send them the Kitchen exe file to load after the upgrade. Thus the T2T driver can be also loaded in the new flashed ROM.
The only turn down I see, is that you cannot play anymore flashing the unit. Or you do an SD backup of the whole thing first (?)
Where are our gurus?

The ROM built in the kitchen overwrites anything in the device except the bootloader. The easiest would be if we could just incldue the driver in the kitchen. But if it's tied to the serial number this would be difficult...

I agree but, since they are changing only the RAM chip (upgraded to a 128MB one) and not the ROM one, we can send in the unit already flashed with the Kitchen exe file.
Then the T2T driver can be installed by them (I assume in RAM). No ?
Trying to clear things up....

To be honest, i have no idea how they ship the 128 MB units. I suppose th driver is indeed in RAM, and probably also supplied on media somehow.
Anyone here able to provide details?
So, I guess the 64Mb upgrade is the way to go if you want to keep playing with the ROM?
i called them...
be it the 128 or 256... the driver is first installed and tested on site,
then also emailed to you. with the serial code being your pda serial #.
i got the 64 upgrade. just coz i cant afford more.
AND, XDA IS COMMING SOONNNNNN
...oh, i meant XDA -II!!!
october: tmobile germany release

ExtROM:1.11.922 WWE
guys do i need to upgrade my system? or this is a newer version?
im sorry to all cause im am newbie on my device...
kindly explain what available version on 02 xda mini, and suitable for this device
thanks to all guys..
Hey it's not the newest in the world, but might be in your country. The 1.13WWE from T-Mobile is newer, but than you'll loose all O2 extra's. & upgrading what's it worth to you? It always is the case of 'if it ain't broken, don't fix it'.
For howto's & rom links visit the wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Magician
Cheers, M
That's strange. The O2 update for Asia I downloaded and installed carries the 1.11 radio version. Did you buy that unit new?
Anyway, except for the radio version, that's the most current ROM available for us.
hi oltp thanks for the info...i want to upgarde coz i want experience upgrading xda mini but its to risky he he he may ive change my mind...
hi oliver..ill bought it at 2nd hand...what version dou you have?is my rom version is newer?
There's always a risk in upgrading, see all posts with dead or help! in the title.
But it can be done & in your case make a good back-up of the ext-rom cab-files before going to think about upgrading to 1.13WWE from T-Mobile.

Ahh, that explains it. Your radio is more current, I think. If you're not having any trouble with that setup, I sugget you leave it alone.
Anyway, does your phone already have the Big Storage hack applied? What's the size of your Storage (Settings -> Memory -> Storage)?
I see...thanks oliver for the info
i have 57.41mb total storage
im gonna upgrade it to big storage/hows the procedure?
thanks
He meant what size is your internal storage folder? When you view the memory there's a tab to see the size of your SD/MMC-card. That tab can display the internal storage too.
M
i see....now i know oltp thanks
its 7.60mb
guys please teach me to do the upgrade of my storage..
if i get to upgarde my storage to big storage my xda mini will have extra speed?
thanks
No extra speed in the sence of Mhz. But you can store more programs there instead of in RAM & that speeds up your magician.
As always there are riscs in this :!:
Instructions:
- get ntrw.exe from the ftp
- Download romupdate from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/download.php?id=7510
- Download Hexedfull from the ftp
- get a SD-card > 64MB
- make backup of everything you want to keep from your magician & SD-card. everything will be wiped!!
- fully charge your magician
- uncheck usb connection in Act.sync on your PC
- put your magician in Bootloader (camera & power & soft-reset at the same time for a few seconds) wait till screen fades & reads 'serial v1.0x'. Screen is very dark since backlight is of.
- connect usb, now the screen reads 'usb v1.0x'
- start romupgrade on your pc
- pick the magician connection in the listbox, wces something I belief
- now a screen pops up
- type d2s in this screen
- follow progress on pc & magician
- wait till checksum finishes
- get SD from the magician & put it into a cardreader. DON'T FORMAT!!!
- put ntrw in C:\
- start a command window
- type on commandline: ntrw read myrom.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
- follow progress
- error at the end is normal
- make a copy of myrom.nb1
- open myrom.nb1 with the hexeditor
- Replace pattern for bigstorage in myrom.nb1:
locate twice the 02 00 00 80 00 20 and change 80 00 to b8 01 in both occurences
(use binary search for this!!)
- save it to mybs.nb1
- type on commandline: ntrw write mybs.nb1 [sd driveletter]:
error at the end is normal
- put the SD in your magician
- now it should read 'press power to flash'
- press the power button
- watch it reaches 100%
- checksum will always fail
- reset & hopefully enjoy the BIG Storage rom
Cheers, M
wow  thanks otpl for the full step by step procedure...
im having 2ng thoughts to do it coz its so risky
anyway thanks for the help
Store the steps for later use & if you ever find a shipped-rom (rom upgrade in exe format from a telco) that you like, then follow the wiki link & use that method to obtain BIG Storage. With a shipped-rom a BS patch is exactly the same as a normal upgrade.

hello,
i have wm 6.1 (niax) rom on my phone, but for the life of me cant get opera 4.1 or indeed 3 to run. It keeps saying that it needs more memory but i have about 28 meg of phone memory left for it.
I use jbedmod initially to try the install(opera basic uk 3.1), i press continue and i get the select a folder, which is default root and press continue. next comes the untrusted bit which i click through and it tries to connect to the web.....
i get this message....there is not enough room to install opera mini(69k is needed for installation).
Memory setting are: storage total=42.31, in use 13.69, free 28.63 (MB)
program total=48.75, in use 26.52, free 22.23 (MB)
Storage card has 383.14 free (MB)
Any idea`s please

i suggest u take a look on forums on how to installate a custom rom, but since its friday and i am always ready to go home from work i thought, lets be helpfull lol
step one: by the looks on what u write u dont have activesync installed on the laptop: go download Activesync from Microsoft website
step two: read the following topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311403 and in that way u can unlock your phone for custom rom flashing
step three: download and install a custom rom of your choice. U could try to start with one of the roms of Shady313. They are downloadable @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=546805
be very carefull what u do, try to read several topics first like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308242
look around on the artemis forums and read the topics which concern flashing rom subjects.. u might learn a bit before you start flashing [or wrecking ] your phone
Hello, you original wm5? I have problems with the P3300, is cid locked, if you please upload somewhere wm5.and do not make the mistake of another rom on the phone without unlock CID first.
Yes, the original wm5.
How to update your HTC Artemis
Those having questions on flashing (i.e. updating) their HTC Artemis could try following these steps 1) Backup e.g. PIM Backup 2) disable standby and hibernation then remove SIM & SDHC cards 3) if necessary then cid unlock 4) recommend hard reset or update to the latest official build 5) if necessary Update SPL to latest 1.11.cmon 6) flash new rom then hard reset 7) put in SIM & SDHC cards and enjoy the result of the hard work by the developer

Hi Peeps,
I've been uing my 3300 for quite a while now (O2 branded XDA) with an 8 gig card coupled with SDHC-Artimis drivers (dated Nov 07). I've been experiencing freezes on start up with increasing frequency (it gets as far as the volume sliders and just hangs there) and have decided that a modified ROM could be the way to go, preferably one that has sdhc drivers built in. Incidently, the freezes appear to be related to the use of Copilot - installed on the card - but I could be wrong. Also, hard reset and restore from the most current backup now goes straight to the hanging state Hence the "start from scratch" new ROM thinking.
Currently, on start up, my device reports the following on an O2 branded "Welcome" screen:
IPC 3.04.0001
SPC 3.04.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 3.4.0.0
Looking around on the Wiki (wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Upgrades) I see that the Latest ROM is 3.15. However, further looking at the page shows that - if I'm reading the table correctly - 3.15 is available in Polish only. The latest HTC WM6 English version appears to be 3.13.405.1. Is that correct? Does this ROM support SDHC? If not what is the latest SDHC driver available for the 3300?
Do I need to do anything else before upgrading (apart from back-up of course) and which would be the most appropriate /latest back-up instructions to follow (I'm using Vista 64 but can use an XP 32 machine if needs be).
TIA
PaulS
