How to activesync with bluetooth?

I have a Sony Vaio which has built in bluetooth. When I pair the XDA2 with it, it can not see any serial profile on the XDA2. Also the BT implementation of Microsoft on the XDA2 does not do much as well. The pairing of the machines from XDA2 gives you the message that it's ready for activesync via bluetooth but that's BS. When you choose activesync via bluetooth from the XDA2, my VAIO shows an instant try of serial connection between the devices but it does not stay there.
The bluetooth implementation on the VAIO is also Microsoft BT stack and it sees the XDA2 as a DUN device, which installs a modem at port 10 to use the XDA2 as a modem. So some part of this works, except the activesync.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I have contacted NAVMAN GPS in Europe and they have confirmed that they just sent an XDA2 to New Zealand to their developers to find a solution for the strange pairing problem (NAVMAN GPS only accepts "NAVMAN" as the pairing PIN but you can only enter numbers at the XDA2 pairing software)
I have exactly the same problem as you with my Sony VAIO Z1 SP laptop. I have posted a separate thread but so far no-one has been able to get my bluetooth activesync working. Have you had any luck yet?
No not yet, I've downloaded sony's updates for bluetooth from www.vaio-link.com, but it didn't help the problem. I'll keep on working on this, let me know if you have a solution.
I had a similar problem with a Tosh laptop, but after upgrading to the latest stack was okay. Although I still couldnt configure from the tosh laptop (no serial port recognised), when following the instructions within the bluetooth HOWTO on the o2 website it worked fine
http://www.myxda.com/XdaII/serviceandsupport/template/XdaIIHowToUse.vm
Seems to work okay to other people I've suggested it to as well who were having trouble

Uninstall Bluespace NE and use a Widcomm-BT Stack instead. Works fine with my MDA II (Towa Pocket Bluetooth Tools installed) and Sony Vaio PCG-Z1RSP.
You have to edit btwusb.inf before installing the Widcomm-Stack:
[WIDCOMM]
%SONYZ1.DeviceDesc%=BTWUSB, USB\VID_044e&PID_3003 ; SONY VAIO VID&PID
[strings]
SONYZ1.DeviceDesc="Sony VAIO Z1 Bluetooth Device"
How can you download the WidComm stack. Can this stack also be used on a Toshiba Satelite Pro m10. i have troubles with the toshiba bluetooth stack..

Should work if the internal transceiver is also manufactured by Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR).
For instructions on installing different versions of the WidComm BT-stack,[includig the Dell one] have a look at this forum
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=231
You can also look at this page for a step by step guide (not verified - "never touch a running system"):
http://www.jonscaife.com/
I had problems using activesync via bluetooth with a cheap class 1 dongle (Microtune I think) but managed to get it working by installing the Pocket Bluetooth stuff from the links in other threads (german internet site) and by following the instructions at http://www.jonscaife.com/ and installing the Widcomm stack linked from there (1.4.something I think) rather than the one that came with my dongle (1.3.2.7 I think).
Everything now works a treat - thanks Slartibartfass for the link - saved my hair from being pulled out.

EZ Solution
I just found an easy solution for u guys who using Toshiba Bluetooth Stack ...
U guys no need to remove anything ...
All u need to do is verify the COM port of ur bluetooth ...
1. Go to the “Bluetooth Local COM” Applet in your Control Panel
2.Open “Bluetooth Local COM” applet where you will see a list of Ports
3. The Corerct port you need to use is
“COM7 Toshiba BT Port (COM7) LocalCOM-Server[SerialPort(TOSHIBA LocalCOM)]
and not “COM6 Toshiba BT Port (COM6) LocalCOM-Client”
From this guy here ... << http://thinkabdul.com/2006/10/12/tu...c-via-bluetooth-with-toshiba-bluetooth-stack/ >> TQ sir ...
Then ... u guys need to use ur REGEDIT to find this ...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
Notice there is SerialPort ?? yes ... JUST CHANGE THE string 'Bluetooth' to COM7 ...
After this just pair ur wat ever PDA u've got & thats it ... u got the ACTIVESYNC in the advance option of the services available ...
Hope u guys enjoy !!!

Changing Bluetooth stack to Broadcom

Anybody know of a way to change the bluetooth stack in the i-mate Jam to the broadcom stack, as used in the Orange m2000 (Blue Angel)? I've used both and find the LAN browsing abilities in the M2000 most useful
Thanks
At a guess mate, the broadcom stuff is wi-fi and NOT Bluetooth?

Yes, but Broadcom aquired Widdcom, so now they also have bluetooth.
I resume this thread to ask if anybody thought to test BCM1000-WCE
Bluetooth® Communications Software for Windows® Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition.
It looks great and full of functionality. But where is it possible to dowload it? Is this the same of the one on ftp site, BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab ? Did anyone try BroadcomCorp_BT1.0.0.3900.cab on S100? Does it support the Audio High Quality (A2DP) profile?

Thx PapaDocta for your testing...it's really a shame that we have to work around this way to find a decent BT Stack to replace that poor one by MS!

i tried this stack - it's don't work.
I think it because broadcom limits to use they stack only for certain devices which has license to use they stack.
in broadcom registry hive i found "license" key. if somebody find proper license key for i-mate bt chip - i think that broadcom stack will work on magician.

Is dectection set on on ur computer, and does your bleutooth stack support the PAN profile?
me too, i've placed a BT PAN enabling topic 3 times. geuss you guys haven't noticed
windows installs the PAN service and i have the option/canconnect to my device via PAN from windows, but my device cannot detect the PAN or any service on my PC.
what kind of device you have, i remember i had the option too when i installed widcomm BT stack. but it crashed my device later. i have a htc wizard. PAN does work on wm5 but i don't have it in my rom
As its a Magician forums i thought it would be obvious?
I got an MDA compact with the Qtek WWE 1.12 ROM.
Using the Bluesoleil stack with the Cambridge Sillicon stack aswell.
My bluetooth adapter on my PC is generic, i actually have no idea what it is!

Bluetooth Networking ? PAN ?

Hi there,
i try to get my Herald connected to ma Windows XP SP2 Personal Computer for a while now. On the PC Bluesoleil ist running with PAN Networking enabled, but i do not know how to get the Herald connected. There is a Bluetooth Shared Folder in WM5 - But no chance to get it done.
Also Sync via Active Sync is not possible.
Can anyone provide some help ?
I have tried to install Bluesoleil on Herald, but this semms to be WM2003 only...
Sync working...
Okay i´ve found a solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=236712
I Had to select "Use server assigned IP Adress" in the Herald network settings...
BUT i still don´t know about PAN, i can start a PAN Server, so that my Windows XP can use the Herald`s gprs connection...
To me this means, it must be possible to use Windows Mobile 5 as a PAN client aswell !
Hi
This is not a wm5 problem but a bluetooth stack one. If you use as I think the Microsoft stack on the herald, forget the pan ! Pan is only avalaible with widcomm or bluesoleil stack.
What do you mean by Microsoft Stack ?
Do you mean the one on Herald or the Windows XP stack ... I´m using Bluesoleil on WinXP, and the WM5 one on Herald, but it doesn`t work out still !
Hi
the one on the herald, in wm5 !

Bluetooth PAN

Hi all! Just get Pharos (some days ago), first PDA for me.
I've tried to get work Bluetooth PAN, but unfortunally it works for ICS only, Pharos works as NAP. But I need to connect it as PANU to PC that is NAP.
As I read here and in some another forums this is a "feature" of a Microsoft BT stack. MS guys knows best what we need?
There are some solution for another devices that replace Microsoft BT stack with Broadcom or Bluesoleil one.
I've tried Bluesoleil, but it can't see bluetooth adapter on my Pharos, and there were no way to return for MS instead of Hard reset.
Has anyone another solution for it?
