hello all,
has anyone successfuly used Truefax on MDA II? I have downloaded the latest version 2.06 and when sending a fax it shows:
Initializing ...
Dialing....
Connect....
Line dropped
The fax on the other end answers all right.
I have turned on logging and it shows - NO CARRIER - in it.
Can anyone help?
Thanks a lot
zbynek
Yes I can help you but not the way you probably would like !
TrueFax do not yet work with Qtek 2020.
I have been in touch for several days with the developers. The final answer was that Truefax isn't yet ready for Qtek 2020!
Ciao

DANG! I am doomed. Thanks for reply.
Do you have any information if they plan to make it work anytime soon?
thanks

I can confirm: no way until now to use Truefax with O2 XDAII
Obvious question: do you have Facsimile Group 3 subscription on your SIM?
Many carriers (including O2 UK) require you to subscribe. In the case of O2 you receive a secondary MSISDN in order to receive fax.
Technically this is Synchronous, Transparent 9600bps, Group 3 Fax.
hmmm ...why then on their website they wrote this?:

Yes, I have a fax phone number.
Truefax dials out, the other fax answers, both faxes show "connecting..." and then Truefax shows "line dropped" and disconnects.
I wonder if the problem could be the modem init string. Default is AT E0 V1 Q0 M0 S7=60 S10=10 +CLIP=0; +CRC=0; +CMEE=0; +COLP=0; +CBST=7,0,0
Is there someone who successfuly use Truefax on MDAII?
thanks
Hi
I have installed the truefax v2.05 on Qtek and:
1. I can send fax in PSTN, but i can't receive
2. I can send and receive in GSM
I live in Athens-Greece
It's been a long time since I used mobile fax (Nokia 2110i in fact!)
You may want to try changing +CBST=7,0,0 to +CBST=7,1,0 or +CBST=0,1,0
The second digit ,1, denotes Synchronous mode.
I cannot guarantee this will work but it is something to try out.

I just wrote to technical support KSE software. I'm waiting for answer.
If someone knows how to configure truefax 2.06 please help.
I can send FAX just once then I should do a soft-reset to make another one, but I can't receive FAX.
I use version 2.05
I haven't tested v. 2.06 yet

I just receive answer from technical support of Truefax. They wrote:
"Dear Sir,
unfortunately some ROM-versions exist which have defect radio modules which impede any fax communication. Untill now we only had this cases with MDA devices which are similar to the XDA devices but it seems that now the XDAs are also concerned. We are already in contact with the manufacturer of the devices and ROM versions but a reales date for new ROM updates isn't fixed yet. I will check if this is really the problem in your case, but if it is the only options are to make a downgrade to an older ROM version or to wait for the new update.
Best regards,

I'm always waiting for suggestions of positive experiance of Qtek2020 and Truefax 2.06 users.

No luck with either 2.05 or 2.08
I've tried both 2.05 and 2.08, and none seems to work..
I allways get "No carrier", and then it hangs for a while..
Trying to use a Qtek2020 with 1.66WWE ROM.
Would be nice to see this feature integrated with the OS instead...
Alternative Solution to Receive Faxes
Ok, this is re-inventing the wheel here but...
If you are in the UK, go to http://www.gtitelecom.co.uk/fax2email/
Or try www.yac.com (i believe they offer numbers for other countries as well).
You can have a national number for free! Buy the Exchange & Mart as other companies will be listed in there too.
Not what you want but it works. I use both to receive faxes without any problems & can then use PC software to send faxes.

Hello.
We are testing XDA-II for using the comercials of my job.
We have problems using VPN client software for this PDA. The server that we have is CheckPoint FireWall-1 and the client that I'm testing is CheckPoint SecuRemote PocketPC 2003 (Build 131) that you can download from the URL: http://www.checkpoint.com/techsupport/downloads/bin/securemote/4_1/ce_b0131/SC-PPC2K3-131.zip (is the lastest version for PocketPC 2003)
It seems that CheckPoint not support XDA-II on this last version (inside the documentation is write).. I don´t know why, couse I've been testing on the model XDA-I and it works fine.
We are pending of buying 40 XDA-II until we can solve this problem. So, we are looking for a solution or a VPN client that works on a XDA-II and been compatible with our Firewall server: certificates PKCS12# and IKE and IPSEC.
I have found 2 posibles clients: Movian VPN and NCP VPN Client but I don´t know if will works
The solution is change ROM or radio version?
The other question is about a software of VNC server for be install on the XDA-2 and that works fine. We need it for solve future problems of the comercials when are working out of the job.
Thanks in advance.
P.S: I´m writting from Spain and is possible that my english not works fine.
Im not sure if the mobile networks are the same in spain as they are here in the UK but here you have to get your provider to set you up on a different GPRS service in order to use VPN as the standard GPRS service does not support VPN. Perhaps this will be a place for you to start.
I use my M1000 in exactly the way you are describing and I can remote control any PC on our network using VNC.
Good luck!

OK. Here in Spain the provider "Telefonica" offers to the enterprises a VPN Service but it´s expensive and would make more slower the comunications :? . Telefonica have offered us this service when they have noticed about the problems we are having: the XDA-II is provided by Telefonica although here in Spain XDA-II is called TSM500.
Anyway, with notebooks we have no problem for using client firewall with certificates against our Firewall Server.
I think that PocketPC is a little notebook...why not works? :?:

OK. I have tested vncviewer on XDA-II and it worked. But I want to install inside the XDA-II the VNC Server: I want control remotely a PocketPC using a PC
Thanks for your reply
VNC Server won't work with my Xda II also.
>> I want to install inside the XDA II the VNC Server: I want control remotely a PocketPC using a PC
I also had a problem with VNC Server,I used bluetooth network for testing.
The only method I knew now is to connect to pc via active sync, then run pocket controller program.
Hi there,
there is a VNC server for the ppc platform at:
http://www.pocketvnc.com/pocketVNC.aspx
currently it is in a kind of beta stage, but it works.
Thank you very much.
I will try it
Well I lost 3 day, to finding how to make it works.
Finally, it works, with XdaII.

I tried Checkpoint Remote on my XDAII yesterday through GPRS. Our firewall uses Checkpoint Client which is not compatible with the PocketPC Checkpoint Remote (so my system administrator informed me). The XDAII was authenitcated by the server, however the policies were not compatible. I asuume if a version of Check Point client is created for PocketPC then, despite not be supported, would work.

Yes!, it seems that there is an incompatibility problem betwen CheckPoint SecuRemote and XDA-II or HTC Himalaya.
You can view here:

 On my case, the XDA-II not comunicate with the Firewall server and don't download the policies neither certificates. How did you do?
Thanks for your reply
I don't think there is an incomatability problem between the XDAII and the Cehckpoint SecureRemote, as such, I think it is just not supported. Maybe Checkpoint do not have a unit to test on? I will need to reinstall on my XDAII and go through the process again, but will not be able to do for the next few days.
Here are the steps I took, which got me as far authenticating with the firewall.
I can't download it . Could you send it to my e-mail: [email protected]?
Thanks in advance

MFaxCE
Doesn't do word attachments like Truefax, but it does let you attach TIFFs. Only $9.95 too.
However, I couldn't get it to work on my Wizard. Just hung when trying to create a fax.
Ho hum.
DBo.
I found a couple I'm gonna try out...
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...d=2&N=96806&Ntt=fax&productId=177460&R=177460
and
http://www.handango.com/PlatformPro...d=2&N=96806&Ntt=fax&productId=186735&R=186735
Edit: neither of which work on my Cingular 8125.
I contacted the Truefax people, and they say that they need some "secret" info about the Wizards processor to get the fax software to work. The manufacturers have not released this info to them yet. They also stated that faxing is not a great priority with phone manufacturers now days, so they are not a priority.
So it looks like Efax on a yearly subsciption is the only way at the moment.
Come on HTC, pull your finger out of that hole and realise that faxes are still used all around the world on a daily basis.
Maybe here: http://www.mobilefan.net/
There is print en fax software

i'll keep looking for a working alternative.

Hi
I found this one on a Yahoo Group:
http://www.samtechnc.com/eng/introduction/mfax_intro.htm
It should work on my Qtek 9000, but i was not able to try, because i don't have enough skills for that.
Maybe someone here can try and post their experiences
Mfax is for PocketPC 2003. I asked them when they may make it available for WM5 and got the following reply;
"Right now we do not know if and when we will be able to support Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phones with our software.
The problem is that the modem i.e. network manufacturer (Qualcomm with their CDMA network) is not supporting fax class 1 or 2 in their system. Therefore we are not able to support the WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones (or the CDMA based WM 2003 Pocket PC Phones). Furthermore HTC is - due to the lack of support from Qualcomm - not able to support us either.
So we are stuck in the middle. As long as Qualcomm doesn't set a higher
priority to the fax class support within their network (modem) we can do
nothing about this issue.
As soon as they would change this issue we would immediately be able to
support WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones as well as CDMA phones using their network.
Frankly, I do not think that this issue will be solved soon. Faxing is still
seen as not important by the big companies (which I certainly do not agree, but we do not have a lobby or a direct contact person at Qualcomm, who has the power to change this)."
Maybe we should start lobbying Qualcomm.
We are MFaxCE's developer
We are the developer of MFaxCE. Actually, we have already ported our MFaxCE to WM5.0 successfully, but we found that HTC have changed a lot or haven't open the port for fax on WM5.0 device, we still fail to send/receive fax on WM5.0 right now.
However we are working with some manufacturer who is willing to modify their driver to make our MFaxCE capable of fax on their WM5.0 device. And we are also looking forward that HTC can do some modification or disclose some information to us, so that we can make MFaxCE compatiable with all the HTC WM5 device.
We will keep you posted about any news in the future!

Send A pic as a FAX
Im not sure this is exactly what you want , but maybe this will help
http://www.scanr.com/default.aspx
I have used www.yac.com to send faxes. Once you set up an account you can email them a word document and it gets faxed to the number in the subject line. But I think there was a minimum spend of £30 a year or so. They also do a free fax 2 email service (person sending fax pays as it's an 07 number)
Is there any software which those I can send a fax on my Diamond? KSE TrueFax seems not to work with it!
faxes
It's a weird thing but support to send or receive faxes from windows mobile seems to have been removed from the os since WM5.
So kse truefax will not work on any 6,6.1 or 6.5 devices
Somebody have more recent news ? I remember that we used to speak a lot about this in the old times but not since some months.
