Running Programs / Applications - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi
I am somehw missing the icon in the Start > Programs Running Programs ..the one that shows wut applications are active ..with the icon that shows a running figure.
Can someone tell me where to find that application in my windows folder so I can create the link back to my start menu?

it is in the control panel - memory - running programs

I dont see control panel

it is called 'settings' in wince.

but i think he's asking where the exe file is located so he can make a shortcut to it

It's not a link
The "Running Programs" that you see on the Start menu or Programs menu is not a link. It is the executable file itself, named "Running Programs.exe".

I dont see any "running programs" under "start" or "programs", the only place I see it is under settings/memory.

there is no separate program, it is part of cplmain.cpl, you can start it by running
Code:
ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,4

"Running Programs.exe" and "Free_Memory.lnk
There is a 5,120-byte EXE file named "Running Programs.exe". I examined it. It looks like all it does is launch "\Windows\Free_Memory.lnk", which contains "18#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2". The EXE file also provides a nice icon that we see on the Start Menu. Running "Free_Memory.lnk" directly produces the same result as running "Running Programs.exe". So you can just copy "Free_Memory.lnk" to "\Windows\Start Menu" and rename it to "Running Programs.lnk". You won't have the same icon though.

Deletin icons on the programs list

hi,
I am having problem deleting an icon from the promgrams section of o2 XDA2.
I downloaded one program and later deleted the program through romeove program. The actual program has been deleted but has left behind an icon on the programs list. I cannot figure out a way how to delete it. Can anyone help
Manoj
Deleting items in program list
Look in "\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" - they are all there.
use explore or what ever file browsing tool that you use to get your kicks
go into the dir called windows
go into the dir called start menu
go into the dir called programs or something like that
it's just like on a pc
Use File Explorer. Go to \Windows then \Start Menu. Open \Programs and do whatever you want.

Icons till appearing in Programs

I have uninstalled some programs but the icon still appears in Programs. Is there an easy way to remove the icon.
Thanks.
jpfrost,
to remove the shortcut in programs: Open file explorer, Go to folder “My Device > Windows > Start Menu > Programs". You will find the shortcuts there. Delete it and it should disappear from programs.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Creating new program folders

I upgraded with a cooked rom, and want to know how to make new folders or catagories in the "programs" folder off of the start menu. For instance, I used the "create misc folder" from stephans kitchen and would like to create additional folders, such as office and accessories inside the programs folder.
If I create or copy the items/folders I want into the //windows/programs dir, nothing appears when I open progs folder off the start menue.
I have them on the start menu as items to launch, but would also like them to appear in the "programs" link off the start menu.
Any ideas?????
so you want folders in the start bar like in windows ?
or do you just want dirs in your program files dialog when you open it ?
i recall some program which made the start bar work like it does in windows and it was pure agony to use
You need to create your folders under //Windows/Start Menu/ these will then be displayed on your start menu.
I'm an idiot.
Ignore this thread.
But thank you for the help, you made me look a little differently, and I saw the err of my ways!(I only put my custom folders into the start menu, not into the start menu/programs/ dir)

putting a folder link in program tab??

Greetings
1- Can I put a link to the Windows' program folder (the one that appears near the end of the "Start" menu) in the Manila's program tab??
2- Additionally, can I put a link to a folder (e.g. Games) from the Windows program's folder in the Manila's program tab?
Thanks in advance.
I would LOVE to know if this could be done. Fingers crossed.
You can. I have even put files there (Manila program tab)
The thing you have to do is create a shortcut of your desired objecti (prog, folder, tab) and put the shortcut to windows/start Menu/programs folder. I created an extra "Shortcuts" folder there to not mess up the look of PROGRAMS item in start menu.
The point is you can add any shortcut to tf3d progs tab as long as it is situated in the start menu folder

It seems that by clicking the newly created shortcut, it launches the explorer progam to show what is within the folder
Not very sexy, any chance that it stays in manilla to display the folder content?

not working for me either... i did exactly what you said.. i used the built-in Explorer to create the "programs" shortcut .. but whenever i click on the button mapped to that shortcut, i get the message "The file 'Programs' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenets is messing...etc"
BTW, when i click on the newly created shortcut from the Explorer winodw, it opens the program folder in Explorer window too. What i need is to open the program folder in the same way it is opened when clicking "Start -> Programs"
Any ideas??
That's the same error message I got too.
Any help from anyone? I would like to know too cause mine is opening up the explorer too!
Bump. Hope this thread is not forgotten

There are some icons left in the start menu after uninstall

the program is uninstalled but the icons are still there. how to i remove them?
x2
I don't own X2 but I would expect it's similar to other wm devices: \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\...
all you have to do is delete them there
best
didnt say it in my previous post but i already did that ;(
If you had really deleted the corresponding entries in the start menu folder you would not have any shortcuts there. Because that's what a program does when it is installed. It places a shortcut either in the start menu folder (visible in the start menu) or in its subfolder programs (visible in the programs menu). I recommend you check again those two folders for shortcuts and if you find some you delete them. The folders are
windows\start menu
and
Windows\start menu\programs
Depending on the language of your rom these foldes can be named slightly different.
P.S. Make sure you use a decent file explorer like Total Commander or Resco Explorer which show hidden files too.
