Is it possible to cover scratches/bumps on an xda II ? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Is it possible? It seems so easy...
Will the warrantor do that?

Possible? not? thanks

Wear and tear due to operator use will not normally be covered by warranty, make sure you keep your phone in a case and always use a screen protector is best.

I know but will it be possible to cover the scratches? or bumps? with the same color paint of the xda II? thanks for the reply

ummm - why??? :?:
To repair/replace the housing of a dropped and cracked exec possibly? To replace the grey casing of an MDA Pro with the oh so sexy black of the XDA Exec? Could be many reasons.
I also would quite like to know if it's possible to buy case components - I've got a particularly nasty scratch on the metal plate on the lid which probably knocks a load off the 2nd hand value. Depending on what I am offered when it's upgrade time, I may want to "refresh" the look of the Exec to get the maximum resale for it.
I changed the case on my m600 last night and it was not a pleasent experiance.. it is possible but very tricky. sellers on ebay often have complete chassis you can buy
I design and protype notebooks for living and i still found it tricky!

You'll need to replace the entire lid - you can't just remove the metal section as it's so thin it bends very easily and will not stick back down again properly.
xda-dev member 'monster' had my last xda exec casing for the time being, and they are not cheap - about £40 for everything including a new hinge and hinge cover. No, I don't currently have any, and no, I can't let you know when I get some - I'll make it public when I have any more.
HTC will refurb a mda-pro or m5000 for about £90 but not the exec :-(

Is it possible to remove scratch? :(

Hello Guys
I know taht this is stupid, but is there any way to remove a scratch from the display? I am soooo pi$$ed about it :'(
I fear not.. But if you apply a shiny screen protector then it would be much less obvious.
yes it is possible look on ebay for ipod scratch removers also depends if its not to deep but i got loads out of mine with this.
I heard about iDrops but one guy here on xda made a suggestion that it might be not very good to use on blackstone since the display is very soft.
is there any exact type of this remover you can recommend? if yes please do so...thanks guys for answer
i used this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DISPLEX-SCREEN-POLISH-SCRATCH-REMOVER-FOR-PHONE-IPOD_W0QQitemZ350147162518QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneBatteries?hash=item518665b196&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1683|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
thx for your reply...
i am very curious...did it work? my scratch isnt very deep...will it remove it?
how does this fluid work anyway? does it fill the gap with soething that makes it look like no scartch is there or how?
thanks bandit
Yeh that stuff works but not if its really deep. you can get it for £2 off blueunplugged.co.uk instead of £4 on ebay lol

broken screen glass

so.. my screen glass has been broked.
I bought the phone through the UK (im from Israel) and not through a carrier.
so im screwed.. you think a private store could fix my glass? i mean things are pretty bad.. the screen is STILL showing everything..
but the glass is broken badly.. even the capcitive button is broken and there is a crack that shows the led light of the front buttons...
do you think its fixable? I'm aware it will cost alot and I dont care that it wil..
the question is, is it fixable?
and if its.. wont they put a regular glass instead of gorilla glass? i will loss glass toughness huh..?

Does the screen still responsive to touch in spite of the damage? If yes, probably you just need to fix a new glass. On eBay for an iphone it costs around £15-30 to fix it (service included). If it's not responsive to touch then you have to change another piece (digitizer) which is more expensive, around £75-150 for SGS2 (without the service).
Check on eBay for "i9100 screen lcd digitizer" or hit the link
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_trkp...d+digitizer&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_sop=2&_sc=1
Of course, as you'll have to pay the service in Israel, you should know the average price for this in your region better than me.
It can definitely be repaired, so don't worry too much.
Good luck!
PS.: Don not worry too much about the gorilla glass either, as your gorilla glass wasn't so tough, was it? Anyway, it is possible that the replacement is a gorilla as well, who knows...

It's really easy to replace the screen yourself. You have to change the whole glass and screen as they are bonded together.
I've got a used screen for sale, look at my sig below
Isnt gorrila glass supposed to be so tough ? i myself had a screen scratched frm one time putting the phone in my pocket with a key along with it !!

Tough, as in harder to crack/break. Not scratch proof ^^

I could be wrong but isnt the glass on the SAMOLED consturction a part of a whole thing? I mean you can have the glass just replaced you need to get the entire screen, I see a lot of people posting spare screens on the other thread, quality is of question though if its a real SAMOLED Plus or just a Class A replacement.
yea the touch is working just fine..
just worried about the fact that there are cracks where i can see the light of the buttons coming out....
I hope it can be fixed... hopefully with gorilla glass...
any 1 got anymore tips?
Please let us know what route you take and the outcome. You know, just in case.

I can't read Hebrew but I'm guessing since they sell phones in Israel they probably have an authorized repair center there. Take it to them and at least your warranty will remain intact.

I only posted that so OP could find a service center. They should be able to repair a SGS2 even if it's not sold there.

you probably sat down, or ran. causing your pants to squeeze the key and the phone against your leg. This exerts more force than you realize. I have the Black tie protection plan on my CAPTIVATE from best buy, I Cracked the screen in half against some stairs because of poor gps reception. one hand on the top one on the bottom of the phone, battery cover off, and PUSH!!!!!, however before it was in two, i took my house keys and tried to scratch the glass without any luck untill about 30lbs of force then light scratches started to appear. i have not put keys in my pocket with my cell phone since my Samsung B7610 Pro got F'ed badly even with a screen protector. keys+phone+pocket+sitting/running=scratches

Disabling magnetic wake...

Just wondering if there is any way to disable the "wake on magnet" feature?
The case I bought is a portfolio/book cover type, and when I fold the cover around to the back of the tablet, to read in portrait mode, the magnet in the cover shuts off my screen, through the back of the tablet.
So, any way to get rid of this "feature"?
Thanks

I'm sorry but I don't think it is possible to disable the magnet sensor. It's kind of like disabling a Graphics Card. It isn't really possible with an app without modifying the whole settings in the operating system. But I will say that it is weird having the magnet affect the sensor even though it is in the back? I really don't know about this. If I have an idea to help you for this I would tell you.
What is the name of your cover and when and where did you purchase it? This is a manufactures defect and they should replace your cover. This was very common when the "smart" covers first came out for the N7.
Of course you always have the opition of removing the magnet from the cover.

That video is brilliant. Exactly my problem, and such a simple, invisible fix. Perfect!
Now, what can I take apart that has a steel shim in it...

Any idea where can I buy the steel shim ?
Maybe worth experimenting with aluminium foil to start with although that is not ferrous. Otherwise run around with a magnet looking for somthing to cut out thin shim

Same issue for me. I cut a steel shim from a simple pin button (circle badge). This pins are everywhere and they are made of steel. Works perfectly.

Repairing the Silver Rim from Scratches!

Yup, I dropped my S4 and it has dented and scratched the plastic rim around the edge - dang it!
I'm wondering if there could be a quick fix though - does anybody know of some kind of putty or filler (that is the same silver colour) which could be used to cover the damage?
If not, then is there anywhere which sells replacement rims?
Thanks for your help folks!
try to go to your local car paint shop if they could mix you that color. then use hairline paintbrush and trace your scratches. just my 2 cents.
