Is there a function in the menu of the Qtek 2020 allowing to provide the identification of the number to the person we 're callingfrom the qtek2020?
I meant to prevent the identification of the phone number
if you mean so you can call others and they cant see who it is then it have nothing to do with ones telefone it's don automaticly over the network no matter what phone you have that is if the network support it
On my US TMobile XDA there's a way to tell the network to disable caller ID.
Start/Settings/Phone/Services Tab/Caller ID - Get Settings.../
At this point the phone reads the settings from the network and then responds with a screen to select sending Caller ID to everyone or no one.
In addition, by prefacing the dialed number with *67 I can turn off caller ID for that call. So if I'm calling 212-555-1212 I'd dial *67-212-555-1212. This is the same code that I'd use to disable caller ID from my home phone.
Edit: Of course if you're not in North America I have no idea whether any of the above holds true or not.

GSM carriers should support all the mentioned services, plus, if this is the case, you can request your carrier to allways OMIT your number (Except when calling to the police and so on, or where it is mandatory by law in certain cases)
Should your carrier do not support this service, most networks support enabling/disabling this feature on the fly, but be aware THIS IS NOT YOUR PHONE OPTION, IT'S YOUR CARRIER'S who support the feature.

I am in the USA (NYC), using Cingular. When I let my Tytn use the UMTS bands, I get the following message from Cingular when I call my own cell phone number (or hold down '1' to call voice mail):
"The number you dialed is not a working number."
I can send and recieve other calls, sms, etc... Once I set the band to use GSM only, calling my number correctly brings me to voice mail.
My SIM card is a 64k 3G card.
Any clue what the problem is?

Have you programmed Speed Dialing to 1? In order to call to your voice mail (Cingular) you have to program your phone to dial +1 (806) 252 9009 when you press 1. YOu can program it by opening PhonePad ->Menu->Speeddial. I hope it'll help
caller id doesn't work
I changed the VM as you suggested. Interestingly, it doesn't recognize that I am calling from my cell phone, and asks me for my 10-digit phone number. I have now confirmed this happens either in GSM or UTMS Mode. Is that the normal behaviour? The VM feature works when calling the cell number from the cell phone (in GSM mode).
When I called home from my cell phone the caller ID was properly displayed. IE: that information is properly being sent. but I think the problem is internal to Cingular services.

Hi, i am still searching for a windows mobile based smartphone tool which is able to ingnore the "unknown number" flag (bit) from a calling party (sending cell phone).
I know that the CLIP information is present during each gsm based phone call but if the "unknown number" flag is activated by the caller for such a call the called party (receiving cell phone) is checking the status of this flag and shows if this flag is activated "unknown number" instead of the phone number of the calling person.
I want to see the number of such a caller which wants to call my mobile phone with a restricted number (CLIR activated).

Could someone provide me pointers with how actually a incoming call is routed on the cdma network.
What I want to figure out is issue with cloned phones.
Now when I have my cloned phones connected to the same tower, they both ring when an incoming call comes in?
But when they are connected to different towers only one rings, what determines which one does?
Is it possible to have only one of them ring i.e. the other ignores any incoming calls?
Maybe have the secondary phone not show itself on the network, unless it needs to make a call (voice or data)?
What about call waiting? When another incoming calls comes in when one is in session, would prefrentially go the the phone which is active or could it go to either?
Has anyone any experience of extensive testing of having two (or more) phones on a network?

I purchased an HD2 from Europe when they 1st came out, signed up with T-Mobile (a few Monthe later) to see how I'd like it as a phone (intended on using it as a PDA initially) and them dropped the T-Mobile service after about 4 Months.
Question is, will the phone still connect to 911 without a service provider and is a SIM card required to be installed (with or without active service)?

Keep the phone with you. Next time you see an accident, call 911 from it to report it. A legal way to find out if it works or not.

911 service works from any cell phone with or without sim card or service as long as you are within range of a compatible network. Its a law. When you place a 911 call from cellular device it will place call on first available network.
Yes, but 112 is the international standard. Works in any country. Any carrier that has a band your phone supports will route it to the emergency services. I think it goes to the strongest signal, but I don't kwow what happens if your own carrier is present but not the strongest. And 112 calls are never locked (that is, you can always call 112 even when the phone is PIN locked). I'm not sure whether 911 has the same priviledge.

I have recently changed from vodafone to virgin & ported my old vodafone number to new virgin sim.
My phone is showing my virgin number but when people call me on my old number the call comes through but for some reason my voicemail does not kick in when i miss a call a message comes up saying the number you are calling is unavailable.
But when i ring my voicemail it says it is setup & working.
Does the fact that my phone is showing my now cut off virgin number have anything to do with this.
IF SO HOW DO I CHANGE MY NUMBER TO SHOW UP CORRECTLY IN CALL SETTINGS.
