Upgrade PPC2003 ROM for UK XDA on T-Mobile? - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Having cooked up a nice ROM from yorch.net I'm not sure if it'll work yet... Would someone tell me if its 'safe'?
I got the 4.00.05 version (PPC 2003) but doesn't say on yorch.net if its for the US/UK etc.. and want to upgrade it on my XDA device bought in the UK, will this workt? Or is my device never going to work again or pick up a signal in the UK if I do this? I'm currently using my device on T-Mobile network, and don't want to do this if it falls over...
Thanks for the guidance!

Yes if you've cooked the rom it will be safe, as its only the CE ROM. If in future you download a rom from a provider for example, that hasn't been personally cooked, you just need to ensure it doesn't also include a Radio ROM upgrade, as putting one on from the US will damage your device.
HTH
Neil

I did the build of the ROM on yorch.net making the .EXE package, I'm guessing that everything gets installed through Activesync, is that right? Or do I need to manually do some 'work' here?
Thanks for the response!

Asian XDA WM2003 Upgrade

Hi All
I am new to this forum and wanted to upgrade my Asian XDA to WM2003. I try to download the rom in Yorch.net but it doesnt seem to work at all. However i did find this T-mobile ROM Windows Mobile 2003
upgrade 4.00.21. Does this version work for Singapore Singtel Network? Or am i missing something here? I have read most of the forum here and is still quite confused. Can anyone here give a step by step guide on how to upgrade to WM2003 (which version) for ASIAN (especially Singapore) XDA? Pls share your experience.
hi rchtan
If you have not done so yet get the latest official upgrade for yr region and flash the radio this will give you "always on connection" and better stability.
Record all yr network settings as you will need to enter again after.
For WM2k3 Just get the 4.00.05 rom forget the higher numbers as its just the telco adjusting for their particular network and likely to cause more instability if you are not on Tmobile.
Get the installer EXE version and just click on it to install from yr desk top.
Make sure you are connected to activesync and switch off yr radio in case of incoming calls. You can add the extra progs avoiding the ppc2002 marked, forget the imov messanger(Jeff's never worked) you can get a working version fm their web site.
Hope this helps.
Hi alqwerty
Thanks for your reply. Another question which might seem stupid. How do we cook a ROM? I went to this link http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php and if i left the "Add software and modify ROM" as click, there a big red warning sign "OVERLOAD"??!! Is it okay if i just download the base rom?
Hi rchtan
Start with clicking on 4.00.05 ENG ppc2003.
Then move from top to bottom clicking on what progs you need and unclicking those that you dont want(especially unclick all the ppc2002 marked ones). until the overload sign goes away. Then click on
installer EXE then click on build rom now. When its
cooked download the rom. Good luck

UK 02 4.0.0.x PPC2003

Hi ya fellas.
I upgraded my XDA 02 UK pda to 4.00.05 and am fairly happy with its stability. A few probs with the backlight going off, but nothing much really. Windows Media 2003 is class.... encoding films with windows media codec 9 is a joy and they work every time...no codec conflictions, cache settings etc, and the quality is cool.
However, i wish to get a plain (i.e. No added cooked programs) ROM.
I could use Yorchs kitchen to cook up a plain 4.00.05 ROM again, but would rather give 4.0.0.16 ago. It's labled as a T-Mobile USA rom... I however have a UK o2 model xda. If i download the GSM 800/1800 changer utility with it, should it work ok?
Also, will this ROM update my radio stack. I'm currently running 4.21 (the official latest update for o2 uk xda's)... i dont mind if it does update it, but compatability wise, what odds am i running of it working ok?
Ive got an SD reader/writer and have a backup of my old rom just in case i need to go back via bootloader mode.
Thanks for listening
You XDA-Developers are good people (if a little to smart for my likeing
Tony Kett.
probably none since you're only updating ROM and not radio stack.
the cleanest method is obviously using the SD.
btw ... can we have your ROM to look at ?
Thanks
Decebal
my Rom (4.00.05) is just the one thats on the yorch site (with extra apps etc).
>probably none since you're only updating ROM and not radio stack.
- So if i update to 4.00.16 from yorch's site, theres no Radio stack upgrade? and the t-mobile USA version of this 4.00.16 (thats presented on the site) will only update my OS?
http://www.yorch.net/ - if you didnt know btw.
And a bloody good site it is.
So any other O2 UK XDA users upgraded to 4.00.16 or above? (4.00.21)?
I know your out there :!:
updating to v4.00.16 in the uk on a uk device will make you loose the ability to use orange/one2one in the xda as 1800mhz will be replaced with a none working 1900mhz
meaing your phone will have a 1800/900mhz radio but 1900/900mhz software which cant control the radio properly.
use v4.00.05 or v4.00.11(best option) so that you can use all uk networks.
4.00.11 ?
where can we get 4.00.11 ?
the rom kitchens :|
th 4.0.0.11 rom is not available on Yorch Kitchen.
It was on Jeff's Kitchen but the site is down.
Could some one upload the rom 4.0.0.11 on a server to share??
regards,
Yann
gazzaman2k... exactly the answer i was looking for. Cheers Mate.
Now to find a 4.00.11 Rom
Your right, yorch doesnt have that one. Anyone fancy hosting it.... or if possible, email me it at [email protected]
Cheers People,
Tony
So I take it that its not possible to change the 1900/900 to 1800/900 on those newer t-mobile roms (4.0016 & above)? No changer utility? Cant do it in the bootloader :?:
Dammit.
Just out of curiosity, what is the latest unofficial radio stack that people in the UK are using.
The 4.21 official one has been out for quite a while now, but ive seen no unofficial updates to this :?:
Tony
Ajektt, ther is an official update to the 4.21 Radio Stack it's the 4.21.X1
I have it installed, I don't see mutch difference, maybe a better signal mesure.
Doese some one have the 4.00.11 Rom?? I could host it if some one sends it.
Yann
actually with 4.00.21 comes 6.24.00 RSU.
Who wants it ... pm me ... or you can find it at yorch's site.
I need the 4.00.11 too.
Decebal
decebal, we are talking about o2 uk xda compatible radio stacks and os.
4.00.21 and 6.24 RSU Uses 1900/900 GSM ranges, not 1800/900 from what i've been told above in the forum.
Tony
will people pack it in emailing me for v4.00.11 yeah i have it but its cooked especially for my xda meaning the ecurity rom was cooked also  if i had a plain version id be happy to share but as i dont i wont share the version i got as the rom contains my name+details and phone numbers ect.... hence why i havent uploaded it to my webspace and shared
Thank you gazzaman2k!! We understand you can't share your cooked version.
Maybe Jeff still hase in his archive an uncooked 4.00.11 version of the rom?
Could Yorch include it in his kitchen??
Dose some one has a uncooked version or a cooked version of the 4.00.11 rom with out the security option?
fair enough gazza 8)
We need to harass Yorch to get it up on his superb kitchen. I think we have our work cut out though, because he's getting requests left, right and centre for things on there, which is pretty harsh on him (and his team)
If anyone does manage to get the nbf file, so i can dump it in an .exe install that would be great
for all those concerned about the ROMs on Yorch.net:
Well, for those who know me know that I am about to get married in 2 months, and I just moved with my fiancee to a new apartment. Before moving, I sold EVERYTHING, that includes my 3 desktops pc (including my main PC), and my desk. Since my the new apt, is not that big, I chose not to buy me a desktop, but a laptop, by the way, the laptop that I just bought is the HP pavillion zd7000 series custom made for me  , 3.06ghz of sheer power....arhhh, arhhhh, arhhh <----[trying to imitate Tim Allen]
Anyway, you problably know what that means, right, I've been without a home PC for the last 2 weeks, and I'm scheduled to recieve my new laptop by next week (hopefully), so no changes to the websites, and no changes, really, if you can get smart people to figure out the changes for me, I'm sure I could do them online or from my work computer, but in the meanwhile, I can't do anything......so stop harrasing me with the 4.00.11 rom already! 8) .
hahaha
Consider the harrisment stopped.
Enjoy your move... i moved 2 weeks ago and im still aching

If anyone can host the 4.00.11 Rom, i can send it via Email.
Got it in nb1 format, so it should work.
Played few weeks ago little bit with the kitchen, but didn´t get it really working. Maybe because my computer is too slow.
Regards
Stefan
can we get the 4.00.11 plain rom out of the nb1 file (nbf?)?
If so we should then be able to cook another rom on yorch's site (i.e. a 4.00.05 one), build it as an .exe. Then once we have the exe, we should be able to drop the 4.00.11 file in to replace the 4.00.05 one that we cooked...no?
But can u extract stuff from nb1's?

Help for a Newbie!

Hey, I am new here....
I have had mt ATT SX56 for 2 months and am fed up and switching to Tmobile. I'd love to be able to use this phone with the T-Mo service.
From reading these forums I tried to use the XDAUnlock.exe, but that didn't do anything because an error message showed up. So now, I went and purchased a serial cable.
I don't know what to do next. I would optimally like the WM 2003 on the phone after I update it, and I'd like the phone optimized for T-mobile.
If someone would point me in the right direction by giving me some instructions of what to download, where, and what the process is, I would really appreciate it. I know I have to cook my own ROM, etc....but which one? And how?
Thanks!!!!!!
Brad
If XDAunlock.exe didn't work, then the best start point is to flash your ROM with the XDA-developers ROM 3.17 and it will unlock your XDA with the first booting. Next, you can cook any 2003 ROM you like and flash your XDA again.
For the RSU, if the current Radio version didn't get the signal in your area, most propably you will need to upgrade your RSU to TMO 6.24
You can get the ROM from http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php
And you can get the RSU from www.yorch.net "upgrades"
In all cases, you better to do SD backup of the current versions.
Good luck ...
OK-
Finally got the XDA unlocked with the SER. Thank you XDA Developers!!!!! Now I have a useless serial cable. Oh well, I'll take that over my other options..
Is it normal that the SER increased my reception? I now have signal in my house whereas I did not before. Also, I seem to have lost all possibility of connecting to the internet. How do I get this back? What do I do in the connection settings?
In any event, now that I did that, exactly what rom base do I cook if I want PPC Mobile 2003? 4.00.05 PPC 2003, 4.00.10 Tmo, or 4.00.16 Tmo?
Thanks!!!!!!
OKey DOke-
One last question...I have upgraded to the Regular ppc 2003 rom.
Phone works, internet doesn't. How do I set this up?

Changing ROMs problem...

I recently put a yorch.net ROM on my XDA, but then found a newer T-Mobile ROM from the forums, this one being from the Netherlands, now this is a 'safe' ROM for me to use, as I'm on t-mobile and same freq. band. But it won't upgrade, just fails :x is there any fix? I was looking at putting it onto the SD but its an .exe file and I'm stumped as to how I can flash it,...
Any ideas?
Cheers
how it fails ? ... what error msg you got ?
plz tell your device info as well
Using the RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe file
It cannot make a change to my ROM that I've installed from yorch.net. What I want is a European (english) T-mobile ROM to change the yorch.net one. The upgrade just stops saying 'error' then suggest I reset device (which I did)
I'm using an XDA 1 (from O2) but on T-mobile network
does this make sense?

Are you sure, that this is a rom for the XDAI looks a little bit like a rom for the new XDAII....
Which filesize do this one have?
HTH
Stefan
why do you need a 'safe' ROM ? ... what's your current ROM version and what type of issues you have ?
Btw, there is no such stable WM2003 yet ... even the latest of t-mobile 4.01.00 still have some bugs (minor tho)
In that case I'll stick with my current cooked rom!
thanks for the advice

New kitchen on line

http://xda.weblink.net
Hah, worked straight away and it's fast. Well done!
Showing the Server stats is a nice touch.
getting realy busy latetly..
I counted up to 20 rom's burning at the same time.... 8)
The only problem the bandwith is going bit down
Enjoy while you can...
Makis, I noticed the new appeal for donations.
I might have considered a donation if you hadn't blatantly plagarized the appeal for donations from the xda-developers page. Given that a large amount of your traffic must originate from here, couldn't you think up an original appeal?
Post a reply here when you've updated the page.
PDH
I didnt see any copyright notice on the xda developers donations invitation :?:
That's not my point.
New Kitchen Online
This new kitchen ROCKS! I would gladly have donated but the link to do so isn't working. I got a cooked ROM that gave me EXACTLY what I wanted AND my Internet Explorer is working again AND I still have an excellent signal. THANK YOU TO THIS ROM KITCHEN!
I'll check back periodically to see if the donations link is working. 40 euros ($50 USA) is worth it after what I've experienced!
Can XDA2 allso do this !
as subject . thanks
WM2003
Hey guys,
Which version of WM2003 does NOT have the t-mobile features built in? I've tried 4.01.16 and it rocks except it has a lot of these t-mobile builtin functions (such as it's internet explorer connections being designed for t-mobile) which doesn't work for me since I have an O2 XDA and use it in the Philippines though at the same time I don't want to give up the benefits of having WM2003. Which version ROm should I get? WM2003 4.01 BETA?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
4.01.00 has the Tmobile stuff in it as well. I think 4.00.16 doesn't, but one thing you lose is the Settings menu to choose 1900 or 900 MHz band. You can change this in the boot menu, but in my experience this sometimes leads to a cold boot.
For the past 6 months I've been running 4.00.11 ROM with 6.18.00 Radio,
that was cooked in one of the Kitchens. I use it on T-Mobile USA network and have run it throughout Asia. It is mostly excellent. 3 questions:
1. The original details about the T-Mobile upgrade stated it runs LANDSCAPE mode on the fly. I really want the upgrade, mainly for this feature. This feature no longer is advertised. Is it in the upgrade?
2. There is a rom kitchen listed in this forum that has the new ROM 4.01.16 listed as a choice. Does anyone know iif this version is the newest T-Mobile version or just an earlier beta? Does this version have Landscape mode?
3. The original ROM kitchens discussed how thier cooked roms were less memory intensive than official ROMs because they eliminated some kind of T-Mobile architecture. Does anyone rmember what this was and if it is still true?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Band changing with t-mobile software
Just out of curiousity, is the hardware for t-mobile and XDA exactly the same? I mean can I actually switch the band to the US frequency when I'm there and get my phone to work there?

I´m using the German official release of the t-Mobile ROM (4.00.33).
It doesn´t support the landscape mode. :-(

As much as i know, the 4.01.16 is the latest and the official version from T-Mobile in US. I don´t think, that it supports the landscape mode

I think the great differance between original ROMs and cooked Roms is, that the free space in the ROM can be used for own programs and the programs will still be on the device after a hard reset....
