imate working and screen turned off - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi,
I like moto-travelling and i have 2 questions...
1) Is posible to reduce the power of the bluetooth?? because in 2 hours de batery is down.
2) Is posible to turn off the screen without power off the pda?? I would like to have tom tom working with my gps bluetooth but i dont need to see the screen, because i only need to hear the voice...
Thanksss

If you turn off the backlight you'll accomplish most of the advantage you'd gain by turning the screen off. I get a few hours of use on my XDAI witha GPS when I turn the backlight off.

Ok, thanks, i'll try it

there is an application out there called screenoff you can find it at handango i think
Regards

found this on emule works like a treat assign it to a button on your xda then itll turn the screen off and just press power button to turn back on.
works fine on ppc2002/3 great lil program just copy to your xda and try out

Please help with tomtom backlight

Hello,
I've got a HTC Wizard (T-mobile Vario - Dutch) with TomTom Navigator and have a problem with tomtom..
When using tomtom the blacklight stays on. Since i do not have a car charger the battery of the wizard is running low very fast.
The most ideal setting i had on my C500 (typhoon) with TomTom mobile. If tomtom gave me an instruction (for example turn right in 200 Meters) the blacklight turned on for 30 seconds an then turned off again. and so on...
Is there a possibility to get exactly these settings, or even just turn the blacklight off..
I have already searched and read about this topic on xda-developers but all the things i tried didn't work out..
Please help me with a step by step instruction..
Thanks in advance..

Can please someone help...
have got tom tom runnng n my Wizard and my C500.
dont thnk that you can get the back lght to turn off as a opton on the Wizard i have tred lookng everywhere
Whilest the backlight "keep alive" used to be an option in TTN3 i cant find any options for it in 5. the only 2 things i can suggest are:
Check your wizard backlight settings (start/settings/system/backlight)
And if its set correctly & set to turn off backlihgt after xx min then i'd suggest a "restore factory settings" in tomtom.
Mine definatly follows the wizard defaults, ie low brightness & then backlight off on batter, or full bright on external power.
Sorry its not much help :-/
Anyway thanks for the input,
Maybe someone else with a maybe better option?

Been playing about whilst windows updates, fraid i was mistaken.
If the backlight goes off before tomtom loads, it stays off (until you touch the screen & wake the device) but once TTN5 has loaded it stays at the settings the pda uses whilest awake (ie dim but on for bat or bright on charge). The only way i got the backlight to turn off was to turn it off in the backlight settings page.
sry for the mis info, i was sure it'd powered off on me before!

App to turn it OFF?

Is there an app or something that can turn the device completely off? I hate this alway on mode that WM insists on :?
Cheers
btw. using a qtek9000
Why do you want it completely off?
I think that's normal for pocket pcs isn't it? I know the XDA2 was the same. Feels weird at first but you get used to it.
Putting it in flight mode then turning the screen off is the closest you can get. Or you can take the battery out to turn it off completely, but that's just ball ache

Well, sometimes I don't use it for a few days, so I'd like it off...
If I take the battery out, then out it back in, it stays off until the power button is pressed, that's the kind of app I'd like. Like psshutXP, but that really turns it off...
Maby there's no way to do this though

Yea, I'm used to it, having owned a few different PPC's, I just figured that a device that doesn't lose all info when the battery runs out should have a proper off button
I am not sure but maybe u can take a look at SkSchema (commercial).
A lot of functions including POWER OFF but I!m a user of Wizard (has off function itself) so nor sure works for u

VJEschaton can turn it off (it's never quite off, but close enough), using the option -sleep

Press the power button several seconds and you will see a popup showing ...."the pda will turn off". Then your pda will be completly turned off (no phone, no energy, etc)

Not on my QTek9000, all that does is turn the backlight off...

Turn Display on/off or Change Standby Settings

Hi everyone,
last month I owned an T-Mobile MDA Vario 2 and I'm very happy about this decision
Ok but now my question/problem:
I use my Vario as a Skype/ICQ Station too
When I'm @home or @business I dock the Vario to the DockingStation and turn it into standby (one short click on the on/off button).
In this mode I can get calls and sms, but WLAN turns off and Skype/ICQ are not working anymore.
So I change the settings for the backlight, so that goes off after one minute. But I think this isn't a good solution, because of attrition.
So my Question is now: How could I change the Standby Setting, so that WLAN keeps active in Standby-Mode like the Phonefunctions?
Oh and sorry for my english^^
I will very happy if anyone knows what to do, because so I can use my Vario as a Skype-Phone or Messenger-Center
Thx for help.

If you want to keep your phone alive. Only when using Skype there is a setting for this under Skype. Now as long as you keep skype on the PPC will not turn off [so ICQ will not be disconnected] as for the screen you can use various freeware applications that turn off the screen but the device is still on. Off the top of my head you can try, Screensaver.exe from PHM PocketPC Power Toys, Christoph's deltaLOCK, or pshutXP [use Google to find them] do remember that if your docking station has no power then your device will continue to consume power.

The Skype Settings does forbid the auto-standby, but screens appears still on.
But psShutXP works perfect, thank you very much
If there any Solution withoud 3third Party Software let me know

ah you want the screen off but the device on... I use Screensaver component from PHM PocketPC Power Toys [I copied the EXEs to my notebook after installation, uninstalled, then copied back to my PPC] I made a shortcut to it in NewMenu so I am just 2 button presses away from an off screen, and one press away to activate it again [center dpad button]

Hi All...
I would like to set any program (each one i want...) not to switch off following the normal settings of my pocket pc...
Example:
When you start Tom Tom, your screen remains turned on, even if you set 1,2,3... minutes after then your screen must normally switch off...
So, i'd like a solution to set any program like TomTom and make my screen stay turned on untill i close that program.
Please can anybody help me???

I'd like to set any program (TomTom do the same thing by default!!!) deciding which one can bypass the power settings remaining with the light screen on!!!
But not all program, just the one i decide!!!
So.... i can i set my pocket pc to do this??? And how TomTom works doing this by default???

app to turn on an off device

would there be an application that will turn on the device when it's OFF. Reason behind this is that my power button wasn't working anymore so I need an app to turn on my phone. Apparently, my alternate route is using AE button plus for turning off, and to turn on my phone is that I have to take out the stylus, but I noticed that it used to consume battery usage...if I take it out on the second time it will eat up 2% of the battery usage...and I had even tried using the switch display off/on with the AE button plus but it will make my usage with my phone for upto 8 complete hours only....before I can even use my phone upto 12-14 hours...
if not an application, maybe remapping or registry hack will help..
please I need some help..
thanks in advance
anyone who could share or help.....thanks
What type is ur pda? Do u mean turn on from COMPLETELY turn off?
Go to Start,Settings,System,Key Lock and set it to "Do not lock buttons".
This way, any button press on any button will wake the device. You might want to lock it before switching off so you don't dial people by mistake.
iam using HTC diamond and currently have the SUN 6.1 with 2.5 manila version, but it seems that the keylock doesn't work properly on that ROM
thanks for all your help, just asking some other options here
