Good and bad news from down under - OK, the good ones first:
The O2 XDA II arrived in down under as well And I would say it's the best thing since sliced bread - no, it's even better than that 8) Only problem so far is that It's sometimes a bit difficult to keep it in my sweaty hand while I sit - at 35 degrees in the shade on this lovely Christmas day - in the garden.
I have one problem though. I looked very envious on this O2 Active screen that tekguru refered to in his preview at http://www.tekguru.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=468

but my Australian version doesn't have that and it's not on the CD either Hm, is there any other way I could get this? Or is there any tool to place Internet shortcuts on my Today screen? Right now I use tdLaunch, but I didn't find a way to use it for URLs...
G'Day & Merry Christmas,
Don't know how you can get the O2 Active but here's a suggestion on accomplishing similar ability using TDLaunch. There are two ways actually :
Option 1
Create a button in TDLaunch and use the following details :
Name : Whatever you would like your link to appear as...
File Path : \Windows\iexplore.exe
Command Line : www.yourURLhere.com
Options 2 :
Create a favorites entry to your URL using Pocket Internet Explorer. Lets call it YourFavorite.
Create a button in TDLaunch and use the following details :
Name : Whatever you would like your link to appear as...
File Path : \Windows\Favorites\YourFavorite.url
Either one will give you what you want and open your default connection to Internet and load the URL. I found the first option to be somewhat more reliable. Don't know why.
Hope this helps. Regards.
Good on ya, mate! That does the trick...
Happe New Years as well
Hey guys it would be great if we had some screen shots to go along with this great TDLaunch tip! 8)
Farnold, glad to see it worked for you.
Qman, will post some screen shots later today.

hi, does anyone know how to remove the o2 software from a xda2.
thanks in advance
It's all about using the SEARCH BUTTON first...............
... But as I'm in a good mood, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=107499#107499
Did it on my Alpine, worked a treat.

Hello there,
Don't know if this has been answered somewhere before, tired search but it didn't come up with anything.
Is there a registry hack that will allow the date on the Today Screen to be displayed on one line rather the the two it uses now? i.e:
Tuesday 21 March 2006
instead of
Tuesday
21 March 2006
Cheers
wisbar advance 2 keeps the time on the today screen. and with the vga skins looks pretty amazing
Thanks,
But I am happy with the way my kit works and I don't want to add anything else to the pot.
There must be a way to change the way the date is displayed.
Write your own Today Screen plugin...
I used to use JGui's "Zodiac Today" or "Date Today "
Works nicely, Zodiac Today was the neatest afaik (1 short line with date)
But i started useing D25 yesterday...
D25?
Has anyone got any idea how to do this?
I did this; and it worked but don't ever remember it being on two lines.
1) Go to the HKLM\nls\Overrides key.
2) Add a String value called "SLDte" if it does not already exist.
3) Set the value to a valid date format (ie for "Tuesday 8 February 2005" use "dddd d MMMM yyyy")
Found it on this forum ages ago - I think.

Rick - yeah, that'll change the long date format.. won't make it not use two lines, though?
Zeboxx
I'm missing something here. My date is on one line !
Rick GM,
Are you using the latest Imate ROM? Because the 2 line date and day format plus time at the right hand corner is on the NEW Imate ROM today plug-in.
heres my today screen, with all toys installed. working like a charm, its just a shame soti hasent upped itself with a nice vga icon yet so its since been removed
oui, like "cktlcmd" said - 'tis an AKU2 ROM issue; they changed it. It's on 1 line on mine as well, but that's because I'm using ROM version 1.very.old.rom
Mystery solved and question now understood - but no answer I'm afraid. I'm using Orange 1.13.49
Is it possible to pull the old date Today Screen plugin from an old Rom and use that in the new one?
If so, could someone post it and i'll give it a try.
Cheers
Hi Folks!
First of all apologies... I have searched for this but can't find it.
Brand new to the O2 XDA Mini S (4 days).
I have downloaded some skins for use with wisbar advance 2, but when I install them my menubar (top and bottom) doesn't change.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Try this please ::
I have attached a skin file <Vista Dreams >(Zipped Folder)
Simply Right Click to Extract all Files to ur Pc.
Now U have a folder <Vista Dreams > with many files including the skin file.
Simply Copy this entire folder (unzipped Folder) to ---
Program Files\Lakeridge\WisBar Advance\Themes
I hope this shall solve ur problem.
Do let me know if it doesn't..
we've only just begun
By the way..All the best with your Five Day old MiniS Matt
Great!
Thanks very much for that, I got there!... Although I have to be honest, I don't think I did it the way you advised. I extracted the files and sent the folder to my synchronise folder on my pc. I then imported the files on the XDA and the menu bars changed. The background hasn't though!?
Can I be a real pain and ask you just to jot down some idiot (and I mean IDIOT) proof instructions on how to do it properly please?
I love gadgets but am a COMPLETE buffoon when it comes to doing anything with them!!
Very much appreciated.
Matt
(by the way) may not be back on-line till Sunday evening (13th) - working shifts and all that!!. )
Hang on just thought - Got my XDA for going on-line! Told you I was a BUFFOON!

Hi guys, it's been a while since I last posted on this board.
I have recently moved from XP Home Edition to Vista Ultimate. The experience so far is quite good (the fact that my laptop has an ATI X1600 graphics card and 1GB of RAM does help, although more RAM would be even better).
One thing that I am not satisfied with is the dull device icon in Windows Mobile Device Center (reminds me of the HP H4150):

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

I thought there might be a way of changing it to something more interesting - well, say to a picture of our lovely HTC Universal?
Google gave me this: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/sams...s-mobile-device-center-picture-icon-hack.html
mrailing (a.k.a Michael) of pdaphonehome.com gets the full credit for this. The instructions start on post #3, but as I am typing now there are no Universal icons available on that page yet, so you can get the zipped icons here first (see attachment - I currently have the white prototype, black O2 xda Exec and i-mate JasJar), and then proceed to Michael's page.
It should be a very straight forward tweak, and works for both WM5 and WM6, so enjoy!
P.S.: don't worry, it won't turn your Windows Mobile Device Center into Chinese.
P.P.S.: if you want your own version of icon to be made, I am happy to convert it to .ico for you, as long as it is at least 256px by 256px large, preferably with a solid colour background.
Many people have said that they still couldn't see the icon. May I remind you that you must UNINSTALL THE DRIVER first right after you have copied the icon to your device, unplug it and plug it back in. You should get it then.
Read the instructions on the website carefully!
HTC Shift
Hey Everybody,
could someone be kind enough to make a icon for the HTC Shift please?
Thanks

NumBattery allows the default Windows Mobile cell battery 4 show icon (left) retirement, which can show a percentage figure (right) with an accuracy of up to 1% of the battery at all times concerned about the consumption of friends should be useful.
【Installation】: the installation of cell phone to NumBattery.cab memory, restart the phone to see results; if there is no change, uninstall, install a QVGA.cab install, restart your phone.

very nice! I've been looking for this for a while. I'd rather have an independent icon on my taskbar than one replacing the start icon, so this is a great replacement for ArielBattery. Thanks!
Great idea, unfortunately does not work on my HTC Elfin.
Can someone host this somewhere other than ziddu? I can't connect from work (not sure if the site is down or blocked).

Thank you, good sir
awesome! love it.
It doesn't show the number in my P535. The icon is actually changed.
Not working on Samsung i760. Tried both cabs, the numbattery didn't do anything, the QVGA one changed the icon to a solid white one, but no numbers at all. Is there a configuration file to change or something?
Also, it wiped out my background picture of my today screen. Had to set it back up...
does not seem to work on my verizon touch pro
Did not work on my Treo 750 with WM6.0
after installing cab and restarting, I had a second battery icon (that looked like your original from the picture above, vertical lines), but no numbers.
Thanks anyway...
lol... working on polaris... thankfully
Does not work on Samsung Epix (i907).
Why does the thread opener has been banned?
If i´m right, i think he had "stolen" the battery-icon-gauge from another forum-member, and posted it her as his creation.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424926
Great it worked in my TyTn II. Thanks for your effort bro. I am loving it.

Hi,
Menu=>Remove Quick Links..remove the top 3 Quick Links (which will always be the 3 that appears in your Home page).
You now have 3 empty Quick link boxes to assign new apps to.
Hope that's what you're after..

It's not under the start menu. It's under "Menu", the bottom-right softkey.
Really thank you!

Hi there,
There are total 9 quick links, 3 x 3 rows,
2 x 3 hidden below, just use your finger flip the 1 row upwards . . .
ok so how is it possible to remove the calender and quick links area from the home screen...i dont need them and i want to free up space on my home screen...
OK - slightly related question. I have just (this afternoon) got an HD2 on Virgin UK and so far I'm very happy. I'm trying to change the buttons and have found the delete area etc and can change them BUT the third button on the main screen seems to be locked to Virgin Media. Does anyone know of a way to change this?
