After I updated my XDA to WM2003, I can't seem to use a operator logo like I could using PPC2002....
I tried editing the registry and using a carrierlogo.gif but both methods don't work anymore.
Can someone please tell me how this can be done under WM2003?
Thanks in advance,
Max
Which ROM did you upgrade to also did you do a RS update with it?
just run T-Mobile Phone Book program, you need to run it at least once.
After the Phone Book program can load all contact from your sim, your carrier logo will appear.
No luck here......
Did you use the carrierlogo.gif, of did you edit the registry?
edit the registry... i remember there was a post about how to do it...
does the operator logo work on XDA II ??
I am using a qtek rom 1.60
It work on XDAII also. But seems some problems with that.
1. You can not get "real "white background of the gif file.
2. carrier logo high limited 20/21 pixels. Too small too see the logo.
3. Logo only appeared in dial interface and incall interface.
I had test it on my XDAII last night.

Hi Fellow XDAers,
I have just got an MDA Compact (T mobile but unocked) but cannot find out how to change the telephone skin, even to windows standard. On my XDA2 I had this as an option, but win mobile 2003 second edition doesn't seem to have it. Can anyone help me find it or point me at a downlaod site?
Thanks

Skins for the phone
Try these nice app.
And see for yourself..
the first one contains two skins; exctract and copy-paste the folders into "Skin" folder after you install xdaskinchooservp.exe to your JAM
The guys did a fanatastic job, didn't they?
I've some at my site.
Using these on my Magician device too.
Cheers
Candy red phone skin is superb, thanks
Hello,
As a none techie, I am very grateful for your help and assistance in providing some skins. The candy apple red is my favorite! Nowinstalled and will stay there.
Many thanks

sorry guys, but dont u have a problem with original skin? i mean when i press number button i can see original skin of the button instead of installed. am i the only one? thanx in advance
The depressed button always reverts to the default. This is held in a dll file called tapres.dll. The software does not modify the dll so the pressed button will always appear as default.

The smartdialer in my MDA Pro is colored red, while the phoe dialer skin is blue. This does not look very nice. For some reason T-Mobile like to give the MDA Pro a real T-Mobile look and feel, including T-Mobile dialer skin and smartdialer skin.
The Qtek 9000 ROM however should have the smartdialer skin in the original blue color.
@dreamtheater39,
I notice you are from India. How much did you purchase the Jasjar for from there in Bangalore? Its great that you get this stuff in India so fast, only downside being its friggin expensive there!!!
Skin Remover
Hi,
I am no programmer or so, but I tried to remove the skin from T-mobile.
Maybe someone likes.
It removes the carrier logo and the T-Mobile colors.
The only thing I cannot remove is the color of the VIDEO-button.
Copy to your MDA-PRO and install to the device, not the storage-card.
Try it out, you can uninstall again.
Best regards
Mike
I guess all of you got my question wrong!!!
I was asking if someone could extract the exes for the smart dialer phone application from the universal, and not the skins!
@universaldoc
I do not have a universal (as yet!), i'm waiting for someone to be able source it from a non-gray market channel here...!
However, i have an xda2 and a xda mini with me....
Thanks everyone for your replies!

Thank you for your utility. The point is that I only want to remove the T-Mobile logo from my dialer (= carrierlogo.gif in WIndows directory). Could you give me an idea how to copy a new carrierlogo.gif to this directory or even remove it completely? Now I can not remove or overwrite anything in my WIndows Directory.
Thanks
You have only to copy an empty file named carrierlogo.gif to your windows directory... a 0 byte file
Thats all

Then inverted images in photoshop.
works on my qtek 9100.
Can't get smart dial to work, but i can live without it.

WORKS FLAWLESS!
Is the smart dialing still working with this skin? I just love that app...
They say not to install on Wizard...
You installed the ETEN dialer?
installed, changed the bitmap (inverted colors).
it works, but not intellidialer.
Then it`s a no go 4 me
procedure:
1) install E-TEN_M600_Dialer_Skin.cab on PPC
2) copy each Pcv*.bmp from Windows directory of PPC to your PC;
3) open each bmp file with MS Paint and invert colors (this is only for the aspect, not the functionality):
4) copy the bmp files back to PPC;
5) softreset.
*) the speed of the dialer is the same
*) I don't know a rollback operation different from harderesetting;
Can you give me the link for the CAB?
follow the link at the beginning of the thread.
Yes, ok thanks
It works perfectly....
I think that the only way to go back without an hard reset is to bring back the registry key pointing at the .dll
no Smart Dialing
How would i go about changing the the main colour. I did'nt really want a blue dialer.
cheers
these are the grafic file. do what you want to the colours but don't rename or change size or format.
originals before colours inverted if you're partial to orange
works on Dopod 838,
it's a beauty, very helpful when you use to dial with yr fingers instead of the stylus
THKS GUYS
Does this work on iMate Jam?
or can somebody help convert it into Jam's pad

Give it a try, you'll have to hard reset if it don't work as i don't know how to uninstall. but i was so fed up with the the standard small buttons on wm5 i just didn't care.
use this cab file to install cos it puts every thing where it should go and sorts out the registry setting.
http://buzzdev.net/components/com_simpleboard/uploaded/files/E-TEN_M600_Dialer_Skin.cab
Maybe if you backup the registry first and then if you don't like it just restore it back, may work as uninstall
Do you think this will work on qtek 9090?
thx
If anyone wants orange skin in italian...
I made these...
I've got an XDA Mini, but installed using the corporate install - no O2 rubbish.
I used the registry hack to change the dialpad back to the original WM5 one, but now the smartdialler thing won't work. I've changed back to the O2 one and it works again.
Any suggestions to get smartdialler working with the WM5 dialpad?
Cheers.
The extended Rom contains additional configuration and registry settings as a CAB. I reset mine without the O2 stuff then ran Smartdialing_enable_0915_signed.CAB from the extended rom directory. Restart the device after that and you've got the smart dialler back (well thats how it worked for me anyway!).
Does not work. It is possible more in detail?
I think will not work!
I Have a T-Mobile MDA Vario, chnge registry too because don't like T-Mobile Dialer skin, and smartdialer not work anymore... same as bsterngillet.
Now I change ROM to Qtek and work dialer and smartdialer WM5 default... and is much light = speed!

When you say not working, do you mean the .CAB file is not there or that nothing happens when you run it?
If it isn't there I could post my copy to the internet but other than that I am only going on my experiences with UK ROM's I'm afraid! On another thread, user 'Plantagoo' has cleared up what the CAB files do more so it may be that your device does not have the smartdialler program (I'm just guessing here!).
Where to take Smart Dialing for Pocket PC ver. 2.2?
Hey, I was wondering if I could run the HTC home plugin http://freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-htc-home-plugin-v1-0.html and the Black WM6 theme http://freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-black-wm6-theme.html on my I-Mate K-Jam. I have Windows Mobile 5 on it, and it says those 2 programs are for WM6. Does anyone know if they will work on WM5?
i tried it...seems that the theme works fine its just the htc doesn't like my phone..
yeah it works
At least it worked for me on my Tmobile MDA (Qtek 9100) - I got original HTC theme (gray color) and HTC Home plugin - works just perfect.
btw i got wm5
Why do people not just try and install it and see if it works , without filling up the forums with more topics of no use to anyone. I am even adding to the clutter by complaining
On my MDA Vario HTC plugin doesent work, but I have windows mobile 2005
htc home plugin does work on 2005 i had it running on my wizard, just cant remember which version it was. If i remember i will post here and let you know
How does the Home plugin work? When installed, nothing happened. In the HTCHome folder, there are only a bunch of images and just 2 files, HTCHome.dll and HTCHome.dll.0409.mui. How do you run this program?
I made this topic because I didn't want to install it and find out it screwed up my phone.

You need the home customizer to make it work, run the customizer to setup how you want the home to be. I hope this helps.
I searched and I found this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=319308
When I tried to install this, I got an error message and it asked me to install in a different location. Both directly to the device and to the storage card didn't work. Is there a version specifically for the Wizard?
I also get this message, help please?
