Yea you can do it with the XDATools program!
For more info. on XDATools read:

Download site:

normally an .nbo extension means that the file is the bootloader part, not the Windows CE part.
An .nbo file should hae a size of 256 k, while an .nb1 file is around 32 meg.

my .nb0 file size is 32 MB

I normally have an aversion to blindly changing the extension on files, especially when they are going to be used in a ROM upgrade, but I think you want to change the extension to .nb1. I would suspect that the bootloader wouldn't know what to do with a 32 meg .nb0 file.

i'll try that... thanks

you may also want to check your file using 'splitrom.pl'
it will try to determine what is contained in your file.
to be safe, convert it to a 'sure' nb1 by typing
Code:
perl splitrom.pl yourunknownfile.xxx -wo truenb1.nb1

i'm not familiar with perl scripts and i don't use linux
i'm using win xp
is there a way to do this using win xp?
thanks

Qman... I tried using XDAtools and it didn't work. OSImageTool didn't recognize the file's format.
Any thought?

Thats real strange I just copied an image with the same extension to a SD card without any problem, oh wait I used XDArit 1.0 and not XDATools.
So I'll give XDATools a try when I get off work tonight and post how that went.
BTW the file I used was a boot loader backup ROM and then I used XDArit to copy it from the SD card to hard drive and I named/saved that file as xdarom.nb0 then I used XDArit to write it back to the SD card, bingo no problem!
BTW Toshiro thats why I had ask you to send a copy of that file to see if I could write it disk, but since you didn't I just created one myself and it worked.
Can somebody else give this a try and see if it also works for you.

mkrom questions

Hi,
Just two questions.
1)I runned the Mkrom.sh and when building it it comes with the
error ' operator rom not found' but continues.
Then there's only a .nb1 file build which has a size of 32,243,712.
I don't know if this is correct !????
Is it a problem the operator roms are not found for a working rom???
2) Is it possible to delete, maybe even extract files from an image to
clean it so you get more space for your own programs?
hopefully any can answer these......

There should be both an nbf file of 32505888 bytes and an nb1 file of 32243712 bytes. So the size for the .nb1 seems correct.

I'm not sure I understand the problem enough to be sure. Itsme, who made the tool, has left for a well-deserved two-week holiday, so I guess this will have to wait if you can't figure it out for yourself.

Yes, extraction is possible using the dumprom tool described in another thread. Deletion of files to save space would take some hacking and slashing of your own. We do plan to make some more intricate ROM manipulations more easy once we clean up and publish more tools.
@XDA developer Peter Poelman
I'm glad the size is correct.
Just tried it again and only the .nb1 file is created, not the .nbf !!!
Is it possible to convert a .nb1 to a .nbf file??
Is the XDA ROM Tool able to write to USB SD-card reader/writers?
(could be an option to generate a valid .nbf)
thx
[ I split this topic away from the main Special Edition v1.1 thread, as it's not primarily about that. I will probably start doing this more as topics grow larger. ]
Yes, you can use XDArit to write an nb1 to SD, and then read SD to nbf. Easier tools for this exist, and we've even built the beginnings of one (which we haven't yet released).
If you have the SD, you could also just use the bootloader to burn the contents to flash.

Converting RS-x-xx.bin to RSUpgrade.cp64

OK. I have extracted the the RSU from a t-mobile xda using the xda manipulator expert mode.
Now if only we could figure out how to convert it to an RSUpgrade.cp64 format, then we should be able to use the RSUpgrade.exe utility to flash the GSM rom with the converted file.
Does anyone know how to do this??? :?
Wade
Hmm.. I have no idea but I am in need of GSM ROM. I tried the usual flash method of RSUpgrade utility without any luck and left my xda useless...
can you share your GSM ROM file?
PLease share your GSM ROM file was readed from yout XDA.
I will tell you if there is any conversion to be made and how to.
thaks,

new ROM upgrade with radio_.nbf file
codectelecom: have you cheked this file: http://xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe
I tried to run the program but as usual got the POWER NOT PLUGGED IN error message due to our devices problems, but was wondering if you could study more as the programs consisted of 3 nbf files: ms.nbf, NK.nbf and radio_.nbf.
I extracted the files but was not able to write any of them to the SD card :? neither xda rit nor OSImage tools would accept the files. Is it because they are meant only for xda2?
HAPPY NEW YEAR, BTW

upgrade tp pocketpc2003

Just downloaede the pre-relase of the new t-mobile rom 2003 from yorch.net and expanded it. I got a nk.nbf file. How do i proceed from here on to upgrade my XDAI?
if you want to upgrade using the cattle then you should have chosen the exe flavor
think the nbf is if you are doing it by SD card
where do i get the exe file from?
look here
http://xda-developers.com/DemoKitchen/
for this text
How would you like your ROM?
installer EXE
zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing)
zipped NK.nbf (advanced users)

in the buttom it's a radio button which mean you can change it
if you want an exe then you choose
installer EXE
the same option should be avalible at yorch.net's Kitchen
Sorry, but could not find it at yorch. it only downloads a nbf file nothing else. Suggest you have a look at it. Thank you in advance
http://kitchen.romanweb.com/kitchen/index.php < Its there!! Right at the bottom
I think your downloading the nbf from yorches main page, not building one in the kitchen ?!?

Yorch's ROM Kitchen is not working
The kitchen is MIA, but if you click on the "upgrades" link you can find an original ROM image for AT&T. This is supplied as a .RAR compressed file. Open the .RAR file using WinRAR and extract NK.nbf that is located in the /English folder. You can use XDATools to copy NK.nbf to an SD card and install from the bootloader.

OK I fix the ROM problem and SX56 is like new, but is lock. I can't unlock it with XDAunlock. XDAunlock says : " error getting unlock code "
:-(
Now since you have the NK file of your favorit ROM, goto the kitchen again and upgrade to ROM 3.17 which will unlock your device with the first startup ... then you can reflash your device using the NK file.

How to extract files from ATOM ROM?

As we know, to upgrade ATOM ROM we have to lauch an exe file downloaded from seeo2.com. But we cannot extract any file from this exe file except Boot.nb0 and this file is useless. Does anyone know how to extract other files from it. As I know, there are at least following files inside this exe file:
eboot.nb0
dm.nb0
flash.img
agent.mot
mot.mot
CPLD.img
assetinf.img
extended.img
MDOC.img
Its strange that there is no .nbf file at all. Is there any method to dump the ROM from a working ATOM? Can the Grabit utility grap ATOM ROM to SD? Will it be usable ?
I have dumped it already and uploaded here, but i do not remember are the files you search there.

When you double click the exe file, it will extract files to Windows\Temp foler, files are all hidden.
I'm not sure if this is correct, but I was provided with
Xda-Atom-ENG-20060123_Feb2006_.exe
Double click. This will extract to your root drive
c:\
Device Software Update Utility.exe
diskimage_Ver.nb0
Extendedrom.img
nova_pda_033105.mot
vl1d_pda_Ver.mot
Extendedrom.img can be opened with winimage.
diskimage_Ver.nb0 - can't remember how I dealt with it, but in the "usual" ways I guess! Mamaich's romtools I suppose. Thanks Mamaich!
If anyone can, I could still really do with a live rom dump, using this app:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/!Tools/dump_167.exe
I'm not sure if it works on the Atom, but I'd be grateful if someone could try it and let me know. A couple of nice guys have tried and failed
V
Vijay dear friend..
like i told you before...
the DUMP didn't work..
but you have the lastest rom.
any way, in a week or so, a new rom is about to come out, may the new rom could be dumped...?!?
Nadavi..
Exactly assasins, and I'm really grateful for the info.
I've dumped the rom file above, but a dump from the rom isn't the most useful ways to get files out of it. Some files aren't usable from there, so a live dump is best. But not to worry, I'll live without for now.
Oh, but I could still do with an atom registry dump if someone can send me that... gracias!

dear vijay555
is this suppose to wirk with ETEN M600
it runs ok but I don't no ware it extract files
thanx
I think it extracts them to a folder on your sd card, called Dump.
If you've got an eten dump, I could do with one of those as well.
I didn't write this app - I can't even remember where it came from. If anyone wants to volunteer as the author, I'd like to know more about the app!

Will I think it's not working hear
noyhing in my SD or TMP folder
thanks for your help
