has anyone verified a working j2me on the xda II? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

has anyone with an xda II verified that there is an implementation of j2me on it and that it works?
thanks,
loki

not sure if it's on the present rom but there were a icon of a java thingy in the early preview of the xda2 so there should be a working one it's just if they give it to you in a newer rom or if you have to pay for it
though not sure if it's in any of the xda2's out there havent heard about anybody who have it though

WM2003-based SER

Does anyone know when Special Edition ROM 2(or whatever WM2003-based will be called) is coming?
Waiting since I installed SERv1.2!
Tried a search?..
It´s rumored for release in december for the XDA´s.
Search told me nothing, but thanx!
December 2004? By that time we'll probably see WM2004! 8)
I think you missed something.....
I'm nearly 100% sure, that there will never be an XDA-Developers Special Edition ROM based on the WM2003. The SER 1.2 was before the ability of ROM kitchens.
The Version skenliv is talking about is the WM2003 SE (Second edition)
This is something completly differernt.
I think that there won't be any release of the WM2003 SE for the XDA I device. O2 didn't have released any WM2003 until know, so why should they release the SE?
T-Mobile i'm not sure. But the only interesting point for the XDA I Users of the SE is the landscape mode....
HTH
Stefan
Basically, I don't see any "useful" feature in WM2003SE - as far as I know, the main thing is the support of 640x480 mode, which can't be used with XDA nor XDA2 (maybe XDA3 if any).
To say truth, I wanted the SER2 because I never managed to do anything with ROM kitchens - I gave it up and installed SER v1.2 so if you can give a link to a nice tutorial it would be appreciated.
By the way, what is included in your ROM?
Don't you want to share?

You want to know, what applications are iincluded in my ROM? Don´t know it exactly. But why should I share it. Maybe I´m using the theft protection or anything else.....
Why don´t you cook your own ROM?

WM 2003 Second Edition
Just a note, there is an internal build of WM 2003 Second Edition for the XDA.
I'm running it right now on my SX-56. I really like it, the landscape mode is helpful and the text size changing is nice too. Add Voice Command and it's a true geek's delight.
Unfortunately, it's a signed internal build right now. So it can't be distributed. Hopefully T-Mo or others will release soon.
Cheers,
Laotzu
2 Stefan:
It was jus a suggestion! Don't take it this close to heart!
The point is, that my PC ain't gonna become a UNIX in close time...
PS: You are absolutely right, distribution of theft software is illegal! Same as it's usage...
hey dude...so DERE IS NOWAY u can ditribute da thing??aan i wwud really like to have dat!!!ne1 out dere where i can get my hands on the wm2003se??ill pay a price too.....
I meant Second Edition, sorry. Read it to fast.
i would like to get some info about older CE applications compatiblity with SE because from what i read many older applications may not work at all
i would like to know if they dont work period or if they dont work of you tilt your desktop and such
would never move to a new version of the os which required me to get all new software
The old CE apps should work on standard mode. But in landscape mode, it might not work.
are you 100% sure about this because
http://www.brighthand.com/article/Developers_Dealing_with_Windows_Mobile_SE?site=PPC
here they make it sound much more serious
To my mind this will not be this tough!
I use Nyditot Virtual Display - my system thinks I have 640x480 landscape (all the rumours concerning making it "impossible to see anything on the display" come from people, who can't work with fonts, cleartype and zoom! 8) ).
I actually use programmes for WinCE 2.0, WinCE 2.11, PPC2002 and now WM2003, even though Microsoft guys say the WinCE 2.0 can never be compatible with the WM2003! So I think, that the availability of VGA will not make many troubles (if they use basis of WM2003 in WM2003SE).
I won't believe anyone till I see it!

T-Mobile USA Email Triggers on WM5

Has anyone gotten the T-Mobile USA Email Triggers software to work correctly on Windows Mobile 5? I'm talking about the software that came with the iPAQ phone they've got.
It runs on my old imate JAM, but I'm wondering if anyone got it to work on Windows Mobile 5. I installed it on a Himalaya running the WM5 beta, and the email triggers do seem to initiate a send/recieve, but then no new email messages are downloaded. I wonder if that's a bug in WM5 beta or what. Can anyone confirm that it works correctly on the latest WM5?
Yes I have it working!
Yes I have it working but have not made a cab installer for it yet. I will put one together for you and post it later today. Do you want the IM programs too?

I have the version that was posted here:
http://www.pdaphonehome.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=45599&highlight=email+triggers
And that's the one that seems to have issues on the Himalaya WM5 beta. I have pre-ordered the HTC Wizard, so I was wondering if anyone got it working on a "Real" WM5 Pocket PC phone (as it appears you did!)
So yeah, if your version is better/newer than the one above, I'd love to try it. I don't think I really need the IM SMS programs, but maybe others would? Thanks!

[Q] Use Rom on a Blue Angel (XDAIII)

Hi there,
i got a question, i am think of, maybe you can tell me the answer
The new Magican, or XDA mini or else how it called has installed the new Verison 5 of MS OS. Why cant we use those in a XDA III / XDA II or elsewhere ? It is Final (MS Products arent final at the start) and we have more Functions then we need.
Is this possible ? You are the man, i dont know much of it,
thanks for the answer ...
msdn
Hiya, are you basically saying that you would like to run WM05 on a Blue Angel? If so, you might like to have a look at the wiki all about that here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_Home
HTH
I installed it 2 times before. But it was very laggy, no light was working ... mostly after the patches ....
I think the Version 5 came out some time before, this should be final, why we got so many problem about bt, wlan, light, sounds and so on?

Any suggestion for a universal remote software?

I've been trying to find a universal remote program that's compatible with the prophet. So far, I can't find anything. I tried the latest Novii, and the IRDA remote II. But it doesn't seem to be compatible. Does anyone have any success?
I'mstill searchin for it. did you find anithing working ?
No, I haven't found anything. I wonder why the IR in the prophet is that different from the rest of the current pda's, especially from something like the wizard. It seems like every program out there thinks it's not compatible with the prophet. I wonder if it's just a hack away from fooling these programs to think it's compatible.
Any news on this issue? Does anyone at least know of a reg hack or something to fool these programs (eg, novii, etc) into thinking the IR is compatible?
I tried Novii remote when I had a magician and found that the IR was too feeble to work at any sensible distance. I've not bothered to try it on my prophet yet as the web site does not mention WM5 compatability.
Unless they updated the software, but I tried novii a few months ago, it was still incompatible (the program launches but says they don't recognize the built in IR. I know that these non-consumer IR are useless in terms of distance, but sometime I just want a working remote even if it's right in front of the TV or vcr (b/c some of the machines I have don't even have a remote). So if anyone can find a software that at least thinks the prophet IR is compatible, that's a start.

wow, and is it really possible?
The relatively new version 4 of the novii remote deluxe is compatible to the QTek s200 (HTC Prophet or XDA Neo).
But I'm still not able to get it to work. It freezes right after choosing the "Flip screen" properties.
Maybe someone has a suggestion?

You are completely wrong as NoviiRemote IS compatible with WM5. You can see it on product page at www.novii.tv/pocketpc/deluxe, chek 'compatibility' option on the right.

I didn't have such a problem, but why wouldn't you contact Novii's support team? They are quick to respond.

I have contacted them two days ago and still no answer...

crazy...
I've just tried it again after I've tried it several times two days ago, with the same install-file and now it works...
[edit]
Really very curious...
Now it's freezing again just when starting the application. I've nothing changed...
It seems that this application is a very, very unstable one.

It seems it's just a beta version, so I guess it may be a problem. Have you got an answer?

JIVETALK for WinMo6

OK BeeJive has released Jivetalk (alpha) for WinMo6.x pro devices
It is truly a marvel on my Hermes(Cingy 8525)
Heres my issue I cannot get it to run for the life of my on my Herald(tmo wing)
I have tried several roms and it wont work
Open Touch, Touch-IT, and another i cant remember at this time
I want some other Wing users to see if they have the same issue also
Also I will post some screenshots to make your mouth water!!
yeah i have open touch 4.0 lite and it doesn't work, fails to startup. when i had the original tmobile rom on my wing, it worked.
The JiveTalk cab of yours work perfectly on my O2 terra, a Herald variant.
Used to use Palringo until today but JiveTalk seems to take over that place, thanks btw
I checked out the Jive site and there you could make a HTC P4350 and a T-Mobile Wing selection.
I'm not sure if this is just a marketing questionaire or a hardware id related question field.
Which version did you pick?
When I login to various IM networks the status messages is "On HTC P4350",
my assumption is that it could be hardware related.
Try if selecting the Wing version makes a differences if not try to use JiveTalk over WiFi,
because your mobile carrier might block the appropriate port via proxy.
CONFIRMED

FLASHED BACK TO TMO ORIGINAL (on my HERALD)
And it worked like a charm
This app is tht HOTT to me
I cant understand why it wouldnt work with the custom roms though
Make a ROM cooker cn shed some light on that
PS: Your Welcome Gambit.
I figure get it while its free!! because one day it will cost $
Im keeping a copy of every version, but i believe on first startup it will authenticate to jivetalks server first so that maybe frivolous
UPDATE

The roms it doesnt work on are because they do not have SQLCE cooked in
Must be "cooked in" for jivetalk to work
Works on all Binky11's ROMS and all vp3G's as well
SQLCE and .NET CF are both required for JiveTalk to work.
I haven't managed to get Jivetalk to work on my phone, after trying to install everything... still errors every time...

Same here. Got .NET CF 2.0, 3.5 and SQL CE installed and still no luck.
Itje's 7.1 ROM was the the last ROM JiveTalk could run properly.
Anybody know how to enable the today plugin for the newest JiveTalk? It's not under start>settings>today>items.
you have to download it separately. after you do that and install it will show up where the normal today plugins show up in that list. it shows up for me.
does anyone know where it saves logs? or how to delete them? i think they are taking up a lot of my memory, i only have 3.2MB left and i am not putting ANYTHING on my phone and cleartemp clears like 500KB
Care to show me the download for the today plugin because it's nowhere to be seen on there site =O?
i couldn't begin to tell you where it is. the only reason i know about it is because when i updated it told me i can either edit a css file (or something) to have it work or install the cab that will automatically add it.
just checked, i don't have the cab anymore.
has anyone gotten it to work with cooked roms?? im using heralds serg's rom?? thanks guys!!
I went back to the OEM and got the today plug-in back. It is working fine on my ROM (for the Kaiser).
i emailed bee jive people and they told me it should work on custom ROMs.
however, i have a tmo wing running on papa black diamond but it doesnt work however many times i tried it. i used to have it on my blackberry and it is really the best messaging software out there
**EDIT - i found a solution to the problem.. follow instructions and install the following from this topic:

I know it runs out of the box on Itje's, ICP's and tttrans's ROMs, but i never got it to work on this one.
Perfect, you made my day
