Bouygues Telecom and WAP GPRS SETTINGS for XDA2 - Networking

Hello. I'm the proud owner of an XDA2 and i'm quite happy with it!! Could someone tell me how to set the settings in order to be able to take advantage of my unlimited wapGPRS option (6€/month) at BouyguesTelecom (french network). after having carefuly looked at the instruction manual supplied with the qtek2020, it must be possible. I would like to keep this option instead of switching to the 6€/month 5Meg GPRS option or the 10 Meg as the prices are out of this world and the allocated volume very easyly exceeded. Thanking you all in advance, i remain;
Arnaud
Salut les frenchies chez Bouygues !! Ce n'est certes pas le plus mauvais opérateur de notre glorieux pays.

i like pretty much speaking into the desert, so i reply to my own question in order to help out other subscribers of the same french mobilephone entwork
Using EZWAP and the data GPRS subscription one is able to navigate on secured wap servers; I will try to have my account reseted to unlimited Multimedia subscription and will see if it still works. One strange thing i never get BouyguesTelecom's own web portal.
To be continued and thankyou all for not trying to help me in either way!!

MMS settings TIM Italy

Hi Everyone
Upgraded to an XDA II after o2 Ireland kindly promised the unlatching code.
Phone and GPRS work fine on TIM here in Italy.
BUT even though I've been tweaking with this info I got on the TIM website -
Server address: http://mms.tim.it/servlets/mms
Gateway: 213.230.130.89
Server Name: MMS.TIM.IT
I still can't get it to work!!
Should I be using my GPRS connection for it? I don't have a WAP connection at all - maybe WAP is necessary?!
I'd be very grateful if someone could talk me through it.
I was on the phone to TIM today but they hadn't heard of the XDA and couldn't help!
Sincerest thanks
Conor
i'm replying in italian to help this italian friend ...
ciao,
ciao
marco
Thanks Marco - sei grande!
Thanks to Marco (above) talking me through the rather tricky alignment of different connections the MMS service with prepay TIM seems to be running OK on my XDA II.
We used the setting info I've posted above which I got on the TIM website.
Cheers Marco - much appreciated!
Conor
MMS sitting
Have'u try to see the forum's www.xda-italia.com
I've sow a post about MMS sitting in there.
Ciao.
Still in TIM MMS trouble!
Hi again!
Actually that DIDN'T work after all!
Despite Marco's generous help - thanks again! - It just SEEMED as if messages had been sent though it turns out they were never actually received by anyone!
By this I mean they went into the Sent folder - but didn't turn up anywhere else!
I did receive one picture message though so maybe there's still hope!
That XDA-Italia site doesn't seem to have any info on TIM MMS connections - thanks anyway Gibbo!
If anyone has succeeded in MMS with TIM I'd be glad of help as their support people are not up to speed on XDA life!
Cheers
Conor

Voici ce que j'ai trouvé pour toi
Salut,
thank you EWDB
I just received this from Mobistar. Maybe this one can also help, you have print screen.
A+ et bon week end
Nico
MMS is over GPRS, is that mean I need to have the GPRS ligne turned on?
Do I need to call Mobistar and appply for GPRS?
So fare as now the MMS are not sending.
Any clue?
Nico
ok I get it
ok I get it
in the print screen bellow, pick up from the Mobistar configuration they sent me. We can see a print screen where the APN (Access Point Name)
is "web.pro.be"
where they write down "internet.be"
I first set it to web.pro.be then change it for internet.be and it work.
So you have to read what they right and not what is on the print screen.
An other problem is after sendind the MMS, you still connected to MMS GPRS.
I have GPRS Monitor, so I can allways disconnect myself manually.
Is anyone know how to fix this problem?
Thank you

Use opera mobile with APN wapsfr (illimythics SFR)

Hi, I have the illimythics 3h of SFR.
We have unlimited acces to internet with the APN wapsfr. But we pay if we pass by the APN websfr...
I want to use opera mobile web browser, but it doesn't work with the wapsfr APN.
Bouygues tel users had the same pb on Imode and someone modify the DLL of opéra to change the user agent.
http://mobisit.blogspot.com/2006/02/modifier-opera-mobile-pocket-pc-pour.html
Does anybody have a solution to solve this problem for SFR?
Thank you !
wapsfr sounds like it's wap rather then real internet
maybe thats the issue rather then opera
SFR Illimythic , Opera and wapsfr

difference between wap sfr and web sfr ?

Can someone explain why my "web sfr" config doesnt give the internet access ?
why the "wap sfr" config is working for the internet ?
why the wap sfr doesnt permit to use the windows live mssgr ?
why my visio 3g doesnt work ?....
too hard to obtain a complete working configuration with sfr ?
thanks !
you should use google to get the right answer because this site doesn't concern sfr a t all... It has been done for HTC user's.
Anyway check this thread: http://qtek9100.forumpro.fr/operate...ssenger-by-sfr-sur-wm6-modem-wap-bt-t9324.htm
OK thanks, Ive the messenger by sfr but there is no visio

unlocked orange phone

hi people.
i unlocked my hero last night and put my t-mobile simcard in.
it wont pick up any 3g/h/gprs coverage, and was wondering if i manually have to put the settings in for t-mobile?
it will let me make calls and send text sthough.
anyone else experienced this? thanks
Probably need to setup the T-mobile APN's.
Kien is correct. Although the Hero should still pick up a 3G signal without the correct settings you will not be able to use the WEB and Email services until you enter the correct APN's
you will also need to set up the MMS APN too, otherwise you will not receive picture messages.
You can find the UK T-Mobile settings on the web site here: http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
and the MMS settings on the same web site here:
http://www.filesaveas.com/mms.html
Good luck.

is this right? and then when i do put the settings in, it should just appear? i have the mobile signal turned on, so should be able to get on the web surely ?
thanks
Fruit confusion
It would appear you have mistaken your telephonic device for a piece of fruit - perhaps this would explain not only the problem you have expressed here but other confusions in your life. Alternatively, this may be a hark back to the early part of the 20th century, specifically alluding to surrealism. Taking inspiration from Magritte's "Ceci n'est pas une pipe" (This is not a pipe) you have cleverly and thought provokingly made a statement about your 'Orangephone' - perhaps you could produce a scupltural piece along the lines of Dali's 'Lobsterphone' - Congratulations are therefore appropraite for two reasons:
1 - The creation of Neo-surrealism
2 - A thought provoking discussion on the dadaist / surreal 'Orangephone'
Bravo Sir - I take my hat off to you (Ceci n'est pas un chapeau !!!!)

eh? what you going on about?
mmm, i would have have thought that if you were in range of a T-Mobile 3G mast then you would still see a 3G indicator regardless of the settings. It's true, you will need to enter the t-mobile settings to access the web.
You will, of course still get access to the web and email without 3G it will just be slower.
I'd check the following:
1. Does t-mobile have 3G where you are?
2. Is the SIM card activated for data?
3. Check that 3G is enabled in the Hero settings, it can get turned off?
4. Does the Hero access the web when the APN settings are configured, even without 3G (which would then be 2G)?
5. If you can get slow access to the web as in 4. then check 1 and 2 again.
6. Try another SIM card if you have one.

a spherical orangephone would be quite useless though, it would roll around, you wouldn't be able to speak into it properly.. Unless you do what Dali did and get a old land line phone and glue/attach an orange on - but then it would look like an obscene growth...
Either way - This is my pipe.

the t-mobile simcard has 3g activated because it worked on my old phone.
the 3g sign isn't there at all but is with the orange simcard.
new to android (a wm6.5 user) and dont know where to edit the settings? thanks for the help
Its definately the settings!!!
My spanking new Hero was delivered this morning (also on Orange),... No 3G or HSDPA signal showed with my O2 sim until I added the APN settings.
You need to go into SETTINGS -> WIRELESS CONTROLS -> MOBILE NETWORK SETTINGS -> ACCESS POINT NAMES.
Then hit your 'MENU' button, select NEW APN,... Then add your gprs/internet settings.
Name: T-Mobile UK
APN: general.t-mobile.uk

I think that should enable both your MMS and GPRS. If all fails, take a trip into town to a t-mobile store and get someone to get the settings off a handset for you.
Hope that helps.
Now i need to figure out how to get the orange crap off and put a stock rom on.
Peace.
