Dual Sim available? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hi, Anyone know of or using dual sims in thier XDA (I assume XDA/XDAII/i-Mate are the same).
Thanks,
Ian

Try This on XDA 1 work fine....
http://simemu.cjb.net/

Thanks Rsivan, it looks a bit complicated - is it ??
Any others??

Look here
I've just tryed today on xda2 and work fine better of xda1!
http://ucables.com/products/simcards/index.htm
you can get altready programmed and more accessory for more of 1 number on 1 simcard

Thanks again....
Looks a simple, if you have a steady cutting hand !

Done it at last!!
Ordered and recieved a "Ghost Sim Type 'c' " from mobileplace.co.uk (£16 inc p&p).
It fits (just) and switches sims when you "Turn Wireless Off" and then "Turn Wireless On".
Cutting SIMs was just a little too risky for me - I can't cut bread straight! so this this is ideal.
Enjoy.

Sounds good bro! Just ordered one myself. Can you be connected to both lines and networks at the same time- for example can you receive a call from either number at any time?

Unfortunatly not
No, you can only recieve or send on one at a time. But it is a doddle to switch between the two - either soft reset (mmm), or turn phone off then on again, on the signal strenth icon (new ROM on i-Mate calls this 'Flight Mode').
It works for me. One for Work and one for Personal.

Anybody know if this works in the US?

Ian,
how did the dual sim holder fit inside the XDA II. Was it a tight fit ?
Steve

A little, but very managable
Yes, it is a little tight:
o The Sim will not lock but is held in place when the battery is in
o The dual ghost that sits between the battery and cover is a bit of a squeeze, but it is made of some sort of foam, so does work and the cover will lock in place
Mine is fine and has not affected the XDA itself.

what is the difference between the various types? (A, B, C D...)
Do you fold the flat cable (between single sim and dual sim slots) at 90 degrees to get it to fit under the battery?

from what I know the battery sits over the strip and then you loop the cable and sim holder over the side of the battery and it sits on top of the battery.
Steve

Type
I believe the type determines which end or side of the sim the cable comes out of.
This picture should help - sorry about the quality, but you will get the idea.

How did you manage to get the sim in the holder, the large dual sim holder would have to have gone thru the bottom of the hinge of the sim holder on the xda ?
I'm confused.
Steve

Pop it out
If you support the connection to the mother board, the sim holder 'pops' out of its holding lugs very easily. You can then put the sim in from the 'wrong' end and then 'pop' it back.

so can this ghost sim be used with an XDA I then? or is there a different soulution for the XDA I.

Depends on the type of ghost sim used I guess
Sorry, I don't know, but....
I guess it depends how you can get the ghost sim cable to exit the sim card and wrap over the battery.
On the II, to get it to wrap around the battary, then the cable must exit the sim at its base:
-----
| |---->
\___
If the 'I' has the 'cut off' edge of the sim at the bottom left (when inserted) and the right hand side of the sim is close to the right hand side of the unit, then I cant see why not. Its just a matter of 'fit' rather than technology.

Need suggestions on easy sim removal

I have one account that I cannot enter with a camera phone. I've never really had an issue with switching sim cards, but the Advantage poses a problem. I've been using a small chunk of egrip, but I was wondering if cutting a fingernail slot near the end would work. Would I damage the sim card (its ability to work) by cutting a slot near the end to use a finger nail or even a hole for the stilius?
Thanks

It's easy to slide it out if you press it DOWN and PULL it out at the same time. Don't try to dig your finger under the card.

I found it difficult as well so I took a SMALL piece of scotch tape
and attached to both sides of the sim in a loop.
It gives you a little handle that tucks away neatly when you close the door.
I can remove mine fairfly easily. Just raise the little 'door' that keeps it in place, put your finger flat on top of the sim card, and slide it right out.

I do that also, but I'm of the opinion that bending back the door tabs enough to do the sim extraction 1-2 times a day will shorten their life to only a couple of weeks. I think I'm gonna drill a stilus size hole near the end, then it can be pulled out with the stilus and out the slot between the door and the case. Still waiting for someone to tell me if that will ruin the sim. I'll post a picture if it works.
@ Hitch, I had an old Sim so I drilled a "1/16" hole at the Center End of it and tried it out. It worked out pretty good and the phone still picked it up. The stylus fit in it perfectly and pulled it out easily. Give it a shot and post back...TJ
i have used a knife to cut a fingernail slot in my sim (did that about 1 year back when i first got athena ... it works fine
but yes one of my tabs is broken on the door
tweezers for me !

My tap too. Is it the side closest to the keyboard connection?

SIM Hotswap

Hy,
I hotswaped my SIM card few times.
Went to Comm Manager, Phone OFF, take SIM out, put another one in, Phone ON...
I'm just curious if something could go wrong by swaping SIM this way, since it is a lot faster not waiting the device to reboot.
Cheers!
Hi
I am curious how you swap the sim without taking the battery out.
r
Andrew
Bend it over the battery with a toothpick/stylus or fingernail, then just slide it out. Its actually easy, and it saves time.
Yep its possible !
I would be wary of bending the metal sim retaining bracket though.
On my Kaiser I had to pack it out with a piece of paper to ensure the sim made good contact - and on that phone I hot swapped with no problems.
r
Andrew
I have been swapping sim cards quite a few times, I always use paper, the size of a sim card and leave it in inside the cover.
Very easy and the paper protects the battery and sim card from being scratched.

SIM card eject

Does your eject with a pop out or do you have to find a way to slide it out by applying some pressure on it and then sliding it out? Not so easy to change this SIM card. At times you find yourself needing some tweezers to pull the freakin SIM card out. Not god for frequent travelers.

M8 yes its a problem if you change sims.. but a solution for you is a Magic-Sim .. so you can have 2 sims .. and you dont take out anything. I suppose for me a 2nd problem could had been to Dissasemble the Spigen Armor case.. take out the backplate...

I have seen only the dual for S4 m8 in work in a friends phone. It works fine. It appears a program inside the phone and in there you choose which sim you want, also you can tell that Sim1 will be up for 30mins then sim2 for other 30 mins.. pretty handy but you only need to change between sims.
If I take out the battery, it comes out fine. If I leave the battery in, on the other hand... Well, not so easy as it's not meant to be removed whilst the battery is attached.
As suggested by someone on one of the forums, I use a push pin, and it just allows me to slide out the sim easily.
just take some tape..
But after 10-15 times it came easier out !!
I don't believe that is good to constantly changing the sim for the pins, I don't believe the pins it will last long but again I don't know.

Sim card wont stay on

My phone fell and i too became a victim of the uninsertable sim card and now im stuck with 3g.
Anybody found a fix for this?
Looks like the mechanism which holds the sim card broke or something.
Duct tape.

Either that or just super glue it. The spring felt a little too strong for tape so I went with the permanent fix.

Where exactly did you apply the Super Glue? And how did you hold the SIM in place while the glue set? The spring is pretty strong and "spits" the card out forcefully...

I applied it on top of the card. This worked for a little bit but failed a few days later. Too much glue got onto the contacts. I've given up now. Just going to use it with only 3G till I get a new phone.

Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of the super glue not holding up for too long. I might try hot glue, if I can keep the SIM wedged in there long enough for it to cure.

Solution without tape or glue
There is a notch on the back cover that can move and hold the SIM in place on the back cover on the phone.
If you slide the back snug (back cover from right to left assuming the word SHARP is upright) putting pressure on the notch area it will slide / push the SIM into position. Carefully snap the back on and you are good to go. I've had the problem for months but it seemed like an easy fix. It will eventually go on its own to 4G, but a restart works faster especially if you are unsure if it is in place. If you drop the phone or switch memory cards often then maybe use tape or something else, as the SIM is small and might not be easy to find if it shoots out.
Found the fix!!!!!
OK all you have to do is right above the SIM card you can peel back the tape / sticker once you do that there will be a little tab in the top left right corner that you can pop up and then the other way . then u will see that when u stick your SIM card all the way in and you'll see a little bar that comes down in the top left corner n you'll notice that when you press your SIM card in there's a little bar that comes down if you if you take something and basically press that bar upwards (like a needle)bend it up it will actually keep your SIM card in works for me then just put the back on it works for me my 4G works[/B

Mine is broke too and only gets 3G.
I'll have to try that repair and see if it works.
Must be a bad engineering on the sim holder.

No mobile network after screen replacement on S7 Edge

I replaced the screen of my s7 edge SM-G9350 .. Now I find that no mobile network is working. The sim is recognized when inserted into both slot 1 and 2. I don't even get the emergency call message. I tried to do the default reset but no same problem. Thanks a lot to those who can give me a hand.

and if didnt cut those peices off try to put wires and pack full phone without glass and screws then see what happen
if you didnt put the whole packing which holds motherboard and antennas signals will not come but your phone will recognized your sim
