COMPUME pricing on the i-MATE (full warrenty etc) - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 General

Hello Everyone...
I have been asked a few times about costing for the i-MATE unit that was purchased from Compume from the A.U.E in the middle east. Just to recap, Compume was great to deal with and shipped the units from there to Canada including a stop at customs in Montreal in seven days door to door. If you've been following the posts you'll know that myself and my friend ordered a total of two units. The customs and such forms just arrived so is the total low down.
Compume shipped the same day we ordered and it was billed to my credit card after faxing them the front of my visa card and front of my drivers licence for fraud protection (safe for me+ them)
The box weighed 3.5 kg
The cost of each unit was $ 842.12 USD
The shipping cost for TWO units together was $ 176.00 USD
Taxes in Ontario (whether we like it or not) $ 192.56 CDN
Broker Fee per unit $ 13.50 CDN
The i-MATE has a complete and full one year worldwide warrenty (no questions asked) simply get a return voucher number and include it with your dead i-MATE. HTC will pay for shipping return to them plus insurance and send you a new or fixed (but probably new based on the email I received from them) once your item arrives. This will take less then seven days to get to them and the stated new device from the AUE to Canada 10-14 days (again at their expence I might add).
So there you have the details and the costing. Shipping would have been less of course with only one item but I can't say how much. The box was very large (about 3/4 size) of an orange box. Items were packed in styro and the i-MATE boxes inside that. Arne is selling the same units at PPCW.net and these are in fact the only English ROM units with full warrenties on the market and HTC looks like it is going to be great to deal with from my emails from them and so forth. I think both my friend and I would highly recommend both Compume (or Arne) but more importantly these units. You know have the exact pricing here so I hope that answers everyones questions about costing.
If you have any other cost questions certainly email me if you would like further clarification.
Best James

MDA Vario for sale

Hi
I've got a brand new (as of midday today) MDA Vario for sale. It was an unwanted upgrade as I've already got one on another line. Brand new, opened only to test it was working and to charge, I've got the receipt with today's date on, all the packaging etc.
Looking for £335 inc postage or £325 collected from central London (West End) or SW London (Fulham/Putney area), which includes a £10 donation to these very forums should I sell it through here
Thanks for looking
Zathras
Is this unlocked? I'm very interested in it.
What do these go for then? I'm about to sign for a Web'n'Walk tariff as it fits my needs. I can get either a Vario or (for £150 extra) an MDA Pro. Whichever handset I get, I don't need it (my managerie includes a Universal, two XDA Wallabies and a Canary) so I intend to sell it.
1) What's pretty much the min price I'd get for a quick sale of a brand new, locked Vario? Either posted here or ebay buy-it-now?
2) Can the Vario be unlocked easily yet or would I need a code from T Mobile?
3) Anyone interested?
There's one on Ebay up at £360 and climbing without breaking a sweat: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/i-mate-K-JAM-...ryZ32242QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I've not seen many others for sale, but am not bothered about making profit - I just want to match the price of my contract - so don't want to go through the hassle of ebay. Also, I really would prefer not to have to ship abroad.
I don't expect to cover my contract expenses (I'm going for a higher tariff), but if someone wants to make me an offer, I'll be buying either a Pro or a Vario towards the end of this week or start of next week. You can choose: brand new, unopened or I could open it up and test it works before shipping it.
I WILL ship anywhere, apart from Nigeria, but will only take Paypal payments. PM me if interested.
I've put my "terms of engagement" here:

MDA Pro or MDA Vario for sale

I'm about to sign a new contract with T Mobile and can get either a Vario or (for £150 more) another Pro.
So, I'll get whichever will make me the most money. Anyone interested in either? Please PM me your price. It'll be a very one-sided arrangement, however.
Paypal only :?
Will ship anywhere
Except Nigeria :x
Once payment has cleared
You can have it unopened, still with the seal on the box, or I can open it to test it for you
I will be buying this either the end of this week or Monday/Tuesday next week
If you want some level of buyer protection, I'll list it on ebay with a buy-it-now, but that'll add £25 quid to cover the fees + hassle.
I'm told T Mobile will unlock the unit after 1 month for a fee (around £15 or £20). If this is the case, I am happy to get the unlock code and pass it on at cost. If this is NOT the case, my MDA Pro is unlocked - make me an offer I can't refuse for it and i'll keep the locked unit
I wish you were getting an O2 Exec, so I can bid for it.
I like the color of the O2 Exec than the MDA Pro.

Hi,
Can u pls tell me the exact price with shipping and insurance included to India....I am interested....
For shipping, take a look at
http://sg.royalmail.com/servlet/acedispatcher?funcId=100&AceApplication=consignia&pageId=frameset
I'll insist on a signiture on delivery and onm £500 insurance.
Assuming India, Major Towns 1, and also assuming 1.3Kg (it should be less than that) between £11 and £30 depending on speed of service (air or surface mail).
I will use other major carriers, but only if they have a depot in Norwich, England.
Just had it confirmed that I will be able to get whichever handset I purchase unlocked to work with sims from any network, although this may take up to 28 days to receive. I could sell the mda pro I'm using right now, which is unlocked, if someone needs one urgently
Willing to sell my XDA Exec.
------edited-----
Same goes for my exec. Its boxed, sealed, never opened. Actually was purchased as a gift for my brother. He Liked mine so I bought another for him. Turns out he doesn't want it. So i'm stuck with a boxed one. Any takers?
£500 with full papers. Though I think it comes with UK/Europe limited warranty. Atleast mine did.
i'm selling a brand new mda pro with all the paperwork 2 make the warrenty valid for £500

Take care on EBay 4 Tytn

Hi guys just an heads up about Tytn on Ebay.
I have been making a few bids and:
one auction disappeared with the user alltogether (I received later an email from ebay saying it was not "regular")
+
There's a lot of scammers looking at bids and proposing you off line a tytn for about 340 EUR (Impossible)
Of course they will ask you to pay on western union & similars.
Take care

Universal wanted, any flavour

Sick of ebay wasters and the insurance company who seem to think that I need a laptop [-]
Well, I smashed the screen on my MDA pro two weeks ago and it's hardly useable. If there's anyone in the UK who wants to sell me theirs (any brand: QTEK, Imate, o2, Orange, T mobile) then PM me please. Cash waiting.
Got one
Update:
OK, I've ordered a couple of units which I should have next week. Although my insurance co have finally coughed up and I should have my replacement on Monday!
So, before I ebay the BNIB XDA Execs, anyone here want them? They will be treated as a trade sale (my company will not provide any warranty) and the price is £255.32+VAT (£300 including VAT) + shipping each. If you are outside the EU, you won't have to pay UK VAT.
This is assuming this deal goes through and my orders from the supplier are honoured.
First come first served - this is not a money spinner for me, although I'm not intending to lose out on the deal!
To clarify, I ordered two before I knew the insurance co would
1) replace my old unit
2) Not want my old unit
So they are sending me a new one and I'll get my old one repaired (been quoted £139+VAT by www.turnonyourmobile.com)
So that means the two I've ordered will be surplus to requirements. I reckon that's a cracking deal and I'll sell them on if anyone wants them. If I don't get any replies before my order is confirmed, I'll just cancel my order.

Australian buying HTC Touch HD

For Aussies who are looking to buy HTC Touch HD, you might like to know that a Melbourne based ebayer is now selling it bundled with TomTom6 and 8GB MicroSDHC card.
We also get local warranty for buying it here.
I just won one at about AUD1225, after being unsuccesful in the first attempt (the winning bid was AUD1250). All prices are inclusive of GST.
I thought it is not a bad deal. With the current exchange rate, it actually works out to be cheaper than importing from expansys Singapore assuming we can escape import duty. Depend on the exchage rate, it is quite close to importing to UK.
A couple of sellers are offering to let you buy it without bidding at about AUD 1350, also with TT6 (full license with latest Aussie Map) included.
I thought some of us here might be interested in this info.
Cheers.
thansk for yours info

I think that depends on your conversion rate that your credit card charges you.
The key reasons I bought it here was, at worst there is no significant difference in price (Many actually bidded successfully at got it at lower price than I did), you are assured GST is already included, hence no more import duty, local warranty, and inclusion of Tom Tom 6 (legit copy).
Are you sure you get better than that?
I bought one on the Buy it Now option for $1299. Mainly because he has TomTom with AU maps included. Many others are removing the 8Gb card, some even adding a 2Gb card as an offer having taken the 8Gb out!
I bet you were the bugger who outbid me for the 1225 one! ;-)

So, you were the bugger who drove the price so high!
Actually, those who bidded later got it a lower price.
We should have conspire and bidded one at a time, then all of us would have got it for 2.50

Well the phone you bought was not Australian stock. Either was mine but i know that. The guy you bought it from basically imported it and is now selling it for a premium. The way i purchased my handset is cutting that middle man out. And since it is not Australian stock it would be interesting to see how this "local warranty" will work out for you. My handset came to under $1000 so i had no gst or import tax. And i have tom tom 7 already so 6 doesn't really appeal to me

Okay, of course, all stocks came from China ultimately. HTC is a Taiwanese company which had manufacturing plants in China. So is Iphone for that matter. IPhone is manufacutred in China by Foxconn, which is another Taiwanese company with factory in China.
Everyone imports and sell for profit. You have paid a differet middleman by buying from Europe, that's all. Unless you buy directly from HTC China, you will have middleman.
I get your point regarding the so called local warranty, though. I hope HTC Australia honor it. If not, this guy might be just be paying for my freight to HTC Hong Kong for servicing I guess.
Have you received your credit card statement, or check it online to find out the conversion rate yet? Usually credit card company's rate is highly unfavourable, so am just curious what did they charge you with.
You're right about TT6. I'm not going to use it either.

Well all up once shipping was paid for i believe it was just under the $1100 mark. I highly doubt that htc will honour that warranty which is why i suggest you contact them asap. Even if my warranty isn't honoured in Austrlia i have a 2 year manufacturer warranty with a store i can send the handset back to. If i need to send it back of course i will pay the cost which is unfortunate. BUT, it is better than having no warranty and no place to send it back to.
i did what davecash did and got mine from Handtec
my credit card came up at AUD$1081
very happy with it so far, exactly what i need for my use. now just gotta suss out some tweaks :-D
Your credit card amount will be an uncertainty especially in this highly volatile time. At the time when I looked at it, I would be paying more than you guys if I had bought it from Handtec.
Another uncertainty was the import duty. Because the amount was bordering around 1000, it may be slightly more than 1000 or slightly less. I would have to live with the possibility of an import duty.
So I decided to bid because I would know for sure what I was going to pay, whereas getting from Handtec I did not know at what exchange rate I would be hit with, and if I would have to pay import duty.
Another thing to bear in mind is, just because you guys paid that amount is no guarentee that another person will be able to get that exchage rate. You know very well that AUssie currency is sliding downward these days.
So, I bidded in ebay.com.au.
I realised that I was impatient and bidded a little higher. This guy got it for much less at AUD1176

If you're able buying for business, there is also the benefit of the 10% GST input tax that you can offset, I think.
This seller advertised himself as operating in Melbourne, and I made a call to Melbourne, and there was a person there speaking to me. So...
I guess that shop might not be around when I need the warranty, but that would be just the same for Handtec I guess.
So, for all who are buying, weigh all the pros and cons and decide for yourself what you think is the best.
Cheers.
I was bidding on some of those phones too. But was outbid at $1200 at the last moment.
I wound up paying full price.
However, I don't mind as it has local warranty, and given my past experiences with smart phones, that is a must. I can also claim GST, and at today's exchange rate, it would be over the magic $1,000 mark if imported directly.
Bought my Xperia X1 and HTC Touch HD through MobiCity. It was shipped from HK via FedEx, next day delivery.
Prefer the HD for those wondering.

Did you pay $1349 for the HD? A little expensive I thought.
I get $2000 a year for mobile phone purchase (I own) ontop of my pay packet. The Sony Experia X1 was rolled over to a Director who wanted it after we finished testing it, his Audi Q7 wouldn't sync correctly using bluetooth with Touch Pro (the X1 syncs perfectly). Never had a problem with HTC's phone and my BMW.
My departments budget includes funding to buy, test and use (or not) mobile phones that we believe may be usable within our organisation.

Lucky you, mate. How does Mobicity do the warranty? Do they have to send it overseas or whill HTC Australia do it?
I bought my HD for $1050 total from handtec but that’s no longer possible with the current exchange rate and handtec's price increase.
Note that if you buy it from a "local" seller and need to send it back for warranty, it is highly likely that they will have to send it back overseas to get your phone fixed/replaced. It's not like they stock up on it and can just give you a replacement sent via express post nor can they send it to HTC Australia. That could result in an unfavorable turnaround time.
Regardless, if you want the phone go buy it because once you have it the price is all forgotten. Don't worry about how much you paid or what others got it for and just enjoy the phone.

Did you have to pay any GST or Duty when it arrived here in Australia ?
Looking to buy one soon.
What do you guys think of this ebay seller?
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HTC-Touch-HD...3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:3|39:1|240:1318
$ 1121.00 including postage. He sold the last 10 quickly and the next 20 are up for sale.
Obviously he/she is from HK, Don't know about the Sydney contact, maybe a friend ?

Your email was from a Mary? She told me that her stock has already been all returned to her supplier because the 8GB MicroSDHC and user manual are missing and she has sourced for the unit from another supplier but the stock are yet to arrive. So she currently has no stock. The stock is shipped out of Hong Kong, and not Sydney. Seems that everyone in Australia is advertising that they have stock, then ship the item out of Hong Kong.
I cancelled my order from the last one I ordered 10 days after payment (supposed to arrive from Melbourne 1-2 days after payment). He has has the wrong stock being returned to his supplier story. But I got the full refund.
