New my-xda.com site

O2 have updated their XDA website www.my-xda.com
Unfortunately they have not included an AKU2 software upgrade for the XDA mini s.
Very pretty. Perhaps if they'd spent as much time working on the ROM update as they did on the new flashy site, there would be fewer people using the 'How do I hard reset my XDA' question on the FAQ as a precursor to unloading all the O2 nonsense.
Spoke to O2 this morning and apparently they will be releasing the new ROM next week.
Finally !!!! (Fingers crossed)

Where did this go

This is a old news cutting but what happened to the wireless tv link ?
" Sony Ericsson have also took the opportunity to point out some updates for the X10, X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro. They tell us that all three devices will received the Android 2.1 upgrade "in Q3 2010", although their blog seems to state "Q4". But wait, the big news for X10 owners is that...
"Xperia™ X10’s position will also be further strengthened through the addition of HD video recording as part of the same Q3 upgrade. A further upgrade to the Xperia™ X10 in Q4 will make it possible to connect and display wirelessly content on your television and enhance the Timescape™ and Mediascape applications."
Aha ! Great news for X10 owners! "
That second update us now due out in q1 next year.. Final specs tba.

Can there be any other phone that suites my budget ?

Neo V is a de-facto standard for anything near 17-18K. I know quite a few of people who have gone for the Neo V
Other alternatives may be the Desire S which has a very good dev community but will be slightly overbudget (Although today's eBay deal of the day was the Desire S with Mfgr Warranty for 15K), and the Defy+, although Moto is very different to mod, compared to something like HTC. Its difficult to recommend the One V at this point of time, since no one knows how the dev community for this device will turn out to be.

Hi, Why not invest a little more to get a nexus 5 ?
Please don't revive old threads. Closed

Optimus 4X HD,Xperia Acro S or Xperia S

As the title suggest, my contract is up next week. Shd I get a Xperia S(S$318 with contract) or Optimus 4X HD(S$188! With contract) or maybe Xperia Acro S(price not sure yet, shd be similar to Xperia S)? Any suggestions is welcome

I'd go for the Quad-core Tegra 3 Optimus 4X. But then again, its LG. :|
By all accounts LG are terrible at updating their Android phones.
I spent a week with an Xperia S and didn't like it. How about a Galaxy Nexus?
The ICS update on xperia S is terrible... sony dosn't do a good job ... acro s come with ICS (I'm right?) I think it will be good..
LG is terrible in updates ...(optimus 2X and 3D and black is still not recived the ICS update....)

But the 4X is shipped with ICS.
I did consider a galaxy nexus but in my country, Singapore only offers the 16gb version, which is simply not enough for me

Exactly, LG did a very bad job with their 2011 lineup. That's why I am having a second thought abt getting the 4X HD...
Sent from my LT18i using xda app-developers app
Is it your primary phone or secondary one?(most contract based phones are primary)
If I in your shoes, would definitely go for arco s
LG phones look great in hardware specifications but they are LG, even they have tegra 3
you know technology is doesn't downgrade...
sony will not release any quadcore this year
and probably next year will get the 2nd gen quad or whatever
sony is so late in the game..
xperia s cant even match with the speeds of s2.having a higher proc. speed
When does xperia sl come out is it this year or next anyone got the specs on that it should be a little better than xperia s ?

It's ok found that answer of sorts http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/sony-xperia-sl-new-snaps-show-off-samey-xperia-s-sequel-50008802/

16GB version of Google Nexus is still better that Xperia phones or LG, thrust me. Plus, you can use USB OTG. You can also consider buying Galaxy S3 if it isn't to expensive for you. Those two are currently top Android phones on the market in my opinion.
Why not just get the One XL? Beats the other phones in terms of CPU power, isn't too far off with price (depends on your plan), and you can use 4G once it gets rolled out
In my experience, LG isn't the worst in software updates (*ahem* motorola) and there's more customisability because they don't lock most of their phones at all (my O3D being a good example). However the UI is heavily customised and you might not like the LG flavour of ICS.
Xperia S looks cool, feels fast even though it has a Snapdragon S3. Sony is also usually good with software updates (the ICS update being the exception rather than the norm) and their phones are generally zippy.
Xperia Acro S... no experience with it, it's not even here yet
Still, keep your options open. If you can wait until September, wait til then. The PC show offers the best deals
This is crazy. Get the Sammy S3 or GNote. Both are way better than any of those mentioned so far. Or just wait for the GNote 2, this will be the best phone around.

You should go with the Nexus or the GS3. You could use some cloud storage, or go with the GS3.
Thanks for all ur suggestions guys. I decided to pick up a 4X HD and give it my sis. I will probably change my phone around November now. Hopefully Xperia GX will arrive on the international market by then

Here's my thoughts on the Sony Arco S:
I got it to use while cycling so I wouldn't have to worry if it got wet (or I used my sweaty hands). It is my secondary phone (primary is a Galaxy Note). Before this, I had an Samsung S2 and a Sony Active. This is replacing the Active.
Very solid feel slightly heavier than you would expect for its size. Screen is nice. Came with ICS (4.04) installed. It also came with a recharging base unit which is very nice. It has some software that recognizes when you drop it into the base and will launch any app that you want. It is a nice phone all around BUT I prefer my S2 as it is about the same size. However if you NEED that water resistant feature this is a great way to go. The Active worked but it was too small, this one's screen is nice sized.
RevDoug
I prefer acro S. It's have ip67 certificate
Sorry for my bad English

New Arc Series

What do u guys think abt the new Arc series the Xperia T & Xperia V
:highfive:
both the Xperia T & the V already beats the Galaxy S III & the oneX in the Benchmark tests
New arc series!!if they are anything like the original arc/s they'll be excellent, competition should be worried!!!

I just read that article on GSMArena, and my hart was... like house!
New Arcy Xperias with krait dual-cores are beating other flagships so badly that I just can't believe... I can only say, WOW.
Haha, watch your asses, SONY beasts are coming!
PS: You should rename topic into "There's a storm coming, Mr. Samsung", like one user commented on GSMArena.
The Xperia V looks promising, and it's very good to see Sony returning to replaceable batteries and microSD slots after abandoning those in the NXT line. I would personally have liked to see real, hardware buttons for home/back/menu but I guess all the manufacturers have dropped those now.
yup..both look kool...they will be launched in october 1st week atleast in India
im slightly dissapointed.......that i bought the gs3!!!! Man I loved my arc but i just had to move on....one month too soon. the new series are great though, cant wait to try them!
super awesome. i will buy xperia v, even if i'm child an can't pay money for LTE (80€/month) xD
But its water resistant and is the fastest device avaible, with dual-core, which is way better than Galaxy S3.... Because Power of Dual-Core..and saving power and heat.. awesome, but LTE i can't pay i dont have enough money
I wanted to upgrade to s3. but the new sony xperia T keeps the arc design. along with the beast dual core krait processor!!! Can't wait for the upgrade.
I'm waiting to see how much they will retail this mobile here in the US. It just might be my next mobile, the T-TX.

Xperia V looks promising...
I just hope the price would range as a mid-level phone
I like the V also. I downloaded the user guide for the SL, which DOES have a removable battery cover. But the software for the V has me waiting for its release.

Do you like jokes ? : Adreno 200
You want a joke ? 512 Ram + 1ghz single core
Looks gooood:laugh:
I wonder why the TX was revealed quietly at IFA. Maybe because it has similar specs to the T but the TX is my personal favourite. The GX/TX design is better than the T design imo.
Only if the T and TX had LTE. Flagship phones without the fastest data speed mediums available is a minus.

will i bea able to use 4g on AT&T with the xperia V?
don't u guys think that xperia SL is the awesomest...
I mean its the only phone with 1.7 ghz processor...?
I saw one of us talking about the much awaited software from xperia V.... what's so special?
i liked the xperia SL better ?
Aniket from XDA Premium app.
hit thanks if i've helped u.
It might, just have to look at the specs.

I'm interested in the 13mp camera that the Tx has, I wonder if its better (if any) than the S
nice
well Samsung, I think I'll stick with Sony for a while. They're just too good to miss.
