what upgrades should i do to an o2 that i have just received

i have just put my sim card in but the OS is
ROM version 3.14.17 ENG
ROM date 10/11/02
Radio verison 4.16
Protocol Version 32554
are there any upgrades or programs i should add or is it fine as it is?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I would suggest leaving the radio stack alone if it works ok. You can backup your current rom to sd card then go cook a rom with lots of extra features and software in the unused rom space at one of the kitchens.
Hi ... congratulations first
Your ROM is PPC2002, so you may consider upgrading to WM2003 (it's not essential tho  ).
In all cases, if your Radio is working fine (the phone part), just do NOT touch it!!
Take enough time to read in this forum before any steps or questions ... Good luck
O2 XDA and WM2003
I just saw posts on this thread, is it possible (safe?) to put WM2003 on an O2 XDA. What ROM upgrade should be used? I ask because I got impression that 2003 upgrade was vendor sensitive and you had to use (if they did one) your vendors upgrade. (i.e. Siemens, etc). Thanks for help, maybe I get to update after all !!

XDA ROM Upgrade

OK guys I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to all this flashing milarky.
Is there a ROM I can use?
XDA PW10A1
ROM 3.17.03 ENG
Radio 4.21.00
OS PocketPC Version 3.0.12039
Carrier o2
This OS i think is 2002? (Correct me please)
I want to be able to run the latest Pocket PC version and keep my radio stack right?
Step by step instructions would be nice
Oh by the way I have a 256 Mb SD card but no reader and don't want to use SD for the bootloader

* Yes, it's 2002 Pocket PC
* If you don't want to use the SD method, then you can use Program A.
Do a search in these forums for ROM KITCHEN. You will find everything you need there.
* These forums DO work, but you only gave it an hour after your first post to complain about "bad" voluntary service. Please be a bit patient next time. Besides, if you searched the forum before you posted, you would have gotten the answer yourself in under 10 minutes.

Dowgrading TyTN from WM6 to WM5

Hi All,
I have recently upgraded my TyTN to WM6 without any problems during the upgrade. I have since found the device to become excessively slow. I called the HTC Support guys in our country but the answers were vague and not very helpful.
Some of the retailers have told I need to upgrade my simcard from a 16k to 64k card. Is this true?
Does running a new OS not require a memory upgrade? I bought a 1GB memory card for the phone but its still slow.
Can I downgrade to WM5 again? If so, how do I do it?
Device info:
ROM ver: 3.54.255.3
ROM date: 07/05/07
Radio ver: 1.48.00.10
Model No: HERM200
Is there anything I can do to speed up the phone?
Is it common/usual for the phone to be slow?
Can I make it faster?
Is it not compatible with WM6?
Thanks for the help.....

Qtek 9100 with San Disk miniSD 2Gb?

Hi, first of all - great forum. Good work.
I also have a qtek 9100 and I bought recently a San Disk miniSD 2Gb.
Too bad - it does not work on my device. (yet?)
I have read few threads and had seen different statements.
So, is it possible somehow to get that intention of making the miniSd card running on my Device?
If so, what do I need and where do I get it from.
If not, what cards work 100 % on my device?
Would appriciate any answers.
Thank you in advance
Rom Version 10.1.0.811 WWE
ROM Date 8.11.06
Radio version 02.25.11
Protocol Version 4.1.13.12

Speed of BA w/WM2003?

By virtue of my 2 x XDAII's failing for whatever reasons (abuse, long-life, etc.), I had to shift to one of my XDAII's (BA) with base OS:
=======================================
WM2003 SE
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 15045.2.6.0)
Processor: Intel(R) PXA263
Memory: 125.77 MB
ROM v.: 1.40.00 WWE
ROM date: 03/10/05
Radio: 1.12.00
Protocol: 1337.42
ExtROM v: 1.40.923 WWE
Model No.: PH20B
=================================
I have found that this phone is WAY SLOWER than the XDAII - it's really incredibly slow! (And I had my XDAII with less RAM available!)
I have had problems connecting in Mumbai (India) with Vodafone (this happens with other units (EDGE modem/XDAII) too, but this is *extreme*!
I have to shut off the radio (put into flight mode) then back on, in order to connect to GPRS, or it simply will not connect!
I have tried flashing the ROM for the radio to 1.15, but I have to edit the file on the unit, else I get the error - it's really very time-consuming!
I'm afraid that all my time that I put into this unit will go to waste if I do not have a stable unit that I can rely on....
Any feedback on this?
Thanks!
Try the T-Mobile's rom or PDA2K's rom in Blue Angel Upgrading section.
The O2 rom bugs me too much.
Also install O2 Asia upgrade (I guess u r running a non asian one thats why BA isnt showing compatibility with ur network. Try upgrading to WM5/6 and see if u have luck on GSM/GPRS since majority of asian networks phail with BA WM5/6/6.1/6.5

Yes, it's the O2 ROM - not sure if this one was the one I bought in SIN or in the UK...any ideas, or way to tell?
Both were O2 branded....

Which is the best upgrade (simplest) to do, stable, with almost no bugs, with a similar to original config/options?
TIA!
well first of all if you want less bugs do not install the OEM crapware (the extrom software) you may even resize the extrom partition to 128 k to use the space as storage
http://alevri.atspace.com/ - updated Shipped roms list and mirrors which i will keep online
My advice is to flash the latest t-mobile 1.42 rom delete radio and extrom update files and flash rom only

Wow - thanks for the tips - wonderful to have the gurus of the BA helping us!
So, how does one delete the radio files?
I unzipped and extracted, then ran the .exe file, which started the RUU update.

Why can't you? Keep in mind that you can only do this only in 2003. So, from what I have read in your other posts you are either in 6.1 or in 6.5 (going back to 6.1). You have to use the Repart_doc and the ExtRom Unlocker tools in order to do so.
Aside from everything, I have been using xplode's version of 6.5 and I am pretty happy with it (both stability and usability)-wise.
If you are absolutely disgusted by it, you should try sun_dream's 20578. Best 6.1 that I have had...
Hope this helps.
@egzthunder1: did back to original rom wm2003 02XDAIIs and other cooked rom in wm2003, but it failed due to physical logic reason when im runnig repart_doc.exe. but when im expand my SX66 its work!! weird thing.

That is the weirdest thing... it should work fine since it is the same phone...
