Assume I can't use Web Services - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Hi all.
Just unlocked an O2 XDA and inserted a Voda sim.
Voice works great. Do I take it i now can't connnect to the internet?
I presume it's O2 specific and that I can't
a) Connect to it now I'm not using an O2 sim?
b) Connect via Voda because they don't have such a service?
Is there any way to connect to the O2 data service while using somebody elses sim for voice??
Pushing it a bit I know but there you go.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

You just need to create a new connection in settings/connections and enter the details for your vodafone service provider. I dont know if you can access one service providers services using a third party sim card.

Orange PAYG GPRS

Orange (UK) now do pay as you go GPRS. They do it both on airtime contracts for £3/MB and on pay as you go (no contract) for £4/MB.
Someone on this board already posted settings for the contract/payg GPRS (£3) option. I am trying to get it running on payg/payg (£4) option.
I have the GPRS connecting, but web browsing doesn't go anywhere.
Anyone else tried with success ?
Are there any ipconfig like utils for the XDA so I can troubleshoot it ?
My XDA works on Orange
I just got my XDA working on orange
phone number *99#
access point name orangeinternet
Thats it, when you connect it asks for username, password etc, ignore this and just hit connect

I'm slightly confused by your response.
The access point orangeinternet is only for use by (voice) contract sims, and the access point payginternet is for use with payg sims.
Are you using a contract sim or a payg sim ?
If your using a contract sim you missed the point of the original question.
If I try to connect to orangeinternet with my payg sim no connection is made. If I connect to payginternet, a connection is made but no data is transferred.
delhaze,
have you managed to set it up on payginternet?
I'm trying to work it out myself. I sure would love to know whether you have got it going.
Cheers !

GPRS settings for T-Mobile NL??

I downloaded the T-Mobile (NL) application for PPC2002 ("T-Mobile GPRS Connect") which should take care of the GPRS connections, but it does not work. It keeps complaining about not able to open the modem connection (I'm using the Cellular Line modem): "Can not find the name of the serial port".
Anybody any ideas?
It is a nice utility which displays the speed, send/received bytes and connection time, but useless sofar...

hey marco,
i bought a t-mobile pocket pc in the US and unlocked it. With my vodafone sim i now can do everythinh with the device. So I know how to make a GPRS connection to Vodafone, but don't know the settings for t-mobile.
A few days ago I also tried to install t-mobile app. but it sucks. I suggest you try to find out the correct settings with t-mobile nl to make a descent GPRS setting and not use the t-mobile application

Unlocking it to take payg sim from contract

Please could somebody tell me whether or not i can unlock a XDAI to take a payg sim, from a contract one!!!!!! and if so how it is done please
If you are staying with the same provider with your payg sim then there is no need. If you wish to unlock to another provider you can try xdaunlock, xda manipulator with serial cable or you can install the special edition rom.
The thing is with that Cruisin-Thru is that when i try my o2 payg simcard i get no signal and the network does not recognize the simcard, having talked to o2 they say that because it was a contract phone it cannot be used as a payg phone....
You can stick both a standard or Online (Genie) P&G SIM into a XDA1 & it will work perfectly fine until you go to access the Mobile Internet via GPRS (which isn't possible on P&G). You can still use the Mobile Internet over GSM though (including MSN Messenger). The only settings that need to be changed after changing the SIM is the APN & username for the GPRS WAP & the Message Centre number.
I would take a look at your SIM before the device as no modifications are needed to the hardware such as unlocking to use a P&G SIM in them.

setting up Internet connection on O2 xda Atom with T-Mobile USA?

Hi,
I got my Atom on a trip to Asia but I live in the US and subscribe to T-Mobile. When I put my T-Mobile SIM card in, I was able to use all phone and text messaging capabilities except for T-zones, to which I used to be able to connect just by pushing the T-zones button on my old T-mobile phone. The phone plan I am on does have T-zones unlimited (I had to pay extra for it) so I am sure there must be a way to do this on the Atom.
So could anybody please show me how do this? I've seen several similar requests on this board but they were mostly for T-Mobile UK. Any help/advice/tutorial links appreciated.
Thanks!
i m afraid u can't do this when u r on roaming at other country. when u roam on other service provider's network (not on ur home network), T-Mobile may restrict u fr accessing their resources as they "think" u r intruder, not the home user since the request come fr different network.
there may b a workaround by other users. otherwise, check wit T-Mobile at ur home country.

T-Mobile 3g setup ?

Does anyone know how to make my universial connect to tmobiles 3G ?
im using a T-mobile sim and contract any ideas ?
most of the roms have the operstor settings.. so it will ask to set up operator setting automatically after flash, or you can search for your service providers cab, which will do all the necessary thing to get it connected...
