Hi all
Hope you all had a great christmas
Okay, back to my question ... when you tap on the input method selection arrow at the bottom of your screen, does it take like forever ... okay, not forever, but more like 6-8 seconds ... for the popup menu to appear and let you select type of input method to use ?
Is there a way to speed this up ?
Takes forever here too. I did use Tweak2k2 to hide some SIPs I never use, plus I have Calligrapher installed.
If you've installed too many sips and uninstalled them....basically messed around with the SIPs (installing and uninstalling)....the registry gets messed up. This makes wm5 to keep thinking and looking for certain dlls until it gives up...
the only way is, do a cleanup (hard reset) and install only the ones you need and are sure of sticking with it until the next hard reset
cheers!

Do you have Voice Command installed? If you do, that will slow down the SIP selection.

Wonder if it's a WM5 thing because I noticed it on my Wizard and now on my Magician II and just assumed that it was due to the 200Mhz processor. If you're seeing in on a Universal then I guess it can't be a processor thing. It is BLOODY annoying as I only ever use Letter Recogniser and very occasionally the Keyboard, but for some reason it keeps defaulting to the keyboard, particularly aftr the (all too frequent in WM5) soft reset.

Hmmm, as a matter of fact, i do have Voice Command installed ... but I seem to recall seeing this slow SIP selection even before that. Anyway, I have disabled Voice Command and it's still just as slow.
Can anyone else here who does not have Voice Command installed verify this ?

Indeed, it is bloody annoying ... I don't see how popping up a menu of available input methods can take that long. It's not like we're asking it to load all the input methods, we just wanna see the list of available methods.
I am also facing the same problem of defaulting to keyboard after a soft reset

I have a qtek 9000 running on the stock rom. My sip opens up almost instantaneously.
Before which, I had the same issue when I was beta testing calligrapher on another device running wm5. It apparently was a problem with one of the beta builds of calligrapher which they claim to have fixed in their final release...however, I've never installed the final release on my universal. So if you have CG installed, try not to install after a hard reset (Last time i had this issue, i had to hard reset...that was the only way out)

For some reason I'm having a problem with my WM6 flashed BA, and SMS event alerts (I did read something about this on the forum some times ago)
SMS'ses are received okay, but no sound alarm is given
As I do not really want to check my BA every 5 minutes to see if I received one, I would like to get the SMS alert to work.
I'm in China at the moment for work (and will be for some more days), and access to internet is kind of hard (and really slow) for me from here. Searching the forum is hard.
Anyone here who could point me to the needed files to get SMS alert working?
Thank you.
- Click Start-Setting-Sound&Notification.
- Notification (alarm, reminders) must be checked.
- Select Notifications tab
- Select Event-Messaging: New text message
- Play sound must be checked

Yes thats what I have, but no sound is played! It's a "bug" in the ripped WM6 as far as I know.
There is a fix for this (some files, and reg settings).. Question is.. what files / reg settings are needed.
Smiley SMS
Try install Smiley SMS, it helps me.

have you try the 007orjiuli 's ROM?
ni hao ma
Try this
Install HTC x button 1.5 or higher (ver 1.0 is installed by default)
After running the sms app goto xbutton settings and then set the sms program (Tmail.exe) to 'Exclusive' So that it stays running in the background.
I had this problem but after I did this it has been perfect.
Hope it can help you too.

Okay. I was still on the 1.0 version, but managed to update to the 1.5 version.
Now I need to find a way to add "Messaging" Tmail.exe to the Exclusive list.
Running Tmail.exe, and going to X-button's Exlusive tab does not work (it's not showing anything in the list)
Thank you for helping.
btw. I'm in KL (Kuala Lumpur) at the moment. Internet access is a bit better from the hotel, but will only be here for an other 4 days. Than back to China
Did you installed Helmi WM6_Soundfix.cab ?
There is in the Addon folder, in the Helmi WM6 ROM package.

I installed Smiley SMS and it DID NOT solve the problem. Anyone else have any other ideas?
Thanks.
Hi,
I've just got an XDA mini S on O2. Despite the check box in the messages section being unchecked, the sound being entirely off or on vibrate and the setting in sounds and notifications being left off, I still get the really irritating SMS sent message and ring tone. I don't mind the pop up but I want the phone to actually be silent when I tell it to be. I've tried the Reg changes using Total Commander - both SMSNoSentMsg and SMSDisableNotification neither seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me mad.
Thanks
Tom

I'm not sure what version of Windows Mobile you are using on your device, but there is a way to correct this in WM6. Download and install the program I have attached below and then configure it however you like.
It is called Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool. It will allow you change a number of settings including the Message Sent notification.
This should work for you. Good luck!
Dan.
its wm5. the latest from O2.
Would that tool work in wm5?
To tell you the truth, I don't know. I have never tried it on WM5.
The only thing I could really tell you is to give it a try and if it didn't work then what do you have to lose? If it doesn't work then just un-install it.
I tried it and it didn't work.
Thoroughly annoying.

First download totalcmd (another file browser)
Create a blank wav file.. call it notify.wav (sometimes notify.wma)
Use totalcmd to replace the one in the windows directory with the one you created..
It works with some versions of wm5 though, so good luck..
I finally got it to work using the blank wav method above. Took a while as I forgot to change the read only bit. Bizarrely I can't delete the original so currently have 2 versions according to some explorers but only 1 according to others. Either way a test proved that I no longer get the tone.
HURRAH
Fantastic stuff guys, this has been annoying the hell out of me for ages. It is the notification of how much credit left on the PAYG card from O2. Does my head in!
Disable SMS Sent Notification
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
Click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
Name the New Key as "Settings"
Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Soft reset your device
What about notifications of the network?
There are some notifications (i.e. network messages) that still notify with a sound even when the device is on silent mode. Is there any workaround on this?
Great program! I was wrecking my brain trying to figure out how to disable the notification sound on my Htc Touch, none of the registry hacks worked for me.
Awesome app! I can't thank you enough for posting it--that noise was getting really irritating.
thanks dharvey for the application!!! it works great!! no more irritating notification!!! =)
Hi all,
I have noticed a strange issue with my UK Vodafone HTC Magic (default factory build). I downloaded the slightly better HTC keyboard Touch Input and installed it to my phone. If I go to "Settings" > "Locale & text" I can see the option to turn on the Touch Input, but have no option to turn off the Android Keyboard. Hence, as it stands I cannot use any alternative keyboard (e.g. the HTC one or even Better Keyboard), as I've no means to turn off the default keyboard.
Can any other UK owners confirm that this is the case? Only I have searched all over the place and cannot see any reference to this issue. I am assuming it is a restriction of build to ensure people don't switch off the keyboard in error, rendering the phone useless as it has no hardware one to fall back on. Nonetheless though, it does seem rather odd.
If I am correct and it simply isn't an option, is there anything I can do to enable it short of rooting the phone?
Thanks in advance for your help!
same issue here after installing key
I had the compact keyboard working on the jf 1.51 build on my G1, but not on my Magic.
Yeah this is 100% factory spec - ie as its received out the box from Vodafone. Hence I'm guessing the option has been hidden, which seems pretty daft. I'm assuming I could still do a Force Close on the Android Keyboard to force the issue, but obviously that isn't a long-term fix.
Took me a little while to figure this one out but it doesn't set it as the active keyboard by just enabling it in 'settings'.
You have to go to an input box (eg. compose a text message) and select the text input box using the trackball (hold it down) after a few secs a menu appears allowing you to choose your keyboard.
Funny enough I was just coming in here to say that I'd found the solution, but you beat me to it! The one I found was pressing and holding the "123?" button, which then brought up the option to select the input method. Worked a treat.
Thanks for replying though; had I not stumbled on the answer myself you would have been a lifesaver!
Where we I find the HTC KB, i had a look on another post which suggested a file name .. HTC Chime i think - But googling that yielded nothing - Any clues anyone?
Found out one that works and installs w/o issue.
I downloaded the file called HTC_IME.apk, and this installed, without any issues. Works great, and has Full Size Qwerty, xT9, and Compact Qwerty(like Blackberry Pearl). Do a search on google for HTC IME.apk+android, and install it. Issue resolved!
Big big big thank you to swifty and trickshot!!! I had this working on my G1 and could not get it working on my magic, I was getting so frustrated. You ARE lifesavers!!
great discovery, thank you very much for this discovery, i'm going to install htc_cime again
Thanks, it works for me too

Alll existing SIP's work but after a reboot a app crashes on startup but your select keyboard does become the default one
I've had success with both PortSIP and the WM client cab file in the following link:

Need to edit your dialplan with the cab file but otherwise both routes worked fine.

May I know what you did after installing the WM client?
Can you use it from the HTC Sense Dialer?
thanks
Yep, you can use it from the sense dialer.
You've to activate "internet calls" in "Settings > Personal > Phone" on the "internet" tab.
Then when you're connected to a WLAN, you can see in the dialer the name of the VoIP service you use.
So, when you make a call, it automatically use the SIP account defined in WM settings!
In fact, on my HD2, it works well, but the sound comes from the external speaker... that's a shame!
And I even tried to install audioroute, but then the volume is too low.
So, if you find a solution to this problem, this would be really nice to share it!
Good luck!

I don't know what the problem is. I had originally downloaded Audioreoute just in case as I expected the speaker problem from reading the threads... but no issue for me. I tried installing audioroute anyways and it had no effect.
Maybe another program getting in the way? I had mine set-up on a completely fresh install with no other apps.
Do you have the same problem using PortSIP? That worked for me pretty well also but doesn't handle incoming calls properly when the device is in standby.

Really the only way to check is to turn off Sense UI in the today screen options and check off the internet calling today item. Then from the home screen you can see the status of your internet phone connection.
Other option is to install something like second today with the same item checked so you can switch to that to monitor it.
