16bit BMP Editor for XDA logo - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

Please can anybody send me a link or a program that can edit and save 16bit BMP picture that i can use for XDA logo.. thanks in Advance

If you want to create the boot splash screen, simply use Adobe PhotoShop, save using 'Windows', 16 bit, R5 G6 B5, and 'inverted'.
Good luck...

I use Photoshop 7 and it has the options. the R5G6B5 refers to using 5 of the 16 bits for red, 6 for green, and 5 for Blue. (The XDA screen only does 4 bits per color...)

Share your CM7 Voodoo Color settings

There's a thread on this in the Nexus S forum, but I figured we could start one here for the locals.
Thanks to Tk-Glitch and times_infinity, we now have the beauty that is Voodoo Color available for CM7. Please share and discuss your voodoo color settings. Of course, everyone's experience will vary. This is just what works for your phone.
Here's mine:
Color profile: Voodoo profile v1
RGB multipliers:
Red: 2771276480
Green: 2853085440
Blue: 2812181120
Gamma hack:
Red: -26
Green: -30
Blue: -33
It would be awesome if somebody that has a display calabrating device stick it on the phone and give use some "professional" numbers to start off at. This is done often in the HDTV world.

I am running these settings directly from the post in the nexus s forum. Looks absolutely superb even at low brightness.
The only quirk with these settings is having to leave minimum brightness at the default 20%, no biggie.

Yeah its a good start, they are similar to what I ended up with after an hour of messing around with the phone. The thing that sticks out to me is the screen clarity definitely suffered. If you get a picture that has tiny details like a black leather wallpaper that shows grain, there is a noticeable difference from stock to the above posted settings in shadow detail and image clarity. I'll keep messing around with it more and post later on.

I'll see what I can get going on this. May take some time but I'll get on it when I can.

It looks great, but i can't stand how the screen messes up when it goes to "dim" mode (on miui anyway).

Nope. This setting will be safe.
Also,
And just as an update, glitch's new kernel fixes this issue (beta tested atm); so you will be able to use any setting you want without the screen freaking out once he releases it.
Anyone have any better settings for our device? The nexus s ones look pretty good. Anyone do a pro calibration yet for the fascinate?

Bumping this to see if we can get anymore setups
I'll post my setup just in case anyone else finds it useful. I found that some of the settings posted were somewhat red/green when the screen was really dim (my dim setting is at 10), so I blued it up a bit. Things may not be all that different from stock, I haven't really compared.
voodoo profile v1
Screen RGB:
Red - 23111...
Green - 18713...
Blue - 23724...
Gamma offset:
Red -14
Green -17
Blue -18
EDIT: When looking at my gmail inbox (namely, unread messages), I still found the gray to be too red. If you agree, I've toned the red setting in SRGB to 21168...
Cleanest colors for me were as follows:
RGB Mulipliers:
Red=4294967290
Green=3354165120
Blue=4294967290
Gamma Offsets:
Red=0
Green=0
Blue=0
All the others I tried were just too red, green, or dark. These are perfect for me, try it out yourself!
--Changed my settings a couple days later..see this post.
Spent some time and found these to be the best settings for me.

Well, tried all the other listed here...liking yours the best so far..wish the app allowed you to TYPE in the values as well as the sliders...o well..
Anyone have the equivalent stock values for this(CM7 stock kernel)...I flashed the glitch kernel and was very put off by the ugly warm color scheme....what was wrong with stock colors any way...IMO they should have some Presets, like Stock, Cool Warm, Standard...kinda like they do for desktop monitors..

It will be fixed in the next glitch update. I'm about to post my color settings which have great vibrance in all brightnesses and color ranges, white whites and black blacks. I have tried just about every recommended setting and nothing has looked quite right until I spent some time making my own.

[SETTINGS & QUESTION] CM Color tuning, post question and settings here

Ok, i started this thread to discuss about new CM9 feature: the color tuning
The feature, with build 14, has become mature and then here we can share our best settings
Remeber that screens aren't all the same so colors can varie from phone to phone, but generally there aren't much difference
Please use this thread only for CM color question
The general cm9 thread is here
All other question will be ignored
so far i'm using
Red 0.917
Green 1
Blue 0.944
red gamma 11
green gamma 12
blue gamma 11
Setting must be with this format
Red
Green
Blue
Red gamma
Green gamma
Blue gamma
but i'm not 100% satisfied, so i'm working to get better possible
hi there...before i start fiddling with it..can u help me understand what each slider do?
Also..right now the CM colors are perfect but there is a lot of noise in darker pictures how can i correct it without making the overall picture yellowish?
thanks!

First slider's series concern rgb adjustement, the second change the gamma of each color
I'm trying to understand how it works properly
With these adjustment you can mix red, green and blu and try to have best looking possible color
If you set all color t same setting would be few useless, we must try differents level to have acceptable black and white, which are the extreme opposite colors
Maybe someone can help faster than me
As I wrote in the CM9 General thread, your settings look amazing erto90.
I tried messing around myself but I don't have the eye for this stuff.

I've reached my settings after 15m of trying but i think we can do better!
So, guys, share best settings you can!
So messing around again with this, I just put gamma to 20 on all colors, using the color settings in OP, and I am really liking it.
Edit:
Red gamma 11
Green gamma 15
Blue gamma 11

That's made to avoid the green bug at minimum darkness and to try to keep acceptable dark greys.
Sure it's still quite saturated but anything with more gamma turn the grey too bright...
Though I have to say it's better than Voodoo hack, perhaps because the MDNIE are disabled (they lighten the greys and turn them red on Samsung roms).

It's a kind of filter that boosts particular colours, quite like digital vibrance on your PC video card.
I don't like this, it gives more banding and tint in the dark greys.

KCAL Colour Calibration

Has anyone played with KCAL values to tweak their display settings?
Edit//
For those wondering here's my setup, you must be on an AOSP rom:
ROM: AICP latest nightly
Kernel: Furnace kernel
Tools: KCAL Color Control & Whetstone
Values for deeper blues/blacks and more of an AMOLED feel:
R:245
G:245
B:256
S:50
V:128
C:128
Also from Superuser_, for those who do not have the SVC options

BIG difference, stock settings gives off a yellowish white (compared to my G2) and with this setting it matches whites exactly. i wish it were a bit brighter though.

HTC One (M9) Colour Control Screen Settings

Hello!
My first thread on XDA Developers.
I've been a lurker on these forums for some time having used various custom ROMs and kernels for Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7 and now Android. I've mostly been a big advocate of Samsung gear until they decided to release the S6 with no storage expansion as this is what I looked for in any phone I upgraded to. This led me to buy the HTC One M9. The community so far has been great with custom ROMS and Kernels with the limited sources provided by HTC so I figured I would give something back to the HTC One M9 community.
Now it has been said that the HTC One M9 screen is not as great as it could be and is in fact a downgrade compared to the M7 and M8. This is mostly due to the fact the screen is calibrated very "cool" (8500k) temperature. With that in mind I just used my X-Rite i1Display Pro to get the white point to D65 (aka 6500k) and succeeded within a few minutes.
The settings I have are for the HTC One M9 UK EE gold/gold edition but I'm sure the settings can be used on other variants from other network providers in other countries too as it will at least get you close to D65 for more accurate colour reproduction on the screen.
I guess I've said a lot so I'll shut up and share the settings with you - please note I've used the colour control aspect of the custom kernels available to make the changes.
Ew that's crazy yellow lol. Try mine
I forgot to mention the rest of the saturation, value, contrast, hue need to be set to their default.
Considering my settings are not working on yours Reubenskelly1992 and yours are VERY blue, even more so than what I had out of the box on my M9, could it be there's a much bigger variation in screen quality?

LeeDroid added a Brightness patch here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60639310
It seems to have helped the look of my kcal settings. I turn off auto brightness and set mine too about 55% (2 clicks in the quick setting toggle)
These are my settings I use with ex app. Gives me a little more saturation and darker blacks
flar2 has added the color control for the stock kernel here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/development/mod-color-control-t3104598
you will still need custom recovery and root to use it
ViperOneM9 1.6.0 has added the RGB color control also.
To get everyone up to speed @LeeDroid added this feature about 2 weeks ago and their seem to be 2/3 different set of settings that bring the display up to the M8 standard.

you will still need custom recovery and root to use it
ViperOneM9 1.6.0 has added the RGB color control also.
To get everyone up to speed @LeeDroid added this feature about 2 weeks ago and their seem to be 2/3 different set of settings that bring the display up to the M8 standard.

Would you guys mind posting which LCDs each of you have for your recommended settings? I'd imagine these settings only work with specific screens.

On general these should work and it's a guideline so every device may be slightly different but probably just a little bit of tweaking

[BOOTANIMATION] NEW Leaked Android Nougat 7.0 Boot Animation

LEAKED MARLIN AND SAILFISH BOOTANIMATION
Info + Intro
via @@urmilshroff on G+ I have created my first project - a bootanimation based on this source. My version is a 1080p Manual install that works good on my Nexus 5 and OnePlus 3, both with 1080p displays. For my version of the project, I have "open sourced" it; resources available here.
These resources have allowed for projects for other devices, such as this port for 480p displays here, so you can feel free to use them too.
Mentions, honours and credits
@@urmilshroff for requesting the project in the first place.
@@androcraze for helping me out in the beginning and then continuing to maintain the project.
This should work for all 1080p and 720p devices.
Tell me what device you have if it worked for you.
Confirmed working on:
OnePlus 3
Nexus 5
Xiaomi Mi 3
Bugs and/or issues
- File unknown bugs here
- Not flashable, my flashables refuse to work, see @@androcraze's flashables of my version.

Finally cleaned up OP, enjoy!
I really do appreciate your work, but could you not just cut the video on screenshot and make a config file how should they change(btw there is some sort of a mistake in its first part), but at least fullfil all screen in white color? It's not so hard to do and this write rectangle looks really... werid, I dunno...
And in my opinion, Google won't use white background for bootanimation in final release, or they would need to change the bootlogo for other supported nexus devices too :/

Thanks for the notice, just realised there's a bug in the beginning. I'll work to get that fixed.
Since this is my first boot animation I'm not really into developing yet, could you please further explain what you mean by config file?
Of course Google won't use a white background, but it's the only source I have gotten. I'll see if I can find a way to fill in the background.
This video, in fact, isn't screenshots, used a tool called ffmeg.
I, to some extent, made this to test my skills and whether I could do it for a guy on G+ (You may know him, he's called Urmil Shroff)
@ZeevoX thanks for your contribution, I will be posting the actual bootanimation.zip file soon in the Android Themes section, formatted perfectly for MM and LP devices.
Possibly even with the sound.
Cool!

So is it your own work or is it based off mine? Out of curiosity, how would you add a boot sound?

It is based on Google's original resources from my Marlin dump, so I have them at all resolutions.
Sounds have to be hacked I somehow.
@nicholaschum Oh, nice! Where did you obtain the Marlin dump in the first place then?

My team has a connection of whom gave us the whole system dump. My G+ I've been posting things AndroidPolice and AndroidAuthority hasn't posted before, and when they do we leak more information.
Any fix yet for a full white screen boot or will it be black? This is great
This will work on Nexus 5x ?

Yep, because it's also got a 1080p display.

I agree. And it doesn't look very good with black and white and for me even flicker...

You need to edit the desc.txt file for the correct resolution.

Great! Glad to hear!
Doesn't work on Samsung Galaxy S5. It has a resolution of 1080 x 1920, so it should work :/
EDIT: Ok, fixed it. Had to edit the desc.txt and use c's instead of 'ps

Can you post a sample of your desc.txt?
The thing about "c's" vs. "p's" is that the c's are "timed" to system events, or at least I believe that they are:
Code:
p 0 0 part3
will never go past this line, yet:
Code:
c 0 0 part3
does, if some "milestone" is reached.
Different devices have different animation rollouts and structure. I always shy away from "c's", unless I'm modifying frames in an existing animation.

Code:

I just tried it, because the default bootanimation of my ROM (Resurrection Remix) uses c's. And with c's its working on my SGS5, with p's not.
By the way: great work, I love it.

UPDATE: The animations in this thread are probably for a future version of Nougat, perhaps 7.1. The current Nougat animation is a derivative of the stock Marshmallow animation; the main difference is the "Google" text-logo at the beginning of the Nougat version. Both are very close. I have copies of both (and "maxed" versions) for 1080p in my boot animations thread (check my signature).
@ZeevoX has really done a great job getting the Nougat animation on the N5; he's put much work into converting things, and should be commended for both inspiration and perseverance.
He's more than welcome to use the above modifications in his thread, if they are acceptable. My main concern is whether they work on multiple platforms, not just the N5.
