This week I'm hoping to give the ol wizard wiki a bit of an update. I am asking people to contribute ideas on what is good and what is bad about the current format, this will aid me in my attempt.
So far I am hoping to add a very basic "Help Im Stuck in Bootloader" troubleshoot part. I believe this could reduce the amount of these sorts of posts that appear in the wizard forum.
I'm also going to try to add and maintain a list of the most common roms. I know this changes as often as my mrs changes outfits, but it might also help the first time flashers, and weed out those "Which rom is best guys?" posts.
Please let me know what else needs updating/fixing, if there isnt much of an interest in this then I wont change anything except for the essential parts that need updating.
p.s I am aware that even the most informative and easy to read wiki will be ignored by newbies

Hi everyone
I just purchased this phone or pda off ebay and I am going to be signing up with att. Right now I can use it because I have been given 30 day trial. I love it but I am having trouble with some aspects of it. There is so much to know. One of the problems I have had is sending email through ebay. I bougth this to do business. If i try to answer a question through my ebay messages when I push to send the reply message nothing happens. I also try to access tmobile to make a payment and when i enter password and log on it wont log on, the page just sits there. Are there tweak for this. Also on craiglist I tried to post an ad an when I went to post it I got a message that said unable to process request. Any help or suggestion fo my new phone in reagrd to tweaking it will help. I have also noticed that aol messages loads slowly on egde. Are there any tweaks for this. It can take forever. I know I have a lot to lear and this is my first smatphone and I am excited about it but I am also lost. Thanks in advance for any sugestion or help

first thing to do is to start looking at custom Roms, the operating system of your device, and find one that will do what you are looking for.
then if you decide to upgrade, then read this very closely and follow the instruction to the letter,

most of the problems that you mentioned could just be a browser problem, lots of pages dont work the same, but the general consensus is that PIE blows, you might want to try a different browser. opera, and opera mini seems to be very popular. I feel obligated to mention menneisyys' guides on browser which you can find in the wiki (otherwise he's gonna butt in and mention it himself in this thread ).
Thank you so much. I believe I have WM6 on my device Im not sure if it came from att or was downloaded. How would I check to see if WM6 is on my phone. If it is do I go to the next step and install Olipro v7 2.10 I guess this replaces PIE if im right. Im learning but slowly. Thank you again this is helping me tremendously

Thank you for the great tips. I am starting to feel better. I had heard about these tweaks but did not know how to go about them. I needed to ask. Do I need to activesync my device to upload these programs. Thank you in advance for the help it truly is greatly appreciated and what is bicking your device mean. you can be sure I wont be doing anything till I understan what im doing fully.

those links are all about flashing roms, and i dont think you want to go that route yet. learn how to use your device first, only then you can start looking at upgrading roms.

I will definitly take your advice on that and stay clar of that.
Another great tool to use to learn, is to click the "New Posts" button at the top, and read posts that related to the (8525) Hermes forums, even if you do not understand just what they are discussing, in time you will pick up a lot of a useful info.
This is what i do several times a week in the evenings.
I have a verizon 6700. I have been trying to download everything I need all day. I have tried different peoples programs, and it doesnt seem to be working. Maybe i didnt drop things in the right folder or something. I have no idea right now. If ANYONE can help me, I'll be up all night until I get it right.. Every thing from the home screen to the icontacts, to the sms chat, to the s2p, to the pixsel browser..all of it isnt working right. I guess I need step by step instructions for my phone. I understand its your 2nd post here..but like everyone is told, please read the FAQs and everything before posting a new thread. A new thread only makes searching difficult for everyone else and makes the forum packed
Uhh......majority of the apps are simple ".cab" files, just click on them in the file explorer of your PPC. Really, it's that simple. If you need other help, post in the above mentioned thread, and be more specific, can't help fix a problem we don't understand ourselves!

Here goes, I have an HTC touch pro 2 and my boyfriend has different bookmarks/icons on his touchflo 3d (the line at the bottom with home, contacts, photos/videos, texts, emails etc) and I'd also like to have those on my phone. I tried using the search but nothing came up. I wondered if any of you knows where I can find those different icons/bookmarks?
And a silly other question, if found, could somebody also please explain how to install it?

Just to clear it up, I meant things like that, not neccesarily the one you posted, I also know someone who for example has a Hello Kitty-theme, and Ive seen Fire-themes, but Im just looking for other themes aswell, so I can choose which one I like most.

I have had a windows mobile phone for years, mostly thanks to the support of people on here who have been able to answer virtually every question about tweaks, enhancements etc and therefore stopped me throwing it out of the window. I currently have an HD2 and, again thanks to the people on here, I love it.
The only problem I've had is being able to find the tweaks and CABs without trawling through pages and pages of forum speak.
so, I've created a site call the cabcache.
The idea is to make it easy to find the cabs and tweaks, through a simple search.
it's in its early form as it's going to take me a while to collate all the tweaks and cabs available, but I'm adding more and more every day. If you would like to help me build the site, please get in touch.
I've tried (and will strive to) give credit to everyone who owns the cabs and tweaks. If you see something on the site that isn't giving you the credit you deserve, please get in touch. Similarly, please get in touch if you see one of your offerings that you would like removed.
At the moment, you cannot upload your own cabs (removed due to previous abuse) but this will be re-instated shortly (about a week I think once I've reconfigured the code)

The only difference is that thread is currently 67 pages, making it difficult to search.
I just wanted to make it easier was all.
If you'd make use of some PHP + a database and integrate rate systems/upload features this could be pretty good.. Then it could also display screenshots, be categorized, reviewed, etc..
You could also make it device-specific categorized. Then you can ask the XdaMarketplace developers to integrate it into their app by creating an API and not only offer apps but also tweaks/sense mods for their phones directly.
Hi , even if you don't add loads of features as mentioned above, which would be great, as it it its very useful as a searchable portal to all the adjustments that can be made. I picked up on one already swype, that I hadn't seen listed thanks for that.

Hi,
I've been getting the emails advising me of the error. The issue seems to be that you haven't entered an email address in the registration form. This is needed so that I can ensure the registration is from an actual person. Your email address is encrypted in the db and is quite secure.

ok..
working again now. Had to get hosting company to reset permissions on the site as for some reason they had reverted to read only, meaning the DB couldn't be written to.
great idea, would be great if this thread is notified of updates as and when they are added as i/we will receive a notification
It would be really useful if there was some way to see which phones the cabs are compatible with. Some clearly don't work with the HD2, though they probably to work with other handsets.
