I had a reply from Carrier Devices, The manufacture of the QTEK1010 (XDA).
I sent the following email:
I am interested in obtaining an upgrade for my QTEK1010 PDA. I'm after Windows Mobile 2003. Is this obtainable or is it going to be. According to Microsoft's web site, you the OEM are the people to talk to about this. Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards
Jason Moodie
I recieved the following email:
Dear Jason,
Microsoft Mobile 2003 represents several major feature enhancements to Pocket PC 2002, especially in the connectivity and mobility aspects where the Qtek 1010 is very strong. As Microsoft has just released the new upgrade there will be a short delay for us to finalise the other elements we need to add to the operating system in order to complete our devices. We will be providing an upgrade at an additional cost once our integration is complete and we have checked the compatibility of existing applications with Microsoft Mobile 2003.
Best regards,
John Williamson
I am requesting a ETA on this upgrade. I will keep you informed.

This I guess is the news you've been waiting for, and amongst the Press Release below the following paragraph is definitely worth noting..
"Cingular Wireless, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone today announced free upgrades to the Messaging and Security Feature Pack (MSFP) for all their Windows Mobile 5.0 customers, enabling Direct Push functionality and providing enhanced device management and security for messaging applications. Palm Inc. and i-Mate also reaffirmed their commitment to free MSFP upgrades. In addition, new Windows Mobile-based devices were unveiled today, all of which will ship with Direct Push technology: the HP iPAQ hw6900 Mobile Messenger, the Gigabyte Communications g-Smart, the ASUS P305 3G-enabled smartphone, and the Fujitsu Siemens FS Pocket Loox. In addition, HTC Corp. has unveiled a new product portfolio of Windows Mobile-based devices that are Direct Push-enabled and will be made available globally to T-Mobile and other operators beginning in the second quarter of this year."

what happened to A2DP?
I have around 85 Qtek 1010 (Wallabys) that I want to upgrade to 2003. Currently running 2002.
Checking with my local Microsoft rep they refuse to provide licenses as they don't want to support it.
Does anyone know a legal way I can get upgrades with licenses?
or do you know if will HTC allow upgrades, or do their 2003 licenses for the 2020 or other devices allow you to load on different devices.
Thanks for your help
Hi,
Does anyone already have a solution? This is the only, but big drawback that I have with my Qtek 9000.
Thanks,
J Fonseca

Does that allow you to receive faxes to your device?
It doesn't work
Hi,
I tried that software, but it's only to view fax files, it does not allow to send or receive faxes.
i'll keep looking for a working alternative.
Thanks,

Hi
I found this one on a Yahoo Group:
http://www.samtechnc.com/eng/introduction/mfax_intro.htm
It should work on my Qtek 9000, but i was not able to try, because i don't have enough skills for that.
Maybe someone here can try and post their experiences
Mfax is for PocketPC 2003. I asked them when they may make it available for WM5 and got the following reply;
"Right now we do not know if and when we will be able to support Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Phones with our software.
The problem is that the modem i.e. network manufacturer (Qualcomm with their CDMA network) is not supporting fax class 1 or 2 in their system. Therefore we are not able to support the WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones (or the CDMA based WM 2003 Pocket PC Phones). Furthermore HTC is - due to the lack of support from Qualcomm - not able to support us either.
So we are stuck in the middle. As long as Qualcomm doesn't set a higher
priority to the fax class support within their network (modem) we can do
nothing about this issue.
As soon as they would change this issue we would immediately be able to
support WM 5.0 Pocket PC Phones as well as CDMA phones using their network.
Frankly, I do not think that this issue will be solved soon. Faxing is still
seen as not important by the big companies (which I certainly do not agree, but we do not have a lobby or a direct contact person at Qualcomm, who has the power to change this)."
Maybe we should start lobbying Qualcomm.
We are MFaxCE's developer
We are the developer of MFaxCE. Actually, we have already ported our MFaxCE to WM5.0 successfully, but we found that HTC have changed a lot or haven't open the port for fax on WM5.0 device, we still fail to send/receive fax on WM5.0 right now.
However we are working with some manufacturer who is willing to modify their driver to make our MFaxCE capable of fax on their WM5.0 device. And we are also looking forward that HTC can do some modification or disclose some information to us, so that we can make MFaxCE compatiable with all the HTC WM5 device.
We will keep you posted about any news in the future!

you R in wrong forum - o2 atom exec is not o2 exec aka HTC Universal. I know its not only your fault, o2 made atoms name (atom exec) little bit missleading
Yeah.. the Exec suffix really is kinda misleading. Even while searching in ebay for stuff for XDA Exec.. i usually get Atom Exec stuffs on the list unless I enclose my search parameters on quotes.
kind mods, please move this.
