GPRS Connection - Networking

I have an O2 XDA and I have just had GPRS enabled and it all works fine.
I thought it would be possible to leave inbox running and every 15 minutes it would connect to GPRS, download e-mails and then disconnect but it won't work.
If I connect manually to GPRS then it works but I have to leave the connection open all the time which drains the battery.
Is it possible to do what I want with Inbox or is there another piece of software that will do it instead.
Thanks

GPRS disconnect )-:

Hi,
I'm using xda 2.
when I open the GPRS connection manually, it stay connected until I disconnect it.
When the connection is open automatically (when I use the internet explorer, or using any other application that use a gprs connection) the connection disconnect if I don't use the device for a minute or two.
If I continue to use the device, the connection don't disconnect.
Is there any setting that will prevent the device to disconnect.
I develop application that should synchronize to SQL server, the synchronization takes 15-30 minutes, during this time the user don't use the device...
thanks,
Ofer
Ive got the same problem.
Im using my Qtek 2020 as a Wmodem for my laptop for the moment.
If i connect, i disconnects after a few minutes and there is no speed.
But if i softreset the device and reconnect to the modem, everything works fine for a couple of hours. Then it disconnects, and i have to softreset again to make it work...
Really annoying, and took me quite a WHILE to figure out how to get it to work.
Would be very nice to know that kind of ****ed up bug this is..
Sounds like you need GPRS Tweak (freeware)
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaii/product_gprs_tweak_en.htm
Thanx, i think it works.. Just installed it, and put it on GPRS always ON
GPRS Tweak
I also installed GPRS Tweak but when I perform a soft-reset it don't start GPRS automaticly.
What have I done wrong?

Go to the second settings tab, there u have som settings for GPRS starting.
Although, this program didnt fix my problem. I still have to reboot everytime
i have used GPRS for 2 hours. For some reason, it resets GPRS after a random set of time... Really annoying.

GPRS is connected by itself, why?

I have a weird problem I would like to share with you guys, may be someone knows the cause and can help explaining this to me.
I have set on my XDA to sync to the Exchange Server via the GPRS link manually, for both peak and non-peak timing.
Usually after finish synching, I always disconnect the GPRS connection immediately.
But I noticed that ActivSync always initiates the GPRS connection later by itself 15 minutes after I disconnect the previous session. Formerly I did not know what program actually initiate the GPRS connection, but then I found out that it was the ActivSync that did that, from the time shown, when the last time it was synced to the Exchange server. And, after that "undesired" session, it never disconnect the GPRS session.
So, I always find my XDA connected to the GPRS network, even though I had make sure I disconnect right after I finish synching.
This only happens with my XDA which runs the WM 2003.
My other PPC, Universal, does not have this problem.

how to disconnect GPRS after auto-email check

hey. I check my email with the outlook express feature (the same place where you get text messages, etc.) I have it setup to check my mail every hour, but after it checks for mail it stays connected to the GPRS feed, making me miss calls. is there an option I'm missing or reg tweak that automatically disconnects the GPRS after it connects and "send/receive" email?
Thanks,
Check this bit of freeware out - it sounds like what you're after. I have never had any problems with it.
GB-SOFT GPRS Tweak 02.04.2004
http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=265
i installed the program. i works well, accept it disconnects the GPRS 10 minutes after connecting to streaming audio. is it not working properly, or can the software not recognize streaming audio? everyime i want to listen i have to change the setting from "auto-disconnect if GPRS isn't in use" to "always leave gprs connected." Any suggestions?

Why Blackberry connect automatically disconnect another connection

Hi everybody,
does anybody knows why Blackberry connect automatically disconnect another connection, Internet e.g.
On example, I want to check my pop3 mail, I disconnect blackberry connection,
and connect via INTERNET. During checking mail, automatically Internet disconnect, and Blackberry connect is connecting.
How to solve this??
thx,
You have to "suspend" the connection. BBC will auto re-connect its GPRS connection if you just disconnect it. You can suspend from Start-Settings-System-Blackberry Instant Email applet
thx, it works

Clearly you have the "how" question answered. If you were interested in the "why", it is because Internet access and Blackberry both uses GPRS but on different APNs. In order to access the different APN, the GPRS connection has to drop and reconnect.

GPRS connection doesn't work after being connected for a long time

Hi,
I have a GPRS connection setup for with t-mobile using a proxy.
If I'm not connected it works great- I press send/recieve for my e-mail it connects and gets my messages just fine.
If I do it again 5 minites later also fine.
The problem is after a long time the connection is still active, but when I go to do a Send/Recieve-
I get an "unable to connect to the incoming mail server" message. All my other intenet apps also will not work. If I turn on flight mode and then turn it off (to disconnect from my GPRS connection) and then try the internet again- it will work fine.
I think what triggers this is going into an area with no service. The GPRS connection stays active- and when I try to use it (even when I'm back in an area with service) it won't work.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Daniel
