Upgrade / Backup - MDA, XDA, 1010 Software Upgrading

I just upgraded to 3.15.15. I backed up using SD back, and then restored after doing the upgrade.
Now, all of the feature of the upgrade seem to have gone (STK etc), and I'm left very short on memory. It seems the backup has actually 'overwritten' some of the system files from the new ROM, by putting them in RAM.
Does anyone know the solution for this?

I had the same problem when upgrading. (O2 Germany)
Only way was to reinstall all the programs. Lot of work but everything is now running without problems.

sd restore after sd backup and activesync

Hi there
I successfully backed up my 64mb xda I unlocked it successfully. Only problem is that during the process I ended up having to do a hard reset. Now I'm trying to restore the SD backup and the process keeps ending without finishing.
The sd backup file is 55 megs, and it seems that after a hard reset there is not enough memory available to restore the backup - Is it just me or is this situation not completely daft.
I've also had grief with activesync - it keeps on saying device unrecognised, and makes me "disconnect the port" I've even tried downloading activesync 3.6 in case it fixes the problem.
I havent changed the default "device name" either on the xda.
I'm beginning to wish I hadnt done this... can anyone offer any advice on how to restore such a large backup file, why does it need so much memory to achieve this.
And more imporantly, why do O2/microsoft provide a backup program which wont restore properly!
Help!!!
I've done a few tests, since my last posting - and I can only presume that if you install a lot of software and or registry tweaks (like the low battery fix) then perhaps the whole 64 megs of memory is downloaded.
Using the memory management slider it is impossible to achieve the 55megs I need to restore the backup
On my xda after being "wiped" a backup does work,
as long as it is "not too large" e.g. smaller than about 43 megs
it seems that the SD restore program needs too much operating overhead to restore a large file such as my previous pre-unlock sd backup of 55megs...
Anyone else tried this?
Hopefully I can resynch all the contacts and calendar again, using the cradle and activesync and obviously all the downloaded software can be re-installed.

SD Backup after WM2003 upgrade

hi all;
i'm no techie and i'm curious. i tried upgrading to WM2003 4.00.01 - the installation woked well and i didn't have any problems using it. before i did the upgrade, i backed up all data using SD Backup.
when i used SD Backup to restore the data an error message came up (many apologies, i can't remember what the msg was) although the file explorer showed that the SD was intact. also, the option to update just the contacts were disabled.
now, i'm back to XDA-SERv1.2.
my questions:
1. could i restore everything from SD Backup to WM2003?
2. how do i restore the existing data files and info into WM2003? one option that i can think of is to sync with my PC but that seemed like such an un-elegant solution.
sorry, if this questions were asked before - i couldn't find these in the forum.
many thanks in advance.

Whats the best way to upgrade to WM6?

hi there.
Ive a 2 gig sd card and loads of stuff stored all over the place. if i download Windows Mobile 6, whats the best way to migrate everything? will the unit upgrade link win2k does to XP ?
Mark
No. Rom upgrades wipe the device clean. You will lose all files and programs on the device. Files stored on a memory card will still be there but any programs installed to a card may not function after the upgrade.
yup. And usually you need to perform a hard reset before your upgrade process. So, don't forget to backup all your important stuff.
Also, you might not want to restore your files from a wm5 back-up. I tried it and nothing worked correctly. Had to load each program and tweak from scratch so make note of any serial numbers you may have for your programs.

Unable to start camera not enough storage in available to complete this operation

I started this new thread as the previous one on the same topic did not give any satifactory answers to this problem
I also the Windows mobile 6 upgrade to my HTC 8525. I did a restore of my previous data with sprite software. All went very well until I tried to use the camera.
I got "Unable to start camera. Not enough storage is available to complete this operation."
I have plenty of space in storage. The camera just refuses to work.
Searching the forums, I have only found one thread who has gotten this error message. I followed all the possible permotations to fix this. I tried to do a hard and soft reset and cleared my memory (both storage and program). Uninstalled several programs. I have a 2GB micro SD card with over 500MB of free storage on the phone. The camera still refuses to work.
What should I do next?
try removing the sd card then soft reset the device and when it has completed restarting windows insert the sd card and it should ask if you want to store images on there instead of main storage.
same deal
I did try that. It did not prompt me for anything after I reinserted my SD card. Any other suggestions.
Thanks

ive had this same problem for a while now and have resorted to using coolcamera.. my guess is that it has something to do with the backup. the problem on my end dosent come up until i restore a backup from spbbackup... so note what programs you have, hard reset, and start fresh...
the camera will be working.
This is because not enough ram is available, simply close any apps running in the backround and try again.hopefully u can end programs with X-Button. some of the "cooked" roms have way too many services running at boot and it almost impossible to make enough ram available.
fixed problem
Ifigured out this was a problem with the sprite backup software. For some reason when you back up some older programs with sprite and then do a system restore after having changed from WM5 to WM6, you loose the camera function. I fixed the problem by reseting my device to original manufacturers settings and then reinstalling the programs one by one without using sprite backup software. It was very time consuming ad I had to retrieve my saved data files and contacts before resetting the device. But my camera works fine now!
it happened to me some days ago aftyer restoring backup
a clean solution:
look for the camera oem package of pandora, look for the recistry settings in the .rgu file, translate it to a regedit4 compatible .reg file, execute it, and problem solved. it is a problem registry related. hope this helps

NAND problems?

Browsing through my files, I bumped into something unexpected in my Device directory (see picture). Is this a NAND problem? How can I get rid of it?
It looks more like corrupt entries on the memory card. The reason I say this is I have had a few memory cards corrupt on me for whatever reason.
The way I have fixed that in the past has been to backup the device over ActiveSync (MS) and then hard reset the device after COPYING the data off the card onto the PC using a memory card reader / adapter.
The reason for copying and not moving is that with moving it changes the contents of the disk, which invariably made it harder to get the file off that I wanted.
Once the files were off and the device was clean I would reformat the memory card, pop it back in the phone, then having set it up and changed all the names to match what the old device was would plug it into the laptop and restore the data, and, er, reinstall from scratch.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on. This is assuming its a corrupt disk/memory issue in that way. Otherwise, just ignore me
PS. My hermes has a problem with Nand as well I think
I would agree if it were corruption files on memory card (same bad experience as well). However, corruption files are on Storage!
Have you recently upgraded to WM6 either OEM or modified?!
A week ago I upgrade to Shamanix Ultimate 2.0 ROM (see my signature). Before that, I had been on Schaps 4.30 and Custel WM6 ROM.
Somebody told me half a year ago that BigStorage may be dangerous - bringing up nand threat. I am trying to confirm this

So this could then be relational to the upgrade? Have you tried downgrading to the previous versions to resolve this?!

No, I see no sense in it. So far so good. If it should affect performance in any way, then I probably would.
For starters, I'll try to HR, and restore backup, then will see
