Hello, I also have the same need, as the default screen mode on aosp ROMs is over saturated for me. Has the situation changed since OP ?

[Q] Is there a way to manipulate the white ballance of the Note 3's display?

I bought a new Note 3 a week ago, it`s the black version, made in Vietnam, selling in Europe.
I`ve compared it to 3 other Note 3 devices and the colors on mine are way off.
The display is evenly lit, but it has a somewhat greenish/blueish, sometimes yellowish tint on the whites and the resulting picture is unbearable for me.
Any possible way to gain more control over the display`s calibration, so I can try to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
That depends on the rom and kernel you are using.
On Samsung Stock you may try Settings -> Device -> Display -> Screen Mode and test the options.
On the DU AOSP rom you may change color temperature in Settings -> Device Specific -> Screen -> Color Temperature.
Some Rom / Kernels will allow you to fine tune the basic colors.
Unfortunately, the stock rom doesn't provide control over white ballance.
Changing the color temp doesn't seem to fix the problem either - i tried it with the app "Lux".
I guess fine tunning a particular color is the way to go, but so far i do not know how to do it.
Could you please name a suitable ROM/Kernel, that could offer this option?
Thanks

You can tweak the basic colors on Samung phones changing MDNIE parms.
Use Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro
Fauxclock will only show the MDNIE Controls menu when rom/kernel supports it. Try it on your rom first.
It works on [Rom][4.4.4][Team D.I.R.T] Dirty Unicorns. Should work on most AOSP roms.
Finally, i decided to Root my device and paid for Faux123 Kernel Enhancement Pro .
Unfortunately, there are no MDNIE/Gamma /Color controls present in the menu.
Could it be the ROM/Kernel?
Mine are:
Kernel - 3.4.0 - 1937874
ROM (stock) - JSS 15.JN9005XXUDMJ6
I don`t want to install custom ROMs, because i wnat to keep the Knox counter at 0x0 and keep my warranty.
Please, help.
Thanks!
You can't calibrate the colours with stock kernel/Faux Clock unfortunately. Custom kernel or tripped Knox

So I won't be able to try to fix the issue without breaking warranty.. Unfortunately this doesn't work for me.
Next step - samsung service, although i think they will laugh at me about this kind of issue.
Thanks all for the support!
Ok, there`s no way I will get a replacement from my carrier, in my country they`ll do everything possible to reject warranty service.
Could you please suggest a custom kernel that supports MDNIE control?
Thanks.

My themes are working but i have one problem

Good day guys,
I am a noob.. sorry if i could not explain my problem well.
I have Note 4 (N910C)
I rooted my phone.. and followed these steps to get Galaxy S6 themes, check the link below
http://getgoogles.blogspot.in/2015/03/how-to-install-galaxy-s6-themes-on.html?m=1
Everything worked perfectly.. however, after applying the theme, when i go to ( settings, call log, and messages) they are still touchwiz shape.. they did not change to the theme shape..
In galaxy s6, when i apply the iron man theme for example, every tiny part of the phone changes to the theme shape including the call log and settings and messages.. but in my Note 4, these did not change.. they stayed on their touchwiz shape
Is there anything i can do to fix this??
Thank you so much
I have a similar problem. My phone just updated to the Marshmallow version, which introduced the new Marshmallow default theme, but left some of the previous 'Pisces' theme icons unchanged! I then installed a new theme, which did NOT change the icons (which were still part Marshmallow default, part 'Pisces'), and, on top of it, resulted in a big black space down one side of the screen (as if that theme was not correctly sized). Restarting the phone or deleting any/all themes did not help. I'm livid as the display is now a complete mess. Can anyone help with this please?

Blue Light Filter on A(6) Series Nougat Stock

Hey, Guys
I accidentally stumbled upon Blue light filter feature hidden on my A5 2016 Nougat Stock ROM.
Here is how to access it.
Install Nova Launcher (I used only this)
Add Widget , Choose Nova.. Then Choose "Activities". Scroll Down to find "Settings". Under Settings, you can find Blue Light filter. Select it.
It can now be accessed through the Nova widget.
Blue light filter didn't work for me. Guys, you try and let me know. I think all the A (6) series Nougat ROM have this hidden feature.
Screenshot Attached
I already notice this since MM, read my post
https://forum.xda-developers.com/samsung-a-series/general/launch-activity-setting-t3621078
But not found a way to upload screenshoot.

If you mean "enable", No. It doesn't enable it on the notification panel.
The method would just dig it up and unhide the feature. It gives you the access to the feature which is not available in a normal setting.
Just try it and let me know if the blue light is really getting filtered out or it is just lying there like a dummy setting.
I tried to change the Opacity. I saw no colour change on the screen.
I just posted this to know how it functions for other XDA members on their A(6) series phones.
Someone at XDA would come up with an idea or workaround to make it work and probably also put it on Notification Panel.
Just waiting!

Ok thank you for your reply. I think is a problem from the kernel because on custom Rom port from gs7 or gs8 aod and blue light filter are not working so the I think they have try to hide those feature but you can still see those because it's a port of the system ui

You are most welcome, McFy.
Yes, it has to do with the kernel. But it is not a problem. Samsung has deliberately left out the feature at Kernel level. If someone comes up with a custom kernel that supports this feature, yes, it might work.
Maybe on Framework too. When I tried to switch the display mode from Basic to Adaptive, it prompted me to disable Blue Light Filter to proceed with the mode change.
So I assume it didn't work for you too.
We can surely live without this feature. Still, it would have been pleasant to our eyes during nights (better sleep) and also our blue OLED pixels could have had the chance to live little longer. LOL

Lol, yes they are not feature I need but I reach how to enable the multwindow one my phone because I have nougqt and Samsung have disable it but on the dev option some setting for multwindow mode are present but change nothing I don't know how to enable it
I already added it in my ROM.
One thing I can surely tell you is that you won't be able to get this feature without editing framework and custom kernel.

Yes, I thought it had something to do with Kernel as well as Framework. Thank you for the information.
As I researched through, it looks like your ROM Advanced Seven for A710XX has been ported to A510XX by that kid, @DasNuddel. It looks like you have done an awesome work. And DasNuddel also has done his work very well in bringing the ROM to A510 devices.
Thanks, man!!

I tried Lux and CF Lumen in the past but I settled for Twilight for its simple interface. I have been using Twilight for years. I thought a native feature would be better. That's all. We didn't miss it on Marshmallow, definitely that's something we can live without.
I just wanted to get some insight on that hidden dummy feature.
I will give CF Lumen another try. It's been years. I expect some improvements. Thanks for your suggestion.

Twilight does not has root mode which means that the it applies a Filter which lights up the black areas of screen also, but cf lumen in root mode changes the colour of the screen so, black areas remain black. That's why I prefer it. You're welcome!

I tried CF Lumen as you suggested. Wow! Yes, I noticed the difference. Twilight just washes the screen with colours.
Previously, I tried CF Lumen on an LCD screen phone. That's why I didn't see the difference. CF Lumen is a right choice for an AMOLED device with root privilege. Now I know what I had been missing all these years. Psst!
I compared CF Lumen and Twilight, approximately same settings(I think). There was a stunning difference!! CF Lumen any night!!!
For reference, I have attached the comparison screenshots of my home screen. Forget the whites, just look at the blacks. I hope it helps others.
Thanks again, Updesh!
I have used Blue ligth filter in my roms with snapdragon (Here you only need to edit services.jar and BLF and AOD works)
But I with a friend created a mod BLF with more options than the BLF of N7 samsung and do not need to edit services.jar / framework.res or kernel.
It is a mod with more options:
Code:
Sepia
Black
Brown
Red
This made it work in grace ux 6.0.1 I just have to update the smalis to nougat and maybe manage to make it work on my rom Nougat A5 2016

Odd Wallpaper Color Tint Issue

I Just got a ZTE ZMax Pro (Z981) today from MetroPCS overall the phone is great but im having a weird issue when setting my wallpaper, when viewing images in the gallery or previewing to set the wallpaper everything looks fine but when the image is a wallpaper i notice a slight change in the color like a slight green tint.
preview images below edit: cant post images... any idea what could be causing this ? Using Stock with Nova Launcher, Color Correction is off.
This is a minor problem and isnt a deal breaker to me but if its fixable it be nice.
Any help or input would be appreciated, thank you.

Have you played with your screen anamation in developer options it will change visuals as well as if you have a adaptive brightness set u may just b seeing rough version or a installed app affecting you , I use Nova without issue on the z981 ,it preforms sexy like a unlimited data mod lol , and it may make a diff if you are using free version or paid lite may have bugs I'd try my custom launcher c if it has a better effect or check , check all you nova visuals you may have simply made a mistake in display preference good luck
Thanks for the input, i had animation scale to off, and reverting it back to 1x and restarting did not fix the issue, also playing with the nova animations and tinkering with settings didnt fix it, im using nova prime, tried with the stock launcher also gives me the darker wallpaper, im not sure what it is, because when im looking at the image to set it the colors are fine, its not until its a wallpaper that its darker, like i said it isnt horrible after awhile i dont even notice but its just odd..
what is this custom launcher you speak of?
and yes this phone is pretty amazing, i was little bummed at first because the blade was out of stock where i went but upon further review im happy i got this, could care less about the camera.. on another note can we be expecting android 7.0 in the future ?

Enable Live Display in Oreo ROMS

Guys you might have noticed that Live Display feature is not working under display settings.
Live Display helps you automatically switch screen color for day and night, which is normal for daytime and less blueish for night time. Also you can manually change screen color (RGB) with the help of live display feature.
Unfortunately, this feature is available in all OREO ROMS but its not working in some roms.
You must be happy to know that, I have prepared a fix for this. You need to flash this fix and you will see that this feature will start working.
Go to settings>display>LiveDisplay to see that this feature is working now.
