Check your APN settings. Also, try a SIMswap. Old sims do not like new phones, and mobile data is the first to go.

APN is done by Vodafone automatically, checked it manually too. It's proper. Of course I cut my SIM. Big sized SIM can't even fit this device.

Ahhh, there we go. Try a different SIM. Either it's too old (anything before January 2013 is too old), or you're one of the 50% where cutting the SIM causes problems.
(Yes, I know it doesn't fit. 30% of my day revolves around people with faulty sim cards.)

tried update modem?
basic problem lies on the APN setting. but if you said you have checked it and all ok, try to update your modem into your device latest modem.
I use a big simcard cut into smaller one, and no problem. I have old simcard since 2011 as well.

Like I said in the OP. I already upgrade my whole firmware. Modem is updated too but problem is still same.
Put your SIM card into another phone and test.
You may have to check with your mobile operator for data-service registration.

u can try what vndnguyen said.
But, just to comment... actually, when you upgrade firmware, normally it won't flash any modem/csc. You will need to do it manually.
This is what I know when I experienced on any official firmware upgrade on my device.

yep. that's the modem.
pull it out from the zip. and flash it from ODIN under CP.
when you go to download mode, make sure you switch your phone completely OFF first. then go into download mode by 3 combo buttons.
if 1st try fail, no need to worry. repeat the same steps, and you are good to go.
Sometimes I need 3 times to succeed. Don't know why also. Sometimes 2 times, and sometimes 1 time also no problem.
I (as with others) are having the exact same issue and is actually something that has been brought to Google's Attention: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=63524 Note that the Android Issue tracker refers specifically to The Nexus 5 but other users in the page are also having the issue on other devices, like you and I.
I have tried multiple different possibilities to fix it but still no solution.
My bad guys. My internet package was out. (I didn't pay -.-) Paid now it's working.

Hi all! I'm experiencing a serious problem with my I5800. Suddenly I'm unable to connect to my carrier network, no signal at all. I was using Kyrillios till now, but it is still not working after i flashed a stock JPF. I tried everything, different versions of stock and Kyrillios, clearing data and cache, using another SIM from other carriers. No matter what I do my phone is unable to connect to the phone network. Searching in the forums i found others facing this problem after using Kyrillios for some time... but no solution worked. So basically now I have a "dead" phone... Any help? Someone with the same problem?
Try to choose a different network operator. Go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> Mobile networks -> Choose network operator. Try all options and see if any of em work.
I can see all my country networks, but when i choose mine the popup says registered and after some mins a red sign appear in the bar "No service (my carrier name)". I tried other carriers but I can't use others with my sim. Also i tried other sims as i said of other carriers and they all ahve the same problem. In other phone they all works normal.
I'm wondering if the Kyrillios ROM can damage the antenna or something like that. It could be a serious issue caused by it.
Nah I don't think it does. Not physically at least.
Try flashing an eclair rom, preferably the one which you had originally. Maybe that'll help. Or some ROM, just so you can be sure it works at least with some ROM. Then we can start thinking of new solutions
I tried many eclair and froyo now. It don't connect to the network. No ROM works.

Since I don't have the required privileges to post in the development section I'm gonna try here.
I'm currently using the Aurora Rom and it's working excellent with the exception of two things:
I'm using a domestic roaming SIM (I think that's what it's called, my provider borrows network capacity from another provider) and the phone is acting a bit odd.
1. There's no icon to indicate what sort of data connection is currently active (edge, 3g, hspda etc.),
2. The phone randomly either A: Says I can only use emergency call and it indicates there's no signal, or B: Says there's no SIM-card present. Both of these can be resolved with rebooting the phone. They seem to appear at completely random intervals, but at least several times a day.
Neither of these issues are present if I use my work SIM which is the same provider as the network, I have a data connectivity icon and there's no fuzz with the SIM-card.
Both of these issues has been present at all versions of Aurora that I have tested.
If it is to any help I'm using a provider called OneCall in Norway.
hey mate, try upgrading to the latest version doing all the wipes, and if there is no data connection , see if mobile data is enabled?
Maybe check to ensure your IMEI hasn't been wiped.

The problem has been recurring with all versions of Aurora, and I've tried full wipes several times. I didn't say I had no data connection, the connection is just fine. As I mentioned, the problems are just present with one of my SIM cards.
The problems with SIM dropout might have something to do with the data connection, but I still get the problem when I'm at home connected to my WiFi. I'm gonna try to disable mobile data and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks!
Tried the command, still no icon for connectivity type though. Not sure about the SIM problem. Do you mind me asking what the command does?
As for the random SIM dropouts: I haven't actually had any since yesterday, not sure if it is just pure luck or it has something to do with the new 2.0.8 version that I installed yesterday (going from 2.0.7) after making this thread. I've had the problems in all the Aurora versions I've tested earlier. I'll report back if the problems reoccur.
If they don't I guess either the command or the new version fixed it.

Oh ok
Well I haven't had any SIM dropouts yet, but not sure if it's the fix or the new rom.
Anyway the problem has resolved itself in an unconventional way; I just got offered a better subscription with another provider
Thanks for the help!
Usually the budget carriers provide with SIM that are thinner than usual (not much visible)... at least, it happened to me before.
This may be the cause for the error, showing "no sim card inserted" as it will move inside your phone and cause that error.
The network error, can be related with the type of network you choose.
Maybe you choose CDMA only and you're out of 3G on that area sometimes...
You can check it on the settings and mobile networks.
Hi Guys,
Recently upgraded from a SGS2 to a SGS3, i ran Paranoid android on my SGS2 for a few months and liked it so as soon as i got my SGS3 i rooted and flashed Paranoid, its been great, but ive just realised ive got an issue, ive not used by Data connection up until now (its been connected by wifi)
Basically my data connection is pants, it flicks between 3G and E but in reality the speeds arent even E worthy
O2 UK
Paranoid Android
Baseband is 19300BWDLI1
RIL was 19300XXDLIB
ive downloaded Getril and tried a few others but none of them seem to help, Any ideas i can try? or any RIL's that people can think of
Why do you assume the RIL is at fault here? Have you diagnosed that to be the actual problem or is it a wild stab in the dark?
Are you able to make calls OK? If so then your RIL is most likely fine. More likely you have flashed the wrong modem that doesn't support all O2s frequencies.
Have you checked you have the right APN setup for O2 UK?
Worst case, go back to stock and test that, to see if it really is something to do with the ROM you're using. I doubt that it is though

You probably want to talk to O2 then. Either they're having problems or the phone has faulty hardware.
- muppet.
My brother had this problem with a galaxy s1. And Other devices. It turned out that it was o2's lack of providing decent Internet signal on there masts. Voice and text was bang on but Internet said e on the network but was actually slower then dial up!
They are terrible when it comes to coverage on 3g.

If you phone is able to make/receive calls fine - then there's nothing wrong with the handset.
Have you checked the APN is set correctly for data?
Assuming that you have checked this and it's correct, then there's probably very little you can do. Can you try your SIM in another phone and see if the data's any better?
The problem sounds like nothing to do with the phone and everything to do with your provider, O2.
+1
I'm running stock O2 UK 4.1.2
Data for me has always been painfully slow, and i mean embarrassingly bad, un-usable unless I'm stood somewhere with a great 3g signal, even then it's hardly bearable. I'm convinced it's the network and not the phone. My icon has always messed about switching from g to e to 3g to h to h+. I think I'm just in a bad area and the phone constantly switches bands trying to find the best one. It just makes mobile internet a joke most of the time.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Thought i would just update this thread now
O2 phoned me last night insisting that it was a problem with the "Settings" and i hadn't turned on 3G etc.. anyway an hour call going through every setting possible and they have given up.
Used a Sim card adapter and put my sim card back into my SGS2 and internet is perfect again... so O2 are sending me out a new SGS3 tomorrow to test that. hopefully it will work and then i can get rid of the Standard O2 Firmware because its awful

Sounds like the IMEI of your phone got corrupt.
Boot it up and type *#06# into the dialer. That'll show your IMEI number. Is it the same as the one on the sticker under the phone's battery?
NOTE: Don't tell us your IMEI! Just if they match. If they _don't_ match, post the one shown by *#06# - not the one under the sticker

rooting will not kill your network connection. that's something that you did. you need to provide a LOT more information in order to have people help you out,
what ROM are you on, what settings did you change, what mobile carrier are you on, etc. etc. this is a simple fix, but we need to know what caused it first. :good:

Data enabled, but no internet connection
Hello,
I have the stock rooted i337 (AT&T), running on another provider network. I am aware that i337 is very difficult to do modifications due to the built-in by AT&T vicious locks to prevent using it with other network providers. This is the reason I did not flash ROM, because I am afraid to get my phone bricked and lose it entirely. Recently I subscribed to a data plan from a third party provider and I have 4G in the status line and HSPA in the data type, but I still did not have internet connection when WiFi was disabled, except that my Hotmail somehow worked. No other apps requiring internet worked. I spent a week researching the issue myself as well as working with the provider's tech support, but nothing worked. Two days ago, almost out of despair, I installed a new app called Opera Max, which is developed to route the unencrypted data to their Virtual Private Network in order to compress it and save the data use. As soon as I connected to VPN, all applications started working. I still have to turn Opera Max off when I use WiFi, because it disconnects my WiFi every few minutes, claiming that WiFi signal is too low. (My signal is very strong and no other devices have any issues with WiFi). However, this is a minor problem, considering that Opera Max saved my data plan.
It is still a mystery to me why Hotmail worked, but no other apps and why using Opera Max VPN solved the problem. If anybody has ideas, I will be happy to hear.
I must say that all data settings, including APN are checked, rechecked and correct, so this was not the issue.
Thanks,
Dan
I am also having connection issues after rooting my S4 i9505:
I am on a Telcel (Mexico) which is supposed to support 4G connections... However, ever since I rooted I can only access 2G/GSM networks. I have the official APN network configuration and I have tried two roms but still no luck...
Any advice would be most welcome.
Hello guys,
I've a problem with my phone. I have no mobile connection, but it isn't Modem related (I think).
It all happened when i went back to 4.3 TW (XXUEML6), I've always used broodplanks aosp rom.
First i thought it was a modem issue so i checked my modem but it was ML6
Tried to fix it with some reboots, wiping cache, factory reset, full reset and reflashing of both TW and AOSP.
I later flashed my previous modem, the problem still presists.
Now to get to the weird part: I've no mobile connection (No service) BUT can use my Mobile Internet and Wi-Fi.
Can't recieve/make calls, neither sms. But mobile internet works perfectly
I'm beyond desperation,
Can you please help me?

Blowed out sim tray and wiped sim.. Hope it's related to the sim and not the phone
If it was a sim problem, I wouldn't be able to give in my pin at boot, and wouldn't have any acces to Mobile Internet (not talking about Wi-Fi)...
Well it' almost 3AM here so have no-one i can ask for his/her sim. If you got any other suggestions I'm happy to try.
Reset APN else change your sim..
Send my signature phone to XDA with bad grammar
It can be your sim.I used a cut down one (iphone5) and put it in an adapter to make it a microsim.I had mobile data, but couldnt call or send texts.Used to happen daily, but sometimes phone displayed triangle=no sim inserted.Other times nothing was displayed (meaning I was fooled into thinking there was no problems).
Only once, for about 2 seconds have I had any problems with sim since I changed it for a proper micro one a week ago.
I thought it could be the sim holder also, as a few people have had problems with them.

Well strangly the phone has came to its senses overnight without doing anything. Now it's a game of waiting...
Because it happened a couple of times in the previous 2-3 days
A little "update": I've tried my sim in another phone, it worked.. Another sim in my phone also worked.
EDIT: I flashed stock XXUEML6 firmware and took care that I got "Official" (yes i've tripped knox a long time ago).
So far so good. So i guess latest official FW fixed the problem
