Audio capture problem

Hi
We are developing a push-to-talk app -- Loudtalks. The free version is quite popular and many people on this forum use it.
We spent the last two days trying to fix or isolate a problem reported by a user with Hermes 200 -- all outgoing messages come silent and show up with 0:00 duration in History, even though the connection is good and everything else (including incoming messages work perfectly).
Still no luck. The last thing we found is that our code receives just 2 audio buffers from the sound card in 3 seconds, while normally that should be more like 30...
The same code (standard wave api stuff) works fine on many other devices. Is there any Hermes/HTC-specific secrets or hacks?
Or could you try it and report back if it works and which ROM/radio are you on? We don't have the device to test with so kind of walking in the dark... but very much want to have mystery fixed.
Here is today's build:
http://loudtalks.com/data/LoudtalksMobileSetup.cab
More details:
- We are using 8000 Hz, 16 bits per sample, mono sound format
- waveInStart fails returning 0x00000001 ( #define MMSYSERR_ERROR (MMSYSERR_BASE + 1) /* unspecified error */ HUH?)
Thanks!

How do I troubleshoot my NFC function?

Hello,
I recently purchased a few NFC 215 tags/stickers to give them some use, but the apps show no response whatsoever to the tags (they ask to scan a tag, and don't ever react anyway whatsoever). I've tried "NFC Tools", "NFC TagInfo by NXP", "Tagmo", and a bunch of other random NFC apps.
Is there a way to troubleshoot whether the issue is on the tags or on my phone? I have no other devices with NFC capability.
What I gathered on the lenovo support forums (just figured I can't post links since I don't post much...):
- I am scanning them at the right position according to "Moto G6 Plus: Location of NFC chip/sensor?"
- The NFC on the phone SHOULD be working according to "Broken NFC Reader - Again !!", since apparently I wouldn't be able to toggle it on or off if it wasn't...?
Thanks for your time!

Microphone low-pass filter in some ROMs

Hi,
Background:
My current daily driver is LineageOS 18.1 by Ivan. I've got a smart thermometer that uses a 17 KHz sound carrier to send the measurement data to the companion app.
However the app was not able to read (or even detect the presence of) the thermometer. Mic permission was enabled for the app, naturally.
So I checked with a spectrum analyzer app (Spectroid) and an external tone sweep, and there seems to be a low-pass filter on the mic input (both internal and headset).
The cutoff starts around 4 KHz and nothing gets through above 8 KHz.
Then I tried other ROMs. PixelExperience [AOSP 12] behaves the same way, but on FloydQ V6.0 [10, non AOSP] the spectrogram is flat and the companion app works.
My questions:
Is this a known issue / feature? Is this an AOSP vs Samsung based ROM thing?
If this is because of the missing proprietary blobs, is it directly caused by that or just a side effect of a (anti echo) workaround?
Can it be disabled? Even if the voice quality becomes unusable.
Thanks.
