How to update from Android 8? - OnePlus 5T Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi, I've just received a second hand OnePlus 5T. I used the unbrick tool, which left the phone on OxygenOS 5.1.3 (Android 8.1.0). But if I try to update from the menu it says the system is up to date and with local update it fails.
I unlocked and rooted the phone now and I can't update it neither. Anyone knows what to do to install the latest OxygenOS version and/or custom roms based on Android 10/11?

Install Oxygen Updater from the Play Store and it'll show you the latest OxygenOS version you can update to without data loss. Once you're done installing that, re-open the app and then it'll show you the even newer version of OxygenOS that you can install over your existing installation.

Current OS level of Asus ZenPad 8.0 Z380M?

I'm looking at getting one of these but wondering what version it is up to now? Sites where they sell it only ever show the version that it was initially released on. Is it still getting updates? What about security patch level? Just asking because I am having a hard time finding a local store that has it on the shelf to give it a few minutes of hands on.
Thanks.
The Z380M is upgradeable to Android 7.0. The latest security patch level is January, 2018. You can check the Asus support site downloads for info on the latest FW. They've been pretty timely with security updates. But they don't fix bugs with the OS itself, like battery calibration and log spamming And I doubt there will be any more major updates to this tablet.
Now FOTA (system update) offers update 308MB size, I tried to flash but when android reboots it reboots in TWRP (my P00A rooted and have TWRP) and nothing happening, tried rename update file to zip and flash via TWRP but not flashing, TWRP error 12
@PxYra, the incremental update needs a clean, unmodified firmware. It won't install to rooted devices or any other FW configuration where TWRP is forced to stay in place. Please download the full FW package from Asus' support site, install then reroot, etc.

Unable to update from Q DP3 to OOS10 OB1

I'm trying to update from Android Q Developer Preview 3 to OxygenOS 10 Open Beta 1 with no success and I run out from ideas.
I've downloaded full update package from Oxygen Updater app to perform a 'Local Update' but right after starting the installation process it says 'installation failed'.
Then I thought I could sideload it, but in recovery mode I don't have any option like 'Install update from USB' so ADB says 'sideload connection: closed'. I'm unable to find stock recovery image to work with this firmware.
My phone's bootloader is locked, no root, no custom software installed.
Can anyone point some good solution for this problem?

MSM Back to Stable OOS, update to latest OOS 9.0.17 and then Local Update to Q Beta. That's what I did. From 7T Port, MSM to 9.0.16 and took the OTA for 9.0.17 and after that Successfully updated to Q Beta via Local Update

I am at oxygenOs 9.0.11 in 2019, not getting update. Can't update locally

I am at android 9 and oxygenOs 9.0.11 still in Dec 2019 with a security patch of Dec 2018. I don't know why i am not getting update from oneplus. Whenever i check for updates, i get the message that phone is up to date. Then i downloaded oxygen updater and downloaded the oxygenOs 10 with android 10 from there, when i navigate to local upgrade and click on the file to install, it gives me an error "sytem installation failed. This version has no change logs". Please help me anyone . Attaching screenshots.
Something is failing, use msmdownloadtool and reinstall the system from the scratch.
If i update step by step will it do the job?
If I don't update directly to oxygenOs 10 but first update to 9.0.7 then do the update, will it work?
Listen, the same thing has happened to me. You need to update to the latest ANDROID PIE OOS release, then update to ANDROID 10. You could find the zip files for OOS PIE in this XDA.
Just done it right before your reply
I first manually installed the oxygenOs 9.0.15 then checked for update. Worked like a charm. Thanks BTW
9.0.11 doesn't receive any OTA updates at this time. You need to update first to 9.0.17 using local update and then you can update to Android 10.

android 11 on 8Pro AA IN2025

Hey guys, I can't seem to upgrade from 10.5.13.11AA
Everytime I select a local upgrade, it says system update installation failed. Using Oxygen Updater reboots the phone into OnePlus Recovery and fails as well.
Oneplus is not claiming an update is available but I've downloaded the update from Oxygen Updater as well as from the OnePlus forums and confirmed them to be the same GLO file.

Are you rooted? Do you have any magisk modules installed?
I have a guide for upgrading the EU version of the 8 pro but the theory should be fine for you albeit with your own firmware.
If youre not rooted then I'd suggest it's a bad download.
Remove it and redownload
I'm rooted and have NoLimits module disabled.
I also have kirisakura as a kernel.
The files have been redownloaded a number of ways, don't appear corrupted.
Strangely, the Changelog for the update is always blank
So as for the guide, I can't do the "settings/system/updates" part because when you select the firmware from Local Storage, it says it failed.

Stuck on OxygenOS 9.0.11

Heyo, I am stuck on OxygenOS 9.0.11, it tells me I got no updates and I got no idea how to upgrade. Can I upgrade to OxygenOS 11 with MSMDownloadTool somehow? (I am fine with restoring the device)
Never Mind, I figured it out. If others get this issue, here's how I fixed it.
I downloaded Oxygen Updater from the Play Store. It downloaded the zip file for OxygenOS 9.0.17 which you installed by going to Settings > System > System Updates > tap on the top right and select Local Update, selecting the zip file it installed, and then OnePlus will install the update. Once you do this and you restart the phone, go back to System Updates and it should find an update for Oxygen 11.1.2.2. Download and Install the update and you should be good to go!
