Google Pixel 4 vs Google Pixel 5 - Google Pixel 4 Questions & Answers

Have any of you gone from the GP4 to the GP5? If so, do you like it better? I miss the finger print unlock on my GP2XL

I have moved from 4 to 5. A couple of days later I have go back to 4. Because of gaming and camera. 4 have a lot better overall performance especially for gaming and in camera zooming.

I'm pretty sure the Tapatalk app is compressing these. They look much better in the photos app.

I have the iPhone 6+ and Note 4 around; I've used the Nexus 6 camera for an hour (indoors only). From what I used it is slower and not as well balanced than the iPhone 6+ camera. Note 4 was just as fast as the Nexus 6, maybe a bit faster.
Both the iPhone 6+ and Note 4 have far, far better software for the camera app and thus they both take far better photos (for a smartphone) compared to the Nexus 6. In low-light the Nexus 6 performs like a Galaxy Nexus (which I've used often) compared with the iPhone 6+ and Note 4. There are many tests which show how bad the Nexus 6 is in low light, especially without flash.
From my limited experience it was ok but noticeable worse than the iPhone 6+ and Note 4. If you were testing all three together in a store, you would see the difference.
Potentially if someone creates a new camera app with far better software in the app - puts it for sale on the PlayStore (so you don't need a rooted phone to use it) - the Nexus 6 camera could be much better. As it is the stock camera app post-processing software is terrible compared to other flagships. The current cameras on the PlayStore (that I've used) do not get the best out of the N6 camera either.
From what I know the camera hardware in the N6 is comparable to the Note 4 so theoretically it can match the photo quality of the Note 4 in all conditions. The software though is not comparable.

Great thanks for the confirmation on the sensors; then the Nexus 6 will never compete with the Note 4 or iPhone 6+ on the camera front, it will always be a step behind. When they said 'premium, no compromises' I think they were joking. I honestly expected it to at least match the Note 4 with camera tech for the price. Worse screen I expected, but not the camera tech.
The Nexus 6 is essentially a Note 3 with a faster processor (but you probably wouldn't notice due to the encryption) and stock Android. Ideally should be priced like a Note 3 then...

I had note 4 for a week and it lag like hell everything seems slow motion compare to nexus 6 thats the reason I sold note 4 on the front facing camera it could compete with iPhone 6 plus but not with note 4 cause it has 3.7mp wide angle lens.

Questions coming from a Note 5

Coming from a 1-year old Note 5, considering swapping to this phone, I have some questions:
1) Can I expect better battery life (I only get like 4 hours SOT max on the Note 5) and better low light photos (with HDR+)?
2) On the topic of low light, is there any article comparing the 6p and the S7/Edge in low light that the 6p has HDR+ turned on? Every article I found had the option turn off for the 6p which might be not fair.
3) Continue the topic, is HDR+ that godly?
4) 6p users that have been using the phone for more than 3 months, is there any major drawback that you're disappointed with / regret buying the phone for? Thanks in advance!
Only thing you'd be disappointed about is, SD 810. It gets so hot very easily as compared to one of the best thermal performance on the Note 5. Camera would be a tie, because the Nexus 6P at daylight tends to shoot at a lower exposure. Low light is top notch.
With Android N, the phone just flies!
Only disappointing feature of 6P is 810. If it had something better, it'd still be one of the bests out there.

I bought a mi 6, my coworker a one plus 5..my impressions

In hand feel : one plus bigger and lighter. Mi 6 heavy and compact
Screen: mi 6 way sharper.. Not pentile is why. Similar colour accuracy and. Brightness
Audio.. Mi 6 and one plus 5 pleasant sound and loudness but Mi6 better cos it has stereo
Finger sensor.. One plus faster than Mi6
Speed and app launch... Same! Snappiness in hand was a draw... Surprise.
Screen responsiveness.. Very similar... One plus a bit ahead by slight amount (unnoticeable)
Scrolling smoothness... Mi 6 better! One plus 5 had jello effect and the amoled not as smooth as lcd when scroll fast
Battery life.. Awaiting Gsam stat collection
Camera... One plus 5 sharpness and exposure kicks Mi6 butt. Jealous of one plus cam tuning.
Overall tho... One plus 5 envy gone! Be happy cos the mi 6 is great.
I switched from OnePlus5 to Mi6 and overall I must admit that the Mi6 was a better choice along the way.
Camera is superb. (the OP5 gets a little smudgy, patternlike when you zoom in on the Images) Screen is even better than on the OP5 (no jello effect which gave me a headache.)
Overall great choice.

I think the lack of OIS was a terrible choice by oneplus. EIS at low light and night conditions is terrible. Videos are shaky and lose details.

2x optical Zoom vs 2x digital Zoom on Pixel 3

Hey, does anyone have both the Pixel 3 or 3XL (non "a") AND the new Pixel 4? I would love to see a photo comparison with 2x digital Zoom on the Pixel 3 vs 2x optical Zoom on the Pixel 4.
This guy gave a pretty good, honest review on the camera comparison between the Pixel 4 and Pixel 3.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=085_hlIcLu8
The gist of it is, it's better but not by much.
If the camera is the sole reason you're thinking of upgrading, I'd stick with the P3.
Personally I'm worried about the smaller pixel 4 battery.
I want to know if this Soli takes 1% battery every 24 hours, 5% or more.
If it's 5% i definitely will disable it. But then I want to be sure that faceunlock works fast when grabbing my phone.
The HDR live mode, also troubles me. Maybe that thing smokes the battery when using the camera.
And finally the 90Hz
To be honest, nowadays, in my Pixel 2, what really kills the battery, is the standby, not the active usage. I can have a lot of SoT if I use the phone non-stop.
In a very light day, AOD takes like 10% battery.

OnePlus 8 pro vs pixel 4 xl

Anyone here coming from a pixel 4 xl?
I'm between those 2 devices and I live in Europe. I currently own a pixel 2xl and I'm pretty happy with the pixel experience so far.
For me, the pros of the pixel 4 are the camera obviously , the flat screen and the price (less than 650€ on Amazon)
Pros of the 8 pro are more modern hardware , more versatile camera , better battery and much higher brightness screen.
If someone has owned or used both can give me an opinion? Does the extra cost of 8 pro is justified?

Real pros from the 8 pro to be honest is better battery and better looking ..( and brighter screen)
Otherwise Pixel...
Forgot to mention that I'm not a gamer so I'm not chasing the latest and fastest hardware.
Dual SIM is also something useful for me and I'm not really sure how well pixel manages that with the e-sim.

I've had both. I was surprised how good the 8 pro was, this is my first oneplus device. The fingerprint scanner and face scanner are very fast. The face scanner is instantaneous. The display is beautiful and very bright, and 120hz is just smooth as lighting. The speakers are very good and loud and connecting to Bluetooth is flawless. The phone is very fast with the 865. The battery lasts all day for me, which none of my other phones really ever have. The cameras are pretty damn good. I'm definitely keeping this phone, I (unfortunately) returned the p4xl.

Hi...
Thanks for your views.
Could you also let us know about the haptic motor feedback on OP8PRO in comparison to Pixel?
I have the pixel 3 and its vibration motor feedback is fantastic.
Thanks

Obviously I don't have either but I think pixel and op are the only Android manufacturers that give attention to haptic feedback and even on the 7 that I have tried is really good. Better than my p2xl.
I had the Pixel4XL and now the OnePlus 8Pro ghere are my opinion:
positive points of the OnePlus 8 Pro:
"unsafe" unlock via the camera works instant, I had to hold the pixel often at an "extra" angle to unlock it
Finance and other critical apps are extra unlocked by the fingerprint
extremely smooth in the handling and the display is nearly perfect
well optimized Android-OS
Fingerprint Sensor
again screen is fantastic
phone design
positive points of the Pixel 4 XL advantages:
Android Updates instant
Camera is probably better, but for my trip and holiday photos the OnePlus 8 Pro is more than great, to be honest I don't see much difference
in very dark rooms the colour image is better / grey problems

Hi, thanks for the comparison. In your last point do you mean the camera in dark room or the screen? Does the 8 pro screen have issues with low brightness?
What do you think about the battery life of the 2? Is it significant better in 8 pro? Thanks again

In very dark environment the screen has issues, but if I hadn't read about them I wouldn't probably recognize them
The battery life (in my case with 2 sims) in the OnePlus 8 Pro is much better.
I sold my 4xl to get a oneplus 8 pro and the 8 pro is better in just about every way.
The display is the best ever. It's fast and smooth. It looks and feels better (ok, my opinion). Battery is definitely better. Brightness is crazy good. I can actually see it in sunlight. Not so much with the 4xl.
The 4xl camera is better, but not by much and only certain aspects are better.
Video is better on the 8 pro and I've been loving the wide angle lens which isn't on the 4xl. And the macro is great too..
Regular point and shoot I give to the 4xl but it's close enough not to really matter.
If you're ok with the money, run to the 8 pro. It's an outstanding phone.

For me it is the best phone after the Pixel 2XL at that time.
PS. I use it as my private and work phone
