GSIs and Treble - Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e Questions & Answers

Hey!
Just wondering if anyone has attempted to flash a GSI on to their Tab S5E. I've got the LTE variant and I'm wondering if GSIs could fill the rom gap (as the wifi variant roms don't have functioning WiFi on the LTE variant)
I've had a brief look at similar samsung devices (similar in the sense that they're running roughly the same platform - SD675) and they seem to be nearly fully functioning, with some minor bugs.

Just as a bit of an update, I was able to get a 9.0 GSI to boot, however, have not had any luck as of yet to get a 10 GSI booting on the Tab S5E LTE

LineageOS for 2016 tab a sm-p580

Does anyone know if there is a lineage os release for the sm-p580? i have seached here on xda and the only thing i can find is lineage for sm-t580
Not if you want to use the s pen.
i dont use the s pen on my tablet, so thats not a big concern. is there something that will work on my tablet then?
T580 roms should work... I bought mine for the s pen. The hardware that makes the pen work requires more code than anyone wants to add to those roms.

mordantly so you do have a sm-p580 and some sm-t580 lineage roms do work on the sm-p580?
I have P580 with s pen. The hardware differences in P and T are the boards to make the s pen work and T has a cellular radio. So a T rom should function fine.. mine is in a bootloop so I will test one for you.
i tried lineage 14 and 16 for the sm-t580 on my sm-p580. twrp gave an error i was using the wrong rom/firmware for my device. if you manage to get it working can you pass along the download link for the lineage rom you used?

Sorry for replying to this old post. Did you guys find any solution to run a custom rom on the SM-P580?
as someone mentioned previously in this thread, to try out the lineageos roms for the sm-t580 tablet, pretty much the same tablet minus 1gb of ram and minus the s pen. ive tried a couple of lineageos rom for the sm-t580 and they do not work. the only other thing i have ran across on xda is someone modded twrp to finally work on samsungs stock firmware 8.1. other than that, think thats about it

Project treble and GSI ROMs Vs aosp ports

As we've now finally got lineage os ported to our device as well as a treble support of some sorts, what are the advantages or drawbacks of running either?
Basically I want to drop Samsung and run a aosp ROM on my s8
I can either flash a port like lineage os 16 (which works quite well by the way) or I can go with Hades treble and flash an gsi ROM.
What would be the benefits or drawbacks of either solution?
I hope someone that has now tested both solutions can comment here.
I am assuming here. I think the treble ROMs can to updated with the latest sercurity patches more easily.
I think the los16 port to the s8+ can do the same but from a developers view I don't know how difficult it is to implement each month.
I'm on a treble rom now and always will be due to the fact that the Samsung s8+ patches are coming every 3 to 6 months now after the September sercurity patch.
I need clarification but I think that is the case.
Happy flashing
...
In regard to twrp backups. It can be done in treble. Just don't backup the system image. Click everything else. It works for me.
Is it actually already possible to activate treble on an Samsung S8 and install afterwards a GSI rom like "Pixel Experience"? So far I just found this "Project Treble for Samsung Galaxy S8".

Galaxy Tab 4 "Value Edition" (SM-T533, matissevewifixxx)

Hi everybody,
I've been looking up and down in this sub-forum but can't seem to find an up-to-date ROM (Nougat or up) that seems to be suited as a daily driver for the Tab 4 SM-T533 "Value Edition" (WiFi only, no LTE). I understand it has a different SoC than the regular Tab 4, hence the ROMs available for that one won't work.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good alternative?
Currently, I am still on Stock Android 5, rooted (with SuperSU) and TWRP in place. So, I'm good to go, just need a decent ROM.
Thanks for any hints and tips!
Cheers
I have the Tab 4 10.1 wifi only edition t530 and there are craploads of roms. Old but still available. Most don't have working camera. I'm currently running a Dual Boot setup where Stock is my primary rom and LineageOS 14.1 is my secondary rom i can boot into whenever I'd like. Pie has also just been released for this device.

Thanks for getting back. Also for reminding me that I forgot to mention the model name. I edited the OP to point out that it's a SM-T533.
Now, the trouble is that the SM-T533 and the SM-T530 supposedly have different hardware so the ROMs for the 530 wouldn't run on the 533.
I'd be happy with Nougat already. Wouldn't even need to be Oreo or Pie.
Too bad, but it seems there aren't enough devices out there so that it would make sense for any developer to spend the time porting a ROM to the SM-T533.
Cheers
Are there any otheres out there using this variant, at all?

Hiya
i acquired ex demo model of the tab4 T530 and T533.
i managed to fix the T530 model flashing with Odin but no joy on the T533.
what i noticed is the the firmware for the T530 had BL CS and AP files ,but the T533 are only i big file, @Poorusernamechoice developer was supposed to break the firmware into AP BL and CS but alas i have not heard anything back , please assist anyone who has the know how
@musafir 7 Thanks for your reply. I don't believe that after two more years chances have become bigger that anyone puts a minute of work into this. :-( By the way: We still have the tab and it's still running, though it's being used only scarcely now.

Working ROM for Markw in late 2021?

Hi,
As of December 2021, is there an alternative ROM that would reliably work for Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime?
I am asking because the standard MIUI ROM has not been updated for years and I am having quite a few glitches - I think, because of that. For example, Vivaldi browser and Fairemail frequently crash, as well as some other programs.
I am looking for something that would, really, just work, hardware- and software-wise. With no bugs. At least with no serious bugs.
My understanding is that the choice is not wide. Please report if you have tested a ROM that works for Redmi 4 Prime in late 2021. I don't want to throw away this phone.
I'm using the unofficial CrDroid by redispade and it's amazing. Best ROM i've used, everything works just fine except that I couldn't get device encryption working properly but if you don't need it it's a great Android 10 ROM.

sadly there don't seem to be any recent updates/roms for our cool markw

That's the thing. I need encryption to keep my data safe.
I wonder if Lineage OS has any encryption issues. I read that when the drive is encrypted, you cannot use fingerprint unblocking. Perhaps there are issues with encryption itself, too.
Thanks for the reply though.
In my opinion, actually, the best Rom out there is lineage 17.1, in terms of stability, whole functionality and amazing battery backup, poor about the feature just in line with lineage tradition (just the possibility to reboot or power off in notification panel).
Of course the encryption make problematic the fingerprint recognition, as each interesting cusrom for Markw!
Sorry for my English.

Thanks for the reply. There's already Lineage 18 for Markw, compiled by Shihabzzz. Is there a way to make encryption and fingerprint compatible though?

In my experience, nowadays, the 17 is more stable to 18 (every @ShihabZzz works is absolute accurate). You can try also mokee 9 or 10 and i suggest you orange fox recovery, the last one official 10.1 to try encryption (sorry but i never used encryption in my devices!)

Okay, I see, thanks.
If anyone got encryption properly working with fingerprint, on any ROM, please let me know.

Thanks, Autokoise. I have asked to confirm if the bug disappeared in the newer LOS versions.
I am using ported miui rom NSA based on miui eu.I am happy with it.It is android 9.I have no major bugs but I don't use encryption sao I can't tell you nothing about it.I tried many roms.Crdroid ,arrowos ,havoc lineage os bit I prefer ported miui.It is so sad that markw never get official android version update.

What's the most recent Samsung Tab A model that LineageOS can be flashed to?
Is it still the T500 2020 model?

I don't know, since I don't own this tab. In the mentioned thread there was no complaint about video issues, but on responsiveness.
So the X200 is in fact the newest A model which runs Lineage, but the ROM seems to be not fully matured, to offer a joyful experience...

If you read the OP, it still show the video problem with LOS 20 but not with 19.1. I've been waiting for some time for a fix before upgrading to 20.
