stuck at 8.0.0.046(08c0) and root problems - Huawei P10 Lite Questions & Answers

Good evening everybody, i've bought a couple of months ago a used p10 lite. OS version is 8.0.0.046(08c0) and i've never received any update. I have also tried with firmware finder but every firmware seems not compatible. Another problem i have is that for many apps my phone appears as rooted, but it isn't really. The fact is i don't really care about OS version, i can deal with that, what i need is to "unroot" this device because i really need those apps. Could you please help me solve this problem and understand why my phone is stucked in this version? Thank you very much

Are you sure the previous owner hasn't unlocked the bootloader or rooted the phone?

It seems like the previous user has probably installed wrong firmware for this phone, that's why you have that weird version number
(e.g. installed single sim firmware for a dual sim device)
Anyway use the dload method https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10-lite/development/service-rom-b362-c432-upgrade-o-o-n-o-t3813946
This will wipe storage so back up your data. Also you'll need a SD card.

Hi! sorry for the late reply, i tried the dload method following the steps. The process ran smoothly but it didn't change my system version, it is still 8.0.0.046 but now instead of (08c0) it is (0KHD) and no there was no data wipe.

First of all is your device C432 (Europe) model.
Those firmware provided in that link are only for C432 devices. Also did you use the right firmware.
Was-lx01 - single sim, 3 GB of ram
Was-lx21 - double sim, 3 GB
Was-lx01A - single sim, 4 GB
Was-lx21A - double sim, 4GB
Use only one of those.
Also make sure that you used the Emui 8 to Emui 8 upgrade method provided in that link and the forced method (hold both vol+ and vol- while rebooting).
Your build number should be something like WAS-LX1 8.0.0.390(C432).
WAS-LX1 is your phone model
8.0.0.390 is the version of the firmware
C432 is devices region
Of course these would be probably different for your device.

My device is italian, so i think it's a c432 one. It is was-lx01A. I downloaded the correct rom, unzipped it and placed it in my microsd as written in the guide and done the force method. The process runs smoothly, no errors at all. Then the smartphone restarts but there's no data wipe and no update, the only thing that changed is that number at the end of the firmware

Do you know your devices carrier? Some carriers have different regional numbers. If it's Telecom Italia (Tim) then your device region would be c55 or if it's Vodafone then it would be c02 and so on.

Ok, after some searching I found Was-lx01AC02 firmware on androidhost.ru, it's B376.
[url]https://androidhost.ru/1JVs[/URL]
For some reason all the C02 firmware is 3.31 GB while all the C432 firmware is 4.43 GB.
Edit: fixed the link

Well then I don't know what's the issue.
Anyway the reason some of your apps wont work is probably because you fail SefetyNet. To make sure that that is the case open Google Play Store, go to settings and check if your device is certified or install a SafteyNet test app from the Play Store.
You can actually check your devices region and model with ADB to make sure that it actually is WAS-LX01AC02.
You'll need a PC for that.
Firstly install ADB and Fastboot using this tutorial https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/.
Then connect your device to your PC, change USB mode to file transfer, make sure that USB debugging is enabled, open powershell (or what ever terminal you're using) in the ADB folder and type
Code:
adb devices
This will show you the device's name (actually it's the serial number) and if adb works.
Then type
Code:
adb -s <device name> shell getprop ro.product.model
adb -s <device name> shell getprop ro.product.CustCVersion
adb -s <device name> shell getprop ro.hw.oemName
and see what they return.
If your device is Was-LX01AC02 then these should return WAS-LX1A, C02, WAS-L01 respectively, I think.
You can also do
Code:
adb -s <device name> shell getprop
This will return all of the properties and their values. You can also get a specific property by using the aforementioned commands but changing the last argument to the property name you want.

How to upgrade from C368B140 to C432B170???

Hi
I'm struggling with updating my P8 Lite (Austria, single sim) and I would appreciate your help.
I downloaded the newest firmware C432B170 from the Austrian Huawei website but I just can't update.
Tried with the Updater's local update but it didn't work.
Tried with force update and that didn't work too.
I have unlocked bootloader, root and TWRP.
Can somebody help me out??

Ok, so this i fearly easy... (once you know it).
the problem is that you tried installing a European dual sim build on a Austria single sim build.
That's not gonna work does it?
1. make sure your device is a Ale-L21 (settings -> about phone -> modelnumber)
2. boot into twrp and wipe everything except sd card.
3. boot into bootloader (twrp can help you with it or just plug your device into the computer and power it on while holding volume down)
4.download this file
5. open the 'FLASH ALL' file in the folder and read the instructions on your screen
6. boot up your device and see that you have the balong bug and no reception. (settings -> about phone in the buildnumber it should say balongXXXXX)
7. take the file in the attachement of this post and unzip it
8. put the unzipt directory in the root of your sd/internal memory
9. go to settings->upgrade->menu->lokal update
10.select 'UPDATE.APP'
11.wait for it to start.
12.once it starts the balong should be gone in buildnumber
13. use the updater to update trough b170 if that doesn't work download it here and extract it and set it in a folder named dload on your sd/internal memory (delete the first file first) the do a lacal update to b170.
14 eat a sandwich because this is gonna take some time and by now you should be hungry
15. everything should work now. you should have 2 imei's and receptions.
make sure you got minimal adb installed (normally you do)
if you have location issues you can chance it by following this thread.

This worked!! Thank you so much for your help!! I really appreciate it!! :good:
I still have some questions though.
After this process, is my phone dual sim now?? Should I use dual sim version updates from now on???
Why should I have 2 IMEIs now?? It still shows only 1.

Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro Rebranding Guide

Due to quite a bit of research, I now have faith in the rebranding method. I'd like to share the method and knowledge for rebranding with the XDA community.
Currently Available Rebrandings:
For Mate 9:
MHA-L29C432 (Dual sim, European version)
MHA-L29C10 (Dual sim, Russian version)
MHA-L09C432 (Single sim, European version)
MHA-AL00C00 (Dual sim, Chinese version)
For Mate 9 Pro:
LON-L29C636 (Mate 9 Pro, Int'l Version, Asia)
LON-L29C432 (Mate 9 Pro, Europe Version)
LON-AL00C00 (Chinese version)
Requirements:
1. (VERY IMPORTANT!!)THE DNS ON YOUR ROUTER MUST BE SET TO 37.114.61.203 -- Make sure this is done and it works before proceeding.MOD EDIT:Link to paid service removed If you can not set your DNS server on your wifi router, you might not be able to recover your phone. Changing windows DNS settings will not help!. The setting must be done on your wifi router. Consider this your warning!
2. External storage (SD card or USB OTG for Mate 9, and USB OTG for Mate 9 Pro)
3. Bootloader code
4. Ability to install TWRP (Check the TWRP thread)
5. MOD EDIT:Link to paid service removed A way to flash firmware to Mate 9.
(NOTE: The partition table is different between versions, and MOD EDIT: Link to paid service removed is the only method I know of right now that can handle changing those. If you use another method and brick your phone, please don't blame me.)
Steps:
0. Before starting, do a full factory reset from the Settings, Advanced Settings menu.
1. Unlock your bootloader, and install TWRP. For instructions doing this, check the TWRP thread.
2. With your external storage inserted into your phone, enter TWRP by holding Volume Up key without USB cable attached to your computer.
3. Once in TWRP, go to the backup menu, and make a backup of your oeminfo partition.
4. Turn off your phone.
5. Put the SD card or USB drive into your computer, look in the TWRP folder, and find the oeminfo backup.
6. Replace the files in the backup with the same files from the download link below for the version you want to rebrand to. Keep your original files somewhere safe so you can go back if you need to.
7. Put the SD card or USB drive back into the phone, boot back into TWRP, then restore the oeminfo partition you just modified.
8. REMOVED flash the firmware that matches the model you rebranded to. REMOVED
9. After the flash has finished, boot into recovery by holding volume up key. Choose the second option to wipe data/factory restore, then choose the third option to wipe cache. Your phone will now boot.
IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE AFTER FLASHING (Wrong version number, no OTA update in the menu, etc.):
1. Perform a factory reset from the setting menu, then do eRecovery again.
2. Ensure that you chose a compatible firmware.
NOTE:
It is very likely you will have trouble after the first flash. You will most likely need to flash TWICE with eRecovery.
oeminfo links:
Thank you for your help.
I've done the conversion almost as you sad but I encounter some problems.
So I started from MHA-AL00C00 and wanted to have MHA-L29C432
1. I've installed TWRP and backup-ed/ restored the oeminfo from your download link.
2. After the oeminfo restore and reboot the phone was in a booting loop - I could't get into TWRP anymore- I could only go into fastboot or into eRecovery.
3. As I didn't have the posibility to get access to modify the DNS on router (I was not home) I flashed MHA-L29C432B138 using HiSuite method.
After succsfully flashed I still have the normal bugs like directly flashing the EU software - Themes do not work, wallpaper changes to default, no Update, etc...
Right now on the phones it shoes :
Model Number : MHA-L29
Build number : NRD90M test-keys
Can you give some advice how I can rebrand it so it is full functional on EU software ? Is the eRecovery the only method I should use ?
Thanks

Hello.
To clarify, do you mean that you put the phone in fastboot and used HiSuite?
If it's possible, you should use eRecovery. I know that fastboot+HiSuite will not work correctly for rebranding (it will have the side effects you mentioned) but you might be able to try booting the phone, then using HiSuite update function.
But the way which is most successful is eRecovery. This goes for flashing regular updates as well. HiSuite is more convenient, but eRecovery is more reliable.

HI,
I put the phone in fastboot and used HiSUite to flash with funkyHuawei..
One more question : Now after the update when i put the phone in fastboot it shows as Phone Locked/ FRP unloked - is it normal ? SHould I do the enire procedure from the start to unlock the bootloader--> TWRP-->oeminfo--> reflash with FunkyHuawei or just reflash? to get the official update doesn't work neither from normal login or from fastboot.
Thanks

You don't need to touch TWRP again. Just use eRecovery method, and it should work. HiSuite/fastboot is only good for recovering a previous version, not good for flashing a new version.

Use erecovery to install the correct firmware.
Is it possible to rebrand from MHA-AL00 to MHA-L29C636, or MHA-L29C900. I'm living in China, and would like to receive OTA updates, I do have a SIM card from the Philippines. Thanks
Just to confirm , if you use HiSuite you will not get OTA and themes, etc just like reflashing without changing oeminfo. If you use eRecovery everything goes as intended. I haven't try to flash the firmware with Two or other similar. I just used funkyhuawei for both methods.
I wanna rebrand a phone (Chinese to International) but the monthly payment seems to me ridiculous, once I rebrand it I don't see the need to use the service anymore, it should be a one time payment.

My phone is caught in a bootloop.
I flashed my device with wrong rom, then I tried a roll back, but I flashed the wrong rollback file(see the pattern? Yes, I am indeed an idiot of epic proportions..)
I don't have access to fastboot or bootloader (I used Firmware Finder for the update.)
I tried Huawei eRecovery; it doesn't work
I tried Hisuite; it doesn't work.
my device model is VNS-L31C16B120.
I have the stock rom for the device.
Can anyone help me?
maybe someone can find a roll back package that will work with my device?
Are you that this is your device? Because a wrong ROM means also that it thinks you have a different device.
We might still try.
What was your Android and Emui Version?
3Gb or 2Gb ram?

Forgot to ask, which region?
if you can access to "update mode" (three-buttons boot), you may be able to use "adb reboot bootloader" to switch into fastboot. im faced with similiar problem, i flashed oeminfo from p9 to p9lite. it brings phone to "coma" and only what helps was DC-phoenix (15 credits). but till i didnt delete oeminfo, phone was still recognized as P9. now im solving missing imei2 and maybe wrong model/custom info and somehow blocked bootloader... so who is "idiot of epic proportions"?

Alright, the flashing is probably easy, but the hard part is finding the right firmware for you. I know that your right firmware should have a B131/B141/B151 or a B161 at the end, because you have a 3GB Ram device and you were on Android 6. I'm not sure about the C though, and this part can **** your device up, like you have. As much as I understand, C is your Kernel number (look it up using Terminal Emulator and "uname -r"). I don't know how to determine the right version for you using the kernel version. I also found out that you will have only minor problems if you have the wrong region (better than bootloop).
Try flashing version VNS-L31C432B161. This is the version I'm currently on. I have also Android 6, Emui 4.1 and 3GB of RAM. I'm experiencing some battery issues, but it's still better than a bootloop. I'm trying to upload the file to drive but it's buggy, I'm going to send you the link shortly. You will have to flash the rom using adb and fastboot, but the problem is, the link is gonna be an update.app, adb can only flash img. Follow this guide to extract all the parts of the update.app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2315547
You will now have 3 or 4 .img files.
Follow this guide to flash them correctly:
http://www.daviddosa.nhely.hu/en/2016/04/05/flashing-via-fastboot/
You might not have the cust.img files, that doesn't matter. You can also try the same with other update.App (run an Android emulator like Bluestacks and download Huawei Firmware Finder)
I'm sure you're gonna find the right version if you search good.
I'm going to upload the file now.
Here's the link, I hope it will help.

i think you are mistaken since some guys have reported successfully doing it ...
in any event if you can't downgrade using dns try downloading the complete OTA package and try doing it in erecovery on your phone ..
failing that you might as well try every method you can find that is related to "restoring" your device using the old OTA package ..
however since this is the only downgrade option AFAIK you are SOT if you can't make it work but you are probably just committing an error or have a bad internet connection etc etc and however painful it's in your own interest to keep trying ..there is just no one button press solution for you ..
i saw somewhere one of the things you can pay dc unlocker for is downgrading but tbh i don't know if it works or not so can't advocate it ...
sorry to hear about your bad luck but if you can't make the above work .....you post a solution if and when you find it to help other guys ...

you can try to download the full OTA update package with firmware finder ...then put the update.zip on internal sd card in folder dload ...boot into erecovery and try to apply the zip ....worth a go..
read & try all these methods

I've been aware that firmwares from Firmware Finder don't work in order to downgrade. You need a full firmware, look for it at https://androidhost.ru/ be sure to search your MODEL and CUST, the lowest build number available. Then extract DLOAD folder and put it in your external SD card, inside this folder you should see update_sd.zip and then another folder with your model and cust which is named update_full_sd... or something. After that go to dialer, type in #*#*2846579#*#* then software upgrade - sdcard upgrade (this wipes data so make a backup). In the end you'll end up with an older firmware so you can use DC Unlocker. I did it in that way and I was able to use the unlock service.

What are u trying to do? These firmwares are not official! They are modified! There is no huawei identity option or firmware update option! Some stock applications are missing and you can't install an official firmware!

Have you even read carefully? I can tell based on my experience, if that's what you believe it's fine, I have done this like a million times without an issue so far. Don't blame others for what you have done wrong my friend.

Is there "huawei identity" part on your rom? Is software OTA update available?
Can confirm this works but i had to do using my pc as a wifi hotspot and setting the dns using speedify proxy due my router not having the options to change the dns. Use TEAM MT Firmware finder pc version and follow the instructions then open hisuite and it will downgrade for you, i was then able to unlock my bootloader with dc unlocker and root with magisk.
I took the telephone to a shop for firmware repair. He tried for a couple of days and he also couldn’t get back to official software.

I can guarantee that its possible even with a locked bootloader aslong as the you are placing a signed firmware onto it.
The method needed is quite a pain, the only way i got it working is by making my pc into a wireless hotspot and altering the DNS from there then in firmware finder you need to register the firmware to you imei/ip then you can either try with huisuite or through recovery to click to check for updates and instead of it asking the official servers it ask or checks the firmware finders dns server which then confirms there is an update

Stuck on NRD90M test-keys

Team,
I've got a problem. My brother got the phone locked on NRD90M test-keys and can't roll back. I've tried getting into the SD card the UDPATE.APP for my model (VNS-L22) but when doing the three key method it shows an error message with something like "incompatibility with current software" and it just gives me the option to reboot the device. I have access to the device as it boots but things like camera stopped working (it's been a while since he did that and he just told me)
I've tried with the "Huawei Recovery Updater thread" here but I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what but it does not work.
Reading a bit more it seems I've to unlock bootloader and do a bunch of things, just wondering what do you think is the best approach or how can I get back to stock ROM, so we he can get OTA updates and have the device working without a problem.
He did this by using the Firmware Finder app from play store, so I guess he did an update and got the device on that state.
Device details:
EMUI Version: 5.0
Android Version: 7.0
Huawei P9 lite
Model: Huawei VNS-L22
I appreciate all the help you could provide,
Thanks!

Hello,
if you remember exactly the complete firmware your device were on
before been stucked on NRD90M test-keys, maybe using Firmware Finder ( FF )
you'll be able to force the update to a newer and working version..
( ex. mine was VNS-L31C432B381 and updated to B415 )
The other method is most complicated...
Unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and use
Huawei Recovery Updater in order to reflash your stock rom.
Then you should use FF too to make an update and correctly
relock the bootloader.
Is you'll use those awesome apps don't forget to thank the developers.
Cheers

Yes I do, actually I just realized the one I could find here wasn't the same I had before so maybe I will try that one. I tried firmware finder from the app but it wasn't working properly, when downloading the FULL OTA files it started crashing and then I was not able to proceed with the "downgrade" now i've used the FF for PC and downloaded the files from FULL OTA, however there are 3 files. I am not sure what to put into the dload folder.
These are the files:
update.zip
update_data_full_hw_normal.zip
update_data_full_ice_cr.zip
As per my understanding I should place only the files from "update.zip" right? I also saw a few comments on a video that said put all content from all three files into the dload folder.
If you happen to know the answer I will appreciate it!
Hello,
I'm also stuck in this rom... But in my case I went from a custom ROM to it. But it blocked my bootloader, etc...
And I forgot my bootloader code
Now I have to unlock it and I will use DC-Unlocked but when I dial this number: *#*#2846579#*#* in this ROM it doesn't show anything!!! So I can't open Project Menu...
What can I do?
Thanks

Dude,
you cannot use DLOAD aka three buttons method
on nougat ( android 7 ) 'cause it wont work.
As i wrote you should know exactly the firmware your device were before the softbrick.
Getting 'nrd90m - test keys' firmware probably mean you already tried to use a wrong firmware.
I don't know whic firmware you downloaded, but i can assure you without that correct no methods will work.
As you can see in the attachment exists many custs ( C185, C569. C576, C635, C636, etc... )
and firmware ( Bxxx ) that indicate the region/brand were you live or where the device was sold when you bought it and if single or dual sim.
Without those info become a lot complicated bring back your device in an working state.
The last chance should be a rebrand but you need some files like OEMinfo zip but ever first you should unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and use HWOTA method, but the risk
to completely brick the device is really high.
Example of a firmware : VNS-L31C432B415
VNS ( venus is the name of the device )
L31 ( is the version of the device )
C432 ( is the cust that indicate the region where was sold )
B415 ( is the running firmware/security patch on the device )
You had VNS-L22 C??? B???

Dude,
before attempting to unlock again the bootloader
you should try to force the update with Firmware Finder.
What was the firmware you were on before flashing your custom rom ?
Which custom firmware you were on ?
How you gone back to stock ?
Which stock firmware you used to go stock ?

So the firmware I had before doing that was VNS-L22C106B150.
What should I do with that if the android app is not working? I mean... I tried doing it with firmware finder and it didn't work, used proxy thing, dns thing, downloaded the files (multiple errors, files corrupted) and it is not my internet connection, it's the app. I did downloaded the files on the Windows app

Ok, if you sure your firmware are L22C106, things aren't so good.
Cannot make an update, can make a downgrade but you need the correct rollback package
and i don't know were you can find it, but in any case you couldn't re-upgrade to android 7.
Checking in the FF PC 's app, as you can see, no nougat
versions of this firmware are present. Which version you downloaded before ?
If you are really sure about that firmware, you have only a possibility, which is
make a rebrand but it's a bit complicated and really dangerous.
Choise remain yours, you can find some guides how to do a rebrand, just search
in the p9 lite threads.
Cheers
