Aurora kernel port - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm new to this platform, so if I post in the wrong place, let me know. I'm starting in this world of kernels, ROMs, mods and recoveries, so I need a little help. I was reading a bit about the kernels, what they are, what they do and so on. For this specific device, there is only one custom kernel, the Aurora kernel. But that thread is now closed, and I was looking for a custom kernel for my specific device (SM-J320M). So, in this post, I ask someone to port the Aurora Kernel for me and all the other owners of the same model that I have. So, if someone has the kindness to do it, I would really appreciate the work that was done.
Regards.

Need Help Compileing Linux Kernel

Hello,
I am wanting to learn how to build my own custom kernel and eventually rom.
I have done some "cooking" with kitchens but am more interested in complete build from source - This would include the kernel itself and stock set of apps that go along. I have googled many subjects but what I find seems to be outdated or just doesnt work. Can someone please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
I have only built the kernel. Have not been able to build the whole ROM.
Look up the relevant stuff on Cyanogenmod wiki
I'll Give it a try. How did you learn to build the kernels?
Thanks

How do I choose a kernel?

Hello. I searched the forum but didn't really find an answer.
I was until 5 minutes ago with the MIUI rom. I know the last kernel I flashed was the cyanogenmod kernel (which I used with another rom...can't remember which one because I flashed 5 roms in 1 day).
I wanted today to abandon MIUI because I was having problems with the display timeout...and some other things, compatibility with applications and details were not really good for me.
So I flashed now the rcmixhd, downloaded from rom manager. What kernel should I use?
And....is a kernel independent from the rom? Will a rom not work with the proper kernel?
*deep breath*
By going through the kernel threads, reading about them, seeing what others say then choosing a few to try, add them, try them, make a decision, keep one.
Just like your radio question and your ROM question it comes down to two things:
1. Your particular hardware capabilities - Some devices like some kernels better than others.
2. What YOU want from the kernel and how much YOU think it's the best one for YOUR situation / wants / needs etc.
Only YOU can decide what one YOU like the most subject to them working ok with your particular handset (this is particularly true for overclocking).
As a rule of thumb, if you're not fussed about over-clocking or BFS vs CFS etc. then what ever kernel the ROM creator advises.
Now please, pretty please, use the link in my sig to find more in depth answers as this question has been asked too many times already.
You don't pick the kernel, the kernel picks you.

[Q&A][HELP]Questions & Help Thread. Noob-Friendly

Hello guys/gals, I am back this time bringing you a very useful thread for y'all newbs and noobs on the internets coming across this thread and seeking help. I will be trying to help you if possible, not only LG L3/L5/L7 but also on this thread you can ask, POLITELY for a stable or smooth kernel/rom. A part of my motivation for starting this thread is for helping people but also for trying to get the Recognised Contributor  . But the main goal of this thread is for HELPING.
Anyways, let's make the form that i want from you:
-device (L3/L5/L7/whatever)
-ROM name, Android version
-kernel name/version (if downladed from here)
-the issue that you are facing, with as many details as possible and some description of the steps you did and where you got stuck.
-if requested, Logcat
4 simple requirements and I or any other OptimaTeam member who knows will try to help you out. Good luck and have a good day. :highfive:

Hey Developers,
I have already built a CM ROM from source for my LG Optimus L7, which wasn't that hard. But now I want to build a ROM from Android Source (AOSP). So my question is: Can somebody give me a guide for the L7 or some advice for building an AOSP ROM?
Thanks:good:

From AOSP you will have to take almost exactly the same steps. Basically there is nothing different to building CM, AOSP, PAC, CarbonRom, etc., but the source of compilation is different and also the thing you will have to do is add the device specific libraries etc. into the AOSP rom sources on your PC and then compile.

[Q] Requesting kernel development for aosp lollipop roms

Coming from Galaxy s3, the only thing I miss on my s4 is the lack of a good aosp kernel. It is sad to see that at present there are no aosp/cm kernels under development. On my s3 there was boeffla kernel available which had a lot of settings we could play with and get the most out of the phone. I hope someone can take up this herculean task and provide us with a super kernel. I know it is just too much to ask for but if someone could take the initiative, me and some of the users here would be more than willing to participate as beta testers and do our part.
Wrong thread.THIS IS ANDRIOD DEVOLOPMENT THREAD.and this post is actually useless as it is a request for ETA.Also persues kernel dev told that he will work on this when he get time.Totally unnessary .please do some research as one of members have same post in s4 QandA
Keep calm.Coz IPL 8 belongs to KKR
The time spent whining about no development would be better spent in learning how to do it yourself. Remember, this is XDA-DEVELOPERS, not XDA-USERS and the developers don't have to do anything if they don't want to.

[REQUEST] s3ve3g NEOX Kernel recompiling.

Hello everyone, first of all I wanted to thank Renix63 for posting the cm12.1 neox kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nel-cyanogenmod-12-1-overclock-1-593-t3230195
Very useful and fun kernel to use, however, I would like to add some custom features of my own (I want to add support for specific wireless USB cards that use Realtek, Atheros and Ralink chipsets).
I did flash the neox kernel onto my phone (together with resurrection remix rom) and got the .config file out, in order to start the 'make' process.
The thing is, that I have no idea which compiler I would be using, and how to give it the path to compile, or how to appoint it to the specific ARCH=arm kernel.
I really need someone to grant me any help, or somehow to enlighten me, PM, Skype, facebook or whatever else.
Thanks in advance for anyone who has the knowledge and willing to share it on this thread with me, and other who are reading it.
NOTE: i will be grateful if someone compiled the kernel for me BUT i would like to know how to do it myself.
Please please please help me, it will be highly appreciated since i was already been looking all over the internet and was working on it for more than 3 weeks straight, without any success.
I would like to thank all the extraordinary developers on this website regardless, especially Renix63 for his wonderful kernel.
