Nokia 5 Source code - Nokia 5 Questions & Answers

HMD already released source code for almost all Nokia's Branded Phones. EXCEPT Nokia 2 and our beloved 5. But my question is why? Why n5 source code not released? Maybe Nokia 5 is failed phone on the market so Nokia don't too much care to this freaking phone. Im very regret buy this phone. Already wait so looonggg but HMD dont do it. I dont know if HMD read this or read other n5 user complain, but pls dont violate GPULv2 license. Since this phone only less than 8gb usable internal, i need root to move my apps to sd, but i cant unlock the bootloader. I have to pay $5 to unlock. What the hell?

Droid Mini XT1030 Rooting and Unlocking Bootloader for Free

Please help me in this. i need root apps and unlocking . coz i have no money etc ..... i need to root my device and want to install cm 12 on my device ....
Um... So do I. Do the research yourself, and spend time. This is so spam-like, and the research is ridiculous.
Yup.... Why motorola is treating customer like this. We paid u n that's it. I think they should provide unlock code for Droid mini as they do for others.

Well, a few things. First off, if you are on android 4.4.4, there is no unlock for your bootloader. Next, there is a "free" rooting method, but based on what you have said thus far, I am going to go ahead and recommend against it. Motorola absolutely *SHOULD* provide bootloader unlock codes for any user not on contract, that wants one. The reason they do not is their agreement with Verizon Wireless stating specifically that they will not give unlock codes for Verizon devices that are not Developer Editions. Motorola phones that are supported are hard to come by, especially if you are a Verizon customer.
Personally, if your Mini is in good shape, (no scratches, dings, etc) i would sell it and hunt out another Mini or a Maxx on 4.4 on Ebay. (i have now done this successfully with a Mini and a Maxx) then you can (yeah, i know you don't like this part) pay $25 to get Sunshine to unlock the bootloader. Maybe that sounds like a lot of $$ for what it is. What i can say is a Dev edition of the Maxx (i know, i had a real one) is about $680 new. The retail version of the same phone was $550 or so. Even buying the phone from Motorola, you still paid more for Bootloader Unlock. I am old enough in the Android community to remember guys like Dan Rosenburg that never asked for $$, (or if you were insistant on paying, he asked you make a donation to charity), and also rooted every other device I have owned before the Mini for free. That used to be how it worked. Now, the only people interested are professionals who are literally spending time and money to find and utilize exploits. If you are really new, you should read up on security vulnerabilities, the qfuse system, and read up on the Azimuth Security blog and see what exactly was involved in the last run of bootloader unlocks. it isn't just someone playing code monkey and making a script. it is bricking (sometimes beyond all repair) $300-600 devices in an effort to make an unlock that might yield the money invested back.
As you said, and I live at the moment, you do not have money. This, my friend, sucks. I can say that in order to invest in my android devices, i have sold other things i cared about less (rare vinyls, extra devices, etc.) The reality is, $25 is not very hard to come up with if you are determined. Principally, at first glance, i disagreed with the premise of paying for what i feel should be an inherent feature of any android device, but when Motorola themselves say nothing will change the policy, I would much rather pay the money and know i am unlocked. google #unlockthedroids and you will see my names (kitcostantino, medicbeard, etc) a time or two...believe me i have tried. Motorola sells a crapload of devices to Verizon. Unfortunately, that means that Verizon (and also ATT) have too much clout and control over the Moto devices they sell for use on their networks.
The reality is, in the forseeable future, there will be less and less opportunity to unlock a retail device that is not a developer or pure edition. Security software checks and hardware gets better and better. the Devs that get through have a harder and harder time, and the knowledge is becoming more and more specific. I actually messaged DjrBliss on Hangouts to ask if he had any plans to work on the Turbo bl and he told me it was a stressful part of his life he was glad to be past. Honestly, he was so completely nice and cool about a total stranger contacting him, it blew me away. One of the most amazing exploit creators with ZERO pretentiousness, totally chill, and glad to talk to a fan (i have used his exploits on many of my phones). With dudes that capable not wanting to invest their time and efforts, we are left with mostly security experts to find our unlocks.(who can potentially make a crapload of money with their time and skillsets). Is $25 a lot compared to what these guys could be making? nope. but in all honesty, as I am inclined to do myself, I suggest you read up on anything Motorola related with regard to Qfuse, security checks, etc. The new age of exploits is upon us. The end user is going to have to be far more intelligent and far more comfortable doing things themselves to have control over their devices. In a way, it is a good thing because users that cannot do anything without a one-click or an app will be weeded out. In another way, it is horrible for android development, because those that do not have time, nor money to invest will get lost in the shuffle if they cannot buy a dev or unlockable device. I wish you the best man.
Can you guys learn to help instead of standing here complaining? For example, learn to deal with the All-PKG QHSUSB-DLOAD, download crap, be fearless and flash onto your device....

Hello, is it possible to get root for Droid mini with SU 6-7.7 somehow?
not as far as i know. not wp off full root at the very least. i have two droid maxx stuck on that same firmware with some success with temp root with kingroot, but reboot kills it. the newest firmware doesn't even do that.

Android M for Cricket Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530AZ

Google announded Android M today... So when will we get Android M (Mars Bar) for Cricket Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530AZ
After all the Android L is so yesterday and we only have some KitKat 4.4
Sorry to break this to you, but we most likely won't get it.
Why not. This is what gets me upset.. Microsoft with Windows 10 and apple push updates to the phone... Why can't Google handle android updates for the base operating system. Microsoft will be doing it with Windows update tool. It is a black eye that about a year later after 5.x came out most phones don't have it. Stupid crappie like this makes me love apple more and more.

android is very open, which makes it impossible for google to update all the devices in market to the latest android version.
Dude, I won't even get the Lollipop update in my country..

I am not a hater. I own a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime and before that I owned a Nokia 1320, Nokia 635, Nokia 630, Nokia 5xx all on Cricket. Before that I used an unlocked Moto g 2nd edition, a Moto G 1st edition... I started about 10 years ago on Windows Mobile on a HTC Apache PPC6700 by UTStarcom on Sprint, then had the HTC Mogul, Palm Treo WIndows, HTC Touch Diamond, and some others... So I went back to Windows Phone and liked it but the applications are missing and no official google apps other then google search. I am simply saying that if Microsoft is now going to push updates to all Win 10 Phones then why cant google do it as well. This issue here with the updates taking over a year to get to phones other then the most expensive flag ship models is stupid. Now granted Apple has far less phones to deal with from the 4 to the 6plus but they do it as well... Microsoft does it with even the windows phone 8 devices from the developers preview program for $20... Hell i would pay google a small upgrade OS fee just to get them when google releases a new version. I would even wait maybe 60 days after the nexus gets it if i had to but not 1 year... Perhaps google needs to ban the custom skins and all and have everyone compete on hardware and look and feel of the device. and yes i do change my phone every few months after getting tired of it... But this Grand Prime is nice as it handles the encryption on the 64bit cpu and i dont see any real performance hit. For my 15 year old son I have for him a ZTE Grand X Max Plus that is cool but does not have nfc....

I hate Google too with this i don't care if there are lots of phones Google should make the drivers avaiable for all developers and companies so they can make some newer version of Android it doesn't have to be with all features just like Apple is doing for 4/4S releasing iOS 9 Lite that doesn't have all the features google should do this to all phones weak or old. But they don't give a damn.... :/
Should Google also lock down the OS like Windows Mobile is doing when it comes to the launcher
We should have massive protests over android updates... We should do a sit in at Google headquarters
Wow, this sort of ignorance must be what creates Apple fanboys. Android, unlike either of the mobile OS examples you gave, is OPEN SOURCE. They do not develop the updates for your device, that is done by your carrier our by the manufacturer (i.e. Samsung) at the carrier's request. Google does not develop the "drivers" you've mentioned, again that's the device manufacturer. Google makes the OS source and all APIs available to all carriers and manufactures. One of those parties, most likely your carrier, decides if they feel it would be advantageous to build (or pay for) an official update for your device model.
This is very basic information and common knowledge. If you don't know how it works, then obviously you cannot work it. Next time please Google before you bash Google.

Will any of the bootloader/twrp guides for the regular axon 7 work for the mini?

I haven`t seen any dev support for the mini model...Will we ever get a bootloader unlock or even just root?

No, different SOC and kernel, the Axon 7 and Axon 7 Mini only share a name, otherwise they are completely different devices.
Patience, if it sells well enough and after ZTE releases the kernel source code we will see some activity... how much will vary on how well it sells, but when it's on sale for $199 it's a serious bargain and hopefully some devs will snag it up and bring some basic root/roms to the device.
With off-brand and low volume devices this will likely become less and less common though, with Marshmallow and newer OS's root and romming is being much more difficult. Even chainfire (primary developer of SuperSU) has said rooting stock devices probably won't even be an option within 2 to 3 years, and that the reality is Google could shut down all known rooting methods if they wanted too (which, luckily that doesn't seem to be a priority for them, or even on their radar at the moment).
id say no and it doesn't look like there will be much if any development at all on the mini. id just buy the regular axon 7.

64GB Alcatel Idol 4S Windows Version down to $100

Looks like microsoft is clearing these out...
I don't know anything about it, but is it (or has it been) possible to put android on the windows version?
From what I read already it isn't that easy or even possible as of yet . I just bought the phone for simple needs and will be used as a replacement at work or when I'm taking trips . If by chance I were to lose my phone I would rather have lost this one than my main phone.

A Forgotton Device *Honor 9i*

hi guys i think huwaei is busy in developing its new deices and as a market strategy ,its continue and focusing on new devices. As after 4 months thereis no update for our device and newly launch devices like 9 lite and 7 x which is cheaper in price and have almost same specs as we have.but for themhuwaei have update and our device doesnt getting a face unlock feature.i think its my big mistake to jump from mi to huawei.very slow or say no updates.shame on them.
i feel that we are cheated.
Never too late to sell your phone. I was blinded by the quad-camera hype as well and sold my Redmi Note 4... Now I'm sure as hell am going back to Xiaomi. Took them long to release the Note 5 Pro.
4 months????
Huawei gave Face unlock and AR Sticker just 2 months ago. There's beta testing going for Oreo in some regions. It has highest chances of getting Treble support, it bootloader can be unlocked, TWRP is available. Huawei will likely give it 2 major upgrades (O and P). Even after that you can flash GSI (with Treble support) of latest android (say Q). As Google is modularizing most stuff there will be a time when we can flash latest android version just like we flash latest Windows on old PCs.
If you feel cheated then think about us with a Samsung S8, Note 8 which is high end device and there's no treble support for us. We can't unlock BL (US models). We won't get exclusive S9 features through update (Huawei is giving face unlock through update, EMUI 8).
Still you think it's abandon..
