What explains no charging when charge port is good (brand new)? - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The charge port of my son's 6P stop charging. Since it was so "wiggly" that the USB-C charge cord would barely stay connected (suggesting to me that my son had been too rough in plugging-in and unplugging his charge cord until he broke the charge port), I decided to replace the daughterboard which has the charge port on it.
I ordered a new daughterboard, opened the phone and replaced the existing daughterboard with a brand new one. Now the charge cord fits snuggly. But it still doesn't charge.
The wide ribbon cable which runs down from the top of the battery area to the daughterboard is reconnected. The antenna lead is reconnected. All connections are snug. Still no charge.
Q. - What are the most likely failures that would explain this?
I wouldn't expect multiple components (like charge port and battery) to fail simultaneously. The original charge port was definitely worn out. What am I missing?

Stand alone 8525 battery charger?

Do they make a stand alone 8525 (hermes) battery charger? Perhaps I could order a spare battery and wall charger for it?
Issue I have is that with my home wall charger, the connector at the bottom appears loose. I have to hold it a certain way for the orange charge light to work. If I touch it while plugged in, the charging light blinks to orange to off and back randomly (like a very loose connection).
At work my USB cable doesn't do this, but I took a pair of plyers and squeezed the cable connector so that there would be a tighter fit. I've seen other people's StarTrek(3125) completely break off the port inside the phone, so in case that would happen to me I was hoping for a backup solution for at least charging the battery. I can still sync or transfer files with WiFi, but yeah it would suck if the USB connector inside the Hermes broke off like it does on the StarTrek flip smartphones.
While I have not tried one there are some available. Here is a link to a place that advertises one: http://www.cellphoneshop.net/debachwipoco3.html

found my culprit! - why I lost my quick charge over AC adapter - It's Charging Cable!

Ok I recently found my TF101 losing the quick charge capabilities, so I went on and on to find the rootcause, the charging cable at the end of the tablet has some tiny broken piece at the round plastic part and it's no way to defect the cable..
Another issue, my 15month son once time chewed the charging cable over the proprietary connector side while the plugged in the wall (no harm since it is 5v, 2.1A), it was wet but hair dryer did the job
After that I plugged the charging cable to the ac adapter, tablet...but now the thunderbolt charging icon won't show up but charging very very slow (called trickle charge) - 12hr for 100%...
Lucky for me, my co-worker uses TF101 too, so I borrowed his ac and charging cable to test...FINALLY, it was the charging cable
So everyone else,,, I guess if you suspect your AC Adapter fried or something, just try to charge your phone, if it works, it works - the charging cable can be defected and degraded so it will charge fast or slow depending the CHARGING CABLE as well - it's ironically found but I now had to believe CHARGING CABLE is also another factor in this equation rather only AC Adapter itself!
good luck!

I wouldn't recommend plugging in any other usb rechargeable device into the Asus AC adapter because it outputs 10V if I remember correctly.
Unless you KNOW the device you are plugging in can handle the output voltage from the ac adapter, DO NOT PLUG IT IN because you run the risk of frying your device.

It uses a USB3 pin to detect the TF, and ups it to 15v at 1.2a. Unless it can detect the TF USB3 pin, it only outputs 5v at 1.x or 2.x amps (I forget the exact number).
I had JUST finished reading about that in some other thread and was coming here to correct myself. You beat me to it by a few minutes.

I'm glad you found your problem. So should we disregard your last 4 posts of Asus conspiracy and faulty TF and Dock FW updates?
No mann - I believe they already planted the conspiracy around us - see we are all in purchasing the TF101 - now we need to spend more money for the accessories ...etc - you see how they lure us into this kind of sh(*&()&)(*&

You let your 15 month old son crawl around unshielded power sockets and plugged-in power cables with little enough supervision that you couldn't stop him before he was already chewing on it?????

Diagnose battery or charge port fail?

I fried my charging port socket (don't ask -- coffee, I think). It smelled burned and the charger tip would get hot in the port. I bought a new charging port panel and properly installed it with the protective film removed from the bottom and carefully connected the ribbon cable. The phone will not accept input through the charging port micro USB, but it will charge on a wireless charger. Could I have fried the connector at the battery through which the plug-in power goes? Is there a separate circuit that inputs current from the wireless charger? Could that explain why changing the charging port circuit panel did not fix the problem? Should I buy a new battery and try that? Diagnostic help would be appreciated.

Dead charging circuit?

Hi everyone;
I've having an interesting time with my nexus 7 (2012 wifi 32gb).
Before I left on vacation I couldn't get the thing to charge. Looking at the usb port I thought it had become to damaged to make a good connection. So while I was away I ordered a new port assembly. Installed that and still no charging.
Oh the battery cell voltage had gone down to 2.2V so it's in a sleep mode. No problem used a proper lion charger to trickle charge it back to life then further to about 3.8V.
At that point it boots up though the optimization took the charge down to 2% so couldn't do more testing but clearly it worked just fine. However the thing won't charge. Plugging it in to USB it does detect the connection but does not draw any current (as shown by a usb voltage/current monitor). It will show the charge screen, go through 3 cycles of the battery filling animation then shut off.
I check and the voltage is getting from the usb cable into the connector. I traced the ribbon cable from the IO board up to the motherboard and at the other end I also get a nice 5V reading. Clearly the connection from the USB to the device is being made no problem.
At this point I am thinking that maybe I blew the charging circuit. When I was orignally trying to get it to charge before leaving I was applying all kinds of stress to the connector to get it to charge and there was a few times where I think I shorted it (usb monitor showed >3A and the device reset).
Anybody have another theory?
At this point I can't really use it as charging the cell externally is dangerous and not convenient. At this point from what I have seen with my testing and on here if I want to use it I would have to apply 5V to the battery connector (sans battery) which I haven't tried yet.

No Fast Charging

Hi
I have a problem with the device or charger I do not know
First of all my charger charge on one side only if I flip it stop charging (video is added)
And secondly the phone is charging really slowly and not show "fast charging" only "charging"
i test with Ampere and i get very low mA (picture added)
i tried lg g5 charger but again the charge is slow and show "charging" only but it's charge in Both sides

My guess is a gummed up port. Use a magnifying glass and bright light to inspect USB port for debris, corrosion, or damaged pins on both sides of connector. You may also notice some pins less shiny than others. They're dirty. Or take pics of the ports with a good camera and zoom in. Do the same for the unplugged cable. Clean by turning off the phone, dipping toothpick in isopropyl alcohol and wiping pins with toothpick. Allow a few minutes for evaporation and give it a try.
You could do a RMA
If it's charging on both sides with one cable and not the other, it's probably the cable. I recently had this issue of slow charging on my wife's phone and found the best way to solve it is with amphere and grabbing all the micro USB cables in the house. I ran amphere, and plugged each cable in and let it test then used the one with the best draw. Ironically the one with her phone (LG g3) was among the slowest at about 200.. And the one for her Bluetooth earpiece came in at the highest at just over 2000! I'm guessing it was a defective cable cause we had previously rarely used the one that came with her box cause she had the Galaxy s4 cable still as it was like almost 3 feet long! The Bluetooth one is alot shorter but charges so much faster she just leaves it be for a bit and can charge it fully in alot less time. Difference is a couple hours versus overnight. Give it a try with whatever ones you can find around the house!
