[Q] Cant flash Stock rom anymore - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hello everybody,
I got a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F) DBT version and flashed a Custom ROM (Firmware? idk the difference).
I did that like this: youtube.com/watch?v=_1ofpLHMVvA
Unfortunately there were a few problems there, like the camera is awful now (Bad quality and other camera apps didnt made it better).
So now I want back my Stock ROM. (Yes, Unfortunately I didnt made a Backup)
But I cant get it back, neither with TWRP or with Odin.
At Odin its stops at system.img and fails than and at TWRP I guess I used the wrong Rom because is said Zip file is corrupt!.
The following Stock ROM did I use for Odin and TWRP: updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=2A12F0CE03CD11E7963AFA163EE8F90B
At Odin I unziped it and added it the right way: (BL, AL, CP and CSC).
At TWRP I didnt unziped it and used it like it is.
I hope you can help me there.
I have already made the following:
Changed USB Port
Changed USB cabel
Used Smart Switch
And yes, I can still install custom roms like LineageOS and Resurrection easily via TWRP.
Greetings, Darkatzu.

It is, because you will need no verity opt encrypt to flash too alongside official stock rom in order to use stock rom if you rooted by system modification method, with oreo 8.0 I think no verity zip is not working, so you need to flash latest nougat for your country/region alongside twrp , no verity zip and super su, you can download latest stock firmware for your region from samfirm application or updato, also download odin version 3.13.1, latest twrp recovery, super su and no verity opt encrypt from here on xda forums, first check and enable oem unlock, flash stock rom and then flash twrp through odin, then boot in twrp recovery and flash no verity and super su zips, to get detailed info on above steps search the forums. AND PLEASE TELL WHATS ASKED IF YOU WANT TO GET HELPED.
!! NOTE : IF YOU ROOTED FIRST TIME BY SYSTEM MODIFICATION METHOD, AND THEN INSTALLED CUSTOM ROM, THEN FLASHING STOCK ROM BACK WILL PUT YOU ON A DM VERITY ERROR. ALWAYS REMEMBER TO ENABLE OEM UNLOCK IN DEVELOPER OPTIONS BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!
HAVING OEM UNLOCK DISABLED AND THEN ROOTING VIA SYSTEM MODIFICATION METHOD, AND THEN FLASHING STOCK ROM WILL PUT YOU IN A HARD BRICK SITUATION WITH BOTH DM VERITY ERROR AND CUSTOM BINARY BLOCKED ERROR !!
As far as I know the above situation has no solution if you get into this mess and only a memory swap on board or some box can fix this. I know many users here on xda are stuck on this situation. Some users said they fixed this by using nand erase all and re partition using pit file options during flashing in odin, but I really doubt enabling these options will solve this if not making problems worse. Anyone is welcomed to correct me if the above situation has any solution. BUT THAT IS WHY SYSTEMLESS ROOT IS THERE TO AVOID ALL THIS...

Maybe you are using an older bootloader ? Can't say for sure whats causing it, the method you used above I think required system modifications, but you are using a march 2017 stock rom, so it looks updato don't has V2 bootloader firmwares for DBT, problems may happen when flashing an older bootloader on a newer one, it could also be your pc or other hardware problem, but in case try again and download samfirm from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3803841
Enter DBT as your region and model SM-G935F , it will download the latest stock available, be sure option for auto decrypt, check crc32 and binary nature are ticked.
After that check oem unlock and usb debugging is enabled and follow the steps :
1. Put phone in download mode, use original usb cable, and make sure pc usb port is working correctly. Also phone must be charged above 50%.
2. Download odin 3.13.1 from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4431597&d=1519662712
Latest twrp available https://eu.dl.twrp.me/hero2lte/twrp-3.2.1-1-hero2lte.img.tar.html
Latest no verity opt encrypt https://build.nethunter.com/android-tools/no-verity-opt-encrypt/no-verity-opt-encrypt-6.0.zip
Latest stable super su https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/supersu/download/zip/SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip
3. Put phone in download mode, extract the firmware downloaded above from samfirm tool and put the respective files in their boxes, use CSC and NOT HOME_CSC. Make sure no option other than F.reset time is ticked in odin options. Begin the flash procedure. After it is completed, don't reboot and place twrp zip downloaded from above in the AP tab of odin. After it is completed, stay in download mode and hold power+home+vol down to reboot from download mode and immediately switch to vol up button to boot in twrp recovery menu.
4. In twrp recovery menu, you need to swipe for system modifications or tick read only ( if you previously allowed for system modifications then you can do it again it doesn't matter, but if you previously didn't swipe for system modifications then tick read only and download systemless zip from https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/samsung-systemless-devbase-encryption-t3517178 )
I will recommend this as you won't need to flash dm verity.
5. Now, go to wipe> format data in twrp recovery, after its done, flash super su and system less zip through twrp to get system less root if you don't want to get dm verity error hassle when flashing stock roms OR flash super su and no verity opt encrypt if you already have allowed system modifications. After that reboot. It may take sometime.
Also to note if you never allowed system modifications before in twrp, and you don't want to root either, then you can safely flash stock without flashing twrp or going through further steps.
This is what I could best explain according to my limited knowledge, if you still fail to flash stock in odin, then I am not sure it may be your pc or other hardware problem and you may need a repair box, try checking on another pc or some expert user to help. Good Luck.
These steps are only for installing stock rom back on previously rooted S7 edge devices using custom roms and for rooting a stock rom.. and only applies to SM-G935F

I already tried with samfire.
Same error.

Sorry I couldn't be much help. Does it always stucks in odin at system.img? Looks like its a hardware problem in your pc/usb ports or phone's usb jack. Try getting your phone checked by a repairer, flashing from another pc or changing usb cable. Also try running odin as an admin or try with an older odin version. Good Luck

And yes, I changed PC 2 and yes tryed other versions of Odin LIKE where AP is named as PDA.

Strange thing if you could flash recovery but not the stock rom, looks like you need to get it checked by a tech. But as a last resort did you tried using pit file and repartition ticked? To get the pit file extract the CSC file and you will find .pit file there, open pit tab in latest odin and select that pit file, then tick repartition box and proceed to flash with all other files selected in their respective boxes. If its still the same then I guess I can be of no more help. Cheers !
!! Warning : Using pit file is never recommended and it could brick your phone permanently if there is any power outage/usb disconnection during flashing with pit, it is used to correct file system partitions if they are changed/corrupted. Its better to outweigh benefits with potential danger. Also a pit file will erase all partitions first, then write flash data from beginning and if you again stuck at system.img when using pit file, you will be left with a permanent brick. So I will recommend to get it checked by a tech if you want stock rom that bad and don't do any risky thing with your pricey phone

Its not necessary to flash stock, simply reflashing the engboot will suffice, and does not wipe the device.
First of all you wanted to Flash SuperSu.... Did you enable Android Debugging.... Then check OEM Unlock?
If not you messed up there...
Next You need use Odin to flash CF-Root. You are now running a patched Kernel and SuperSU
Use TWRP app to install twrp for your device.
i have the same exact problem, been trying to flash stock firmware but cant get it to work. help please!!!! which firmware? can i get a link please!!!!!!!!!!

Hello, having same issue. Didn't realize you can only make backups with flashfire, not actually flash them back with the program too...
I have the original files I installed with Odin, are one of these the engineering boot file? (BL, AP, CP, CSC?)
Or are you talking about something else...? Thanks!

You flash the engboot file you used to root the device, the one you placed in AP and is around 20 mb in size (not the actual firmware) .

Custom Binary blocked by FAP Lock

Dear Community,
I have managed to reach this wonderful error message on my S8. A few of you knew this maybe with "FRP" from other Samsung devices. However, I know I get this because I am using a custom rom and a modified kernel. I also do know a possible solution might be flashin a new stock firmware through Odin - so my question is, how can I save my data? I only need my Whatsapp folder and my pictures.
For the nosy readers, I did download a GPS Faker App from the Google Playstore, and I had to re-enable my developer settings. Sadly I forgot to push the button for "OEM Unlock" to yes.
Have a nice day!
Sadly there is no other way to fix this, the only way I got it to work again was to go into Odin mode and flash a stock firmware ( I also lost root access and TWRP, which I installed afterwards again )
You can YouTube how to flash a stock firmware
Hopefully this helped

Is there no other option like installing an unmodified kernel through odin? Tried with Jesse, but I was not able to transform the flashable .zip to a .tar.md5 for Odin.
I'm pretty sure to install a custom kernel you need OEM unlocked, but I might be wrong... I just installed the firmware i needed from sammobile and flashed it using Odin.

Just to touch on this for future readers.
He already had OEM Unlocked (So to speak) He has flashed a stock ROM or Custom ROM, and continued with Rooted, TWRP and maybe Xposed.
But for one reason or another he has had to activate the developer settings to change a toggle.
In doing so, he changed the toggle needed, but this also Triggers the OEM Option.
If you do not select the OEM Option, then when you reboot your device, you are locked with this message.
It basically sets it self to off.
There is no way to bypass this message, the system has blocked itself from booted and thats that.
All you can do is flash the Stock Files via Odin again, You may be lucky flashing the Home_CSC file to prevent Data loss, But dont hold your breath

one of the lucky ones here.
I think my biggest obstacle is my Mac. Got all my pre-requistes sorted out , run jOdin, connected to phone, open up the firmware folder and designate the correct files, get the PIT file, and click start.... and get "A corrupted file was detected. In order to continue, you must select a valid Odin File" error . Downloaded several firmwares and cant get past this issue.. Not sure what to do (new versions of jOdin comptability? But even back in 2017, i tried flashing with jOdin but never succeeded despite following every step.

Remove frp lock in rooted soft bricked phones.

SORRY ABOUT MY BAD ENGLISH
I am writing this tread because i recently unlocked the frp lock on my bricked ROOTED samsung galaxy note 5 (SM-N920C). I faced problem in flashing stock firmware as my phone lost drk. And hence i do research and it took about a month to find a solution. I am sharing it here.
Tools i used.
1. Samsung tool pro( cracked version)
2. SM-N920C Combination file:
http://shell.boxwares.com/default.aspx?DeviceModel=SM-N920C&Type=All#fh5co-table
Because i am on nougat firmware the Samsung tool pro doesn't work and at the same time i am not able to down grade the firmware due to frp lock.
3. TWRP RECOVERY
https://twrp.me/samsung/samsunggalaxynote5.html
PROCEDURE:
1. Flash the combination file in download mode. And wait for the phone to boot. In my case the phone doesn't boot.
Then go to download mode agian and remove frp lock with samsung tool.
2. Flash TWRP.
3. Flash any custome rom from TWRP. :good:
simply go to download mode and flash official firmware
after phone starts go to settings>>developer mode>>enable oem unlock toggle
that's all no frp lock anymore. i wonder why it took you 1 month to figure this out.

Flashing firmwares will not undo FRP. No matter how many you flash. Solving the FRP problem lies elsewhere. And to another comment some FRp locked sammys will flash in odin under lock,Others will not. FRP lock is contained in a Partition in the device that is not touched by odin. If flashing orig stock firmware does not boot due to DRK problem then that has to be addressed first. I have not had a Note 5 in a while but This much I do know.

verification failed after root s7 edge nougat (CANT ROOT MY PHONE)

Hello I have the S7 edge g935f nougat 7.0 , I flashed the twrp last version, got into twrp, flashed the SuperSU, and then after reboot said verification failed etc.. I flashed a stock rom which has the December security patch probably that's the reason why says that... I tried to flash the rom again, then flash first a dm-verify zip and then SuperSU (tried with magisk too) but nothing changed.. what to do ?
This is for Exynos
1.Turn on Odin3 and connect your phone to PC in Download Mode (hold "Power & Home & Volume -" for a while).
2.Download lastest custom recovery correctly for your model from offical TWRP website then unpack zip to get flashable *.tar file.
3.Put twrp-3.2.1-x-xxxxxx.img.tar file to "AP" tab.
4.In Options tab check only "F. Reset Time". ATTENTION: rest options must be UNCHECKED!!!
5.Press "Start" and wait till finish flashing (you will see "PASS" info as on THAT screenshot when flashing will be finished).
6.Press and hold "Power & Home & Volume -" for a while to reboot your device. Directly while phone rebooting (when display is turned off/black) press and hold "Power & Home & Volume +" till custom TWRP recovery menu shows up.
7.Go to "Wipe" menu, and swipe to right for "Factory Reset".
8.Now you can flash any zip file to your phone, so all custom ROM's & kernels & mods etc and also you can ROOT with lastest Magisk.zip or SuperSU.zip, etc.

What is equinox?
I want to flash the stock rom not a custom one because it's says you can flash any custom rom , after all steps can I flash again the stock rom ?
after i swipe right to factory reset my device says failed to mount '/data' (invaliod argument)
...done
Unable to mount storage
tried to flash the no-verify-opt-encryption zip but nothing changed ..
You need to go into TWRP straight after installing it and do the following:
Click Wipe --> Click right button that says "Format Data".
Type "yes" to continue
If that doesnt help:
How to solve problem with mounting "/data" in TWRP?
1.Flash THAT package via TWRP or go to CF-Auto-Root website, download package for your model and stock firmware on which you are/were and just flash it via Odin3

Dont know where is the problem, are you following steps correctly? Install twrp > wipe all data > flash rom > flash super SU / magisk . Also don't flash carrier firmwares, flash the correct carrier free firmware for your region IF your phone is NOT carrier locked.

No, i will never think that anyone has lesser knowledge than mine, i am a newbie myself. But why you wipe all internal memory ? If you want stock then only format data and cache/dalvik. Also use system less root or otherwise you will get dm verity fail error. You can also flash no verity opt encrypt to bypass this error if you don't want to use system less root.

Ofcourse, there is a whole lot of tweaking when using custom kernels/roms. But be careful, as these tweakings requires much research as it could also damage the hardware if done the wrong way. My advice still is to go back to everything stock and then root it using twrp and super su. Again, don't wipe all internal storage, only data and dalvik cache. Good luck

[SOLVED] How to downgrade S7 Edge SM-G935FD from android 8.0 Oreo to Official 7.x?

Hello, I have recently installed Android 8.0 (Unofficial) on my S7 edge as mentioned in this thread by ProtoDeVNan0. And also installed TWRP recovery as explained here to upgrade it. After installation figured that it has some issues with some features.
So now I am trying to downgrade to the latest official firmware.
But every time I download and install the official firmware zip file using TWRP, it says the zip file is corrupt. So I tried downloading from different sources and still it says it is corrupt in TWRP.
And then I tried using Odin after extracting the Zip file. Using the tar.md5 files inside it. It fails as well.
And also found no way to install the official recovery.
Is there any way I can downgrade from 8.0 to official 7.0? And also I would like to remove TWRP and install official recovery. Basically returning it to its original state.
Searched a lot and found no possible ways to do so.
Please help. Thank you
SOLUTION:
I have found the solution to the issue.
I previously tried using odin to load all the packages in the zip file all together which was the reason i was getting the error.
The solution is to tick and select AP file only in odin and start.
(in case stuck at meta-data unplug)
Then reset odin and re-start the phone into download mode again.
Now tick and select the CSC file (not HOME_CSC), and then start.
After the phone reboots, a factory data reset will occur and phone boots up.
Why are you using TWRP to attempt to install Official samsung firmware?
You do it all through ODIN, it'll put your device back to basically original setup state with stock firmware. Flash with CSC and not home_CSC, I assume you have no data you will need to backup before hand.
More info here:
http://updato.com/how-to/how-to-install-an-official-samsung-stock-firmware-using-odin
Which Version you use odin? I try your solution but dont work on my g935f?
BL not downgraded!

STILL NOT DOWNGRADED!!
You can apply the solution described above (using ODIN to flash AP, CP and CSC with a previous version of firmware). However, the Boot-loader will remain under the latest version (since January 2018 update).
The problem is drastically worst for those who used to patch certificates before the January 2018. For those users, I will advise to not install the update from January 2018 because, they will not find any tools currently available to patch certificates and get the phone work a new. They can try but it will not be successful and the phone will keep saying "Emergency call only" or "not registered on network".
Anyone having successful experience to inform others please!
Thank you.

In Options tab check "F. Reset Time", "Auto Reboot", "Nand Erase", "Re-Partition" and "Phone Bootloader Update". Rest options must be UNCHECKED!!!
If anyone need Firmware of March for G935F and the PIT , then let me know.

Sorry if my english is not good, i'm confused where to go for help.
I also experienced the same problem. I just tried installing android 8.0 (from the same link and way as you explained) and it works. but after I tried several times, a lot of bug that makes me uncomfortable.
So I plan to restore it to the official/original firmware version as before. I've tried using odin and also the same as you experienced, always fail when installing BL. And AP, CP, CSC works well.
Then, what should i do?
Can someone please help explain to me more clearly? with more easily understood words. My English is not very good, I still have to use translator for sentences that I do not understand. I would appreciate your help.

after trying for many days got this Solution.
The baseband should be same or higher of the firmware to downgrade.
Example: G935FXXU2DRAG Oreo
G935FXXU1DRAG Nougat ( will not happen.)
Both should be same I mean the U2 in the middle.
Or u can downgrade upgrade from U1 oero to U2 Naugat. But not from U2 to U1 Baseband.
Hope it helps.
Just download last nougat release and flash it using latest odin simply guys,
I have tested, no one needs to use pit file or nand erase etc. Use samfirm to download latest firmware for your model. Then use latest odin to flash. Be sure to use normal csc file, NOT the home csc. You don't need pit file when using normal csc, its included with it.
If you used twrp recovery etc to flash unofficial oreo releases, you need to first confirm if oem unlock is enabled, don't tick on auto reboot option, just tick F.reset from odin options, then first flash latest nougat for your region through odin, then flash twrp through odin. Then when odin says pass, force reboot into twrp recovery from download mode, then format data in twrp and flash super SU/magisk and no verity opt encrypt. Then reboot and you will be good.

can't downgrade
odin gives "FAIL" when starting the procedure.
i have the U1 nougat version and the U2 oreo version.
can't seem to find U2 nougat ( if any) and I guess upon upgrading to OREO sonething had changed and can't downgrade anymore.
I managed to get into android recovery and did a factory reset and total wipe but nothing, through ODIN flashing doesn't work.
Any ideas anybody ? I really want to downgrade so I will be able to install stock nougat, and flash an oreo custom ROM with magisk in order to get around the KNOX triger thing.

You can't flash U1 nougat on U2 oreo firmware. It has been all over xda that U2 firmwares has Version 2 bootloader which can't be downgraded to Version 1 bootloader of U1 firmwares. Nougat has many U2 firmwares, you simply need to search..

bluetooth start works but need switch off battery optimization
Hello everyone
I found it!!!
Problem with your bluetooh connection after upgrade can be solved in one of the way follow previous post or "disable battery optimization.
I try before swichng off and on all networks, emergency mode etc. and nothing happen.
Disable battery optimization
Sometimes battery optimization also messes up with Bluetooth connections. I suggest you check battery optimization settings and remove Bluetooth from it. To do so, follow the steps:
Open device Settings and go to Battery. There is few ways to go there:
first can be: open settings go to "device maintenance">>>clik on "battery">>>clik on "batterry usage">>>clik on 3 dots right top corner>>>then clik "optimise battery usage">>> and u are there - swich off “Bluetooth MIDI service” and apps that you use with Bluetooth such as Play Music, Phone, youtube, maps etc.
2nd
open settings Tap the 3-dot menu present at the top right corner and select “Battery Optimization”.
Turn off Battery Optimization for “Bluetooth MIDI service” and the apps that you use with Bluetooth such as Play Music, Phone, youtube, maps etc.
