Bootloop and red light on recovery - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have a nexus 4 that is stuck on opening animation and won't go to fastboot\recovery.
(a weight fell on it a long time ago. Worked for the next 3 days then died.)
Situation now is that it is stuck on the opening animation (lollipop) when turned on.
When trying to go to fastboot using volume up+down+power I get a blinking red light (volume up\down only with power button only resets the device or turns it off.)
Computer recognizes the device and I can see it in ADB devices while stuck on opening animation, but it says "unauthorized" so I can't use "adb reboot recovery" command.
Trying to press up+down+power while connected to computer gives solid red light and repetitive "device connected" sound from the computer every 1 sec.
Phone was never rooted or flashed in any way.
Any idea what I can do? I don't mind restoring factory image or factory reset.
Thanks to anyone who tries to help in advance

My N7 ran out of power and now loops the Google Screen over and over...

My N7 ran out of power and shut off. I immediately put it on the charger and it turned on for a minute (without me turning it on) and then powered off again. After that it booted to the White "Google" screen and continues to reboot into this screen.
I can get into fastboot (holding power and the volume down) where I have options to Power off, restart bootloader, recovery mode (which shows me the red triangle and says "no command"), or start.
I am not rooted and the bootloader is still locked.
I'm good at following directions and have tried what I thought were solutions but nothing seems to be working... or perhaps I am just retarded (no offense to people who are actually retarded) I think I have installed the correct drivers but I still can't get the cmd prompt screen to show my device when I type adb devices
How do I fix this? I don't want to send it back and deal with that hassle!
Thanks in advance and I apologize up front for what is probably a simple fix but I couldn't find any other posts with a solution that has worked for me.

In boot loader you use fast boot commands. Type "fastboot devices". If listed type "fastboot reboot". If its still stuck in loop try and taking back cover off and disconnecting battery for a few seconds, reassemble and power on.

Thanks. The battery pull didn't work however your tip on typing fastboot instead of adb worked and it recognized my device. Consequently I was able to flash the stock image and start over with setup and etc.. which sucks but it's better than sending it back in and all that mess.
Thanks!

[Q] stuck after installing 5.0.1 factory image

Update: I was able to get it recognized via fastboot and used NRT to flash back to stock under the bootloop option.
Now rooted with factory 5.0.1 !
The way I got it to recognize the tablet was to press the middle part of the volume switch (effectively pressing up AND down volume) and the power button and then the bootloader loaded and I could use fastboot but not adb. I read in another thread about pressing the middle of the sound button. Never heard of that before.
Hopefully someone can help me out.
i updated via abd using the flash all script. Now when it boots up it's stuck on the logo of flying color dots. (yes, I waited 15-20 min at least)
Anyway, now I can boot into fastbboot mode but the computer doesn't recognize it.
If I try to boot into recovery (which I think got corrupted) then I just get the android icon with a red exclamation point.
I have no way to clean anything up cause I can't communicate with it.
Edit: I'm stuck in a boot loop also. If I just let it boot it stays on the logo forever. When I try to turn it off it just reboots to the logo.
If I use the keys to boot to fastboot it just sits there and now I can't even change the option at that point and there's no way to completely shut it down!
Thanks for any assistance you might have.
Pressing both volume buttons and the power button will get you into fastboot mode. It's always the last fallback position and I've never known it to fail. I had the same with a bad flash on Tuesday when trying to solve my wifi problems.
Glad you got it sorted
Thanks.
I was getting to the bootloader screen but couldn't get the PC to see it. I always used to use power/vol down combo to boot into bootloader and didn't even know u could press both vol up and down at the same time.
Or maybe I'm imagining it all.

306SH logo screen freeze on boot

Hi all,
I have just recently rooted my 306SH, the rooting process was fine. The problem started when I flashed an incompatible twrp image. Now I can't boot into anything it seems, no recovery, no fastboot and the power button will show only the logo screen. If connected to a power source the red led light will stay on even if unplugged. The device can be completely shut down and the red light off if I hold the down+volume and power down for few seconds.
I can connect it to my computer via usb by holding up+volume and power (green led light) . I installed google usb driver onto the android device and it stays connected for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. I tried using command prompt and SDK by typing "adb reboot recovery" but get an error message "error: device '(null)' not found.
Things I have installed on my computer:
(ADB, fast boot and drivers) https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48915118#post48915118
SDK Platform-tools
306SH:
Google USB driver
Is there anything I can do from my computer? I was thinking maybe I can flash in an image to replace it. And also my sim card pops out and can't be set back in, is this due to the incorrect flashing?
Any help or input is greatly appreciated, I've been working on this for a while and is getting no where.

Samsung galaxy s8 (tmobile) stuck in bootloader / odin mode

Hello. I was in the boot menu whilst using my Samsung Galaxy S8 (I was just looking around) and entered the bootloader.
I see a blue screen with a down arrow which says "Downloading... Do not turn off target"
The phone will not receive any input and I cannot turn it off.
I have tried to use fastboot reboot to reboot the device, but the device isn't being detected (In the device manager it says "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Failed)").
I'm sure if the device dies it will boot properly, however I would not like to wait that long. Any help would be helpful, thanks.
just long press the power button (for 15 seconds or so). It will restart.
I have tried this already, a restart has not happened. To make sure, I tried it again and timed it for 25 seconds, the device did not power down.
Try holding both power and volume down.
That worked, thanks.
I've never had a device which required that combination. Perhaps I should have tried it first before posting, regardless, you have been a big help.

Fix device without recovery mode

Hello dear xda community
I have a px6 device from the company "Wondefoo" installed in my Mazda (without any hard buttons). It worked so far so good, but ZLink (Apple Carplay) didn't work, so I tried to fix this. To do that, I rooted the device, uninstalled the "ZLink" app and reinstalled a newer version. Then I tried to reboot. And then my problems started:
The device doesn't boot anymore. It tries to start up, I can see the Android 10 boot logo ("multi-media on-vehicle Navigation System" screen), but after about one minute, this logo disappears and the screen remains black.
OK, easy fix --> Just go into recovery mode and reset the device. But here's the big problem: I can't get into recovery mode.
Here's what I tried:
1. Ignition off and on --> Screen still black
2. Press "Reset" button (my device only has this one physical button) --> Boot process started again, but same outcome
3. Unmount the device, plug the power out, wait an hour, plug it in again and try again --> Boot process started again, but same outcome
4. Tried to connect with adb over Wi-Fi to the device (used the last known IP address) --> Connection timeout, Wi-Fi probably not started yet
5. Press&Hold "Reset" button until lights beign to flash to get into recovery mode --> Lights never flash because the "Reset" button somehow breaks the power circuit and when I release it, the device gets power again and boot process starts again with same outcome
6. Press&Hold "Reset" button for a minute, then release it, then press it again quickly within 1sec --> Boot process started again, same outcome
7. Tab with 5 fingers on the boot logo --> Nothing happened
8. Attached keyboard and pressed "Alt" + "PrintScreen" + "I" all the time --> Nothing happens. Keyboard is with RGB LEDs, so I saw it was active when the boot logo was displayed... Then, the LEDs on my keyboard turned off which was telling me that there is no keyboard input possible anymore
9. I even tried this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/new-method-enter-recovery-no-physical-buttons.4013453/ --> I just have one similar cable, not two as described in this post... So I put everything together again and just tried again --> Boot process started again, same outcome
Well... Is there any option left? I'm thinking about buying a USB male-to-male cable and try again with adb, but everyone tells me that I need to get into recovery mode first which I really can't
* Is there any other way to get into recovery mode? Maybe with my keyboard?
* Does anyone have another idea what I could try? Maybe without recovery mode?
Thanks in advance and cheers
T
As you said:
1. Ignition off and on
2.Have ready the needle for reset and do that instantly as you see the boot logo.
Once device restarted, wait until will see the boot logo again and pull out the ignition key.
3. Put in an USB socket a pen drive with the right firmware
4. Put back the ignition key and let it in ON position, without starting the engine. The update process will start, have a bit of patience until will finish. The device will restart at the end of the update, and straight after the boot logo, shortly press the reset button.
With a bit of luck, will have a fresh firmware on your device.
Thanks for your quick answer.
I tried what you said several times, but unfortunately I always end up on the black screen, no matter what I try.
My usb stick flashes quickly during the boot process, but nothing happens with it.
I also tried with an USB male-to-male cable and connect via adb, but it won‘t connect...

Are you sure you are holding the reset button for long enough?
On my machine (Dasaita) you hold the reset and the machine turns off... but you have to keep holding it even after it has turned off. Could be upwards of 1.5 minutes. Once the lights flash (and finished flashing), release and press one more time within 3 seconds.
Thank you for this idea. I have tried 30 seconds, but no more until today...
Now I tried with 1min, 2mins, even 3mins, but nothing happens.. I think the power is immediately cut as soon as I press the reset button. So there is probably no way to fix this easily
I also contacted the seller, but they have a talent to not understand my question. I just get answers like "press the reset button 2 sec and then everything is fixed" or "plug in the USB drive with the new ROM and press update" - of course that doesn't help.
Well I guess I'm left with one last thing: Throw this device away and buy a new one. Not from Wondefoo anymore of course, and hopefully with a working reset button.
I have the same issue. What did you end up doing?
Where did you buy your unit from?
