I thought I would share this with the XDA Kindle Fire Community as well.
I've had my Amazon Kindle Fire for a while now, and I've decided it was time to see what kind of modifications I can load onto it. Since I have a Google Nexus 7 on its way, I imagine that a Kindle Fire loaded up with Jelly Bean might make for a decent comparison tablet.
In part 1, I started off by rooting my Kindle Fire and installing the Google market, or Play Store on it using the Kindle Fire Utility.
In part 2, I take it a step further by installing Teamwin's TWRP Recovery, and then using it to install Energy's CM9 ROM.
And finally, in part 3, I go for the gusto and load up Hashcode's Jelly Bean ROM. Very slick.
Overall, I am impressed with the Jelly Bean performance on the Kindle Fire, and I look forward to seeing it battle against my Google Nexus 7... once it gets here.

Now it has been announced that the new Kindle Fire will play streaming content from LOVEFiLM, what do you think are the chances that they will release an app in general for Android, or that some clever soul will be able to extract the app and release it for us? Would love to access the content on my SGS3.
Lovefilm are saying it isn't coming to general Android before the Kindle launch or at the Kindle launch.

I'm not sure of cross-compatible the app will be.
I am worried about updating the firmware on my device because I don't want to lose root.
I would like to get the Alexa app functioning like the new HD 8 I purchased for someone. I believe I have to update to 5.4 for this though and I don't know if it's worth the risk.
Any ideas?
I am thinking about replacing an old tablet with an Amazon Fire HD 10, but I am a little confused about the Fire OS, and the tablet not having Google Play. How does Fire OS relate to the family of Android OS's? Does the Fire OS update as often or keep pace with the Android OS's?
I use Google Play for all my apps, how would I get Google Play and the other Google apps on an Amazon Fire HD 10? Does the Amazon Fire HD 10 need to be rooted to get the Google apps on the tablet? Do Google apps run well on an Amazon Fire 10?

Nope, all Google apps run well without root. But, obviously to get it like normal Android, you would need root. Also, the Fire OS does NOT keep pace at all. It is 5.1.1, and still hadn't got 2018 security patches. Got to go now, will explain more later.

I would suggest it 100%. Unless you are in a rush to replace your older tablet, though, I'd just keep my eyes peeled for a sale since they have come down to a $100 a couple of times- but you have to act fast when they do cuz they don't stay around long. I actually prefer it to my Samsung Tablet. Getting the Google Play Store on it is easy and it's fairly simple to root and disable some of the bloatware, though it's not necessary. With Launcher Hijack you can get your preferred Android layout if the Fire Launcher isn't jiving with you (it doesn't with most)

Amazon update seems to have made it through the Fire Toolbox. Any any ideas? I'm running a Fire HD 8 10th gen. 7.3.2.7 it won't let the Google Play app work
