[HELP] Going to Flash firmware - P8lite Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey Guys, Recently i installed viper4arise on my Huawei P8 Lite 2017 using TWRP and theres an error, Music is OKAY except phones default sounds. Like Notification Sounds,Ringtones, Etc.
So i think the best solution is to have a fresh ROM again,
Wondering if i was able to install a new ROM without affecting it. Because my system for now was not fresh (ROOTED,BUSYBOX)
To make it clear. (Sorry for my english)
I am worried if the ROM that i was going to install will be effected of my current ROM? Because its Rooted, Busybox installed, And have a SOUND issue.
Thanks in advance ?

okay sir I'll try it

One can never predict this to 100%. With a user it works. With other not.
I have from the Debranding no knowledge.

Sad to say but it won't work. I think its not the audio file. its from the Viper4arise drivers thats not compatible for me. Sad to say Viper4Arise dont have a flashable uninstaller.

my current phone is rooted, busybox installed. do i need to uninstall those first. before flashing stock ROM?

the viper4arise drivers was installed on system/lib folder.
can i copy the lib folder from my stock rom?

You must uninstall nothing. Updates ignore this.
Only the stock recovery is necessary.
Try first a factoryreset from stock recovery.

do you think sir. flashing using system upgrades can fix this issue? or the viper drivers will deleted. or Its just stick on my system ?

I think the drivers are not the reason, but not complete firmware. Making the update.

do you think i was able to install full firmware via system upgrade again? my current build number was B123 and the firmware that is only available on PRA LX2 was B123.
I was able to flash B123 before, when my build number was B160

This becomes nothing. You can get full firmware only as OTA update/ upgrade. Differently it goes only like in mine rootthread is described.

You already installed it? Once you install it, the file is erased - forever. All OTAs are this way. You MUST extract it before you install it.
Confirm: Did you install it or not? Also, if not - has it downloaded completely?
EDIT: I'll take your lack of response as you confirming that you did install it...

Yes, un-root, and remove all traces of having rooted. That includes any changes done to your System Files which Xposed might have done. You will have to flash the stock recovery too.

No, my lack of response was because of the reading I was doing here on XDA as why I wasn't seeing the OTA zip file under cache. Then I realized that I did not download the OTA, I thought that it was downloaded already as I had data on and it was just asking me to whether it should install or not.
Now I downloaded the OTA, and it's there under cache folder, and now at a safe place on my desktop.
I would never install it on my phone without flashing back stock ROM again anyway. I like to do things fresh.

Thanks. It's always nice to have the latest of Android. The new dialer is meaningless for me, again, it just changed it's viewing type, nothing else has been changed! Need to install ExDialer as usual. Will see if there's really something done with the camera, can't take any meaningful photos at 3:30 in the morning
Just one thing, as I have taken the OTA after a fresh install of stock ROM, now I don't need to format it again from recovery right?
There is already a thread for the 4.4.4 rollout here, please use it instead of having two similar discussions going on in 2 separate threads. Thanks

How to restore IMEI number on a official rom?

okay now I am starting to get lost and the guide for ''fixing your IMEI number'' caused my phone to soft-brick once again so it didn't really help
and yes I used the most recent SuperSU (stable) version V2.78 (I hope that is a correct version)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/steps-how-to-recover-bad-imei-t3171452
my baseband gives a I think correct version but my IMEI number still is ''0''
Please!, can anyone tell me how to restore my IMEI number?
Also my phone uses tries to use LTE connection like I have U.S. drivers (I don't know if it makes a difference since I am pretty much noob)
I find that just wierd.. sorry to bother you guys with all this, I just want my phone to be fixed

EXACTLY!!! follow these instructions step by step. Take a look how many sparsechunk files are in the image that you download and proceed as advised. Take care to choose the right image for your device, also about country and so.

As far as I remember that happened to me when I tried to relock the bootloader at that moment. Did it work anyway? I mean, did it reboot? Which image did you choose? 5.1 or 6.x? Probably start with 5.1 as this was the original image for the device and later let it update via OTA. Be sure still to grab the appropriate image.

According to the Motorola official developer forums I am not ALLOWED to install a android 5.X image when I last ran a 6.X android system. as the result could be that I could Hard brick my device
also some further info:
I think in the past when I tried to install the official stock rom. I accidentally removed/erased the EFS file. or some file that holds my IMEI information.
and now I practically have to re-write it (since.. well you can't just create a IMEI ID or Can I?). but it seems impossible if I look at it.
but I do have the original box with the original IMEI number.

Idk about su2.78... I have always used su2.62-3 ..it worked on lollipop and it works on MM.
What is the need of updating SU app, all it does is give 'root' permissions.

okay, because you have more experience rooting I am gonna ask you just to be sure.
correct me if i'm wrong:
first I have to flash twrp thingy
next I have to reboot android and copy SuperSU into my storage
then I have to reboot in fastboot and boot into twrp
in twrp I have to flash/install SuperSU into the system.
and.. that's it. so superSU practically roots my device?
oh and from what i've heard/seen I will not be able to update anymore? because when I installed/flash superSU I saw in the log:
''disabling OTA update survival'' or something like that

OTA storage location?

Does anybody know where the OTA file is being saved in our phone?
I'm downloading the file now but I won't be installing it yet until I put back my stock recovery.
Nevermind. I already found the location. If anyone wants to know, it can be found in data/data/com.zte.zdm/files
Can you confirm the location. I am on 7.1.1 and trying to save the latest OTA (on A2017G). Under /data, I only have a mail directory and nothing else.

yes, you can still receive and download the OTA like I how figured out the location.
However, you can't update using the downloaded OTA file unless you revert your boot and recovery partitions to stock.

OK, finally got it. Thank you so much.

Don't seem to have root and want to go back to stock kernel.

Im on L21 B336 Nougat and I wanted to try viper4android and magisk but now when I have installed ELITE Kernel, everything works except root. SELinuxModeChanger nor Magisk are recognizing root and worst of all, I can't uninstall apps anymore, trying to uninstall anything gives me a UI crash. Is there any way I can roll back to stock b336 kernel or potentially fix my problems?
Many thanks.
If you want to roll back to stock kernel, download again the update, extract from the update.app the BOOT.IMG with Huawei update extractor, then flash in in fastboot

You have twrp. Flash any available custom rom or modify the Updater script in stock rom and flash it via twrp.
Go to this thread for instructions regarding editing the updater script.
