HDR Video. - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Someone can confirm when HDR videos are palying is there any HDR logo are shown on the video player or any extra settings available on the notification panel just like the lg demo dolby vision video?
I download all the videos from this thread.but i don't know am i seeing the real HDR effect or just the washed out color.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/how-to/hdr-videos-4k-hdr-videos-samsung-lg-t3623420

When I play the preloaded LG HDR video I get the dolby vision logo in the notification bar. I've not tried any other HDR videos yet though.

Ok that's good. Is there anything on screen showing that it's playing back in HDR?

I'd still take OLED of the s7 over the HDR LCD of my g6. HDR is almost useless unless viewed at night or in dimly lit room

Yes! Its got slow motion video :)

Just incase anyone was wondering it has a great slow motion video feature allowing you to film in 1/2 1/4 or 1/8 speed (I believe its actually recording in high speed and playing back in slow speed) but its smooth and decent quality and great fun to play with. It also has a fast motion setting.
Im sure you probably knew already but I just found the settings and was chuffed and thought id share it with ya.

The resolution for Slo-Mo and Fast mode is limited only to 720x480 resolution!

I can only imagine how that will look in slow motion, it already looks crazy on video. What equipment are you going to use? Maybe some 15" zv3 sundowns?

I guess it's understandable that the Slo-Mo is at a lower resolution (gotta sample more per second) but I don't understand the fast-mo being lower resolution... just take 1080p 30fps and then play it back at 30 fps while dropping every other frame...
I'll post mine when I'm allowed (after 5 more posts, I think)
Stay tuned.

New HDR Video.

I noticed many people (including myself) trying to figure out HDR video in the new MEA base. This thread is for that discussion. Hopefully someone will be able to give a clear answer on it and it will help everyone. So what magic must be done to enable HDR video? Is it on by default or is there some hidden setting?

thus far havent been able to do it with stock or ktoonsez kernels. how it works is pretty simple and should work ok, but should show some artifacting with heavy jello. basically it underexposes and overexposes every other scan line (not sure if it oversamples, averages, and combines from higher than 1080P res or just does so at regular 1080P resolution (most likely) in which case best quality would be found at 720P settings, as this would allow full blending.
What about faux123s new kernel? Interesting that we can't do it on the stock kernel.

i havent seen anyone find it yet; im interested to compare quality of 720P vs 1080P and see if my theory on transsampled scan lines is correct; its a dirty way to do it, but would work decently. HDR photo mode should work the same but it doesnt; instead any movement translates to blur (eg leaves, bugs, cars, etc).
Are you people stupid or just lazy? How bout going into the camera app hitting mode then scroll to HDR then hit the video button.

That only works for photo mode, which works totally different from video mode. i work in television and film; i took several sample clips in controlled lighting environments; photo mode does not alter video mode, in this update or 4.2.2 original, AOSP/CM, TW UCUAMDB/UCUAMDL or any kernels thus far.
watch who you call lazy and stupid; might come off a bit rude, to say the least.
Well according to this HDR video is included and there is only 1 HDR setting in the camera so unless there is another setting buried within the camera... That's it

I have both the galaxy s5 and the iPhone 5s. I would say the S5 has the edge on everything camera wise. I cant comment on the G3!
seems fine for me

Yea s5 camera is good and so is the g3 but the s5 slow mo is way better quality then the g3 that's for sure. I love my g3 but some things bother me about it, was going to get the s5 but I hate touchwiz.

anyone KNOW HOW TO SHARE SLOW MOTION VIDEO?
You cannot share cause is 120fps video, so is not playable on all devices.. If shared it will look like almost a normal video.. You can upload to a PC n edit the video (yes, this is silly) then share..
I made a slowmo video last week while shooting an can with an air gun.. Video was looking scrap, and was a very very sunny day here in brazil, so no lacking of luminosity..

Share HDR Content Here!

I wanted to create a place where we could all share HDR video content we find online, so post your YouTube links for any cool HDR videos you find!

Hdr doesn't work unless the app forces it on which only the Amazon app from Samsung can do for now so viewing these videos is useless until we find out how to force hdr on. If you don't believe me I can show you a logcat that shows the Amazon so forcing it on but not YouTube

Do we really need a topic just for this?

Why not? HDR Content is really scarce and it would be great to be able to take full advantage of our screens by helping each other out.

HDR is going to be a revolutionary thing in terms of TV image quality (at least on OLED displays). For smartphones though... it's cool that Samsung included the capability, but it's BARLEY a thing in the TV world. Smartphones aren't going to see anything meaningful with HDR for a long time. I tried watching an Amazon episode when I first got the phone (one that has HDR enabled on my LG OLED 4K TV) and nothing in particular let me know any type of HDR was enabled. Maybe it wasn't working yet... maybe it's not working at all. Either way, it's probably nothing but a gimmick. When it becomes mainstream and used on YouTube, that's when I'll care.

Raw audio in video

Hi, is there any way to record raw audio (uncompressed) while shooting a video? I'm currently using op5 cam and I don't think it has this feature.. If there is any modifications which will allow me or any other app for this purpose, kindly let me know.
Thanks

Haven't seen this anywhere. Thats why I'm asking, if anyone lowkey knew. Because its a pain to record raw audio in a voice recorder and then to sync it with the video in an editor
If you want more control, guess you gave to go to another phone. LG G6 and LG V30 have manual microphone control : gain, wind cut, etc. That's the closest I guess.
