Anyone tried to change the battery on their Remix tablet? - Remix Ultratablet General

I realize it isn't a user serviceable part. Mine is only lasting about 30 minutes now. I'm willing to try. I've done some phones and such.

Did you ever try this?

Nope, sorry. Couldn't find any tear down info so I chickened out. Don't want to break it. Gave it to my nephew. He just uses it plugged in.

I know this is an old post, but what battery did you replace it with.
I can't seem to find a part number or anything.

I removed the battery and looked up the part number PLA8100-01-00-1 . This is the only option that I have found. I understand I'm operating on the edge of what people have done to keep the device going, but I figured I would has: has anyone used it ? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...exp_id=f37b5ad6-e782-4c84-933d-c1e7b10ed0db-0

It also appeared on T-Mobile's site, http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm30234.pdf.
Websites that speak about it say that it looks rather unprofessional, and the UI is unconsistent. Can't say that I noticed that, maybe I'm not that much of a "professional" as them. It certainly is a fun interface, though. And those big buttons simply mean it's designed to be used with fingers, not with a stylus (which the G1 doesn't even have).
And I must say it's the first user manual with little jokes for example:
Use only batteries and accesories from the original manufacturer of your phone. Hint: if it's being sold out of someone's trunk, walk away.
or
Water will damage your phone and accesories - even as a small amount such as water droplets from a soda in your car cup-holder, melting snowflakes, tears of joy, squirt-gun crossfire or steam from hot water in the kitchen or bathroom.

It has a capacitive touch screen like the iPhone, a stylus won't work with it, has to be done with your finger. Even fingernails are a no-go, so if they don't make the buttons big enough the device is very hard to navigate.

I've noticed that the UK version is different. If anyone is interested, I've uploaded it to RapidShare (says it will be available for download only 10 times) and ZippyShare (should be available forever as long as it gets downloaded at least once a month).
I can't check if getting started PDFs are different as the US version does not load for me. I guess they are different, so I might upload UK version too tonight.

Donate My Crushed G1

Please be kind to me as this is my first post on XDA although I have been reading and utilizing these forums for quite some time. If this question has already been addressed, please let me know. I have already searched the forum and was unable to find anything on the subject but perhaps I wasn't as diligent as I could have been.
I left my G1 on the roof of my car and it fell off and was run over by a car. I already ordered a new one which will arrive in two days (I do nightly nandroid backups so all is well in that department). I would, however, like to donate the crushed G1 to one of the developers on this site so that they can salvage it for parts. Believe it or not, I was actually able to boot to the recovery screen and do a wipe (Alt-W). Obviously I could not see this as the screen is crushed but it rebooted after I hit Back+Home so I am pretty certain that there are some valuable working parts for someone who knows what they are doing.
I have taken advantage of the ROMs on this forum for awhile (Kavana's WinMo 6.1) as well as How-To posts (Apps2SD, Rooting G1, Nandroid, MAM, etc.) and countless other posts to keep my phone in perfect working order, and would like to give at least a little back to the hard working developers here. I would like a moderator to assist me in getting the phone into the hands of the right developer. I am sure it has some value to someone. I am pretty certain that the motherboard is in working condition as well as the keyboard and various other parts (it still vibrates on boot). I don't know much about hardware as I am largely a developer and a user. I don't want to take it apart only to find out that I have ruined what was once a good part. Ebay was an option but I figure that I will actually get more value out of donating it since XDA is literally my lifeline and smartphones would just plain suck without this site.
Please reference the attached photos. Sorry they are not so great. They were taken on my Dash because I was too lazy to take out my good camera.
Post replies here and we can go from there.
Thanks,
Aaron

I believe you should donate it to one of the members working on finding the jtag pins so the people who were effected by the spl brick might have a second chance
Amazon sells them as well for about $7 + $3 for shipping.. OEM, safe..never had issues..
I am keeping the battery which still works. Now I have three! The battery door is crushed too. My goal is for the phone to better not just one person in need of parts but the community in general. If a developer can use this to help out the rest of us it will have been worth it. Like I have stated, I am not sure what use it will be but I am sure that someone out there can utilize it for the benefit of the rest of us.

A battery from HTC directly (after they first tried to deny my warranty status) is 37, shipping included.
As for a crushed device, I should try to find one in that condition since emulator will not run on my laptop. More or less the process goes make a program or update, open my sd card, load it, try it, improve it on the computer, delete the sd card copy, move the new one... very agravating.
Not to mention if you plug the device into the computer right, you can load your device AS the emulator (but I don't really want to do that to my "daily driver")
I would like to suggest a moment of silence to honor your G1.

Glitches with the transformer on 3.2

I just bought the transformer on Wednesday, and updated to 3.2 as soon as the battery was full enough to do so. I noticed that in the music app, sometimes when i clicked on one song, it would actually play a different one than what i chose. Also, yesterday when i clicked on the music app, thw mynet app opened instead. I went back to the home screem and tried again, but it still opened the wrong app. I force stopped the mynet app and tried again, but withis time it opened a game that i had installed.
I want to use this tablet for school starting on Tuesday, but I can't do that if it's not going to be reliable.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to see this work for the upcoming schoolyear.
I need to figure this out right away, so I can return it to the store if it's not going to work for me.
Oh, also, could somebody leae point me to the asus dock test. I can't seem to find it, and I am not ure if my b60 dock passes.
As I was using my tablet just now, I had the launcher crash on me, and everything was running very slowly. I had to restart my device to get it to cooperate.
So far, this tablet has not been meeting my expectations, or living up to the good things others have said of it. Are these kind of errors new to the 3.2 update? Can I expect them to be fixed soon Or should I return this tablet before it is too late?

You should buy an ipad. I'm sure there are 10 million more threads on ipad stuff than android tablet stuff. There, you will be much happier telling people to use the search function all day long.

You have a defective product. If factory reset doesn't fix these problems, you should exchange it for another one.
My transformer does not behave like what you describe at all. It is probably the only android tablet that could compete face on with the ipad 2. Don't let a defective product deter you.
That or you can just go and get an ipad. Apple's already got an army of whiners. If you don't want to help yourself, you should join them.

AHH burn the heathen, how dare you even utter that i crap name on xda, burrrrn. haha, naa mate just kidding, but actually owning an ipad 2 and a transformer pad myself, i think its much of a muchness as to the amount of problems they have, with only difference being about $400 in price :/ oh, and this isnt a one off thing because im on my second ipad 2 now. first one got stolen out of my car :/ anyway, getting side tracked, i had (and still very rarley do) similar problems to you, but after flashing i think the clemyses kernal or something to that effect my problems sorta dissapeared. i only put the kernal on to overclock and for the voodoo sound but im not sure how its helped, mine hardly ever crashes now. dunno, but just my 2 cents worth....

I had tried to search for the answer to this problem, but I guess I wasn't using the right search terms because I wasn't finding anything that was of any use. I also searched for the thread on the asus dock test, but I again could not find what I was looking for.
I was in a hurry to figure this out because I start school tomorrow, so I couldn't afford to not find the information I was looking for. I'm sorry if posting this thread bothered you, but that is my reasoning behind it.

Don't worry about it, dude. Some people are anal about the search function. To them, if a newbie can only ask a question if he has spent about 4 hours with the search function.
I've played with the search function before. It really does not find what you try to look for at times.
It's less of a headache if you just ignore the people who are anal about the search. Simply telling people to do a search even though the topic can't be found in search is downright rude. I say this as someone who created a whole website to help dummies with the g-tablet. And take a look at my thanks points.
Simply telling people to do a search is non-productive.

1. Root your tablet.
2. Install Titanium Backup free from Market.
3. Backup all your data using it.
4. Wipe everything (from CWM, or do a factory reset).
5. Flash some good custom ROM (and by good custom rom, I mean Prime).
6. If you're paranoid, wipe everything again after flashing.
7. Restore your apps using Titanium Backup again (only user apps, don't touch system apps).
8. Enjoy running a polished custom ROM with additional goods support with an overclocked kernel happily.
I'm in no way a supporter of full wipe, but if you have weird bugs you're unable to resolve, wiping is often the only way to go. As for the custom rom, running unrooted stock is like knowingly having your Ferrari hardcapped to 80 miles per hour max.
The newer transformers have a locked boot loader. But if you can I would definitely root... My tablet is a beast I can't get this thing to crash out or stutter if I want it to... My buddy just bought his on Friday says it performs perfectly, but no root, factory reset, don't work, return it....

Definitely not working for any company, and I have developed many Android ROMs and never had this problem. I've been here since 2005, for crying out loud. This is my first Samsung ROM, so I admit to being new there. I will even accept your "stupid idiot" comment, as I guess I deserve it. Although, I wonder why 150 people have downloaded it and only two or three people that I can see have been bricked. Something must connect those with issues. We need to find what it is.
Also, I am happy to pay for the de-bricking of those who are legitimately bricked i.e., followed instructions, have a receipt from JTAG, or whatever it is). Just PM me.

Absolutely. I understand. I have gotten into many messes since i started developing, and know that panic. I just need to know everything you.and the other user who had this problem can tell e about your device so i can find out what the common denominator is. So, confirm it is the wifi and 3g version you are using, and what build you are coming from, if you would. Are you using a sim card? Have you tried pressing power and volume up for a while? Thanks. Also, does your tablet feel hot at all?

any external way to use it throw usb slot while charging ?
I would try pulling the battery but have no idea how to get the case off.
Steve, just wondering out loud whether those who have the hard-brick issue be because there are on pre-production hardware, so they have a slightly different hardware SKU. Hence your ROM does not work for them.

That seems to be the case for one of them. I am not positive about the others. I am having a hard time getting people to just tell me what build they were using prior to the flash...There seem to be 3 people who have had this porblem, and there must be something linking them, although it may be something random. Need to figure it out.

I came from P6800ZSKL2. Dont know if it was from the very first production line, but judging by the quality (i bought three, all with crap displays) they probably were.
Also, i believe the device is on and trying to unpack something because it is indeed warm.
This of course means that there may be hope of getting into download or recovery yet... i will drain it for 34 hours and then attempt to turn it back on.

Please see sk806 original thread- we have been "discussing" why you might be having "problems".

BTW, his "suggestion" was "incorrect." Still not sure what's up. Will keep posted, and like I said, I'll work something out with JTAG for those who got bricked yesterday and posted about in in the original thread before I responded.
Steve
For the record hard bricks on the Exynos 4210 will occur generally in one of 3 ways:
1) Mis-matched boot.bin and sbl.bin
2) Incompatible boot.bin and sbl.bin combo
3) Invalid PIT file flash from an earlier generation TAB or Galaxy S device
Anything else causing a black screen is simply hardware failure.

GPS Not Locking - Tech support just updated the software, still not working

Hello,
I got an LG Spirit sometime ago and apart from the first few days I've had it the GPS hasn't been able to lock to any satellites.
I took the phone to the tech support centre and described the problem. A couple of days later they returned the equipment and on the repair sheet it said they only did a software update and that the GPS was working perfectly.
Now my phone has a "V10s-268-03" version which prompts an error everytime I boot it saying that I shouldn't even have that version, that the software version isn't available for regular users.
Which would be fine but apart from that now everytime I do a factory reset on the phone it automatically installs maybe 30 bloatware apps through Software Update and the GPS is still as faulty as ever.
What should I do now? Take it back to the support centre, try to install another stock rom?
Is there an LG built-in test tool that I can use to troubleshoot the GPS problem? I remember my old LG P500 had one.
Thanks!
Back to the place of purchase / service center and demand a new device, in writing - since the purchased one has serious hardware issues. Don't know about the consumer protection laws where you're from... but that usually works.
EDIT: Or reflash a rootable firmware with the LG Flash Tool.
I had to return my device to service center twice before they really fixed GPS.
It's not a software related problem (tried factory resets, firmware updates, apps ..), so keep on complaining until they fix it!
Now I get many satellites within seconds, signal doesn't get lost, it even works inside my house.
The problem lies in GPS antenna contacts. They are weak on certain manufactured series of phones. To fix it, you have to remove the GPS antenna and bend the legs of the contacts to make a proper connection. But that's best left to service center, since the phones are still under warranty.
Glad you got it sorted.

Can you make theard or video fixing antenna??
How? By opening my fully functional phone just to show you how to fix something that is not broken ( on my phone )?
Check out a disassembly video on Youtube, grab a screwdriver and a plastic guitar pick and go to town
On a more serious note... If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. And you don't seem to know what you're doing. No offense. It's a vibe, you know. Same one as when you see a garbage can. You know it's going to smell if you jam your nose into it. Same thing here. Just trying to save you from yourself.

I already did that because I add thermal paste,I don't know where anntenas are
That paste thing is the most laughs I got from this forum in a long time. If you added the paste, you would KNOW where the antenna is.
But, really, man... There are some legs you need not pull.
And my last question, for ****s and giggles... where are the pics or a video of your little project? I have to see that.

So, any chance we'll see that thermal paste masterpiece of yours, or shall you leave us hanging?

Maybe when I get some time.
So, that means never I doubt you're so busy that you don't have a half an hour in your day to quickly open the phone up, snap a couple of photos and upload them.
Excuse me for not believing, but hey... this is the internet. Everyone has a right to form an opinion, call someone out, ask for proof and whatnot.
So, I'm waiting. Thank you and have a nice day.
