Sending MMS SMS on ZTE axon 7 - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I recently purchased an axon 7. Everything works perfect except my ability to send MMS and SMS messages. I am on a regional carrier named cellcom out of Wisconsin. They are CDMA and share 4g towers with Verizon. I have tried several messaging apps and none have worked. I have no problem receiving MMS and SMS messages just can not send them. Any advice would be great!

Try manually adding in your carrier's APN settings.

Manually enter apn
I copies the APN settings from another phone on my plan and that's when I was able to start receiving MMS but when I try to send it just says service not activated on network

Talk to CellCom about it - a lot of people have been having problems getting the CDMA services to work on this phone. I would only recommend this phone for GSM service

Cellcom gave me the old if we don't sell the phone it won't work on our network. Everything works perfect except sending MMS. Honestly I can live without it if I have too.

hi,just wandering if it's A2017U or A2017G?

Try a different app. I recommend trying Textra.
I know on B18 or whatever came on the phone originally had issues. Supposedly they fixed their messaging app later on B20 but i haven't used since i bought the phone. Have it disabled.

I'm using Go SMS pro with no issues at all.

I'm having a similar issue on T-Mobile using Chomp SMS but only with MMS

I had the same issues with AT&T. I solved the issue by using Textra and changing this option.....
Settings > MMS > MMS Behavior = System
If that is the option you have set, change it to Legacy.
Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem - I contacted ZTE France who advised me on (new) APN settings and to ensure that Hangouts wasn't my default messaging app.
I updated the APN and switch away from Hangouts and can now send & receive MMS messages.
I then went back to Hangouts - and no longer able to send ... so the APN might have been a red herring (I didn't compare old to new settings - just deleted the old) ... and it was Hangouts all along.

[Q] No Mms from Iphones only

OK guys I have the n4 on T-Mobile and I can not receive MMS from iphones only. I can get SMS from iPhone. I can get MMS from any other phone. I've tried iPhones from 3 carriers and I can't receive MMS from any of them. I have changed my APN settings several times to match others configurations but nothing has worked. I have created a new apn etc...I have tried go SMS,hand cent, and chomp.I know I cannot be alone on this matter ,I just don't think many people have realized it yet. Any help is much appreciated.

I have AT&T and my partner has an iPhone 4S and I can get MMS from her. So it is possible, to get it to work. Are you using Google Voice? if so this maybe the issue. In Google Voice set it so text messages are received via the messaging app. Or disable Google Voice entirely and see if that fixes it.
What plan on you on with tmobile? Pre-paid or monthly? And what APN settings have you tried? Check this out:
http://johnlieske.com/2012/11/21/some-t-mobile-nexus-4-tweaks/
I uninstalled Google voice completely and still a no go. I'm on the prepaid unlimited plan with 5gb of data (70$)..I've tried those settings you referred me to but for some reason little baby phone doesn't play nicely with the n4.
I am also on T-Mobile and I cannot receive MMS from iPhone users. Any other phone works just fine.

I'm pretty sure I had the same issue, and I'm also on T mobile, what I had to do was turn auto retrieve MMS off, in the stock messaging apps settings, as well as make sure APN was set to those shown in attached picture

Success, That did it for me...I think unchecking the auto retrieve maybe what's behind it . I've tried the other settings before without unchecking the auto retrieve and it didn't work . But nevertheless thanks a lot

Unable to send mms in any app on Koodo(canada)

Hey everyone.
For weeks now I have been having an issue with sending mms to anyone, nor can I receive. Im on the Koodo network here in Canada. I have made sure that my apn settings were correct. I mainly use GoSMS and when I select the image, type a message and hit send it just disappears. No sending arrow icon not even the picture itself.
I have also tried in the stock messaging app. But when try the same task, it actually crashes. My gf has a nexus 5 and she is on the Bell network and having the same issues.
Im not really sure what steps to take next. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Try Sliding Messages. It allows you to set APN in the app.

Yes so does gosms. Not sure apn is the issue as it seems like it can't even attempt to send.

Having a problem with receiving picture/MMS messages

I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere as I have tried to look.
I recently received my nexus 6p and prior to that i had a Note 4. I needed a nano sim card so I went to verizon and they gave me a nano sim and activated it in my nexus 6p (surprisingly for free). Ever since I made the switch i have received horrible MMS picture quality. Images are coming in anywhere from 16kb-52kb and are very blurry. I contacted Google who wasn't sure how or what the issue was. Then i contacted verizon who i figured were the real culprits (maybe confused because they don't support 6p and images coming in at lowest size possible?). My brother has the 5x and was able to directly swap his sim card from his galaxy s6 and does not have this issue at all. I have no idea where to turn
tl;dr - since switching to nexus 6p on verizon, i am receiving horrible quality picture messages
is anyone else even having this problem? and did you switch from a micro to nano usb that was activated by verizon?

Hi, did you check your APN settings? I don't have Verizon (T-Mobile) so I'm not sure what it needs to be set to but I'm sure you can Google the settings. If all fails, you can try to just reset the APN to see if that fixes your issue. Good luck.

I got this email from textra as a solution, havene't bee nable to try it yet
If MMS is not working then follow these instructions to locate the issue:
a) Firstly check in Textra > Settings > MMS Settings if you have a 'Manually Configure APN' setting, ensure it's NOT ticked. This means Textra was able to ascertain your APN settings correctly from your existing device settings, so 99% likely these are correct.
b) If you don't have this (Manually Configure APN) setting, locate the details as below and enter them into Textra.
* contact your carrier and request the correct MMS APN settings for your device; or
* check in Settings App > (More...) > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names (MMS)
c) Some carriers only support a 'Send Size Limit' of 300KB (Textra > Settings > MMS Settings). So first set the size to 300KB to see if that helps when sending.
Once you have checked these details, please send yourself a test MMS.
If still an issue, please send us a screenshot of the Textra > Settings > MMS Settings page along with what happened when you sent yourself a test MMS as instructed above.
P.S One other thing, if you can send MMS perfectly but keep getting the 'Check APN...' notification when receiving an MMS then it's certainly another SMS app (even if not the default one!) interfering, uninstall it, clear the notification and test by sending yourself an MMS. Check in the stock app to ensure MMS > Auto-Retrieve is OFF
PPS Any ad blocking app or VPN app can interfere with MMS, for example Adaway, AdBlock Plus, NoRoot Firewall.
Thanks heaps.
We will sort it for you!

This thread has been a lifesaver for me! First of all my issue is slightly different but worth posting. Since root I have been unable to send MMS, SMS have been fine. They get stuck on sending and it was locking up my entire messaging app. This was the same using default and hangouts. I verified APN settings, set chrome to default browser app.... nothing worked.
The posted email about the ad blocker messing up messaging apps was what fixed this for me. I stopped Adblock Plus from running automatically on boot and my MMS instantly started working again. If you have any sort of ad blocking apps try disabling them to see if it helps.
So happy this fixed for me I was thinking I was going to have to do a clean flash.
I was having the same problem. I am running AdAway and it that is not blocking MMS. Adblock plus was blocking the same port MMS is using. I would think they will fix it any day so just keep checking for updates.
Having this same issue and it's awful. Anyone find a solution because above didn't work. Pictures from iPhone/Android looks like ****.
I have this problem but only on Textra. When textra is the default text app, the mms pics I receive are of much lower quality. I had used textra on my previous note 3 and it was fine. Ever since the switch to the 6p, the quality has gotten low. When I use google's messenger as the default app, the mms pics come in normally. Next, I go open textra, I see the normal looking mms that was received but Strangely, a duplicate is also present. And that duplicate picture has lower resolution. I sent Textra the screenshots of my problem, unfortunately I didn't get a solution. They said they would forward the issue to the dev team and they'd work on it.
There's been several updates on Textra since, but none have fixed the issue for me =( I love Textra, but right now I'm back to using google messenger cuz of this issue.
I have this issue as well. It's so annoying that I can't read anything that comes to me with text that isn't huge. I hope someone finds a solution. I am using Textra, maybe that's the culprit?

MMS only working in Messenger

Hi, so I recently picked up this 6P, but I'm having a problem with MMS. I have been using EvolveSMS for quite some time, but MMS messages aren't working. They work perfectly in Messenger though.
I've tried other apps, like Message+ and Textra, none of which work either.
I'm on Verizon's service and have tried using just wifi as well.
Anyone else have similar issues or know what might be wrong?
Thanks !

Nevermind.. I got it!
Apparently the other text apps weren't using the APN settings from the device and I had to set them manually. Never had that happen on a device before, odd.
Which APN setting did you use? Which carrier?

Verizon. In EvolveSMS there was actually a "System Controlled MMS" setting under the APN settings. That picked up the APN settings from the phone.
I hadn't thought to look there initially since that wasn't an option in EvolveSMS on my old phone.
I didn't bother trying in Message+ or Textra since I don't use them.

Can't Send or Recieve MMS

I am unable to send or receive MMS messages. My G4 Plus is rooted. My wife's is not and she can send and recieve MMS with no problem. I have tried with Messenger and with Textra. I checked to APN settings and they appeared to be fine but I deleted the existing profile anyway. I pulled up the APN settings from my wife's phone and I was able to send one mms. Upon attempting to send another, no luck. In Textra, I tried using the legacy setting. That didn't help either. Everything I have found via Google has not worked. I can send MMS with Google Voice and Allo though I prefer not to use these . Any ideas?
