[Review][Share] OnePlus One Review – Is it still worth buying? - ONE General

I brought one for myself a few days back, and now I do feel "why did I miss buying this?".
Here is a review I wrote about the OnePlus One, which might help the gonna-be owners get an idea of what comes and why it is a decent choice in the price range.
I am sharing what I wrote today, and I hope you will like

Htc new answer to evo 30fps limitation..

I sent several complaints to htc and got response from different reps.
Rep#1
"Thank you for your reply. You are correct that the Sprint EVO 4G is locked in at 30FPS. Since the HTC EVO 4G employs a unique HDMI output to deliver video in HD quality to an external display, the hardware graphics driver interface on the HTC EVO 4G uses significant resources for the HDMI output and therefore displays graphics at 30 frames per second on the integrated display. This is a hardware, and not a software, limitation. It’s important to keep in mind that content including most movies and television, are created to run at between 24 and 30 frames per second. The 30FPS is a hardware limitation. This should not present a major issue for most Android applications; however, the customer may have some issues with some 2D or 3D applications. We have also found that some games may be impacted by this limitation.
The device has been locked at 30 FPS due to enhance overall performance in the device. By lowering the FPS of the device the CPU works less. This increases the battery life of the device. There may be third party options available to remove this limitation; however HTC does not condone the use of, support the use of, or offer technical assistance with regard to these third party solutions. I do apologize for any inconvenience you may have experience."
Rep#2
"Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC America Technical Support via E-Mail with your comment regarding the fps of your HTC EVO 4G. I understand how important it is for your device to function to your specifications and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you.
We are investigating the viability of claims that the limitation of 30fps can be overcome by software changes. As soon as we finish our investigations, HTC will announce its findings. There may be third party options available to remove this limitation; however HTC does not condone the use of, support the use of, or offer technical assistance with regard to these third party solutions.
If we can be of further assistance with setting up your sync program, please don’t hesitate to call 1.866.449.8358. We are available Sunday through Saturday 6:00 a.m. until 1:00."
Its htc really trying to find a solution or are they just full of it?
What do you think?

i feel like this is a development issue thats is why it was posted here so if you are not a moderator and cant help me move it to general. keep it to your self. im just trying to input some info for all the evo owners that are in question by this. " if im worng by putting this here this can always be deleted and posted somewhere else.
Yeah but if you actually read other sections on this site your responses have already been given to other people by HTC. These are not new, we have heard them before. This really should have been rolled in to the other pre existing threads. Why would you not post it in the general section and ask if it should be placed in development? I think I know the answer to my own question....

Well this is a development forum. There is a slightly higher standard here and if you can't follow some basic rules then you have no business posting here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695844
Those are pretty clear to me. Pretty easy to follow for anyone with a brain stem. No one expects perfection or you to write source code the fastest but at least read the ****ing directions and follow the basic rules of our home.
This had no business getting posted in development, it has no business in general when there is a massive 600 something or whatever posts on this exact same crap. Not to mention multiple other scattered threads.
Best part is there is already a hacked solution to this with working camera / everything else working, that at least for now is more than enough. So anyone that really gives a **** already has the fix and this isn't even an issue.
Seriously!!! You ****ing losers need to calm down. You act like its ****ing blasphemy that this poor guy posted in the wrong place. What? Did you waste 10 seconds of your worthless lives reading his post and find something you already knew. Congrats!! If you dont have the power to move it then **** off. So much of this lately.

I spent 20 seconds Not wasted mind you I knew what was going to ensue after I read the OP's post.
Each and everyone one of you have done this when you are new to a board. You only learn from experience. We were all NOOBS at one point. We didn't graduate to Geekdom overnight.
When I first came on here I was treated like a red-headed step child for not understanding how to ROOT. I read and read and eventually learned how on my own mostly due to the RUDE responses from some of the people who thought they were entitled to treat newcomers like 3rd rate citizens.
I have given my share of smart assed remarks and have called people out on some things. But when someone new posts a relink or asks a question that they could have searched for I just help because its no BIG deal.
Yes you can say they are lazy or perhaps you might have to consider they are new and aren't well versed in searching. Who really knows. If they are repeat offenders then call them out otherwise its just a simple post that anyone can choose to ignore and not contribute.
It's all good..
I don't think tech knowledge is the issue here and in other threads. I think the issue is forum etiquette. And on a tech/informative forum, the standard should be a little higher than that of a lounge type forum. People should have informative titles (which this one does). Posts should go in the relevant thread (possibly an issue on this one). Searches should be made before making any new thread. And content should be relevant, accurate, and informative (I'm guilty of that first with regards to this post). It can be a delicate balance between over regulation and under regulation. The forums with the highest signal to noise ratio tend to be over regulated but there is such a thing as going too far and pissing off your membership.
There is one forum that I am a member of and have been so for about five years now and I have not made one single post. I am a very outspoken person and I still have not posted there. Why? Because I haven't had anything extremely relevant that will bring knowledge to any of the threads I've seen there and if your post doesn't "bring the tech", you're banned. That's possibly taking it too far but I can say that it is one of the most well behaved, most informative forums I have ever seen. If I just want to hang out and shoot the breeze, I can do so on other forums. So, I just linger and watch, as newbs should do, until I have something to add.

Hahaha... I bet you're talking about elitistjerks.com
Please. Just get over yourselves. It's a good thing that new people are coming to the forums. That means the Android community is growing and moving into more mainstream. Educate and direct people... don't spank them. Otherwise, you'll send them right back to their friendly iPhone forums.
Sounds to me like some 35 year old men need to get out of their moms basement and meet people face to face and learn how to treat others.
Holier than thou attitudes will run people away and along with that the innovation that comes with new ideas. I've been in many environments where a closed loop could not resolve an important issue because they were addressing the issue as they always have. It took someone new looking at the problem, with different experiences, in order to resolve the issue in the best possible way, if you don't like it, or your pride gets hurt, then you probably don't need to be part of the team.
I have also known people who could give Einstein a run for his money, but because they lacked the people skills, they couldn't get in with any major position enough where people would listen, they usually got sent to the corner of R&D and played with obscure possibilities.
As you can tell, I hate arrogance, and because I don't post much in this forum, doesn't mean I can't kick your ass in every other aspect of technology, worldly issues, and life in general.... So put down the mountain dew, and get up out of the basement, and maybe just maybe, you'll find that your high horse isn't high at all.

xda new rule?

Apparently, don't mention iPads...or Apple....your thread will get closed before anyone even gets to see it...would have been nice to be able to reply that this was not just the one comment but the general attitude I encountered while searching an attitude I've not run across in similar Android forums while searching for similar answers about the transformer or Xoom..thought I would show my appreciation for our community here, but apparently the feelings aren't mutual....Meh....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1582960
So...be warned....initiate memory wipe....deleting iPad from vocabulary....working.....DONE!
There is a whole forum dedicated to Apple devices, I believe. I think it's fine for some slight comparison, but you must realize that most people here appreciate how their devices are, and do hate it when people brag about their crapple devices, when most of their best attributes come from the hipster brand name. Yes, I am one of them.
I'm not bragging about...what were we taking about? I seem to have had that device wiped from my memory....(read the link lol)
No, my point was that there are various people on either side, but the type of people who show up to post will be from either side are going to be extremists who hate each other.
Oh the irony
I reported your topic because this is no apple forum neither an ipad forum. Then making a topic about it is inrellrvant. So this is no useful information te be asked or posted about. And no i have not appple products.

No I haven't reported that one. The reason is quite simple. Haven't seen that one yet. I'm not browsing the forum 24/7.
There is no reason to talk about Apple here. none. All it causes is a flame war.
Yes this is the general forum. Generel to transformers. I for one; Glad they delete them.
I just thought I would post something that would make people chuckle like it made me chuckle..and I never go to the 'general' non-device-specific forum..ever..do you? This is home to me..
I don't know any of the folks in general..I don't often feel compelled to share humorous anecdotes with complete strangers. I had no idea there would be people here so sensitive.
FWIW the first 10 times or so I posted in this section I was told, or rather accosted, to sell my TF and buy a..whatever those things are..I am glad people don't beat them into the ground, but I also thought it would be harmless to post something I found funny. Thought..
I will remember in the future that some users can not handle this topic..like discussing abortion in mixed company lol

I feel you. The days that the HTC Hero was populair there had been some more (talking about big) flame wars that evantly got good and bad guys banned (thats rare on XDA!). I just was trying to prefent it here. Thats all!
And yes you made me thing about what operation system and why you want an other operating system on 'a' device. thats all I can say about it
This is an ASUS Transformer community - not sure if our iPad friends in here are aware of that - so, yes, a little bit of biased pro-Transformer/pro-Android pep-rallying can be expected in here. I mean, if you join a group of Liverpool fans, you go in knowing that group is going to be cheering for Liverpool; you don't go into it expecting pro- or even balanced cheering for Everton. But life (and comedy) is about timing, and you happened upon a bad time to post your thread. We had just recently gotten through a bunch of "Transformer this versus iPad that" threads, the incidents of these spiking with the recent iPad launch, and I guess we're just tired of the fighting...for now.

Yes, I did say I was an Android extremist already, and I pointed out that I am a sample of that population..
This thread inspired me to start a new one on all the benefits of Zanussi laundry machines. In the Asus Eee Pad Transformer General section of course.
Laundry machine = Asus transformer competitor?
What's funny is neither of us (the friend that initiated this conversion) were not talking about Android or that other thing, we were talking about windows 8 and what devices it is compatible with (coming from discussing what operating systems I could run on my transformer)..I said my transformer couldn't run it, he challenged that the other thing would be able to run it natively...which resulted in my search...if the conversation had been allowed to pursue it could have led to greater understanding for potential buyers IMO...I want ever 'on the fence' about which one to buy, if nothing else for cost alone, but for those that are and money is no object, I find the differences in the community, not merely the hardware differences or software differences, but the grass roots support to be beneficial in making an on-the-fence decision. I felt slighted..maybe it was a poor post, but the quote I posted I felt would have made me run to Android if I wasnt already here
Luna do you see whats happening with this treahd ? Now this is funny but you can immagane what happend with Apple in it hahah
I love drama
Um...I don't know what you are saying lol
Maybe I should have posted a consumer review lol I was going for more nuance..

Need advice, considering to buy a Note 10.1

Hi! I'm about to buy a tablet next week. It's partly for my personal use, but also for educational use for my daughter (18 months now) and general use for my wife.
I've narrowed my choices down to this one and iPad 3.. I already own a Galaxy S2 and a Nexus S, and enjoy Android a lot, but what my concern is, and my reason for considering the iPad 3 is that I'm not sure how good the app market is for tablets.. I've never had a chance to play with one except from in the store, and they dont have it enabled for accessing the Play Store..
Hardware-wise, although the iPad has a better screen, I find the Note to be more impressive.. And the 4:3 format on the iPad is not very appealing to me.. The extra resolution on the iPad might make it great for e-books, but watching a movie or playing with apps might not make much of a difference between the two.. the movies will be limited to 720p anyway as it's more than good enough on a 10 inch screen.. I'm not big on e-books so I will probably never read a book on it.
Software-wise, I hate iTunes so obviously the Note has the advantage here as it doesnt require any software on the computer.. I'm not gonna enter into an iOS vs Android discussion here, so lets just conclude that both iOS and Android are good OS's that are capable of doing what I require from them.
And then finally we come to the point where I'm stuck and makes it hard to choose: APPS..
How good is the app-market on android for tablets? which has the best app market for tablets? The iPad or the Note?
Is there any good educational apps for kids available on Play Store? Does any of these make use of the S Pen?
Does the S Pen have any good apps available in the Play Store, on top of the ones that come preloaded on the Note?
Hope to get some objective replies here.. I'm asking here and not on a Apple-forum as the iSheeps would automatically just say iPad, even if the Note could get you a cup of coffee and read you next weeks lottery numbers......

The tablet apps on Android are sufficient enough. There's just about an android equivalent or better for most IOS apps. There are tons of educational apps for Android. Best thing is most of them are free. Or at least have free versions for you to try out. There are some educational apps that make use of S pen. But I would let your child(18 months) grasp using finger for tablet use before S pen. I have a 2yrs.old. she just wants to grab the pen and smash it into the screen...lol. they are to young, IMO, to realize how to be gentle with pen and tablet use. These tablets can be great educational tools though.
There are alot more apps than what comes pre-installed that make use of the S Pen. There's a preloaded app called S suggest I believe, that you can see alot of those apps in one place. S PEN APPS THAT IS.
Since you already accustomed to Android, go for t eNlte 10.1. Its an excellent tablet experience out the box. Plus it does way more than we're discussing. Ex, universal remote(IR blaster built in), watching movies, drawing, photo editing, writing notes, stories, brainstorming, gaming, productive things, etc.. I briefly thought about getting an ipad3 at first, then I remembered how locked down it was and how boring using it was. I grew tired of the OS. All I did was jailbreak and mod it like crazy to be as close to android experience as I could get.
I recommend the Note 10.1 over ipad3 anyday.

I'm also looking to buy soon. Does anyone think that the price will drop soon? Like around Black Friday? Should I wait it out, or is it too new to drop in price that quick?

Samsung controls the pricing through authorized resellers. And the cost to authorized resellers is pretty high compared to other manufacturers so non-authorized resellers are kind of hamstrung by what it costs them to by product from those who are authorized. Typically you'll see value- adds like bonus accessories and in-store credit. Fry's is/was running "$100 in-store credit" with purchase. If there's going to be Black Friday door busters I'd expect to see them on 7" tablets and those by Acer, Asus and Lenovo. Those brands were last year’s door busters. Not that there may not be "deals" of some kind on the Note but you'll be looking at $100 off potentially not half price.

Hi, I've been reading note 10.1 forums over a month even though I'm not lucky enough to own one yet. I'm not gonna question you're knowledge and awareness of these forums contents since I can see that you (mitchellvii) are a lot more active in here than I am, but yet I'd like you to point a thread that is about what applications is there available on google play store that are fun and educational apps for children less than 2 years old. I've not found one. Yet there might be one of course but you said that this particular question has been asked extensively, which is a synonym to a phrase such as "many times" and "over and over again".
I agree that these forums share so much information that half of these questions asked here could've been avoided by reading a few pages, but I think that when you search these threads in your time of boredom or your interest - which is exactly what I do - you should read what it's about instead of only reading it's title which seems similar to those 10 other threads where you just adviced people about not to ask those same questions "extensively". And maybe, just maybe then give your "constructive" answer.
I think that this guy here asked a very good question concerning what use note 10.1 could have to children, even though I'm only 19 years old and don't have any little boys or girls.
Please don't hate me because of this post, I just expressed my opinion on this matter and I might be wrong. I just think that people asking polite and appropriate questions should be treated the same way if the exact questions hasn't been answered yet, shouldn't they?
I think my point here is quite good and it emphasizes good team spirit. But maybe it's just me. Is it? (((see I'm sad and hopeless and yet I have some sort or HOPE that I'm not alone when I think that internet forums shouldn't be a place where people say inappropriate and rude things just because they don't need to say it face to face cos it's easier to say those in here.)))

Yes that's something to look for but can it be found here in xda galaxy note 10.1 forums? What I was wondering was if this questions has asked in here before. I don't know if you got this link from xda note 10.1 forums since I obviously didn't read them all before posting my opinion. But if a person comes on note 10.1 forum and asks a question that's not been asked and answered here, we should give him the answer if we have one and we should NOT expect him to google it if the questions is as ungooglable as this one is. Xda is about helping, not about "you can't ask that and if you ask you won't get an answer because someone asked something like that a month ago so you should already have an answer because someone gave it to someone on some thread some time ago". Right? We can't escape the fact that there will be "help me! Should i get ipad or note i don't know and i'm dying"- threads every god damn day but this one is not a thread like that. This one has a particular point focusing on children and I think it's a great perpective. And I do feel sorry now for the creator of this thread cos I just filled the first page with my thoughts sorry about that but I just thought it needed to be said somewhere.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying? I'm not looking for anything. In my first post I replied to mitchellvii that he's not actually helping anyone which should be the point in here. If you read my posts I think you'll see I don't currently need any help and I'm not looking for anything. Excuse me if I didn't catch your point on your last post but please explain me if you think I missed something which is quite possible since english is not my best language.

Typically forums like XDA are very general. What you're asking about is very specific. Also, at least in my time here, there hasn't been a lot of focus on mobile devices being used by children. So if you're looking for information I don't think you'll find anything specifc enough to meet your needs. If you're asking if there's a need I'd say yes, but it would be of interest to a small subset of the community. Hope that helps.

Oh and I wasn't looking for a thread concerning this matter cos I thought from the beginning that it doesn't exist, so I asked mitchellvii to point one which he obviously hasn't been able to do yet. My purpose was to tell someone who just replied to a unigue question - "there is plenty of other questions like this one." - to go find another one if there's so many of them. Okay?

I know where Mitch was coming from. Just today there were three threads started besides your all asking "should I buy a Note?" That in addition to others that were already open. His answer assumed yours was a question already asked but yours was specifc to children. Nobody should be offended. Hopefully you'll get the Note and someday have children you can hand it down to.

First of all you need to chill out. As Barry said we get 2 or 3 these "Why should I buy this tablet?" threads each day.
The OP didn't mention his interest in educational apps until about the 8th paragraph down. 90% of his question has been asked and answered hundreds of times. Thus it is pretty clear to me the OP did not spend 10 seconds searching for an answer prior to asking, otherwise he would have just asked about educational apps without the rest.
Read then ask.

Well, I think I made a better thread by describing my situation, rather than simply starting a thread with: "Are there any educational apps for this thing?"
You say: read, then ask
I say: Read the whole initial post before answering, not just the first line.
And for the record, I have been searching and reading a lot before posting here, but didn't really find any clear and good information regarding my question..
Anyway, none the less, I got some good answers here and the link that was posted was very helpful.. It really makes it easier to decide, and I'm 90% sure that I will go for the Note.. Thanks!

So would you suggest buying at a certain location in case the price drops? Is Amazon a good choice for purchasing this? I get 5% cash back if I buy with my Discover card starting Monday (online purchases). I hear Best Buy is good too for their return policy. I've always loved Amazon for no-hassle returns though. Any advice?

I think the lowest price last year for the OG G-Tab 10.1 over Black Friday was $349 vs. $499 retail. I wouldn't expect any better on the Note. But hey, these are crazy times so who knows what retailers will do to bring people in this year. Price protection's usually 30 days so you'd have to wait until the end of October to have the reseller match any holiday discounts. If you know anyone that's a Best Buy Silver Rewards member I think they get 60 days price protection.

[Q] Is OnePlus (One) reliable?

Hi guys,
since the oneplus forums is a total mess and i have a bit more confidence on xda forums, what do you think about the OnePlus/OnePlus One ?
I will buy the phone next week and i would like your opinion.
There is any wierd trick about this device/brand? Ok, i know that probably the support is not the best..
And do you know about people that bought the phone and had some problems with it?
You're new here it seems. Check the existing threads. There is one on Your Thoughts / Opinions on the OnePlus One. There is also a thread I believe on their customer service. I'd recommend checking them out and see if that can get you started.
I feel you on the OnePlus forums. It is absolutely chaotic.

[discussion] moderators being excessive

Is it just me or does everyone else think the mods are being way more hurtful than helpful with the way they are monitoring the threads here. I haven't ever seen a group of mods close threads and clean threads so much or so randomly in my life.
Sent from my Galaxy S8+ Verizon
Ah NO, they are not. They are doing their job and are clearing out the junk. Actually, I would like them to be more aggressive in their cleaning of the useless posts. For example the one that type I am pressing F5 till root hits. Really what does that have to do with obtaining root? Nothing and when the Mods delete those type of posts they do all of us a favor.
This is a forum. Expecting people to discuss things and not go off on tangents is like expecting a fat guy and an all you can eat buffet to only eat one french fry.
If you have to constantly close threads and clean them there are two problems:
1. You are not removing trouble posters that use personal attacks and act like asses
2. Your expectations for how much control you should expect on a forum is out of whack
I think both of those are the problems, not any actual discussion. This site is a far cry from what it used to be.
Moderators are trained on how to do their jobs. But what you don't know, is most of that is up to them to use their best judgement. Please try to remember, moderators do not see every single post being made. We rely strongly on the members to point us to trouble. From there, it's up to the individual moderator to handle things the best way they see fit.
I encourage everyone to report anything they feel is a violation of our rules or contact me directly. My PM inbox is always open for any concerns. This goes for just about any moderator or administrator of xda. We are here to help, not be forum police. You also don't always see all sides to the story. If it seems one thread is getting a lot of attention, then there's most likely a problem there.
Hope this helps,
The Merovingian

I think it's overall quite balanced. They actually show some patience when some threads are getting out of topic, they could even more swiftly without it being shocking (There are really some threads getting completely messed up and they do a great job cleaning them up). I have seen much more arguable behaviors a few years go.
I just feel that a thread being cleaned should only be at the request of the OP period. And moderators need to use logic instead of their best judgement. Sometimes going off on a tangent is exactly what needs to happen for a developer to get an idea. All of a sudden someone is talking about Verizon FiOS and then fiber comes I to talks, from fiber the dev thinks of the food he eats, from there he remembers he had an idea at breakfast. I just feel that with the s8(+) forums specifically there are a few moderators who have gone full on post police for no reason. They have deleted nearly as much helpful information as hurtful.

A lot of the time we do clean up at the request of the OP. You might be surprised about the cleaning we have done and who reported the issue. And we do use our logic. My logic might be different to your logic, and that is where our judgement comes in. We are using our judgement or common sense to try to keep the forums tidy and welcoming . But if someone other than the OP reports abuse or spamming(or any posts that are against XDA rules), we shouldn't clean those posts?
People going off on tangents is not something we generally worry too much about, but again, a lot of times the OP will report it and request we remove those posts. The other thing is, people read those threads to get whatever information they are seeking. Not everyone wants to read through pages of posts that have no relation to the subject of the thread. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who agree and disagree with that. But that is our problem, we will never keep everyone happy.
You're welcome to your opinion, but our goal as moderators is to tread the fine line between letting everyone have their say and enforcing the rules that we all agreed to when we joined.

I can respect that. Maybe there needs to be a double moderator system or something, where not just one moderator cleans it, but 2 or more working together. Would need more mods, but would likely result in more accurate cleaning?
Sent from my Galaxy S8+ Verizon
I've been op of some big threads in the past and commend the work the mods do to clean up the threads over and over. It's not an easy job to keep up with.
I personally appreciate the effort moderators are putting here and the time they spend clearing out the junk. Every report I send is dealt with quickly.
It's not about them being "forum police"... but some sort of order has to be in place since threads get derailed, spammed and completely swamped with random discussions from time to time. A forum with no control is a mess.
TL : DR; To any mod reading this, thank you. You're doing great.

To be honest, if we felt that was needed, that would be like us saying we don't trust our moderators to operate independently.
But we do. 100%. Every one of them. The current "cleaning" is more than accurate enough in our eyes.
I think noppy's response gave a good explanation of why things are done the way they are.
But if you think mods are being too heavy handed or excessive, then by all means, let us know (via private medium, not in the public forum). Provide some examples, and we will look into them. We take all feedback and complaints very seriously.
But from what you've been describing here, it seems this is more a matter of personal opinion than cold, hard over moderation.
It's difficult for those not on the moderation team to grasp just how many reports we deal with on a daily basis. (bearing in mind we have over 8 million members). Reports that get submitted by users like yourself, using the Report Post button. You'll actually find that most actions that a moderator takes on a thread are because of a report, not because of something they are doing off their own back.

Ok, you have a point on helping, and agree sometimes a blind squirrel sometimes finds the nut. However, if you look at 99.9999% of the posts they have zero to do with the subject at hand. Again, I use my example of the multiple "I am pressing F5 till root drops". Honestly, what does that have to do with the root discussion? Nothing, so deleting them is the best thing. Also to your point, how many times does thread have to have the announcement somebody found the way to root snapdragon Galaxy S8+ by using dirtycow (which does not work by the way, but did not stop 500 people from posting they found root)? And to come full circle, the mods do not delete useful content, it is just there are some many folks with zero skill thinking their input has value when it doesn't. To thank a person hit the thanks button or donate to them. Don't waste a post on thanking them. Again to my example, no I and the other 7 billion humans that live on planet Earth do not care that you are hitting the f5 button till root drops, so don't waste a post saying so, and to the fool that bumped that post, stop. In closing, the mods in my opinion don't clean the threads enough, just because the plethora of useless posts that occur in a very short amount of time. For them to keep up it would require them to have no life, no family, no job......
It's every day bro.... "Jake Paul Voice"
I almost never have issue with a mod. I have seen a lot of cleaning and closing on the S8/+ root threads, but I show up after the fact. So I can't say whether or not if they were being excessive. I think they are doing about as well as you could expect a human to.

No i think they should actually be far more agressive in some ways
There are WAY too many lazy, entitled no search/ no read idiots in here now than 5 years ago when i got here.
Back then you were expected to attempt to help your self first...exhaust all options then ask a question or ask for help.
This new generation of lazy users make it miserable for those of us that are not lazy, always read the OP and always search before asking stupid/repeat questions.
I know the mods have been told to be show more leniency then in previous years but i think that is not the way to go.
And god forbid you actually tell someone directly they are lazy or quote the rules to them...then you end up with an infraction. In real life i dont hold my tongue or tolerate lazy people .i shouldnt have to on a web forum... telling the truth (in a reasonably respectful way) is a good thing last time i checked.
Its sickening honestly.
I miss the old days...
That said the mods have an almost impossible task in front of them. I respect and appreciate every single one of them...even the one who gave me infractions lol.

Now that root is released, I feel like the mod team will have many more reports to deal with, tons more off topic posts and clutter, the stepped up response is called for in my insight. You've done an outstanding job, and I don't think I need to tell you that guys. Thank you.

Doing their job is all they need to do and not whine about it and close threads. Their job is not to try to get ppl from making useless posts, they are not teachers or guides. Their job is to clean and moderate. Likely done better by sentient programs or trained gibbons. Open the progress threads and moderate Instead of holding the threat of closing threads over users heads like petulent bullies. They need to check their egos and just execute the functions of their job title. Now this may mean actually doing more work, spending more time doing moderator things....and that's the rub isn't it. They do not want to be bothered with moderating, they just want the ego boost they think the title entitles them to.
