Factory reset the watch, uninstall the app, unpair the watch in the phone's BT settings.
Start the pairing, app installation and sync all over again.
After the app says the watch is connected, send yourself a text and see if you get a notification on the watch.
If this doesn't work, contact their support.
(Don't bother with ADB. Unless you know what process you are looking for, "ps" isn't much help)

1- how to reset the watch?
2- the pairing work! I use smart watch to listen calling
3- app is connected and notification work but is stuck on configuration (look photo on top)

Do not reset the watch
To reset the watch press the top button and on/off at the same time. But then you are stuck on the loading screen, so to be avoided. Despite no way to overcome the first qr code screen the watch works with the BT connection, as I can see the number of steps in the smartphone app. There are a few other apps that work with the watch. But as the watch does not actually display anything, it is not recommended to buy it for the moment.

EDIT

EDIT

Good job You are awesome.

Those flash images posted are for different watch and are based on the Ingenic smart watch reference platform code (available at Ingenic site for free)
Original W3 watch firmware had different rom that had totally rewritten launcher code and lots of new features,
that's why it uses different manager app than the original watch firmware.
If somebody has the real rom code available for this watch, I would like to have it as I managed to destroy the Acmeasylauncher.apk when debugging the pairing problem.

New method for installing XP

Hi all.
This is another method for installing windows XP on the Shift. It uses WPI (Windows Post Install) for running every installation in sequence, so it should be easier for everybody.
Most steps have been simplified, so hopefully you only have to press a lot of buttons, and you'll end with an almost perfect XP installation.
Download this:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ca737a/n/WPI_exe
Follow these steps:
1.- Install Windows XP Tablet, or plain Windows XP and use the TabletPCPatch. Take out SD card.
2.- Execute WPI.exe, decompress to C: (type c: and enter)
3.- Execute c:\WPI\wpi.hta
4.- In the applications list that appears, select OmniPass if you wan to use the fingerprint reader and ActiveSync, then click on "Begin Install"
5.- Chipset: next, yes, next, next, finish with reboot.
6.- VGA: next, next, yes, next, next, finish with reboot. Add resolution to registry, yes, yes.
7.- EC Driver: next, finish.
8.- TouchScreen: next, next.
Next and follow trough the three windows of "new hardware found", before rebooting!. Finish with reboot the Touch Screen Driver.
9.- TouchPad: next, next, next, finish with reboot.
10.- FingerPrint: next, accept, next, next, next, install, finish.
11.- Audio: press any key, next, DON'T REBOOT, finish, press any key.
12.- USB Lan: finish.
13.- WLAN: Drivers are copied to c:\wlandrivers, install from there when you are asked for them later.
14.- CYGWIN: next, "install from local directory", next, next, next, click the + sign next to "devel" and click on the word "skip" of the line "ioperm" so that "0.4-1" appears, next, deselect both icons creation, finish.
15.- HSECT: nothing to do here.
16.- BAT Files: Add batfiles to registry, yes, Ok.
17.- Astray: nothing to do here.
18.- SwapResolution: Add swapResolution to registry, yes, Ok.
Let it reboot after 20 seconds.
Now it usually asks about the WLAN drivers, see step nr. 13.
If it asks about drivers for Windows Mobile, just answer yes until it finishes.
Thanks to DeVictoria for the SwapResolution and the rest of you for adding comments.
Thanks for the step-by-step guide dproldan
Hi! Thank you very much for this post!!!
Just an information... Where can I find Windows Xp Tablet???
I have no external cdrom, can I run the installation of Windows Xp Tablet from USB key? How can I do???
Sorry but I'm at a very low level!!!!
Thank you!!!!
Beppe
I cant manage how to run BT/WF.
Its just doesent work. Cygwin seems to be ok, but when i want to run HSECT it shows that some dll is missing, or just disappearing.
I've managed how to install and run bluetooth correctly, but i cant install drivers for Wi-Fi.
"Device cannot start (CODE 10)"
Same stuff with sound. I have only Bluetooth Sound, nothing more.
And i cannot switch to SnapVue.
hi, i install windows xp tablet Pc edition 2005 english version,
step and step follow the new method for installing xp ,
it's ok but wifi ,
in device manager ,marvell sd8686wireless LAN SDIO Adapter #3 is yellow mark, and i can't use it ,
some thing wrong with me?
how can i star up the wifi for internet?
Thanks for the WinXP easy install process. I got everything working trying this package.
To get Wifi working, you have to copy the "copy HTC Shift XP Drivers\WLAN\sdbus.sys to c:\windows\system32\drivers\ say yes to the replace dialog and reboot."
DO THIS IN SAFE MODE ONLY. This is how I got mine to work. I had the same problem with the yellow and not working wifi code 10 in the device manager.
If you copy this without in safe mode, it will not work because after the reboot the system will replace the overided version with the old one again.
thatboyp
'
yes..u re rite.. but in normal windows mode...the sdbus.sys also can be moved.
the overwrite sdbus.sys make the SD card SDHC no functioning.
on the contrary, if i update the sdio driver ...i mean overwrite the sdbus.sys the SDHC card 4g above will work but the wifi lan will not work.
we gona have the driver which works with these two functions
This automated driver installation is great help & instructions are very clear.
Many thanks to dproldan for all the hard work and excellent finish.
However, i had big issues to get wi-fi work but in the end removing the battery and then after that running turn WF on helped.
MAYBE REMOVING BATTERY HELPS WITH WI-FI ISSUE !!
i don't know if this helps but maybe next time:
- check in Vista that wi-fi is turned on
- do all the installing
- if wi-fi not working: remove battery and put it back
- then run WF on
- marvel appeared in device manager with yellow exclamation
- upgrade drivers from c:\wlandrivers
hth
Hallo,
thats perfect. Many Many thanks.
I've finally installed XP using the above WPI method which is fantastic - Many thanks for everyone's effort on it. I was very surprised that both BT and WiFi worked with no extra input or fiddling from me YAY!
BUT my touchscreen wouldn't work as the TabletPC patch doesn't self install and the instructions didn't state this. Luckily I found instructions elsewhere (it unzips to c:/temp and you have to manually run step1 and step2 the reboot) and now it's all working and super speedy compared to Vista.
Has anybody succeeded activating like all chipsets when going with Windows XP Tablet PC SP3 ?
as far as I know using XP involves the following inconvenience:
1. the touchscreen need a tweak in deactivating a HID driver to fully work (working to remove that)
2. making the WiFi work disables the SD Card port => if WiFi then no_SDcard !BIG PROBLEM! (solved by going to sleep then start up - original files, don't replace anything)
3. 800x480 resolution only => can't find any program to make "see" all resolution BUT " MultiRes " could change IF would be available ! !QUITE BIG PROBLEM! (working on it)
4. no native portrait look => try " iRotate " to rotate
5. can't program right upper buttons for exec'ing needed commands (such a Control Panel) (working on it - think I found something)
? I tend to use the latest available drivers, not the ones available on HTC, keeping updated is one of my fixed ideas
I tried Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows XP TabletPC 2005 SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7... I recommend Windows XP TabletPC 2005 SP3 for advanced users and Windows 7 for the world ON HTC SHIFT, not for pc or else...
If someone has any good and updated instructions set for installing Windows XP TabletPC 2005 SP3... please let me know, the genuine part I have already taken care of, I'm talking more about the drivers and all of that for all to work well, and I need XP for development, Windows 7 is not ready to be low-level programmed and is not suitable for me.
I'm not saying XP is better, I run Windows 7 on my main desktop because is quite powerfull and there's nothing I can't do on it, BUT I need XP for my beautifull Shift, it do think it more suitable
UPDATE ! After I installed Windows XP Tablet PC 2005 SP3, did Windows Update, restart... and discovered a bug wich allows us to use the WiFi without modifying no file, just go to sleep-mode and then start the device, all chipsets are going ok, I'm using a 16GB SDHC Silicon card, using wireless, bluetooth and all what I need... NO hacking required, looks like there's a exploit in power management's sleep mode... that's better for me, for now at least than giving up to SDslot for WiFi... so sleep -> wake, and you're ON !
Update 2: given up and going for Windows 7 which really makes a difference for touchscreen use

Hi Samstables,
I strongly need your help here for installing the TabletPC patch on WinXP.
I followed your steps for installing the TabletPC patch and I did not manage to have the Input Panel working. I can see it while booting Windows but I cannot call it from the taskbar icon.
In the above post you mentioned Step 1 and Step 2, then reboot and so I did it. What about step 3?
What is the size of the patch you used, it's important to know as I might have downloaded a damaged patch.
tanks tanks tanks!
Very good, but i have a problem:
if i reeboot then i don't have wifi.
I must remove from device manager the sdio card reader and then refresh the wifi and the card running.
PS: excuse me for my english
WPI_exe file no longer exist
Hi all,
I just got HTC shift and decide to install WinXP for faster response
Find this thread, but link for WPI below is dead
Can anybody reupload this file?

[HowTo] use 3G Dongle on TF101 *UPDATED 04/13/2012*

Hello,
(First sorry for my very bad english. It's not my natural language but I do my best for sharing with you!)
04/13 - UPDATE: Now 3G works for ICS with some ROMs like Megatron.
Revolver will be based on TF101G ICS ROM soon.
09/17 - UPDATE:Roach2010 and gnufabio have developped an apk that enable Mobile Network settings (for 3G dongle).
Their APK change the bootloader. (Read more and download)
So maybe this thread has no purpose except for issues and for the list of compatible dongles. If you have a dongle which work and which is not in the list.....
11/08 - UPDATE: 3G dongle works too with Extension-Kit/TFUSB1 Asus P/N 90-XB2UOKEX00020
You can find it here: http://shop.asus.fr/shop/fr/fr-FR/Home/1-Produits/1500-Collection-ASUS/1936-Accessoires-Eee-Pad/1937-Accessoires-Transformer-Prime-TF201/90-XB2UOKEX00070-Adaptateur-USB-externe-pour-ASUS-Eee-Pad.aspx (Thanks to ValenteL for information)
************************************************************
Bellow you can find the first post
Thank you,
Regards.
FIRST POST:
There is probably other ways to make the 3G Dongle working on TF101 but here you can find how we have done.
The follow lines work to have Prime v1.5 installed on your Transformer (works with any version!)
Then you could upgrade to Revolver 2.1.
Otherwise you can directly nvflash your TF101 with the Revolver 2.5 NVFlashed version of cuckoopt.
You just have to follow instructions on this post.
Don't forget to thank him if it works for you
Note: SetCpu doesn't seem to work. I don't know if the issue is coming from Revolver or HC. By re-installing SetCpu, it works one time then crashes.
A. Prime V1.5 Installation:
1. You have to backup all your data/apk from your Internal SD Card because we will make a clean install. So use your backup software.
Becareful. if you project to use Titanium Backup, his backup files are on the internal SD Card so afterwards, you have to move it to your MicroSD (from /mnt/sdcard/Titatium Backup to /data/Removable/MicroSD)
2. Download NVFlash: http://www.filefactory.com/file/ccda97c/n/nvflash.zip then the NVFlash version of Prime v1.5: http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/roach2010/flash_roms/prime_v1.5_nvflash.tar.bz2
Updated note: I am not able to activate the Mobile Network option with version 1.6 (even Zip version for ClockWorkMod nor NVFlash version).
But some people have succesfully activated it by flashing NetFinder 1.5 just after the fresh Install of Prime v1.6 and before rebooting the system ; it means in the same CWM
3. unpack NVFlash and Prime v1.5 in the same directory. The image files of Prime v1.5 should be unpacked into the NVFLashTF folder.
4. Connect your TF101 to your PC via USB. Then hold the volume UP and Power button until a NEW device named "APX" appears in the Device Manager. Note that the screen of the Transformer stays black.
5. Click on the APX to install drivers from directory USBPCDriver (included in NVFlash.zip)
info: I used Windows XP 32 bits.
6. Then run Download.bat if you are on Windows, download.sh for Linux users
7. When NVFlash is ended, reboot your TF101.
During boot, there is a setup wizard. Choose connection with "3G and Wifi", not "only Wifi"!!
At this step, you must have the Mobile Network option in Parameters.
8. Download Maxh2003 Script: http://android.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=73836 (you need to be a register user on Modaco You could find another link some posts after!)
Download the Patch files for ACER A500 tab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=638588&d=1309189189
9. Unzip the script and the Patch file in the same directory.
If you want to upgrade to Revolver 2.1 version (HoneyComb 3.2), you must stop here and go to step B (chapter B).
Otherwise continue chapter A.
10. Connect your TF101 and run install-TF101.bat
11. Mobile Network option is here.
B. REVOLVER 2.1 Installation
1. Do a fresh install of Prime v1.5 NVFlsh version.
If it's not the case go back to the begin of this post and execute steps A.1 to A.9. then go back to B.2
2. Download this file
3. If you read this, Prime v1.5 NVFlash version is installed and you are in CWM Recovery screen.
Install the Recovery 2.1 version (Full). DON'T WIPE DATA
4. At the end, just reboot your system and verify that Mobile Network option is still here.
5. Then we have to install drivers for your dongle (see the list below for compatible dongles).
Let your TF101 on, connect it to your PC via USB cable and run install-TF101.bat via cmd.exe from Windows (tested under Windows XP x86 and Windows 7 x64)
C. List of COMPATIBLE DONGLES
Note: if your dongle is not in this list, but works with TF101, please tell me. It will be added to the list.

D. About LED on HUAWEI 3G Dongle:[/B]
The LED indicator displays the current connection status of your Orange E1752 dongle, with each colour representing a different status:
When the LED displays green and is blinking twice every three seconds, this means that the dongle is powered on.
When the LED displays green and is blinking once every three seconds, this means that the dongle is attempting to register onto a 2G network.
When the LED displays blue and is blinking once every three seconds, this means that the dongle is attempting to register onto a 3G network.
When the LED displays solid green, this means that the dongle is connected onto a 2G network.
When the LED displays solid blue, this means that the dongle is connected onto a 3G network.
When the LED displays solid cyan, this means that the dongle is connected onto a 3G+ network
When the LED displays no colour, this means that the dongle is removed.

And dont forget to turn off the composite device of the 3G dongle.
Here how to do (thanks to Matchstick from Modaco who wrote these lines):
You can test this by plugging the stick into a PC and seeing if it detects the modem as a CD or Memory stick device as well as a modem.
If it does then the method I used to turn off the composite device (on Windows 7) was:
1) Install the software and drivers for the modem under windows and make sure that the connection software sees the modem correctly.
2) Go to Settings/Control Panel/Device Manager and if you expand the Modems section you should see your USB modem listed there
3) Double click on the entry for the modem to get the properties panel up and selected the Modem tab
4) You should see a line at the very top of the tab that says something like Port: COM11 - This is the virtual serial port that the PC uses to talk to the modem which we're going to use to send the command to turn off all the stuff we don't want.
5) Next we want to install a serial console application. PuTTY is perfect for this. If you don't have a copy you can get if from here,
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
6) Run putty, select Serial under Connection Typem and enter the port we found in step 4 (eg COM11) into the box marked Serial Line and press the Open button
7) An empty window should pop up, which if things are working correctly is connected to the Modem
8) Type "ATI" into the window (without the quotes) and press return. The ATI command asks the modem for basic information and it should respond with something like
Manufacturer: huawei
Model: E1752
Revision: 11.126.03.01.314

9) If you see this then you are connected correctly, if you don't see a response try physicaly unplugging and reconnecting the modem into a different USB port and start again from step 2 after windows has loaded the drivers for the modem.
10) Assuming everything is OK, the we can send the command to turn off the stuff we don't want. To do this simply type "AT^U2DIAG=0" (again without quotes) into the putty window. you should see the response OK.
11) If you do then the composite device features should now be turned off and you are ready to try the modem in your transformer.

Remerciements/Thanks to AndroidRoot.mobi for NVFlash, Paul for Prime!, Maxh2003 for his script and help, Matchstick for his help, Dexter_nlb for his A500 patch and, of course, all our developers and users who help us.
Not sure why I've flashed several roms in APX from w7 64 bit just fine.
It seems that these drivers don't work for win7 64 and works for Vista 64.
Perhaps they are unsigned.... didn't know. I don't make more tests.
Regards.
Looking good. Now to get a 3G plan and dongle...
Anyone get this working?

insmod is having no luck with these kernel modules, none are loaded, and I get nothing??? what's the deal? has anyone got this working including the OP or is this just a theoretical WIP

Hello it's not a theoretical WIP.
Look here
Can you give more details please?
Regards,
oh... I guess insmod won't work on the modules without a compatible modem plugged in then?
many thanks! got it to work on my E1750
although you might want to put the instruction steps to remove the storage on the modem (only works after I did it):
Insert modem into pc and wait for driver to install
check in device manager which com port is assignated to your modem
download putty
here the.earth.li/~sgtatham/putty/latest/x86/putty.exe
close every program related to modem
run putty
click serial below port number and then change port number to one previously founded
click open
write atz and press enter, modem should answer ok
write ati and press enter, modem should give name, type, etc
write AT^U2DIAG=0 and press enter, zero cd is now disabled

Probably. is you 3G Dongle in the "compatibility list".
If yes, you have to turn off the composite device of the 3G dongle.
Here how to do (thanks to Matchstick from Modaco):
Code:
If you don't have a copy you can get if from here,
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatha...y/download.html
6) Run putty, select Serial under Connection Typem and enter the port we found in step 4 (eg COM11) into the box marked Serial Line and press the Open button
7) An empty window should pop up, which if things are working correctly is connected to the Modem
8) Type "ATI" into the window (without the quotes) and press return. The ATI command asks the modem for basic information and it should respond with something like
Manufacturer: huawei
Model: E1752
Revision: 11.126.03.01.314
IMEI: 123456789012345
+GCAP: +CGSM,+DS,+ES
OK
9) If you see this then you are connected correctly, if you don't see a response try physicaly unplugging and reconnecting the modem into a different USB port and start again from step 2 after windows has loaded the drivers for the modem.
10) Assuming everything is OK, the we can send the command to turn off the stuff we don't want. To do this simply type "AT^U2DIAG=0" (again without quotes) into the putty window. you should see the response OK.

What kind of OTG adapter are you using for this?
Hi all,
will this work with the Huawei E173u2 , the second version adapted for (pseudo)"4G" networks
I am with stock 3.1 + root.
Does it work or I need to install PRIME anyway?
At the moment, everyone who has got this to work has had to install Prime 1.5 (and several of us had to install the NVFlash specific version of Prime)

Is this similar to the huawei E367 ? As I'm looking at the E367 at the moment.
One easy(ish) way to check is to follow Steps 1-8 from post 12, then enter the command "AT^GETPORTMODE" (without the quotes)
If you get a response like
"^getportmode:type:WCDMA:Qualcomm,MDM:0,NDIS:1,DIAG:2,PCUI:3,CDROM:4"
then the E173u2 is using the new interface like the E367 and at the moment I can't get it to work.
It may be that the drivers aren't compatible (I'm not seeing ttyUSB0-ttyUSB2 devices appearing in /dev/) or it may just be that I haven't got the correct interfaces enabled.
There's information on the AT commands for the new-style Huawei modems here

[beginner] A few questions about n00b Android DEV.

I just watched Adam Outler hello world tutorial and managed to setup Eclipse. I use Ubuntu 12.04.
A few questions sprung, though:
1. I installed Juno , hope this is not a problem. I think the video uses 3.8
2. Java was not installed on my PC, but I obviously had to. I used Java 7( not open JDK). OK?
3. A few things were a bit different than in the video - had no option for android project, so I had to select android application project, is this ok.
4. I first tried to run the app on my not rooted HTC One X, but eclipse seems to object. The name of the device was all question marks. What might be the problem? I run it successfully on my DHD( rooted, CNM 7.2 )
Please, help a the willing to learn
Hey deckoff, I'm new to Android Dev as well and I have setup the environment on a few machines.
Q: I installed Juno , hope this is not a problem. I think the video uses 3.8
A: Not sure, I'm using Windows with eclipse 3.6.2 I have installed it Ubuntu, but it was 3.7.2
Q: Java was not installed on my PC, but I obviously had to. I used Java 7( not open JDK). OK?
A: I pretty sure it requires the JDK not just the runtime.
Q: A few things were a bit different than in the video - had no option for android project, so I had to select android application project, is this ok.
A: Yes, It was renamed to Android Application Project
Q: I first tried to run the app on my not rooted HTC One X, but eclipse seems to object. The name of the device was all question marks. What might be the problem? I run it successfully on my DHD( rooted, CNM 7.2 )
A: Since your doing this on Ubuntu, your not suppose to have to install any special Drivers. Do you have "USB Debugging" Checked? I also have the option to allow "Unknown sources" - Allow installation of non-Market apps, checked.

Yes, it is - the very same settings on Desire HD and the apps works just fine, but on HTC one X does not. The name is not properly seen by the PC - it is just "???????"
Does adb recognize the one x? Try with adb devices if that doesn't work, just set up permissions for the device
Sent from my MB526 using xda premium
Here is the log that I got when trying to connect :
Code:
[2012-08-05 23:24:33 - xdatv] ------------------------------
[2012-08-05 23:24:33 - xdatv] Android Launch!
[2012-08-05 23:24:33 - xdatv] adb is running normally.
[2012-08-05 23:24:33 - xdatv] Performing com.example.xdatv.MainActivity activity launch
[2012-08-05 23:24:33 - xdatv] Automatic Target Mode: Unable to detect device compatibility. Please select a target device.
This is straight out of Eclipse....
When I try to connect, I get a dialog, screenshot attached.
As I said, we are talking about unrooted, stock HTC one X, dev options enabled, sideloading enabled
I have not tried what you suggest yet, because:
1. I am not quite sure what does it exactly mean and how to do that ( I will read and probably find out, so thank you)
2. My laptop failed, so I had to go back to my 8 year old Thinkpad x40, and setup and redo everything again...
(SHAME ON YOU, LENOVO, 2 months old x220, which costs a fortune, powers on "sometimes", and recognizes it's HDD "sometimes"..)
I managed run the app on the One X as well, following this link:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1890861
In general I had to stop adb and re-start it...
Anyway, two things still puzzle me:
1. Why rooted CNM Desire HD will not present any problems, and apparently will not require root adb, while One X will
2. Still, Eclipse will fire error messages, namely "Cannot monitor device"
3. Can I run adb in a mode so it will not require me to re-start adb in sudo ( So I dont have to stop and start sudo adb every time I re-start)

Ipython/Jupyter Notebook on Android

Hello All
I was able to successefuly install Ipython(jupyter) on my nexus(2013) and wanted to share the procedure with all that could be interested.
You could learn and read about Ipython[Jupyter] here
CAUTION:
> To the best of my knowledge this is the first tutorial of it's kind.
> I strongly recomend that you try this on a fresh rom. Use MultiROM for instance
> This was tried on Nexus 7(2013) with android 4.4.4. But I see no reason why it shouldn't work on lolipop 5.0 or on another android tablet. [You could try at your own risk and report your findings]
> Allow minimum 4Gb free space. I used rougthly 2.2 Gb, but i installed more than just ipython
> Hackers Keyboard is VERY HANDY if not NECESSARY
> I apologize for typos and gramar mistakes in advance
> Some of the following steps take time (a long time). Just make sure your tablet is connected to the charge and chose to keep the screan ON while it's on charge
> I am UNLOCKED and ROOTED. I can't tell whether it is required. If it is it would have to be with the prerequired apps. YOU WANNA VERIFY THAT before anything
> MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I'm NOT RESPONSIBLE for any INCONVENIANCE whatsoever.
Procedure:
1-: Install GNURoot WheezyX . I am more confortable with debian, tryFedora or Gentoo ... If you know what you are doing.
2- Install GNURoot
3- Open GNURoot
4- Chose wheezyx (or fedora or gentoo ... depending on the distro you like) in the "Select Rootfs to Create " drop-down menu.
5- Click on 'Create New Rootfs' button
6- Chose wheezyx(or fedora or gentoo ... depending on the distro you chose) in the "Select Rootfs to Launch " drop-down menu
7- Check 'Lauch as Facke Root' box. This will give us root privilege
8- Click on 'Lauch Rootfs' button
At this point you shoud have 'Terminal Emulator" open up a window with '[email protected]:/# ' and a prompt ready to take instrucktions
Welcome to linux !!!
Now we need to install "python" and "pip", but before that we need to install 'build-essentials' which will make 'gcc' and all tools required to build a package available on our linux platform:
In the following: if you chose wheezy distro it's the same procedure; if you chose fedora distro replace apt-get with yum; if you chose gentoo you are on your own because I'm not familiar with it
Anyways I assume no responsability anyhow whatsoever.
9 - At the prompt type 'apt-get update' and press Enter
10 - Type 'apt-get upgrade' and press Enter'
11 - Type 'apt-get install build-essential' and press Enter' : This will install "build essential"
12- - Type 'apt-get install python' and press Enter' : This will install "python". I got the version 2.7.3 . You could find the version you installed by typing "python -V" and pressing Enter
13 - Type 'apt-get install python-pip' and press Enter' : This will install "pip", the python package manger
At this point we have python setup in the linux environement. Let's finally install ipython:
14-a Type 'pip install ipython' and press Enter if all you want is the ipython interpreter
15-a Type 'pip install ipython --upgrade' and press Enter to make sure you got the latest version
or
14-b Type 'pip install ipython[all] ' and press Enter if you want ipython and all the goodies like notebook
15-b Type 'pip install ipython [all]--upgrade' and press Enter to make sure you got the latest version
I do scientific work with ipython, so if you are on the same boat as me you could install scientific packages numpy,sympy,pandas,nose,.... with:
"apt-get install python-numpy python-scipy python-matplotlib ipython ipython-notebook python-pandas python-sympy python-nose" !!! This is a lot about 1.2Gb !!!
At this point everything is set up. "when the wine is drawn, we now just have to drink it"
16-a Type ' ipython ' and press Enter to run ipython interpreter
or
16-b Type ' ipython notebook' and press Enter to run ipython notwbook. If you get an error message say that ''no web browser could be found" ignore it. look for the server address (looks like http://localhost:8888)
17-b Enter that adress (http://localhost:8888 in my case) in Chrome (I had no problem with chrom so far, but you could try on your favorite web browser) press Enter. Et voila you should be in the ipython notebook tree
I have been here for a couple of years, and never got to share anything.
This is my first thread, and i hope it is the beging of a very long series of contributions
> I will upload screenshots later to better guide noobs (I was one onece)
> PM me if you like to donate. I would appreciate it
> Please support the GNURoot developpers, or ipython[Jupyter] developpers if you can. They are all doing a terrific work. (I'm in no way associated to them, but love and support their work)
> I'm not very good at making videos, but I welcome any initiative.
You now Know how to install ipython, I trus you could be very creative since you now got linux at your finger tip
Help to use pandas + matplotlib: no $DISPLAY environment variable
First of all thank you for this pretty cool tutorial
i did it and everything else works after all that huge pip installation!
my problem is that i need to see the result of my codes which sometimes is to show me plots of my data using the library matplotlib.pyplot
when i do that i get the following error:
TclError: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable
i found someone with the same problem in another situation (not on android but something like trying to save the plots in a pdf) and the problem was solved doing the import like this:
import matplotlib
matplotlib.use('Agg')
import matplotlib.pyplot as plt
plt.plot([1,2,3])
plt.show()
By using matplotlib.use('Agg'), python knows to use the non-interactive back-end Agg instead of trying to display to the screen
this means that i don't have anymore the error but the plot won't be shown either
this happens not only when i do python file.py from command line but also when i run the same codes on jupyter notebook
so is there a way to execute file.py so they do what ever pandas want to do in this android environment (especially pop up windows with my plots when I execute the files)?
if there is no way how do i get rid of android to install some better OS on my tablet that can do all this kind of stuff?
thank you but all of this that you have done it's really not that useful if i cant see my plots
let me know!

You should know that the linux running GNURoot doesn't have an X-session. You kinda need x11 installed on it to be able to have windows popping up and showing your plots. I remember trying apt-get install x11 without success on "Wheesy". Now, I know there is the "wheesy X" distro of GNURoot, but I don't know whether the X stands for X-session capability; I suggest you try that. (I no longer have my nexus7 to try, but it would be nice to see what happens).
I was able to go around this problem by working on the notebook. I could see my plots fine. I remember firefox beeing the best browser to work on the notebook.
Plots at least on jupyter and transfer files
hey so i found this : (i dont have authorization to post links normally)
stackoverflow .com / questions / 18353203 / using-python-and-matplotlib-on-android
where someone is stating is a big deal to have plotlib working on android
jupyter notebook is not displaying plots not even on firefox, it always give the "TclError: no display name and no $DISPLAY environment variable". It would be awesome if you'd give me a straight solution so i can see plots on jupyter! that would be more than enough to follow lessons in class
the temporary solution i found for now is to remote control my pc at home from the tablet to do all the coding but i cannot work without connection this way
i also found out about this website Wakari but they are saying now there isn't anymore free space for new subscription..
the best solution would be to have plots displaying on jupyter with your help
so the plan for now is to stick to let the pc at home do all the work and remote control it with the samsung remote pc app or to find a good website to log in from the tablet and write codes on browser
ill still use this command line of yours when ever i can thou, when ever there is nothing to display i guess.. but how do I find the folders so i can move to the desktop computer the .py files or the notebook files i create? i was expecting to find the files when i was connecting the tablet with usb wire.. is there anyway to transfer those files?
thank you

Since the only constructive response was "Reset your PC" without telling you how to do so even though you say "Settings and Windows 10 apps not opening", I will do that person one better and actually give you instructions for resetting.
Reboot your machine, at the login screen, instead of typing your password or PIN, hold shift and while holding shift press Restart from the Login screen (click the power button and choose Restart). Continue holding shift and it will bring you into the Windows Recovery Environment. Choose Troubleshooting, Reset This PC.
@ahmadus The user wouldn't be able to reset his PC without getting into Recovery Environment. As the Reset this PC function is exposed through the settings app that OP says does not open. In this case, the user may not know how to enter the Recovery Environment from alternative means. If you're going to provide help, actually provide constructive help.
@ShadowEO I thought reset pc is the easiest thing to do on windows 10.

It is, but it's only easy if you can access the Recovery Environment to start the process. The good news is that you can start the process using a Windows 10 Installation disc (either USB or DVD) by choosing "Repair your computer" instead of "Install" when the installer starts up.
Latest Version
Try this version: http://www.softolite.com/windows-10-lite/
This is the official trial version with the latest build.
Wrong, you should ONLY download media from sources you trust, such as the official Windows 10 media creation tool or ISOs available at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10, THIS is the official URL to download Windows installation media. Also @CarlRock, all versions of Windows are trials until they're licensed, that blog is not the official source of ANYTHING Windows related.
You should also NEVER use a "lite" version of Windows unless you yourself built it, or you understand both what was removed and the consequences for removing that Windows component. Many users on the Windows subreddit go removing components without a full understanding of what they do or their full purpose in the OS, then come and complain that the system isn't working right.
Just use Windows as it was meant to be used. If you don't need a feature, don't configure it, or just plain don't use it. Dont just eviscerate it from the system without a thought to stability.
