[Q] Custom ROMs for A7(SM-A700FD)

Hey folks i recently bought A7 ,dying to find out Custom ROMs .
rooting n recovery yes i had seen the procedure, its promising n tempting :laugh:
But where can i find the custom roms? am i missing anything?
no one is interested to develop or port?
Earlier i had nexus 4, every ROM i found for it on XDA i flashed em all. thanks for dev's
but with A7 other than scrolling up n down m unable to play wit it :crying:
let me know , if m using the right device for atleast one year else i will sell it off :laugh:as without custom ROMs on a phone i really feel like m using an iPhone:laugh:

Well no currently only A7 I cant take more projects with current one lol Already 1 person is interested on it he is not developer but lets see for now no plans on A5

Na dont sell such good device you have to just wait since its new platform for Samsung devices hence may take sometime i will make a thread soon keeping things upto date on what is going on and progress of development

No but my best buddy @RVR owns it

This is a great news....my son's bought this device today. I just said to him what the ***l you buying this blah!!!....LoL
On the other note....i also seen @RVR releasing custom recovery (TWRP) for this device....both news make me smile a bit....at least we will see more good news to A7 owner....:good:
P.s-hmmmm....once get chance i will flashing the recovery and try playing with my TWRP theme on it....

i installed lollipop on my A7 and its just AWESOME!!! you can do it too. its very easy. just google it. if you have any questions, mail me at [email protected]

Ya sure its still work in progress the major issue is
1) Kernel Sources are KK based ( So we have to make it compatible with Lollipop , just takes sometime )
2) Adapting Sources to Snap 615 SOC (new to samsung)
Once CM boots i will make a thread here with all and latest updates

Why Op2 Not getting Official cyanogenmod

Guys today i have a serious doubt.Why Oneplus Two not getting Offcial cyanogenmod nightlies support.
its being 5 months i guess,
Yuphoria got official nightlies in just 1 month. Why only with Oneplustwo like this

I think because of disputes between cyanogen and oneplus.

Yophoria got official cm support in 1 month because it run CMOS is stock firmware for it. So they already have a build to go at

even yureka for Cyanogen device.it got cyanogenMod after 4 months.
anyway i got info about the issue.
actually for offcial support. first the device tree must be stable. for use no fingerprint or laserfocus. offcial nightlies will come only if they are fix by a dev . Just pray it happens soon.then only custom rom flow will start

Bro both of them almost the same cyanogenmodos is unrooted default rom. And cyanogenmod nightlies is lil. Buggy but not stable. 3rd party rom for devices

That's probably Oneplus 2 doesn't have an official device maintainer in the Cyanogenmod division.

The way official CM works is by getting a solid unofficial release with a device/vendor tree, then somebody offers to maintain an official branch.
Complaining about it without contributing anything isn't going to help. Why don't you offer to do all the work and maintain the OP2 for CM?

But s8 port is a different thing..... and which rom you are talking about?

Developer xx has stated he is working on it .
BUT asking for a release date will put back release by one month each time .
There will be no instructions for install posted as this will fit in with all the noobs etc that don't read instructions anyway .
Modifications and Themes none supplied you want then do some learning or search .
Questions will not be allowed as the answers have already been posted under search .
Updates if asked for will result in a OTA pushed to users phone that will restore to stock rom .

Well, as long as it is a touchwiz N I'd go with it. I'm loving the RRN and LA but the spen functionality lacks on these roms

S pen features.....lack in cm or amy stock rom

there are plenty of way to get spen funcionality in the rom you mention... learn to use the search button

We may well get TW7 when the Note 7 is released again or even TW8 .

But I doubt if it going to function well on Note3, as TW is getting more and more resource hungry.

Both these roms are not TW, meaning they are lake advanced features of the Note family., mostly the spen, s view and gestures.

Wrong, CM/ Lineage based roms has its own flavour, charm & advance features, which are unlike TW that's it. You can not compare mangoes with apples.

It is impossible unless galaxy s5 gets the N update as snapdragon 801 is the overcloked version of snapdragon 800 so they have compatibility between them so that can port from the S5 N TW firmware to N3.

Firstly this isnt Galaxy Tab S2 this is Galaxy Tab 2
Next he isnt obliged to do that! There are tons of tutorials available on internet as well as on XDA
Iirc Andi left development and we should be thankful to him for keeping our tab alive
I myself am trying to upstream kernel if i succeed we might get new android versions

Well this is great news! I have minor problems on my tab 10.1 and 7.0 like it being sometimes very slow which is common for android 7 unfortunately. I wish both of you the best of luck!

Unfortunately Android-Andi isnt gonna make new roms, he left development
Hopefully someone who knows how to do the changes for oreo and above come and start atleast some development

I hope so too! and perhaps it will happen because the samsung tab 1 10.1 received android oreo, I don't see why this shouldn't happen to samsung tab 2 10.1 and 7.0

I recently installed 6.01 on my old Tab 2. I used lineageOS13 from android Andi. It's nice and stable, but would love to get updates and security patches.

Well if you are talking about lineage os develooment, instructions to build roms are available on official website. At least you know something about development. I dont know anything !!

Yes they are but for android 6 xD, i already tried building oreo but didnt work
even i didnt know about develpment i asked in lineageos chats and read online about it, needed to start somewhere
