Skip right to M - Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo General

I was doing some reading online and saw an article that said its a possibility that the delay in the lollipop rollout hints to Motorola skipping 5.1 and going straight to M. Thoughts?

You just read in this post that droid turbo will skip right to N after the release of M and L. Furthermore, sources say that it will be released after collaboration between VZW and Motorola. You heard it here first.

I really laughed when I read the title

Nope. Moto is pushing the turbo right to N! As soon as it's built, tested and launched..oh ya! Moto definitely did not completely forget or stop caring about the turbo.

Lets look at this logically for a second.
Why would a Chinese site report on an American carrier and phone?
http://www.yibada.com/
Now, logic aside, lets look at the source.
http://autoomobile.com/news/motorola-droid-turbo-android-m-instead/10023303/
Wait, pure speculation, including the final name of M? Heh.
This is the same site that has been making up crap like Lollipop is currently rolling out. They have since modified their articles, probably from the backlash they got from it. Twice they said Lollipop was rolling out, once in December, and again at the beginning of the year. Both times, wrong.

There are a few rings of websites that all link to each other and use each other as sources to increase their position on google and generate revenue from ads. They either make up stuff or copy from other, legit sites. Don't fall for these tricks and don't give them traffic

My thoughts are you don't want that to happen.
Verizon would give the Droid Turbo "M" SIX months after M is named and released (sometime in 2016). Do you want to wait that long?
MEANWHILE, the 2015 Quark follow up would already be on the market, if there is one.

That's a good tip I didn't know about. You just block the G+ pages of these websites? I get pissed every time I see "master herald" in Google Now!

I want the turbo to go straight to Android m aka muffin. Besides I don't think the turbo will get lollipop. I think they might skip right to muffin aka android m

Or maybe right to Necco wafer...

Next we'll hear they're restarting the alphabet and the Droid Turbo will be getting Android A soon.

Also linked, this very believable link.

No shiza. I'll bet every, single carrier went "Ouch" when that hit. Better gear up the call centers fellas.
It doesn't inform them how to publish the apps to the market.
For all the negatives there are a lot of positives that can come of this.
I agree with jcase this might not be a good thing

There is a $25 fee to register as a dev to be able to submit apps, hopefully that deters most of the crapware
Think they are really using this to get ideas from other peoples crap LOL. Then make it better. Love the royalty free part. If you come up with gold they get to put it out there and only pay you small amount of what you should get.

right now they are only opening the beta to pretty much teachers of some sort (for some reason its what i have read don't remember if it was on lifehacker or some other site) ... so basically when you filled out the app for the beta you should have put on there somewhere that you were a teacher... or just wait until its released to the public.
My nephew is really interested in app development, but he's 10 so teaching him how to build an app the good old fashioned way won't hold his interest. This on the other hand will. I signed up last night. We'll see.
I singed up as well,
hope it doesn't take to long to get this out to people
I don't think the market could ever be as bad as when i was on 1.5
it was all soundboards, and the $25 fee will probably help as well
Building a research tool.
I'm gonna experiment with making apps for my own use - mainly data-mining. For instance, I'm going to build an app to automatically gather general econ data GDP, unemployment rates, Fed Funds rate, crude oil prices, etc.) so I can have them at my fingertips during class.
I'll probably do the world a favor & NOT put them on the market since no one would download it, unless I name it EconFart
Carry on my XDAers!
Son of a gun. From the looks of the Cat add this will encourage even more soundboards

I9020A got OTA! (and how to got it now)

I have a i9020A of Canada Fido and I got the 4.0.4 OTA just now! From my 2.3.6 all stock, no root no unlock nexus s.
the package is 128.6M and I am still downloading it. Here is the method to help you to get it NOW!
Manage APPs -> ALL->Google services Framwork: clear data ->dial *#*#2432546#*#* (*#*#checkin#*#*)->GOT IT!

PS: It has been one day and many people posted that they received the OTA. It's NOT a April joke.... However, I know many people's nexus s don't work. As the OTA file is availiable already, you can easily manual flash it using stock recovery. I did the method above for half a day and finally got it (The method was originally from a Chinese forum http://bbs.gfan.com/viewthread.php?tid=3941961&extra=page%3D1%26amp%3B%20sortid%3D and http://bbs.gfan.com/android-3941883-1-1.html They got the OTA at 12:05pm, 31/3, Canada Eastern Time )

maybe but that jives with a few other reports from yesterday, which would be a bit early for that. Now if one of the i9020A users from the great white north can capture the URL, the AT&T crowd can get there factory update on.

Im not being ridiculous. I was commenting about your post saying that you dont care about US carriers. If a carrier releases a rom first we can more than likely find whats new and whether we need to bother waiting for the official update or whether we can call the latest leak MJ5 official.
And he didnt take a photo of his screen. He took the image from the site I posted a link to or similar.
Im not saying it was worth a thread being created, 1 is too many "cant wait for or 4.3 is coming soon" threads.

In the last week there have been A LOT of these threads being created. From "Someone tell me what to buy??!!!//..." to the crop of 4.3/4.4 threads that say absolutely nothing new, to the people creating Q and A threads in the General section or Rom comparison threads just for no reason.
I tried the new 4.3 Touchwiz ROM but I still think it's too bloated and it it became slow and unstable on my device.
I am now using Omni and that's really stable, fast and smooth

By all means, please keep sharing who gets invites. Even better if you use the same handle on the Motorola forums!
Everyone in this thread should be ashamed. You are breaking NDA with Moto by talking about this in public. I do hope that you are removed from the soak and kicked out of the MFN.
It says we aren't allowed to discuss what is actually in the soak test, not that we can't mention it exists.

Hi! If you don't have a zip, you can install TWRP and create a backup of your system /boot and upload the zip. Others can restore using this backup and enjoy marshmallow

Not only that when you agree to be a tester you agree to not say anything. That includes posting screenshots, talking about it, or even just saying "I got the soak test!". Sad when a couple people ruin a good thing for the rest by posting and sharing details about a confidential process. I wouldn't be surprised to see Moto pull it, and keep it in house instead of using actual consumers to test.

This is most annoying. I hate when I see it too. There's only been one time where I openly acknowledged that I was part of a SOAK, and that was a few weeks after it ended.
Tapped out from my Motorola Droid Turbo, featuring Android 5.1. Please pardon my brevity.
Somebody will leak it. Always do. Patience

Sorry to bring up old thread, but didn't want to start a new one.
I am on virgin mobile xt1548 and just got an email and survey for new software to test, so I assume this is considered a soak.
I answered the survey and it said I was most likely going to be eligible.
My question is will a soak test be pushed as an OTA?
I am currently running cm13 so I know I will need to revert to stock ROM and recovery. Just curious about the procedure as I've never been included in such a test.
Thanks in advance

I would think you want to be stock for that. Wonder if it's 6.0.1 I'm also with Virgin Mobile nice to see they are finally getting around to it

Yes, it will come OTA and you're right about needing to be completely stock. If you've used the unlocked bootloader fix that shouldn't matter or at least it didn't for me on the soak tests I've done.

I'm positive I need stock, just curious if it would just show up one day or if Motorola would send a link to download.
It would be nice to see 6.0 on virgin, but honestly I would most definitely go back to cm.
In the survey they asked if I was on virgin mobile and there was a disclaimer that I could not contact my carrier if I had issues, as it would be a software test. They also said i t was confidential, so I've probably voided that by now lol.
Virgin Mobile OTA Soak Test
Just like hossman, I have been choosen for a soak for my Virgin Mobile Moto g 2015.
Hopefully, this means bug free implementation of 6.0 . Glad it's finally arriving. Curious but did you guys sign up with Motorola to be testers?
