Is your phone deodexed? It would require a program like root explorer, or you will need the android sdk installed on your pc and adb setup and working to push the files to your phone. Let me know your setup and myself or whoever else sees this next can probably get you on the right track

I have everything except the adb thing, what is that?

Oh and also I don't have an android sdk

ADB / SDK
Did some quick googling and came across this guide for you
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
at step 4, USB drivers, you have to download ones for the DroidX if you dont already have them.
Root explorer may be easier if all you need it for is this one time, although it is a paid app. ADB is free, but takes a bit longer to set up and requires a PC connection. Both are great tools and have their strengths and weaknesses.
I have root explorer, but I'll look at the guide when I'm back near my computer

Ok I've read the guide and have both ADB and the SDK but how will this help me replace my system apps with themed ones?

[Q] Rooting and Amazon Prime

Hi developers!
I just received a KF as a gift and I am considering whether to root it. I want to have Prime access for the streaming video and lending library services. I have seen that there are various ways to go about rooting, and various levels of rooting, all the way up to replacing the rom completely, but I have not seen a list comparing them with respect to keeping Prime access.
So, if my goal is to keep Prime access, what are my options, and what methods should I definitely avoid?
Thanks!
look at the KFU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
you can select temporary or permanent root
with permanent root you have to use voodoo OTA rootkeeper to retain prime access
While rooted, you can not use the Amazon Prime video streaming, and there may be a couple other Amazon-specific things that won't work, but I haven't bumped into them.
However, you can use tools such as OTA Rootkeeper to switch root off when you don't need it (which for me is all the time except when I want to install something that Amazon didn't want me to, such as Google Maps or Currents).
Even with Root off, if you've installed superuser (which is in the standard instructions), a tool such as ES File Explorer can elevate itself to superuser status and muck with the root-level file structure. (caution: all power tools can kill)
I don't fault Amazon for turning off streaming with Root turned on, as a rooted machine probably greatly simplifies the ability to capture DRM'd streams and keep them... but with the ease the machine is rooted, and once something's installed unrooted again, then like all DRM, it's pretty ineffective. I have no interest at all in breaking DRM, only in using my KF as more than just an Amazon media consumption tool.
Now that I've got Swype, the Android Market and Maps working, I don't see a need to keep Root on my slate... but I want to know that I can do it when I need it.
Amazon Video will not work on a custom ROM for the fire yet, but works fine rooted on the stock rom when using OTA.

[Q] Will Root or custom ROM allow 2+ users..

Basically just want to know if I root and use a custom ROM on my Kindle Fire could two or more users use the Kindle with thier google accounts...I've done some google searches and it seems to be a hassle..but wondering if rooted if different outcome...thanks. Also I did a search but came up empty...if someone can direct me to a thread I'd appreciate it..
Root Needed
As far as I can tell from your post, you want to have multiple google accounts on your device?
This is easy, but won't work on stock. On stock ROM you can't have any google accounts. You will need to root unfortunately!
Heaps of guides on this around.
Main Steps:
-Get ADB on your computer (explaining this takes forever)
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
EDIT: NOT A GOOD WAY - http://www.trick-computer.info/howto-root-amazon-kindle-fire.html or google!
-Use Kindle Fire Utility to install BurritoRoot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
-Rooted, then install android market and google framework - also guides around. The easiest way to install android market is to go into kindlefireutility and just press a couple of buttons in it (auto download and install )
Thanks to the devs!

[Q] Newbie root question

I want to root my nexus 7 2014, 4.4.4, to run stickmount and to run "[EXPERIMENTAL] Enable Mirroring from any device". I have not rooted a device before.
1) can i take a full backup before rooting and then restore to save my apps and settings? i have lots of stuff loaded and do not want to spend a ton of time reloading.
2) I am not going to load another ROM. just that the two apps i want to run need root access. what is the easiest method for doing this - hopefully one with pictures and a single script.

[HOWTO] Install Google Apps Without Rooting [Tester Required]

Hello guys, I am back! [中文請向下讀]
I am back with a new method for installing Gapps in a better way. I have just installed on a Yota3 phone and seems very stable this time. However, I still need someone to test this out to make sure things are alright.
For the rooting method, I will create another thread later on.
Tester requirement:
1. Windows 7 or higher
2. Has ADB and Fastboot installed (Will write-up how to do this)
3. Has a USB wire (Unless you never charge your phone..)
4. Disposable phone data (Yes, risky process, backup all your stuff before you start)
I will update this thread later... :fingers-crossed:
Chinese Section 中文區:
剛完成安裝到一部Yota3上, 但仍需要一名測試人員測試一下方法可靠性.
測試人員要求:
1. Windows 7 或以上
2. 已安裝ADB及Fastboot (會再另外寫安裝教學)
3. 有USB線....
4. 電話上的資料可以被刪除 (請備份備份備份!)
no need to do like this, no need to root YOTA3 phone too. you may just install an APP named GO谷歌安装器 in original AppStore of YOTA3 then use this app to install Google Apps
Welp, its OK if you don't even need Google at all. Would you allow the device that you use every day for more than 8 hours has some unknown or untrusted apps installed? I would say NO. If you stop just right here, there is no point to have a new phone too.
You talking about this?

I can't even get INTO Google Play Store to change setting on whatever that app is called.
