Next Up?

Hey Guys,
First off to everyone that has left or is on a leave, thanks for what you did.
Now, I am looking for some POSITIVE news. I did read that Rob decided to stick with an Epic (love that, Rob is awesome). What else is coming down the pipe? Everyone thinks CM7 will never come, I know its getting worked on, I have tried it, and hope that comes through. What is Bonsai or Viper up to? They both do awesome work. Any new devs out there cookin up some goodies?
I guess I am sick of the looking back, and want to know what you all are looking forward to?
This phone rocks! I just got 42 hrs battery life with the ebay 3500 using SFR and the EE03 Modem. I cant upgrade for a while, so I am going to like this phone.
Thanks for reading and, and I am interested to hear what you all are looking forward to.
PS - we know Z-Man the puzzle lock screen. Which I heard is rolling out...

i Was posting on what i am looking forward to i've mostly stayed on MidNight and Bonsai.
But Acs was the best IMO but with it gone i will spend most of my time on Bonsai or MidNight....
Until CM7 Gets a little more stable and will let me go to 1400 Gigawatts

You know, even though ACS (or ICN) is gone, it doesn't mean this community has depleted. We lost two amazing devs (k0nane and mysteryemotionz), but that should not bring us down! In fact, I bet you if a bunch of the other devs like Rob and Mammon and marcusant, etc. all were to make a new team, I'm sure we could make some pretty sick ROMs. And remember, we still have CM7 in the works by nullghost, DevinXtreme, Dameon, awesome kernels by thomasskull and DRockstar...so just remember, this community still has tons of potential left.

Acs isn't gone no clue why that's being said. Unfortunately k0nane is but the rest of Acs devs are still here. There will be a slow down in progress without k0 but work will still surface.

Are you guys still planning for a release. I would hold out on Syndicate since I love the way it runs and the LP integration.

I'm honestly not sure the fate of sr111 120 but as soon as me and jez2cool get more function from our google 2.3.4 build which is the os on the nexus, we will bring everyone in on that and we're trying but I'm a but tied up with the nexus s as well so blame me and the kernel for that delay

My two cents - I dont get people and the "oh, what do I do now?" thing. k0nane and Mystery did some great work, but dont leave it up to other people to do the stuff you want done. I spent a lot of time working with a developer learning linux, and how to compile and tweak kernels, because I wanted to make my own(and understand what I was doing). I spent a lot of time chatting with a themer because I wanted to make my own theme. If you want something done, stop waiting for someone else, and get out there and start learning.

so what happened to viper team. the last rom was pretty sick and i really like the viper pad it works very well when you are using the samsung dock and everytime you go to do something else the music would stop playing thur the usb

New ROMs....

I'm like a kid in a candy store! I barely get one ROM on my phone and another great one comes out, sometimes from the same developer! It has got to stop! I am flashing ROMs left and right, neglecting work, family ect ect! What a quandary! I think I am an Evoholic! Is there a 12 step program for guys like me?

There is a one step program. Smash your phone and get an iphone and have zero customization.

Its something that is long dying, that at 21 I'm glad I have it, its called willpower.

Cold turkey indeed.

I do the same thing. I keep telling myself I just want 1 good ROM to flash and let it settle and just use my phone. Then I see something new and shiny and start the process all over again.

All these ROMs are the same ****. Seems like some guy, I mean dev comes along, slaps some dumb name and a boot animation in it and SHAZAM! new "ROM".

What I do is flash cm7 nightlies, so I can flash something new whenever I want, but not really have redo much..

I can quit any time, really I can.

Not all of them are created equal. There are about 3-4 people that are actually doing bases, IMHO, but the rest are more like themers. Still, sometimes it is fun to try a "themer's" version as not all themes play well with each ROM. They can still do way better than I can so I take my hat off to them all!

I agree that so many of them are the same aside from some minor theming. And many are way less stable (and slower) than stock! I have settled on stock (with bloat removed by myself) and it honestly has the best stability and battery life so far. I have probably tried 15 different Evo ROMs over time, and each has it's issues, be it battery life, crashing apps, losing connevtivity, etc. I apprecuate the work that the devs put into it (for free!) but it rarely pays off for me. Stripped down stock simply works best for my phones (despite the dubious speed test scores...)
Anyway, rest assured that you will soon have an Evo 3D with a whole new set of ROMs to try ;-)

LOL!! MY roommate bought my old Moment, that was rooted and setup with my ROM, and he didn't know squat about Rooting, etc.
Now, every time I see him on his computer, he's all over SDX-Developers Moment section.....

The phone it self can sync to your Gtab, flosscarter on youtube showed a video, plus looks like an awesome phone, but the only issue people has is LOS till update around nov - beginning of jan of new year, not to many people had issues, other complaint was the feel of the phone i guess it feels like plastic, which doesnt bother me.
@Indirect I would love to send my evo shift to someone who could use it, but im giving it to my mom :-D since shes letting me use her upgrade.
@notsointeresting I am SOOOO gonna have fun over there. the phones been out for a little over a month and they got a few nice looking roms so far, but not much can be done yet, still early in the game.

What are you taliking about everybody ?

We still have new roms coming. we have the Kingdom rom and the Bliss rom will be coming soon to and when ICS is released we will get that too. The shift is not close to being low active. I for one will probably keep using my shift for another 6 months to a year depending if a phone i really like comes out

I've been due for my upgrade for about three months . Not planning to get rid of my Shift for a long time . This phone has proven to me time and again it's ability to perform. Soon as someone gets an OC kernel going, it's game on . IMO the Shift is very underated.

Wow, just when i thought this forum kinda died off a little, i leave and BOOM less than a week of me leaving this phone to my mom and me getting the E4GT, this forum boosted... Same thing happened with me with the HTC hero, When i left my Evo for the shift, 2.3 came out that exact day i was like are you F'n kidding me, and now this one... maybe i curse HTC lol.

Well for all those in the audience saying the. Shift is on the way out. I just came back from the local Sprint store ( know some peeps there ) . We messed around for about an hour comparing phones. Running Quadrent, Antutu, and Speedtest. The Shifty smoked them, only OC'd to 1.4mHz. So I'll be keeping my Shift for quite a while .

First phone I installed a new FW on was my Ericsson T68 when they had the joint venture with Sony and released the T68i FW, I tend to play a bit. I will try and stay on the stock ROM for as long as possible but.....

I think heating problems will be the least of my problems!
I do like iOS because most things work and don't need customization. I like the idea of Android because you can get it to do anything you want, I have wasted far to much of my life messing with phone's FW but have gad a break, now to waste a lot more time methinks.

Welcome and the best thing to know about android is forget everything you know about Iphone and dont try and compare it. Also once its in your hand you now own your phone and you have gotten your life back.... LOL
I agree with above statement though, mess around with stock then jump into one of the custom roms if you want more control.... Read up on roms rooting and everything android in the forum

I would suggest to root first and then stay stock.
Cause if you do later then you will have the hassle of saving your data.

Check if your device has light bleed, gaps, moving parts, or cracks

And don't get shocked by the display colors. You can easily adjust them with root and a kernel which supports gamma control.

1) Be prepared with your Google account.
2) Log in www.gmail.com --> Click Left corner "Gmail" text and choose "Contacts".
3) In "Contacts" click on "More" --> "Import..." and choose your exported iPhone contacts from www.icloud.com
4) After the import you may want to try..."More" ---> "Find and merge duplicates". This will be the view on your Phone's phonebook. You can manage it from your PC (www.gmail.com) or just from your Android phone.
Turn on your phone and follow the welcome assistance, enter your Google Account with all your contacts already loaded.
Now you are ready to start exploring.......(Update to latest version...if any....try Google "Keep" for Notes...update apps with Play Store...etc).
I'm helping a friend who is coming from iPhone (he had iPhone 1 and iPhone 4) to Android...He will start with a cheap Skyrocket (Galaxy S2 4.5'' AT&T dual core 1Gb ram and a good camera sensor) with 4.2.2 stock (non-samsung) Android called CyanogenMOD.
So i did this with him.
P.S: You may want to disable GPS, NFC, Google maps location settings (Report from this device & Enable location history), Cell broadcasts, in order to save more battery.
If you want to ROOT your Nexus 4 (have administrator rights for your device) please consider that you first will need to "Factory Reset / Wipe" all your Phone (because you need to unlock the bootloader first and that action wipes your Nexus data)..
So...i recommend to do this first. (But it's going to be premature for you....).
And..you can't compare Root with Jaiilbreaking....because "root" concept it's simpler. JB it's another thing....completely different.

performance is great better than 4.3 maybe. it's hard to quantify. My a500/a501 hybrid is in bad shape the power button fell out the other day when the kids dropped it again that and the holiday and the other devices on my desk are all slowing down my progress.

Once at least WiFi is working I might build this myself and test it out. I can't seem to find a repo from your github page but then again I never really was good with github... I'm excited to tinker with this; even if I can't fix anything.

Yay!! Great work getting KitKat running on your a500, I have been trying for weeks to get it up and running with no luck yet. This gives me hope.
This is what I have so far : Acer A500 Port for CM-11.0

Lol im burried in devices seriously the a500 is sadly not getting first priority lately I'll try to put a build out tomorrow

lol the sad thing is I still haven't built a rom for my primary devices my nexus 4 and new nexus 7 but I'm building daily for desire hd and sero 7 pro bah humbug
working on a500 at the moment trying to fix a breakage I made when I enabled we'd selinux then I'll fix sdcard and upload a trainwreck edition
Grr ran out of time today will try again in a couple days

This will be a breakthrough for all tegra 2 devices. Please share device tree repository when avail. We have been trying to accomplish this in the A100 thread and are looking for any help in making this happen.
