Let's get our M.O.J.O. on(line)! Post pics your M.O.J.O setup! - M.O.J.O. General

Here's my simple little setup. Consists of two Logitech F310 controllers, Seagate 2TB USB 3.0 had drive, Pluggable Peripherals 7 port hub and of course the official controller. Also has a keyboard and mouse dongle plugged in. I'd love to see others. Post em! (BTW, forgive the white extension cable, it is actually connected to the hard drive as I am in the process of backing it up)

6months old photo, but still using the min combo BT keyboard, charge the AAA batteries on the TV usb with the USB hub under it.
And I keep the mojo on it's side.. i think it looks cool and lets the heat rise.
I'll take more pics when my other controller comes

I wont recommend the mini nor the micro (button keys instead of real keys unless it a remote maybe), it's okay for quick surfing/emailing but not for chat etc.. great for my travel bag.. but I would use it more if was more fullsize... I need to replace my old wired keyboard mouse.. so i'll be looking for a fullsize BT combo.
From top left:
AverMedia Capture HD II C285, MOJO 4way USB hub, 32GB roms, cheap twin PS clone controllers on one USB, Behringer headset for late night gaming sessions.
My old USB keyboard and MS laser mouse, 7inch Hyundai T7s, Travel clip with my tablet mod.
MOJO CTRLR, retail CTRLR, Shintaro Mini Bluetooth Keyboard.
And under the TV I have a 4way USB hub powered by the TV's USB port.
Attached are two USB AA/AAA battery chargers and a retractable USB cable for the mini combo keyboard to charge.
Not that much really

2 usb pen
an external dvd that need 2 usb
included hub need 2 usb

You get a free USB hub with Ethernet !!
Included in the package is a USB hub with 3 ports, AND an ETHERNET port !
Nice... I really do like my device

really ? why would they put a usb hub that does not work with the shift... seems weird !
everybody here is using the usb hub without any issue I believe.. because they would have complained earlier
The (much bigger) MacBook AIR also has only one USB port... and Apple doesn't include an 3port-USB-Hub with embedded ethernet port - the shift does.
But there are of course also technical reasons (besides space): Power! An additional USB Port would require additinal power (up to 0,5A at 5V) - thus, the internal power system must be bigger sized for this (and an "oversized" internal power system means: Inefficent under normal operating conditions).
And remember: Most USB Disks draw more than 0,5A from the USB port, especially at spinup time...

when i'm in office or at home i use an external power cable directly connected to the htc hub. but is not comfortable.
and when i'm out or in others places i can't use external power cable.
in my opinion not comfortable anymore.
Isn't the small USB port at the back of the Hub just power in? I didn't try yet, but it is obviously a IN port.

These usb options are great but I think you missing the point of the shift.
The shift is supposed to be a portable device, are you really going to bring all those wired devices with you? Do you really want to be connecting all that up each time you get to work or your desk at home? everyday?
Why not use bluetooth devices?
keyboard and mouse -bluetooth for sure.
Same goes for the pens, portable scanners and printers almost all of them can be found with a bluetooth options.
Hell I even use bluetooth devices for the serial connections on the routers and switches I work with.
Now your external dvd and hardrive to replace those you have to get creative -
For home and work I always map a drive from a desktop machine.
On the road you have a couple of options with flash drives at 16gb for $50-70 bucks do really need that old external harddrive that uses two ports?
32GB flash drives are now as low as $150. Quite few dvd's you can fit on that!
If you really want to be free of carrying stuff around sign up for sugarsync or some other online service and never carry your data again.
I almost never use the external usb hub that came with the shift. It is a last resort item for me, destined for the bottom of the laptop bag. Wifi, 3g and no cables will always be prefered over that thing.
You may like sticking with usb cable/dongle devices but consider switching a few out for more wireless solutions and I think you will like your shift a whole lot better. That rats nest of cables in your laptop bag will shink as well!
I am not knocking you question or the advise others have given just offering an alternative.
My dream is for somebody to find a way to charge the battery on my shift without a cable connected then I will die a happy man.

yes is a power in port. if shift had 2 ports i can be able to use it whitout a power connector at wall (sorry for the expression) i don't know how to say it in english.
however shift have one only usb port. and it is not comfortable.

yeah charging batteries without power cord maybe the century revelation. i hope will be a reality...
i return to my argument ( always sorry for my english)
online storage are not very fast.. or capable for the gigabites that i need to carry with me.
every day i need to put on my pc's, shift included, customers files, personal files, try many new programs. and these actions (you well know on microsoft may destroy very fast a system configuration). an you know that vista business and ultimate have an usefull utility of backup. i need to backup and restore many times in a week or in a day my sistem. so, i need to carry with me many hdd or 8gb pen drive..
and this is my problem..

if you put your mobile phone power cord in the htc hub will be feeded up.
now when hub is feeded you can put more hdd or an external dvd. but if you unput power cord the dvd or the hdds not work yet...
Did you plug a power supply in the mini usb plug on the back? This is a powered USB hub.
i think htc could of added more usb ports but the biggest problem was the space. more usb ports could of made it bigger. never disassembled or looked at the disassembly pics close but im guessing there is no more room really.

Connecting random stuff to OTG cable...

Just wondering what people have tried to connect to their SGS2s via OTG cables... I have tried the following:
Working:
Generic Logitech wireless mouse via USB wireless dongle
Logitech MX1000 wireless mouse via MX's docking station
Genius USB laser mouse
8GB micro SD card via USB adaptor
64GB SSD USB HDD via y-splitter for additional power
Wireless USB mini keyboard with touchpad (the touchpad worked perfectly & CTRL-ALT-DEL rebooted the phone!!!)
Not working:
Samsung ML-2240 laser printer (recognized but won't print)
Logitech STX webcam (unknown device)
Generic bluetooth USB dongle (unknown device)
87 views and no-one else plugging random USB **** into their phone? Just me then, lol.
i tried to plug in via usb:
generic usb mouse
many usb keys from 2 - 16gb
via bluetooth:
mouse
not working via usb:
generic keyboard
via hdmi and working:
lg lcd tv
projector philips
but via hdmi subtitles was not shown, only on phone
i will try printers today...

When my SGS2 and an OTG arrive, I will test some of my hardware(G15(gaming keyboard with lcd display), Razer Diamondback(mouse), Saitek Cyborg EVO(Joystick), HD2(Android phone) and if I ever have too much money and time, something like THIS and of course USB storage devices from 16MB-1,5TB etc. ) Will let you guys know how everything works.

I tried my Logitech G15 and didn't have much success. Connected directly, it's simply a high power USB device, and via a powered hub, it sometimes is detected, usually isn't (seems to depend in what order it's connected). Regardless, I haven't managed to make it function correctly.
On the other hand, my Logitech MX 518 mouse works great connected directly.
My Logitech Webcam 9000 Pro is detected (even directly), but is unrecognized.
I did some tests with the OTG.
Working:
All USB sticks I tested with.
Keychain Spycam. You can even charge it with the phone Only the webcame mode doesn't work
Some old Logitech wireless notebook mouse
Standard Logitech mouse (one that came with a pc)
Not working:
NTFS drive(Haven't tried the NTFS drivers)
HTC HD2-ADB: High power device. Can't test with powered HUB, because the only one I have is the one in my pc display and that doesn't seem to work with my SGS2.
Razer Diamondback:High power device.
Logitech G15:High power device. (as reported above)
Saitek Cyborg Evo (Joystick):The LEDs in the joystick are working, but whatever I press, nothing happens on the device.
Cheap keyboard with backlight:High power device.
Edit: of courses wifi, Bluetooth and UMTS/HSDPA aren't working over otg either xD
Will update when I try more devices
Has anyone tried if it works with a Logitech G700 ?
Do I need 2.3.4 for all this ? I've heard I do ..
I was wondering if a usb dvb-t tuner should work to watch tv( i didn't try).
Hope someone will test it
Connected my digital camera Sony CyberShot DSC-W300 with USB and a new folder appeared in the Gallery app with all the pictures, impressed.
Didn't work with a Canon G5.
I tried a generic USB mouse and keyboard, several flash drives and my wireless mini-keyboard/mouse-combo via USB dongle
Everything worked

Nope, works on 2.3.3 as well.
Samsung implemented the host stuff from the start on.
Just wondering which OTG cables you guys are using. Also are there externally powered versions available (to power devices with higher requirements)?
I use a cheap 9 bucks one from the ew-Bay.
One day I left the wireless dongle for my minikeyboard/-mouse thing connected - phone was in standby all day, but battery was dead empty after a few hours *lol*
Xbox 360 wired controller : recognized as unknown device, lovely it looks it's NOT a power eating controller ! Lights turn on ok
Apple iPad 1G : could work great (device well mounting at first) but it's recognized as high power device, so... Not working.
Sony PSP : Works perfect
Another android phone (Xperia x10i) : guest detects well USB connection, it charges battery (!) and USB mount works. However, host doesn't detect anything.
I tryied my usb 3 drive formated with ntfs and it worked,:good: played mkv video nice and smooth.
As for the cable I bought it on ebay just standard otg cable
I tried Logitech M310 mouse and K360 keyboard both worked.

[Q] Does the Acer a500 support a USB hub?

Hi, im wondering if i can use a USB hub with my acer so i can have a keyboard and mouse hooked up before i buy one.
Yes it does.
~Sent from my Droid SuperCharge~
Sweet! Thanks for the info
Yes but limited to power Requirements
As stated above it will Support a hub ..
But with limitations on devices.. you will not be able to say use a full size usb hard drive while connected to a keyboard and mouse at the same time. I belive this will be to much power . look at the amps and the devices are pulling and compare them with with the Hub says its needs are.. But this is common on any usb hub. they make some that you can use with or without power cord.. I have one that works will i think its a cheaper belkin brand..... very tiny and have 4 ports..

You are correct because they require 12 v.. I use a 1.2 tb laptop drive in a enclosure on mine... it works without power but when powered its much faster.guess there is some type of throttle software.. mine has sata connector . that i also use on my laptop on the esata port .. there its awesome fast.. I have linux windows 8 and a diag version of dos installed on with a nice multi boot loader of course..
For those into games.. my sons Saitek x45 flight controller works on the a500. but MUST Be connected to a usb Powered hub . not sure what he plays with it other then the racing game.. from gameloft. So glad he is off to school now so i get my tablet to myself again...

Use a regular OTG Micro USB to USB adapter
I've been testing my micro USB port with a micro USB to USB OTG cable I have.
Logitech G700 mouse works.
Kingston micro SD to USB adapter works.
Corsair Vengeance 2000 headphones works.
WD 500GB USB 3.0 hard drive works.
Samsung Ultraslim DVD drive does NOT work.
The Samsung DVD drive did work on the full sized USB port on my Samsung 500T tablet. But on the ME400, the light lights up once when I plug it in, but never installs the device and doesn't have any power afterwards. This is a USB powered DVD drive.
Surprised the external hard drive did work when the DVD drive failed. But it showed up fine, had some videos on it, was able to play videos from there okay.
I have another external DVD drive that is powered externally, I imagine that'll probably work fine, I'm too lazy to find it and plug it in (it's an old giant clunky beast).

I think the port only puts out 500ma. The DVD Drive is most likely over that. However quite a lot of modern 2.5" HDDs (your external hdd) are just below 500ma in power which is why it works.
I'll try with my Aluratek dvd writer later. It has a Y cable so may need more than 500mA.

My Samsung DVD drive is powered from a single USB cable (no y splitter for extra power). So I'm guessing the micro USB port isn't even outputting 500mA. It worked fine on the Samsung Atom tablet and I doubt that USB port was outputting more than 500mA.
Guys i have this tablet for about 3 years now and now i face a problem, the tab do not charge anymore and does nothing, not even the orange light of low battery, he does give light of charging, but no life, is this a battery problem? Even if battery is dead shouldnt give life with the charging cable and turn on?

Continuum Doc - alternative options

I thought it can make sense to list here alternative options to use the continuum feature. Here is what I use:
- Aukey USB-C to HDMI adapter
- Supremery BT Keyboard within Touchpad
Good to see alternatives are working fine
Monoprice USB-C to HDMI adapter: works for video, but flaky connection. I also don't get any audio output.
Aukey USB-C to VGA adapter: the phone recognizes a USB device is connected, but doesn't work.
Microsoft Display Dock: Works well without issue of course. However, a few comments - it doesn't work without a power connection. It also doesn't like the Google dual-port USB-C charger and refuses to power up from that (despite the Google charger being capable of 5V / 3A just like the Microsoft one).
Works without issues with Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter for Macbook 12 Retina. And does not need necessarily current.
Continuum works great with the "Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter" too, sound and vision go to the TV/Monitor and phone turns into Trackpad. Just like using the dock but less hassle and wires.
I also tried my Roku3, it works but can be a little flaky
It dosn't work with XCSOURCE USB-C 56k ohm to HDMI /USB 3.1 Multiport Adapter for MacBook LT11

USB port works great...flash drive and keyboard works smooth...BUT HDMI dosn't work at all
Everytime when HDMI cable is inserted phone throw an error with dosn't recognized USB...
Hello,
I also bought the Aukey -C USB to HDMI adapter.
But on 2 Samsung tv , I have problems of disconnection and resolution.
If anyone can help me ....
Thank you in advance
i bought vtin vs1-vvc9h from amazon. Video works.. But i could not make audio to work.
I also bought vicTsing mx-vs1-PCL005B from amazon too. And video worked but audio did not.
I know audio works on ms hd500 with same monitor and cables
The Microsoft wireless Display adaptor v2 works well in continuum mode unless you use 5GHz wifi, in which case it is extremely poor, sound and display stutters like there is no tomorrow.
My Surface pro 2 (normal extended display) has the same issues connecting to it with 5GHz wifi used.
So in short, connect to your internet with a 2.4GHz wifi AP if you intend to use The Microsoft wireless Display adaptor.
I'm quite tempted to get the dock now as one of my office PCs is about to have a catastrophic HHD fail and continuum will kill several birds with a single stone.
https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B01BWMQ5GC
Some people on reddit used this and it worked. Can someone confirm?
I have a LG 42LA660s Smart TV, with Miracast enabled. I just connected my phone to a wireless display, and the Continuum works. It is not flawless but I am satisfied with it.

With the coming of the new Macbook with USB-C, there are now quite a few new and cost effective alternatives on the market. I recently bought an unbranded dongle/dock thing which is advertised as to be used with the new Macbooks. It has a USB-C connector on one end, with a USB-A port, HDMI-out port, and USB-C charging port on the other. Works really well, got it for about 1100 INR / 17.50 USD
My display dock HD 500 with a lumia 950 does only view 720p on my full HD TV. Is there any chance to force 1080p output?
I'm gonna check this tomorrow on work where mine Lumia950 and HD500 are and a Dell 24" FHD screen.
Works fine with my Surface Go tablet and LG FHD 55" television. Surface Go with USB-C kabel and LG-tv with HDMI.
And also my Lumia950 works with it on my LG-tv or at work on HP 24".
