[Q] 4G LTE in E7 32 GB variant - GiONEE Elife E7

Does Gionee E7 really support LTE 4G in the 32GB model?
I have purchased the 32 gb variant and have read everywhere that it supports 4g LTE but havent found any such option in the phone.
Checked for the Phone information from *#*#4636#*#* and it does show the options for LTE only but not able to select it from there.
Does anyone have any idea how to activate the 4G facility in this??
HAS ANYONE TRIED THIS OUT??
This is the process for Nexus 4 which also seems to have LTE Capacity like our Gionee E7 32GB
1) A rooted Nexus 4 running just about any JB 4.2/4.3 OR 4.4+ Kit Kat ROM.
2) Time and patience.
3) ES File Explorer from the Play Market
4) Baseband .33 or earlier (or the hybrid radios from morrislee) (Don't ask what this means here, do a search in the Nexus forums)
(First Edit: Screencaps soon to come!)
First, we're going to need to edit a couple of files in the root (also known as /) file system. Open ES File Explorer and click the blue icon in the upper left to bring up the options menu. Expand Tools, then scroll down to Root Explorer. Select that and Allow ES File Explorer root permissions with superuser.
Another menu pops up, select Mount R/W and change BOTH from "ro" to "rw". Save that and get back to the file system menu in ES File Explorer. Navigate your way to /system and scroll down to select the file "build.prop" Open that with ES Note Editor and select the options menu in the upper right, and click "Edit".
Scroll approximately 3/4 of the way down through the build.prop file and locate this line of code:
Code:
lteOnCdmaDevice=0Change that to this:
Code:
lteOnGsmDevice=1Press the back arrow in the upper left corner of ES Note Editor and it will prompt you automatically to save the file. Click yes.

working mms on t-mo streak 5 (root access required)

before we start sorry for the horrible grammar, i'm not native to U.S. so its kind of a challenge (if anyone can put it together in good grammar I'd be happy to edit this post)
Disclaimer: this may cripple your phones sms and mms functionality do at own risk
Anyways after going crazy for the past 3 weeks, searching all of the internet and obviously getting lots of crap from people who have iPhones I finally figured out a fix for mms images to show up full size on t-mo usa.
p.s. be nice this is my first post and i'm trying to be helpful to those who ran into the same issue
Things needed:
- rooted dell streak 5 (running froyo)
- mms.apk from cyanogenmod nexus one rom (cm6.1.1)
- t-mobile sim card
- root explorer installed on phone
- memory card
The process
Step 1.
load the mms.apk file from cyanogenmod onto any folder on your memory card
Step 2.
use root explorer to navigate to following folder on your phone:
system/app
Step 3.
mount R/W (enable read/write)
scroll down until you find the file labeled "mms.apk" copy the file to a safe spot on your memory card
Step 4.
navigate into folder with cyanogenmod "mms.apk" file, cut and paste file into directory from step #2 ( enable r/w if needed, overwrite file already there)
Step 5.
press and hold on mms.apk file, scroll down to permissions, put a check mark on all 3 in top row(owner)
Step 6.
look within "/system/app" for a file right underneath the mms.apk, I'm not fully sure about the name as far as i recall the name began with "mmso...." delete this file.
Step 7.
Reboot your device
Step 8.
navigate back to system apps folder and install mms.apk as if it were a regular app (not sure if r/w permissions are needed here)
Step 9.
Reboot device, open up messaging app, press menu button then click settings.
scroll down til you see "custom user agent" selection, select nokia n95 from the menu.
Step 10.
give yourself a pat on the back if everything worked correctly and you get full size mms
Notes:
-the device i'm using is an aws version of the streak mini not sure if this would work for unlocked streaks

Looking for Bell OTA (2.3.4) DockService.apk

Hi,
I was wondering if somebody could upload system/app/DockService.apk from Bell. My system version is 45.2.17.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA
Looks like I removed the original DockService.apk by accident while I was testing out some WebTop feature.
Your help would be much appreciated!
Here are the steps how to get DockService.apk if you have Root Explorer and a micro SD card.
1. Launch Root Explorer (you will be on the root directory)
2. Scroll down and open "system" folder by tapping
3. Open to "app" folder by tapping
4. Scroll down until you find DockSerivce.apk
5. Hold down the file for a sec, you will see a pop-up window with options
6. Select "Copy" (you will see Paste and Cancel buttons at the bottom)
7. Hit back button twice (this will bring you back to the root directory)
8. Scroll down until you find "sdcard-ext" folder
9. Tab the folder and tap "Paste" button at the bottom
10. Plug your atrix onto a pc and go to your the SD card on Windows Explorer
11. Upload the file
It's much simpler than how it looks.
I found out that my DockService.apk was the original. The reason why it didn't work was the permissions got changed during copy & paste some how. I changed the permissions back to rw-w-w like other files in "app" folder, everything works fine.

[Q] Can't install CWM

I tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420728
I've got my phone rooted. When I use remount it says .cust_backup/image is rewritable, but when I go to ES File Explorer I can't find the .cust_backup folder to replace the recovery.img in. I can't mount on the pink screen either. So I'm stuck
This is on B526. Google shows zero results on this issue, feels like I'm the only one with this problem?
1- First and most import question your phone must be rooted? If you have custom rom then you have root.
2- After that install root explorer from playstore and then you can see folder "cust_backup" mount "/.cust_backup" as rw.
3- And copy this recovery (you can choose either version) to that folder and tried to reboot should be working.
Sorry if I sound rude, but did you actually read my post lol?
Try this:
Open ES File Explorer and enable Root and Mount RW
Open Settings, press the Menu key then Settings
Scroll Down to Other Settings
Select Root Settings
Check the following Options
Root Explorer
Up to Root
Mount File System

Well I didn't really do what you said, but it got me to search around in the settings and I found "display "." path files" (or whatever it said).
Found the folder
Cheers

haha! I know what your problem is. The .cust_backup folder is hidden! You must go into ES File Explorer's settings, and file a option that says to show hidden files. If you are on the latest version of ES File Explorer, use these steps:
Open ES File Explorer.
Press the menu button on your phone.
From the menu that opens from the left, select the settings button (located on the bottom-right of the menu that just opened.
Once you are in the settings of ES Fiile Explorer, go into "Display setting".
Then, tick the first option that says "Show hidden files"
Now, go back to the root of your phone and you should be able to see ".cust_backup"
If you have any problems then let me know, but it is very simple. Good Luck

[GUIDE][ROOT] Little hack to increase 3G speed on GSM Moto G

OK guys... So this hack was meant for Motorola RAZR XT910 but seems to work on our Moto G but ONLY for GSM variants. Also it will depend on your carriers network type. The change may enable the Van Jacobson style TCP/IP header compression. Your cellular network may or may not support this feature.
Thanks to user @bahathir and his great guide! MORE INFO HERE
To do this:
1 - Download the attachment from HERE, it is called OPTIONS.7Z and deccompress it using WinRAR or 7Zip.
2 - Copy the OPTIONS file to the internal storage (note that the OPTIONS file doesn't have any extension).
3 - Using Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, move the file to /system/etc/ppp/ folder and paste it there.
4 - Change permissions of OPTIONS file to r-xr-xr-x.
5 - Reboot and DONE!
To notice the speed even more, download OOKLA SPEED TEST from Play Store and run the test before and after aplying the hack!
Tested it on my XT1032: Carrier Personal Argentina (See attachments before and after). These are not the best results but the speed increased. Also take into account that networks in Argentina are crap. In other countries the speed may be higher.
Cheers!!!

Writing to External SD card on Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M with lollipop 5.1.1 row [rooted]

Something strange here to me at least. Running Lollipop 5.1.1 from RWC on a Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M. Previously was able to name any path/folder on internal OR external SDcard using Dolphin Browser. Now Dolphin Browser is giving me message that Google restricts writing to External SD card, however there seems there are workarounds for this by changing/adding some lines to the platform.xml file. I tried doing this with ES File Explorer PRO but got message: error occurred while trying to save. File not saved. So I downloaded Apps2SD from Google Play Store and it actually does change exactly the lines in the platform.xml file I tried to change AND files/media actually do download now and can open them with an appropriate app if and only if I tag the download notification BUT afterward CANNOT find the downloaded item anywhere using ES File Explorer PRO nor the stock file manager as both of these by default point to a path sd/0/ExtSdcard(Dolphin) / files and shows Empty folder but if I tag the Dolphin-browser menu/downloads it actually is showing but have no idea where. Any ideas, I am lost. Please and Thank You.
